    As an 03 designation that spent many years in the back of an AAV cursing the crew members, thank you Marines for all you did and do.

      @Brianna Taylor Back when I served they only lived on ships during deployment's when the LHA or LST was at sea. Navy folks really don't like Marines on their ships. We bought all their Pogey bait in the ship store, we eat all the food in the mess hall and we were always in their gym working out. Oh and we contributed nothing, other than the occasional walking the flight line or well deck.

    I originally was going to go into the Marines Amphibious Assault back in 1992 when joining the military. I then discovered SEAL and Ranger contracts prior to signing. I ended up in the Ranger Regiment. This video brings back memories about what I researched about Amphibious Assault back then.

      Nothing special really to qual...and like most MOS's in the Corps just stay fit and absorb the training.

    Other than the United States Marine Corps General Dynamics M-1A1HC Abrams Main Battle Tanks and M-1150 Assault Breacher Vehicles, the Amphibious Assault Vehicle P7-A1s, R7-A1s, and C7-A1s are my favorite vehicles in the USMC. I hope they keep these and give them the SUP kits to keep them going. I like the new ACVs but they shouldn't replace the AAVs with them!

    Amphibious school thats cool for USMC. I dont know how its setup in USMC but I would put all this with infantry in USMC. Are all the guys infantry too that are drivers? I was relating this to mechanized infantry in US Army. Mortars, M2 Bradley (mechanized) drivers/gunners are all infantry. Is it not like this in USMC as infantry in the amphibious units?

    The AAV can barely float. It lacks the firepower of a 30mm cannon. Any improvements to survivability detract from mobility and firepower by reducing the amount of rounds carried, etc. The Soviet era BMP-2 is a better vehicle all around, has more firepower, and it still floats!

    • @jackwhite4091
      @jackwhite4091 5 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    • @joshr8235

      The AAV diffently needs upgrading...and moving to a wheeled 'modern' varient (which is happening but with very limited numbers) is promising but its ass (old AAV) won't explode like the BMP did that carries its fuel on the back hatch, though I imagine the newer versions must've corrected that by now. Crew exhaustion is also a serious factor with armour...something the Russians are notorious for.
      As you know, 'Tracks' desperately require armour/air support to survive. Whenever we attempted to operate in training against LAV's we 'died' to the vehicle, total massacre every time when standing alone as a unit or dispersed. A moral crusher to say the least.

    I am a disabled Marine. I was an 1833. My schools was in camp Pendleton. I was top of my class and for that I was able to pick my duty station. I chose koneoa bay Hawaii in 1980. At that time it was where the elite Marines were stationed. Every deployment was out of Hawaii for combat and West Pac over seas duty. As a tracker you had to be the best swimmer in the corps and the toughest, smartest and meanest. An amphibious assault crewmen is hardcore and we are trained to fight in the seas and on land. We are elite infantry trained to do anything in combat. I am shocked to see women in my Marine corps unit. What the hell have the left, communist, socialist, homosexual, transgender, misfits done to the Marine Corps. What the hell is leading the corps now? Self-serving fake marine dressed up like a women or just a coward who thinks his job is more important than the corps. I feel it's time to shut the Marine Corps down because you have destroyed it.

      When you said you’re a disabled marine you should’ve clarified that you are mentally disabled.

      Paul Gerlack ... just one thing to point out about the Corp that makes it different from the other branches... when the word came down from the president and pentagon that all military has to start integrating women in almost all service roles the Marines were the only ones with the balls to push back and say “ok. A marine is a marine, doesn’t matter what is between its legs.” So ALL marines, men and women, have to meet the same physical, emotional and educational standards for whatever MOS they are going for. In the Marines there is no separate standard for women. If a woman wants an MOS she has to be there doing it all right next to all the guys. Like the woman in this video said, she had a real prob with the physical parts of the job and the instructors were on her night and day until she bulked up enough that she could handle the weight just as much as the guys.
      I really admire and respect the Marines for doing that. A Marine is a Marine. They all have to meet the same standard and perform at the same level.

      Paul Gerlack I was a tracker in K-Bay and I hope to fucking god we weren't considered elite. Water driving could get sketchy but fun as hell! The rest of your post is crap.
