    That pretty much covers what I’ve carried for years. Knife selection being slightly different for personal preference. The only big add is some form of nutrient rich bar. Kind or similar to cover that sudden crash in energy on a long stalk or pack out.
    Great stuff Randy, thank you for sharing your experiences and hunts.

    Randy, the electricians tape that you carry can also be used as a make shift band aid along with the other ways you described.

      After many hours of research, I've decided to buy the Horn Hunters Full Curl System

    Thank you for the videos on what you use on your hunts. Is the Montana elk hunt on TH-cam or did I miss it? Thank you

    I'd like to know more about the rifle carry sling/setup on your pack. Is it capable to switch for a lefty? Is it something a guy can customize or adapt to fit existing gear? I didn't get a good look at it in this video but was intrigued since I can't carry anything on my shoulders without it slipping off. Thankfully I've got a good scope. Carried that rifle in one hand or the other for 35 years. Would like to do something different in the remaining ones....thanks.

      It is a gun bearer. You can use it for right or left. Hard to beat a hands free set up where you can use trekking poles.

    Looks just like what I carry, except I carry extra batteries for my GPS and flashlights. I also carry multiple compact led flashlights, jerky, wasabi almonds, m&m's (ha ha), folding meat saw, extra ammo, etc.

      Oh, I always have extra batteries. My GPS takes the same batteries as my audio system, so I am usually carrying a dozen with me. I forgot to add that. M&Ms are the food of champions. Good call on those. Best of luck this season.

    Randy, what trekking poles are you using? do you think they will support a 250lb guy with a loaded pack?

    • @Fresh_Tracks
      @Fresh_Tracks  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Leki Corklights. Yes, they will support you. Good luck.

    Hi Randy - thanks for the videos. Curious to know if those are MR side pockets on your pack belt or custom? Thanks!

      @Fresh_Tracks  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Those are made by MR. They are really helpful. Thanks for watching.

    for a late October rifle bull hunt, what calls do you use?

    • @Fresh_Tracks
      @Fresh_Tracks  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      None. If I hear calling then or during most any rifle hunt, I sneak in toward the sounds I hear. Calling then only alerts then that you are nearby. Good luck.

    Where do you pack your spotting scope and tripod?

    • @Fresh_Tracks

      Spotter in my Mystery Ranch Metcalf pack and tripod strapped to the side.

    Randy just curios , you ever use any kind or sled to pack animals out of a difficult spot and have you ever used rope an pulleys to manipulate a deer or Elk out of a bad spot so you could start the field dressing and breaking down processes . BTW I love your angle on hunting. common scene stuff. I appreciate it we don't see it enough out there.

    • @Fresh_Tracks
      @Fresh_Tracks  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      No, we just use backpacks. Far easier that hauling a lot of other stuff. Once you get the hang of it, packing them out is not as bad as it seems. Thanks for watching.

    do you take an elk decoy with you?

    • @Fresh_Tracks
      @Fresh_Tracks  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Never on a rifle hunt. Sometimes on an archery hunt.

    • @fjosephstockbridge5592

      thanks, I'm a bow hunter and had an elk come in at less than 30 yards almost straight at me and I couldn't move to draw on him because he was looking right past me. I was thinking if I'd had a decoy to distract him, I might have had a better chance of getting away with some motion drawing my bow.
