My day job is influencer marketing, specifically on Tiktok, and I highly suggest having payment go through once the content goes live on Tiktok. This is also so you work with the influencer to agree to content once it does go live beforehand so it is within your wishes and what you envision. Put that all within the contract, 95% of the time the influencers I have worked with (and I have worked with hundreds of various levels of influencers) are okay with payment after it goes live. Less chance of them ghosting you once you pay them.

Lucenzo who made the Fast And Furious 5 hit, Danza Kuduro had only one big international hit. While other songs only having some success in Europe.
Even his manager, Dieter Wilson (former manager of Michael Jackson) couldn't help.
Lucenzo wasn't allowed to release any new music since 2012 because of issues with his previous record label which involved a massive lawsuit. He returned in 2020 after signing with a new label.

What is the right time to have the influencers post? In the weeks before release (to increase buzz going into release) or after the release is out (so the buzz translates to streams)?
As always after release is out. Much of this channel discusses how dumb it is to promote pre release

How does this apply to non-mainstream genres or even music that doesn't fit any genre definition? Music that would never be played on radio anyway even if it is very good? I suspect this only applies to unimaginative mainstream genre music. Am I wrong?
Nope, there’s TONS of songs that have been too trends from way outside the mainstream. Look at garage rock like King Khan or ambient with Lorne. There’s innumerable artists who have massive trends. Even a lo fit artist like Teen Suicide can get 60 million + streams from a TikTok trend

Does spending on a music video still take precedent over TikTok marketing?
I’d say not to do a video unless the song already has a little buzz but that’s just my opinion

hey Jesse, just wanted to know how I would get paid from a feature I did for another artist. he uploaded our song on ditto his distributor but I am with distrokid. he has added me as a main artist so the song appears on both of our profiles on Spotify, so will distrokid know to pay me or what do I need to do to get paid?? thanks Jesse.

This all makes sense, but I can't seem to find accounts that would be good candidates to reach out to. There's a lot of hyperpop related tik tok accounts, but none of them seem to be using songs in the background of videos, they all just talk about artists you should check out. anyone else feel this way?
