These Platforms Are Loaded With Speckled Trout!! Back To The Jungle In My Jon Boat

I made it back out to these platforms in my 18ft Jon boat chasing Speckled Trout with a jig. Conditions have to be right, but I learned from my last trip that it pays off. I'm sure spots like this can be duplicated in other places, but I'm not sure it could be too much better. This technique is just called "tight lining." It simply means fishing a jig without a cork. I'm sure a cork would have been more efficient, but I just love to feel the strike!
    Notes Specific To This Video:
    1) If you have been watching my channel for any amount of time, you know I rarely keep my limit and do what I can to promote the sport of fishing over hauling meat. I don't use my ice chest or pictures of piles of fish to promote my videos, and I do not freeze fish and only keep what I have plans to cook fresh for my family and friends or plan to give to someone that will never have the chance to go catch their own fresh fish.
    2) I almost always give information about my general location and time/date of my trips. In this case, I have friends that fish this specific area, and with potentially thousands of people watching this video, I didn't want to be inconsiderate to them. The good news is the pattern matters a whole lot more than the specific location. I was on the coastline in South Louisiana about 1/2 mile off shore.
    On This Video -
    Trip Date: July 5, 2024
Location: South Louisiana (pretty much the Gulf of Mexico)
    Tide: Incoming
Jig Rod 1: FItzgerald 7' Med Hvy
Jig Rod 2: Johnny Morris 7' Med
    Jig Reel: Shimano Curado 7.4:1
Primary Jig Lure: Matrix Shad "Magneto"
Line: Main line 20lb braid, Leader 15lb Fluro
    #louisianafishing #speckledtrout #inshorefishing
How to fish artificial lures. Speckled trout fishing. Red drum redfish fishing. Inshore fishing. Louisiana fishing. Twitch baits. Jerk baits. Jig fishing. Fishing baitcasters. soft plastic lures
I fish artificial lures and mostly in the marshes and lakes on the east side of the Mississippi River in South Louisiana for Speckled Trout, Redfish, and Largemouth Bass. These videos are rough edited so I can show them within a few days of the trip and because I don't know how to edit videos. If you fish in the same areas I do, this might give you some idea of current conditions and fish activity. If you have a similar channel, leave me a comment so I can check it out.

Thanks for watching! If you have questions about the fish I kept on this trip or my location, take a look at the notes in the video description. Good luck to everyone out there doing what we love and chasing these fish in the best fishery on earth (in my opinion).

Days like this is why I carry a double rig. It helps with the distance, helps with the fall, and you double up on 18-19" its a blast. Obviously its all fun.

@Jar_Fishing I just take some 20 lb. leader(about 3 ft. Tie it in half with one end long than the other, toss 2 jigheads on and tie my braid to the loop. Works like a charm.

@@nathanankersen4695 So just to give you something to think about - I contend that a double rig does not fall any faster than a single rig and might actually fall slower. Think about what is happening as it is going through the water. Counter intuitive but I am pretty sure it is correct.

      @nathanankersen4695 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

@billrobinson576 you probably right. Physics says that they would fall at the same rate however they are hitting the water at a higher velocity which would accelerate their descent, atleast initially.

I bet you would be more comfortable with what is considered a left handed bait casting reel. You would than have the pole in your dominant hand, the right hand, and it wouldn’t be so awkward . You would reel with your left hand, but reeling is easy with either hand. Try it Bubba, you’ll never go back.

If I had to guess I’d say either out of cocodrie or empire areas, could be wrong, but it also could be out past the long rocks out of hopedale, pushing close to the Chandeleur Islands. It’s definitely somewhere offshore. Only reason I mentioned out of hopedale is because he mentions a 19 mile boat ride. That’s close to those island out past the long rocks, but cocodrie and empire areas have a lot of those smaller wells too.
