Really like this boat. Great for inland and costal cruising. I would go for the Hybrid to get the best of both worlds. Also thank you for including the prices. Please try and include this whenever you do a review.
It's time Greenline did some redesigning of this boat. Jack has pointed out some flaws. I'd like to see a negative angle windshield, lots more fuel capacity & get rid of those cheap latch bolts on the rear platform !!
This is well smart Jack, I would choose this version as tested but with a couple extra windscreen wipers and fake teak decking and ladder attachment for the swim platform, really like this one. 👍❤️🇬🇧
A nice usable boat which would be a perfect starter boat and the level of equipment it has makes it good value for money boat also , so yes it ticks my boxes
Thank very much and congratulations you for detailed test ! It is an extremely interesting boat! It has been around for over 10 years. It is quite difficult to find a 40' shaft drive ! Many boat users dream the reliability and lower maintenance cost of a shaft-drive but they are very difficult to find ! This boat also gets a new life with the new 2.8 liter Yanmar Engines! The previous Volvo Penta D3 were, in my opinion, a bit light and they were turning at 4000 rpm a bit too much for a cruising/trawler type of boat. This engine has a much better torque so in addition to better high speed above all you get a much better cruising speed of 16-18 knots! With the same or lower fuel consumptions. The only downside after 10 years they could improve a bit the look of the boat ... is looking a bit too much like a river boat. Maybe change the windscreen make it in just one or 2 pieces change some port, etc (make it a bit more like the 39). A for the boat options... do not worry when you will ask the details you will see that unfortunately you will add another EUR 100k to the final bill.
Boating is one area where electric is incomparably better, ie quieter, torquier, more comfortable, less maintenance etc. Suspect the transition in boating will be quicker than most expect
Profile looks really nice, needs stabilisers and more wipers...having 1 wiper is nonsense...agree about trim tab location, needs storage under helm seat and more rfd screens...other than that, bloody brilliant.
Wonderful review. I would go with the hybird. It's bland and unoffensive much like it's competition. The Beneteau and Nimbus are just as bland. In fact the only attractive 40 footer I can think of is an old Princess V 40. If you want to step up you go to the Nordhavn 41, which sits about a million, and wait a few years to get one. It would be a great boat for the North American Great Loop. There are hundreds of miles of old canals, though nothing like Europe which has thousands, and the electric drive would be great there with low speed limits. Then the Great Lakes and and you can pound around at full speed in those. From Florida you can get to the Bahamas or up and down the coasts. This would be great on the Mississippi. I don't think it could make it to Bermuda - which is 600ish miles off the US coast.
It wasn't noticeable at the time, I have to say. Could be made worse by the microphone but, as you saw, it wasn't something I felt needed commenting on - Jack
I'd definitely take a marex over this. It's certainly not what you'd call a looker and the lack of cup holders on the dash (6 fitted on the front deck though) and only 1 windscreen wiper are slightly stupid omissions. The cockpit is so small they didn't even try to fit seating and a table so one of the main joys of boating (sitting out in the early evening with a nice glass of something and some food) is taken away from you. As always, a great review Jack thanks.
Very Corsica esk styling….on the exterior! Interior, and I am sorry, late 70’s North American RV finish! Please tell there are many more options? Comprehensive and unbiased review! Some areas are a bit tight, but for the money is always the question? Thanks for that one!
Specs on-screen state 400L fuel capacity but the narrative states 700L. That's a big discrepancy. Shaft drive, but are the shafts and props protected by keels ? Skegs are mentioned but can the boat safely be allowed to dry out between tides ?
Got a great idea. Let’s create a great video talking about the Greenline 40 and then distort the speech with daft needless background music. I wear hearing aids and it just merges into noise for me.
it has to be said that the exterior styling (particularly the uprights supporting the overhang in the area of the cockpit) is not good looking. second - there is absolutely nothing eco-conscious about the use of lithium and cobalt in mass-manufacture of batteries. i truly wish companies would stop this deception wrapped in a "green" wrapper. especially when you have to turn on the generator to charge the batteries. not a fan of the bow-high attitude either. that said they are coming along. A few more design refinements (I think Jack pointed out most of the shortcomings) and they will have a solid vessel with the twin yanmars.
I have been following Greenline for 5+ years! INCREDIBLE BOAT BRAND!
I love the “pillars” at the stern, makes it look like yacht from the seventies 😊

Will do, Clive, thanks for watching.

Ideal, for my future plans of canal touring!
Great review Jack. Full of detail and clear feature description.
You absolutely love your fiddled edges jack 😆
Lovely boat, fantastic review 🤙
Can’t beat a good fiddled edge. Glad you like it, Tony, thanks! - Jack

Excellent review Jack and appreciate your honest comments. I rather like this boat and would go for the Hybrid version given the choice.
Thanks Nick! - Jack
Love this boat! We have the 39 hybrid and are very happy with it.
I’m considering this boat to replace my Princess V40. Can you tell me what the internal width of the salon is?
Thank very much and congratulations you for detailed test !

There are approx 60 line of possible options to close from.
And off course: 2 x additional windshield wipers with washers (left and middle windshield)
Great tour of the Greenline.. Great work Jack..
Thanks! - J

Great to see you Jack! Great review!

Looking forward Ferretti 580 Review 👏
Great review, as usual. Bizarre thinking on the one wiper blade and positioning of the trim tabs.
Good value boat.

This is what I am talking about!
Interesting concept for them. But the styling is not really my fav. Thanks for sharing and touring it

Seems like a very nice boat, and good review. Could you comment on noise levels while cruising? In the video it sounds quite loud.
It wasn't noticeable at the time, I have to say. Could be made worse by the microphone but, as you saw, it wasn't something I felt needed commenting on - Jack
Great video. Was the sunroof unavailable because they chose solar panels, or can both the sunroof and solar panels both be installed?
You can have both, this boat just didn’t have the roof.
Hey Nick, another great video. Do you have a date to sea trial the Princess V50 yet? 😊
Nick? 🤔😉
@@Yachtbuyer Thanks Jack 😆 You are my favourite I promise. Nick at Aqua a close second. Do the V50 test and I’ll promise to keep it that way 🙂
🤣, no worries! Will do our best for the V50 - Jack
Seems like they have a few wrinkles to iron out, but otherwise a lovely simple boat.
That drivetrain is really noisy! Maybe more insulation in the engine compartment would help? Otherwise, it seems a lovely craft!

It's okay but dated, the Greenline 45 is a much nicer and far more versatile boat, hope you have a tour and test of that coming soon.
We certainly do… 👍
@@Yachtbuyer 😊
The fuel capacity.. is it 700 LT like you said? Or 400 LT like it is written? This creates a confusion on fuel consumption calculation
It’s 700, the graphic is wrong - apologies.
le bateau semble être tres bruyant non? = the boat seems to be very noisy no?
What CE category is it with 4-6 people?
Cat B for 10 persons, Terry.
@@Yachtbuyer better and better!

Boy do the engines sound loud
so cheap i like it
The range is 20nm? Say what?
On electric power only, if you have the hybrid version.
Specs on-screen state 400L fuel capacity but the narrative states 700L. That's a big discrepancy. Shaft drive, but are the shafts and props protected by keels ? Skegs are mentioned but can the boat safely be allowed to dry out between tides ?
Good spot, our mistake in the data, it is 700 litres.
Horrendous noisy engine. You can tell how enjoyable is he silence in 4:15 without the unbearable humming

No where near enough range.
Great tour, not a fan of the boat though. Looks pretty ugly and quite a few aspects that could be a lot better
Plenty more boats coming that might be more to your taste!
I like the "perch" seat 😁 is that area for a pet parrot 🦜
