      It's hard to care when there's nothing outright forbidding slavery in old or new testaments, bearing in mind everything from homosexuality to eating a goat Kidd which has been roasted in its own mother's milk was banned successfully, why not slavery?
      I mean, in a fit of racism, god said you can't enslave your fellow Hebrew. But it says mere verses later that you can buy and own gentiles as slaves.

    • @deeds7529
      @deeds7529 2 ปีที่แล้ว +36

      @@blacksmoke3113 slavery, known as servanthood, was a regular job in the OT. It was a job for the poorest of the poor to pay off their debt and earn a living. Sometimes, a forever home if their master (boss) loved them as family. OT slavery was not the evil of chattel slavery or graeco-roman slavery.

    • @rafayshakeel4812
      @rafayshakeel4812 2 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      With all due respect, but no one is interested about practicing Christians being against slavery in the past. The Bible itself supports and justifies slavery.
      Here is an example:
      "When a slaveowner strikes a male or female slave with a rod and the slave dies immediately, the owner shall be punished. But if the slave survives a day or two, there is no punishment; for the slave is the owner’s property."
      Exodus [21: 20]
      I've done my research and there is no context to this verse, which is pretty scary.
      May Allah (God) guide you to Islam, aka, the truth. Ameen!

      A system of medical centres already existed in Ancient Rome and Greece. The Greeks were the earliest pioneers in medicine. The Church only built upon what it inherited. I think that we are not giving credit wehte it is due. I find it despicable to forget who the real fathers of Western civilization are just because they were 'heathens'. I wonder what our civilization would look like without Christianity... This is a good thought experiment.

      @@Nexus-jg7evYes, Asclepius' temples were present in the past, but the idea of a charitable hospital, where poor people could recieve assistance for their illnesses, that is a thoroughly Christian idea. As for ignoring the Geeco-Roman heritage of the West, that's untrue, especiqlly if you take the 10 minites necessary to study your history. However, tje Greco-Romans were not egalitatians in any sense of the word, except for those who were free males, and even then, class and ethnic divisions often helped further divide the demos to allow plutocrats to rule.
