Back in the day we would hit the Wagon Wheel with a cast net for finger mullet right before dark. Then head out after midnight to the Rigs north of Breton. Central rigs were huge. The trout are too.
Venice has been killing them lately, glad to see you got to get in on the fun mr. Todd. Living vicariously through you while at work once again lol keep up the great videos.
That's mind blowing..I don't even know if I'd want to fish out there, it would spoil me..I think I'd never want to fish my local waters again for trout!
Unpopular opinion, so please don’t flame me too bad. If the state would lower the limit to say, 15 fish PP at 15” length, Louisiana would likely see a trout fishery the likes you have never seen. With the amount of bait, those fish could get to 30” like we get here in Texas, but in stupid numbers.
The reason we have the 12 inch limit is because all of the 15-25 inch trout come and spawn in the marsh and in the bays, the reason we don’t have 30 inchers is because once they get past that 25 inch mark they go out to Texas or they go the other way towards Mississippi Alabama and Florida
Actually, speckled trout are extremely estuary-loyal, with most dying in the same basin in which they were born. There are exceptions, obviously. I documented one in my book that was tagged near Grand Isle and recaptured on the Florida panhandle. Why Louisiana doesn't grow trout as big as some of the other states is a matter of debate among biologists. In my view, the aggressive commercial menhaden fishery in Louisiana puts a cap on both speckled trout size and numbers.
@@MarshManMasson to go along with what you are saying is something I very much agree with. I understand ppl who aren’t from here want to experience the Louisiana experience but I think charter fishing trips and especially bowfishing charter trips should be extremely limited compared to what a regular person should be able to take home on limits. Even a regular person with a bowfishing rig shouldn’t be allowed to have the standard limit as a rod and reel limit. Before the keyboard warriors have a fit I personally have a bowfishing rig we don’t over a 3per person limit on reds even though we can shoot many more.
I think coast wide, if the trout community had a “bass fishing” mindset of catching and releasing for sport, we’d see an uptick in the quality of speckled trout. It’s worth a shot. The regulations right now aren’t working.
I'll be dammed if i drive to Venice for a freaking red fish...we fish freshwater bayou. Specks on the outside, large mouth bass and reds inside.. No guide required 😆
You wade fishing? If so, don't get out of the boat until you see bait. It seems obvious, but some people get eager and start fishing, even if they don't see any prey. Good luck!
Todd Kind of off topic but did you have anything to do with the marsh romance bug spray? I remember you were a big advocate for the amber romance for noseeums.
North Carolina ,Speckel trour , they let the camerciel fisherman catch 75,14 inch fish and the rec.fish catch 4 fish. why would you want you reduce the number of fish a rec.fisherman can catch. It got to be a problen with our Goverment. People with a fishing Pole are not the problem.
not completely agreeing on the only place on the planet comment. we wack em better fish than those here in texas on some spots on some days. in and around the surf for sure better than in the bays. on live bait lots and lots over 25" . but best trip ive seen you on since i been watchin ur channel
Great day of fishing right there! I would have kept my limit though cause my family loves fish. 🎉
Went fishing with capt. Triston on Saturday - best charter I’ve taken. Some monsters
That’s a goooood boy bobby
He told me about that trip. Glad y'all got on 'em!
Thank you for putting the date!!!!!
Really helps figure add some context to the buoy data.
Trying to get better with remembering lol
That was a great episode from the first cast! Kudos to you guys just doing a little tag and releasing.
I'm sure you chuckled a few times over how excited we got about 22-inch trout lol
@@MarshManMasson heck no! I was pumped…shoot I wish I was in that boat with you guys. Keep ‘em coming bud

Marsh man gonna be out there in that bass boat next video 😮😮
Awesome trip Todd ! Tristan put you on some great fish !
Def early for those trout to be that thick on the rigs. Nice fish as usual! Love how you throw nothing but artis 👍

Brings back so many memeories of Venice and Cocodrie....love how the other boat kept letting out more rope.
They are some great fish to catch. Looked like a lot of fun out there.
That's mind blowing..I don't even know if I'd want to fish out there, it would spoil me..I think I'd never want to fish my local waters again for trout!
One of those days when you get the bait back to the bite without a strike, and you wonder what's going on.
The water here in Fort Myers sucks and I dont have a boat I'm stuck onshore with what's left after Hurricane Ian. Water is always dirty and no fish

Dude the limit is 25 pp and they have to be 12" that isnt bad
Awesome trip and great video!!!! Thanks for sharing!!!!
That’s some great trout action.
Awesome fish, triple tail really good eating
That’s some nice troat with capt triston

Triston is the goat!!
Capt tris is the best!!!❤❤❤
Lol come to the Eastern shore Va in the fall if you really wanna see a lot of big trout!
Speckled Triston does it again
We’ve caught a lot of fish on THAT rig!!!😊😊 Out of a BlueWave! Awesome boats…..
what rigs are those? the canary rigs out of Baptiste Collette?
Ban the guides , ban the guides , ban the guides : whose with me ?
Awesome Trip! You guys hammered them! I fish out of Lake Charles …couple rigs 5miles out of Cameron ….how far out are those rigs?
I'd be cooking those up man
You must of never been to Galveston when the trout are on fire in the surf !
Just had a coworker show me pics of his weekend around Sarasota FL...over 60 trout on the day lol! Dang me working weekends, ridiculous
That's a great trip for Florida. I fish a bit around Perdido, and the size of the fish has us beat but not the numbers.
Best speckle trout with a bum

West is best
What a day. Nice. I’m gonna be down at chandeleur in a week or so for 4 nights Any tips for guy trying to have great time with some trout and reds?

Will be there from the 17th to the 21st. I will be bringing wade gear but will be fishing from the boat mostly.
What rig is it?
Sweet video. What glasses are you wearing?
Wiley X
Great day of quality fish. ....I'd kept a few to put in the deep fryer. Ahhh Ehhhh !!
@MarshManMasson how deep was the water at that first rig?
Believe it or not, I didn't even check, but based on the time it took the bait to get down, I'd guess 15-20
@@MarshManMasson so y’all were using a popping cork in 15-20? Was it set up as a slip rig?
Todd
Kind of off topic but did you have anything to do with the marsh romance bug spray?

I'd like to take credit for it -- the stuff works extremely well -- but I had nothing to do with creating it.
Where did u launch
How well do that blue wave ride? Thinking about getting one
Like a dream, you won’t find a better ride
@@tristonelston7921 what’s a trip that that run?
Where can I find this captain triston Elston online.
We need some shirts Ban the guides , and ban fishing with a rod and reel for a living
9:02 pigfish
I had ones upper lip fall out on me
What’s the purpose for tagging them?
To see where they go and how much they grow.
That beeping is driving me nuts!
Maybe try switching to decaf
@@MarshManMasson lol! I don’t even drink coffee! Great video though! Pure tanks!
East bay?
These guides are ruining our fishing , when money gets involved it’s the root of all evil
Why Tag ?
What boat is that
Looked like a Blue Wave 2400 pure bay but I’m just guessing
So if another angler catches one of those tagged fish.. I take it they are supposed to release it correct..
that beeper sucks

Dude sharpen that HOOK!!!!!!!!!!!!!
There's two things I know about MO MO: He never misses fish, and he LOVES HIS CAPS LOCK!
Years ago we delt with gill nets and now we need to limit the captains , go get a real job bro
Cut the 25 trout limit per person , cut out keeping the captains limit too
Cut the number of guides (captains) stop writing out and giving out captain licenses , WLF
Someone in disabled people around that would love to eat some fresh fish I did not watch catch-and-release shows that is so stupid
Your reel bearing's dont sound to good
Captains are a ruination of our recreational fishing
my god if youre going advertise monsters at least catch one not all babies
Total bs it’s possible we have too many captains
Stop lying bro

Guides that actually target trout in Venice stay on fish like that everyday of the year bud, its sick out there they stay filling the boat
