    Jassie, I love most of the staff you present here. However, in your videos I do not find or missed the answers to the following questions:
    1. Old songs, published on yt years ago. Is there sense of making "full campaign" before putting it on spotify?
    2. Songs, that should succeed according to fans, but they don't. What strategy can be applied apart from "your new song help discover your old song"?
    3. Comparison of distributors for 2023. Which one seems to have best offer for bands vs producers who want to publish under more than one brand.
    Thank you for what you do here!
    Mark, Poland.

    great video! I appreciate you spending more time talking about the infancy stage cause I truly think that's the most difficult part (esp with Zuck tightening the algorithms of what used to be good platforms). the whole "what do I have to do to get complete strangers to press the play button and be surprised by what they hear" phase seems to be endless for a lot of us so more on that is always helpful. the 'cream' can't 'rise to the top' when zero people give it a chance outside of friends and family

    I absolutely LOVE your content as it articulates modern strategies in depth, strategies which are discussed in little depth elsewhere.
    It is, however, a little off-putting when you simultaneously condescend toward your audience’s intelligence (even if tongue-in-cheek) while not exactly being the most well-spoken chap yourself. Sharing your (brilliant) music marketing expertise with less unsubstantiated snobbishness would probably be more becoming. Cheers

    • @Musformation

      I hear the feedback, but lets be real here, part of why I get away with the ribbing my audience is my own flaws, its not to assert my dominance like some lame alpha influencer its to have fun that none of us are playing with the fullest deck. Trust me as someone whose day job is being the side kick on one of the most popular political shows in America and getting to talk to articulate geniuses all day I am highly conscious of my place in the level of well spoken.

    • @jordanj9069
      @jordanj9069 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Musformation I suppose I’ve never made the connection between acknowledging one’s own flaws and getting away with being condescending but now that you mention it, it makes some level of sense. Just didn’t see you acknowledge any flaws in this video.
      Personally I don’t find the condescending offensive, but it might off-put others who are more sensitive and I think your content deserves more eyes. It was genuine feedback. You know as well as I do how sensitive most musicians are and how quickly they’ll blow someone off for being ‘a dick.’ Doesn’t need to happen to you!

    Hey Jessie, just have a question!
    I have an alternate version of a track titled “Cheek” that I believe to be as good as it’s original. Like what you’ve mentioned I plan to release it around the 7 week mark after the release of the original. If what I believe is true (the alternate version is as good as I think) do you think it would be a good idea to extend the time in which the next single is released, giving said alternate version more time in the spotlight? Just concerned as I don’t want to lose the attention and momentum.

    I still have a question about the alternate versions. If I do drop one in week 7 that means I’d have pitched it to Spotify editorial already. So it wouldn’t be smart to have the next single come out 2-3 weeks later because you can only have 1 song pitched at a time. That’s not enough time for a new single right? Or are you saying the alternate version doesn’t need to be pitched?

  • @ryankheramusic
    @ryankheramusic ปีที่แล้ว +5

    Yo Jesee, another question regarding release strategy. Do you think you should have some extended time between album rollout cycles? For example, say you released 12 singles all 6-8 weeks apart and then lumped them into an album. Should you start with Song 1 on the next album just 6-8 weeks after the previous album "fully" dropped, or is it wise to have some months in between the last single on album 1 and the first single on album 2?

    Yo Jesse, I've got a question regarding many releases within a short time span. I've got my music planned out a few years in advance, (mostly 6-8 weeks between releases). I am doing to be doing my first album rollout starting soon, there will be 8 songs being released 6-8 weeks apart. After these are released, I am planning on releasing 6 remixes of those songs (spaced 1 month apart) before release new material to hopefully bring a bit more attention to those songs. What do you think of this?
    Also after these releases, I am planning on releasing 3 EPs + 2 singles (17 songs in total) all within a year of each other to have some new music to release between albums. These songs are not quite as strong as my "album" songs but I feel they are still strong enough to release, and there is a bit of a theme to them so I'd like to release all of those songs successively within a year. Do you think it would be wiser to release 1 song about every 3 weeks, or maybe release less frequently (like every 4-6 weeks) and have some releases where I release 2 songs at once?

    • @Musformation
      @Musformation  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Sounds great but the remixes would probably help more to do close to song release since it makes more sense to audiences and giving it new life.

  • @sidalientv

    Well, they are some kind of "zones in the shadow" about your video.
    1. You quoted that artists "disappear", when in fact an artist needs time to create, elaborate, and prepare his/her work to the public. It does not exists any "constant flux of creativity". Hence, it is absolute impossible to upload quality content under such conditions. Even more counting the time to make and edit a video, mastering etc.
    2. The concept of "consistent sustained promotion" works well in the theory. But in the reality, that ubiquity and omnipresence on the social media lead always either to a burnout or ending making stupid thing in order to "be there" as you said clearly in your tutorial. If it´s worth the time and effort put in the whole thing to be paid 500 dollars yearly is a topic to discuss.

    Jesse I watched your video again and I've got a question about the waterfall method. You mentioned that you should delete the old "waterfall" release after uploading your new one. Why is that? I've seen artists use this before and generally they will keep the old release as well. As far as I am aware, Spotify allows you to use the same song in multiple releases, so you don't actually have to delete the old releases. Am I missing something here?

    • @Musformation
      @Musformation  ปีที่แล้ว

      It’s actually distributor dependent what happens with this from what I know but I think you should also concentrate listeners to one optimal experience rather than muktiple

      @@Musformation Thanks for the quick response! This actually leads me to another question regarding deleting releases... I've heard from some people that if you choose to release singles and then lump them into an album at the end (via waterfall or just a single song at a time without using waterfall) that you should NOT delete the old singles and keep them instead, because apparently it may negatively effect the algorithm for some reason I don't quite understand... Do you have any insight on this? Maybe it has to do with playlist placements or something, like deleting the old link to your song may make your song no longer available on previous playlists you've been added to?

    Some people say editorial playlists are a waste of time because by getting on a playlist you gain plenty of listeners and then they drop off a cliff. Is this true?

    • @Musformation
      @Musformation  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      It’s true when you aren’t doing things right. But a lot of this channel and artists I know who do things right a playlist bump looks more like a wave. People also zoom in on their plays way too much. Every artist goes up and down at times no exceptions

    Nice video but it frustrating to suggest a new song every 8 weeks.. what if your not interested in learning software and you have to actually pay €80 an hour for studio time and an engineer.. that means your tracks are now costing over 6k a year.. that's a lot for an independent artist.. three releases is more realistic for me.. and even that is hard with three music videos also..
