I just spoke with Mike on the phone. This guy is the real deal! Really awesome and helpful person. He gave me some advise on transporting a printer with a DX7 print head.
Yes sir, they have a gold surface similar to the dx7. The old coating would often flake off causing the nozzle orfice to deflect. www.sign-in-global.us/products/34230/roland_sv_lef2_300_dx4_inkjet_printhead_6000005180.html
@@reprint217 Ok, I have read the coated Roland DX4 printhead also called the ‘gold’ DX4 head is specially designed and coated for Roland VersaUV LEF printers. Will it also work on my SP540V printer? Thanks
Great to be able to see what's under that plate. Would love to see a talk about the DX7 - got one where, on a nozzle check, there are several rows of black missing all together in the center between the cyan. Has banding and pretty bad deflection. Probably time for a new head since multiple soaks, cleaning, dampers, captop and a flush didn't bring it back. If the inside of the DX7 is the same as the DX4 as you showed, those micro channels in the head are probably clogged and there would be no way to recover this without removing the plate. I believe you were planning to make a video about removing, cleaning, and re-sealing the nozzle plate on that head?
I've also removed the nozzle plate on the dx4 and reattached just to prove I could do it. Unfortunately the piezo crystals were weak and still printed like crap. Most DX7 printheads fail before their rated shot count so it is possible to reseal them. However wanted to make video on removeal before showing the process as I felt may be reckless to drop the video without proper knowledge of removeal
@@reprint217 Understandable. I’ll probably order the new head in the next several weeks. Was hoping to rip the head apart and try a repair before I swap it out.
Hi Mike, I have a Sp540i and 6 months ago I replaced both dx4 heads and both cuptops. Now the test shows me that I have several shifted nozzles on black and blue. I do manual cleaning regularly, but it seems to me that more and more nozzles are not in place. What should I do?
Hi Mike... I got unclogged one of my DX4 (M) but it seems to be dead. I can't find anything how to diagnose it for sure. It's unclogged, has new lines, new ink and still not working. It looks liki it don't get any signal to spit a drop. I switched cables with working DX4 (B) and had no reactions on (M) but (B) passed test print. Was that a final test or there is something I can check?
These heads are super sensitive. It happens with no rhyme or reason. Anytime cleaner is pushed threw, we take that risk of it not working. That was always my last resort. You can swap the cables from one side to another if the other channel is currently working. That should tell you if the channel is dead.
Hey Mike, I tried the syringe cleaning technic and after one channel of the printhead came, I sealed it so that it only pulls on the clogged channel. Problem now is, both channels have 80% of the nozzles working. But the last 20% just wont come because the syringe is filling up instantly via the open nozzles. Any tips on the last 20%? thanks in advance
Epson uses 3 types depending on the ink type (Waterbased, solvent, and UV) but most are really "runny" and hard to work with. Unfortunately those are the most durable but very very hard to work with. The 3rd is EPO-TEK 353nd which is easiest to work with and is a 2 part epoxy. After making this video, I was talked out of making the repair videos by some tech colleagues as the glue is costly, and you only have one chance at it. Myself as well as many others have been able to do it after ruining many heads first.
Water went into my motherboard so I had to buy another one during that time the printer was off but I always poured the cleaning solution every week or 2 can it go more than a year a still print again once my mother board is sorted.
Hi, perfect video very helpful. I am interested in cleaning liquid, do you also ship to Europe? You don't have that option on the website. Will it be on ebay? 😉
My solution is a mix between 3 parts oem cleaner and 1 part of the cheap eco solvent ebay cleaner. Ebay cleaner way to strong, oem cleaner not quite strong enough

Are the DX7 printheads for Mimaki CV150 from DigiPrint supply good?
Ive had good luck with digiprint they are my go to
Thanks for the great video, Just to be sure I heard correctly, you soak the head for a bit and then add suction ?
Yes, soak for atleast a few hours, I soaked for one day than left syringe on for 1 day

Usually a rinse and repeat process of soaks. Or now that it is mostly broke loose, gently syringe the head
@@reprint217 can I pull with the syringe on top of the head (where the dampers sit) while there is solvent in the captops? Or would you just push?

How long can I print head go without printing on average.
Depends on if it's plugged in cleaning. Too many variables
