I recently bought three of these to replace my older U2414h which were great for 9 years straight. They're perfect replacement for my DisplayPort daisy chain setup, just like the previous U2414h.
This is an attractive choice. I briefly owned the G2724D, but was unhappy with the look/calibration of the picture in sRGB mode and its poor uniformity, plus I think 24" 1080p + standard gamut & actual calibration is more my thing. The Ultrasharps have been 8 ms, 60 hz for a LONG time. I'm happy to finally see 120 hz in one to match 24 fps and 30 fps content. Very nice silver aesthetics too.
The alternatives are not quite replacements. These Ultrasharps can be daisy-chained with DisplayPort cables. I actually prefer running three like this than a single curved one, for that 5760x1080 goodness.
I personally like more asus proart monitors design, their back part is nice, I don't like much that "flat" back Dell's monitors have, not because I think it's ugly, but because I like when it's kinda square or something. Anyway, I still like Dell's design a lot and those two new ultra sharps are awesome.
Jacob, do you think the current sale price of $380 CAD is good? I have a U2417H, this seems a bit better in colour coverage and does 120 hz - two things I wanted - not sure what else it brings for me practically. The silver looks are an improvement. I'd run the sRGB preset, maybe less blue light emitting? I'm not into ComfortView if that compromises accuracy. Contrast should be more or less the same?
I'm not a gamer , BUT bought the DELL Ultrasharp U3223QE 4K Monitor for $720 on sale over the blk Friday from Amazon & just arrived today gonna set it up tomorrow with my NEW XPS desktop G13/i9 cant wait! 32" is new 27" now!~
Hello Jacob, could you give me your opinion in my case? I just bought a asus proart pa247cv for roughly the same price as a UltraSharp u2424h, but found it extremely uncomfortable due too the image being too grainy. Do you think I would have this same issues with another's full hd monitors? I'm seriously considering returning the asus and getting a dell to try and see if its more compatible with the Mac even tough looking only at technical specs its almost the same...
I have this doubt, because the Asus has a color fidelity certificate and it is important for my photography and video work. But the Dell Ultrasharp u2424h is cheaper and seems to be good, even though it does not have some professional specifications that the Asus offers...
Great review. I like your no-nonsense straight-to-the-point approach! Now I’m looking forward to your review of the U2724D(E) which occupies the top spot of my shortlist so far, but I can’t pull the trigger not knowing how good it will perform in AdobeRGB Color Space.
@@JacobDarkOfficial Thanks for the update. It’d be awesome if you could touch on the Adobe RGB coverage as it seems to tick all other boxes for a mixed-use setup (as in content creation and hobbyist gaming). Some users on Reddit already reported that it not only supports VRR over HDMI 2.1 (as per the spec sheet) but seems to be also compatible with Gsync and Freesync via DisplayPort even though the latter two aren't advertised.
1080p and 1440p monitors are not Ultra Sharp more like Slightly Sharp 😅 I owe an older Dell Ultra Sharp 4K 60Hz p2715q looking to replace it with something modern for photography work but unfortunately, nothing is available in 32in 4K IPS and 120Hz space at the moment. Most professional monitors are 60Hz hopefully that going to change in 2024
Ha, the new Dell SortaKindaMaybeSharp? Yea I had the top of the line BenQ SW321C when I was more active in photography and even that was 60Hz considering the $2,000 price tag
I always thought they were talking about color fidelity, and i still think so. They couldn't even fool someone that knows the bare minimum about monitors with this At best some old people, so in my perspective that's the more logical conclusion.
@michikatsu8505 I just kidding this is just Dell's marketing. Porsche calls some fully electric cars Turbo as well. Nothing these days makes sense anymore.
I’m planning on buying this monitor for my M1 MacBook Air, is it recommended? Or is it a bad combo? (I will use it only for web browsing and using Word/Excel, but will be my main display since I plan on keeping the MacBook lid closed)
@@JacobDarkOfficial Thanks for the reply! Have you ever tried your connecting your MacBook on this display? Noticed any scaling issues or blurry text with it?
Hello, my friend. "Um salve" from Brazil! Would you recommend this as a second monitor just for coloring videos? I work with videos, and I need at least a decent monitor for that, and the price difference for brazilians, talking about other brands that you recommend on that, are a HUGE problem (I'm talking about 3 times the price).
There are no controls to turn off ComfortView Plus. Does this "feature" add a very subtle bluish tint to your monitor? And typical users don't have a Spyder5Pro to calibrate their monitor. Do you use a Preset Mode for all your main monitors, or do you calibrate them using Spyder5Pro? And I don't know if this is typical, but this monitor has some huge air vents on the top side of the monitor, while older models had smaller air vents on the backside, not the top.
It uses a low blue light panel instead of the old crappy method of changing colour channels to reduce blue light. It is always on, yet doesn't affect colour accuracy. Yeah, the air vents are larger (I had a U2417H), but it barely gets warm anymore
@@JarrettWalksOttawa Probably the reason why it can't be turned off electronically, is because they physically applied a blue-light coating filter to the monitor screen. So, it's on there permanently, and can't be removed. But, Dell did not describe it as such, so I feel I was being intentionally mislead into thinking this was a "technology" that could be turned on/off and not a stupid blue-light filter.
I just purchased this monitor. From an input lag stand point it’s super good. I play competitive so, I prefer instantaneous response over the graphic quality. With that said I’m currently trying to figure out how to make the graphics as decent as possible. I’m not sure how to actually make it look visually appealing but, if I can’t do so honestly it’s not going to be a deal breaker for me. I might try a Alienware monitor if this doesn’t work out
@@IbrahimKjr-t1l Thank you so much. And what would you recommend if graphics quality is more important? I am currently checking Asus ProArt series, but I get sick because of their model names are confusing.
@@vyem7283 I like the Samsung Odyssey 27” 240 Hz monitor. But, I noticed a slight input lag delay with this monitor. I’m going to try out the Alienware AW2523HF to see how it performs.
