I have too many good thinks to say about your videos: Your personality (for what I can see) is unique. Your voice is pleasurable You have a magnificent, clear pronunciation, I can understand every single word you say. Your comments are very objective. I don’t feel the video is that long CONGRATULATIONS!!
You should not stick to one topic only, like for cruise workers.. If you would do other general topic, or cruise advice for clients that would be great. Whatever you talk about, even that it doesn't interest me about working on a cruise, I still watch it because it's so relaxing to watch u talking about topics.
I’ll definitely try to expand my topics in the future. That’s actually why I called it “Coffee with Sean” I didn’t want to limit myself with what I could talk about. But I’m definitely still in the beginning stages. Thank you so much for your support!
When Sean said “it’s like you’re trapped in a big box in the ocean.” It reminded me of the episode of Sponge-bob when he and Patrick where playing in the boxes 📦😂📦
wow, thank you so much for taking the time to make all these videos. Am considering working on a cruise ship as a singer and I find myself watching more and more of your videos coz they are just so personalized and informative. keep it up
Lindsay Harmon I have been there once. We stopped there when my second ship repositioned to Seattle. I got up super early to see the ship go underneath the Golden Gate Bridge. It was awesome. Dan Francisco is a super cool city.
Wow man- Thanks so much for this info!! I've been researching about being a solo musician on a cruise ship for some time and I NEVER even thought about the grooming aspect till now. I like your attitude! Glad I came across your vids. Thanks again...
Musicians and artists and acts and performers are also less forced with the tattoos and stuff. They are aware of the "look" that artist have. So as a musician you won't be as scrutinized about your body art or piercings. To an extent. You still have to look like you care, you know
As somebody who has cruised (only 3 times but still) I have to say that i have never complained about any of the staff that I encountered on the ships. I don't even like going to guest services because I feel like I am taking their time away from their job. But I understand what you are saying because there are an awful lot of entitled people out there in the world. Or maybe I was just fortunate to get the best all the time. Well, that didn't happen but I figure that everybody can have an off day. The people that do this work have my respect.
I kinda chuckled at your comment about Tattoos, I just watched a video with extensive face time with the ED on a Princess ship and he had some great art on both arms.
Starting to think I may not have a chance working on a ship with all my visible tattoos on my arms and the big one on my chest lol 🤦♀️ would they find a sugar skull tattoo on my arm offensive??
Sean Price sure man! Btw you look so much better with beard:), and in my case I just can't have them just because I am asian:) hahaha. I am going on the Magic this coming April 3rd:) when is your next contract? See you in ports:)
Hi sean, was just hired with carnival elation, canaveral,USA as a casino dealer am going to join next month this will be my first contract and m very blind. so, any advice please😀. And i love your channel very very much.
It would definitely depend on your job. I grew my hair out onboard and kept it in a manbun. No one had issue with it. However I was in the entertainment department, and I was a tech. So I didn’t have a whole lot of guest facing duties. If you work in food/beverage at all you likely won’t be allowed to have long hair. But I have seen other people in other parts of the entertainment department with long hair as well.
nicocata777 nah man. You’re golden. Facial hair is fine just fine. Just make sure it looks like you care. If you look homeless or lazy, that’s never a good look. Trim it up and good luck! Let me know how it goes
There’s always a barber onboard in the spa. And crew usually can get hair cuts on a port day if it’s not busy. But also on every ship I was on, there was always a crew member down in the crew area that would cuz people’s hair for cheap.
ey Sean love your vids dude. i am about to apply and go for training for a cruise ship job.. i do have dreads which is like just above my neck. will that be a problem?
Kompressor2007 Royal Caribbean is probably at the top when it comes to big passenger cruise lines. But then you can start getting into “luxury” cruises. So NCL bought Regent Deven Seas and they are a Luxury line. But if you are looking at working on Luxury ship your ship life will be different. Kompressor2007 I’m not sure, actually. I would assume you can make a little more money. But I haven’t done too much research on Luxury cruise line work.
Hi. I've been watching some of your videos on TH-cam and so far this one's my favorite. Regarding of having a long hair, are there any exceptions if you're a transgender woman? Or is it even possible for a transgender woman to work on a cruise? I've been dreaming of working on a cruise for a long time now but I think I'm not able to achieve that dream just because of my gender identity. Hope you notice and reply to my comment. Coffee With Sean omg! Really? Thank you so much for the reply. I went to an agency here in the philippines and told them my situation. At first, they didn't believed that I am a transgender woman because I really look feminine. I showed them my birth cert and id's and they told me that I have to cut my hair and must wear the mens uniform. I really appreciate your reply, Sean. This really gives me hope to achieve my cruise dream!
Hello I have an interview with Norwegian for the pride of America do you have any advice as far as nailing the interview things I should speak about besides work history and former Navy time
Luciano Classical Guitar you go to the medical center and they give you a check up. And you may spend 24 hours there. They may quarantine you to you room for a few days if you’re really sick
Shania Vincent I think you’d be good as long as you kept it nice. I find that if your hair looks “deliberate” then no one says anything. Only if you look like to rolled out of bed and we’re late for work and your hair was a mess would people maybe find issue. But if your hair looks like what you are doing with it is on purpose, people won’t even notice it.
JustDW dover absolutely. You can go to the spa. But sometimes there are crew member down in the crew areas who now how to cut hair. So you should be fine just fine
Helen Lang haha Sorry Helen. I drink to much coffee to go through and edit all the sounds out. Just take a sip of yours with me and you’ll never even notice :)
Hey Sean, do you have tips on the cover letter/resume or interview? I am very nervous. I want to apply and I have 2 lines in mind and a couple of positions. but I don't want to waste my opportunity by doing a bad interview. (If I even got one)
nagham meqari for your Cover letter and resume focus a lot on customer service. Anything you can use to show you are great with people and customer service is good. For the interview process it’s all the same as on land. For me it seemed they were more making sure I was a real person and that my English was good. Same thing there too. Focus on why you are good at customer service. You’ll do great!
i am looking to work on a cruise ship as well but i am going to be doing hairdressing i just have to finish my last year of studies but if you can maybe somehow can you find out more about the also with steiner the grooming and things like that please if it is possible
Marc Esterhuizen I don’t know too much about Steiner as I don’t know much about any of the non-NCL companies that employed my other crew members. But I just looked and there are a lot of videos about That company and working in the spa on ships on TH-cam. Definitely check them out. I will say that I know for a fact that the spa employees have some of the the longest contracts and some of the longest working hours during the day. So be prepared for a nine month contract with a 14 hour day every day. It’s pretty tough but you will meet a lot of cool people working in the spa
working the hours doesn't bother me i do that now i the salon i work at in South Africa i am just worried because i have tattoos haha which might be a problem and i looked at the videos but they don't answer my questions sadly but found someone today that can put me in contact with the right people though. thank you for your videos though it helps way more than you can imagine so thank you
Coffee With Sean Will do! I’m looking to work with Norwegian as well! Any tips regarding my resume or how I should approach them? Should I use a reference like yourself?
Antonio Shells I don’t work there anymore so my name won’t help you. If you know someone who works there currently you can def use them. Tailor your resume To show a Lot of customer service experience. They love that stuff
mauricio monterrubio on my ships, the only men who had the more eccentric hair styles were entertainers. Like the musicians. So braids may be a little too “different” to have while working another position.
ZandraCh you might. You should Apply and in your Skype interview make sure you ask. But if you are not willing to cut it for the job, don’t even apply. I’m not saying you will have to cut it, but if you are mentally not able to commit to cutting it if you had to, don’t apply. Ship life isnt for you yet
rainmind to my knowledge no, but you have a safety training you must pass to stay hired. And you will be in water. You’ll probably have a life vest. But if you can, maybe learn :)
Coffee With Sean Thank you Sean. I could swim maybe 30 yrds to the edge. Jaja . But can certainly feel comfortable with a lifevest. If I get hired I will definitely take swimming lessons asap
Thanks for the information, they are really useful. I am entering the NCL company as shorex. I have some doubts about the schedules and if it would take time to go to the ports, do you have information regarding that?
Yonathan Luzardo so shorex is the job everyone wants. You will get to do nearly all the shore excursions for free. You will work many hours. Be up early for port days and sea days you’ll be at the front desk. But I haven’t ever heard a shored person complain about the job ever
When i was working in the cruise line, we have policy rules about the proper way to dress up specially when off duty, but there are some ladies that they are breaking rules. For me its really important to dress up properly wherever you are, wether your in landbase or seabased job, dressing up in proper way is the reflection of who we are, there are some people that they will judge you easily,. Dressing up the proper way is showing respect to yourself. Coz if not people will think about you in so many different ways or aspects in life.
Hi Sean! The cruise line does not provide crew members tuxedos for the formal nights or for any of the job specific related duties that require a tuxedo to be worn do they? Also, for the medical exam (to obtain the certificate) do you know if private insurance would pay for a portion of it? I don’t fully understand how future job seekers usually afford to get the medical exam, especially if it can cost at least half or less of their first month’s earning’s onboard.? Do you have any specific advice for when it comes to the medical exam itself and maybe a specific perspective or general idea that justifies the benefits via cost? I really appreciate your time and I truly enjoy watching your videos. Keep up the great work because I am learning so much.
C.M.H. STUDIOS no you will need to bring any of those additional outfits. And yes your insurance should pay some. The rest will be reimbursed once onboard. But you’re right the money think prior to the job is hard. But the only way to get the job is to do it that way. The justification of the cost is that is the only way to get the job. And once you get the job, you won’t be worried about that money. It will have been worth it
Coffee With Sean so I’ll be working with Princess Cruise Lines. Do you know if they reimburse the cost of the medical exam as well, for instance is this standard when it comes to most Cruise Lines? Thanks for all of your feedback! 😎
C.M.H. STUDIOS I’m sure they will. It would be weird if they didn’t. I think you are worrying too much. It’s really not that bad. I promise. Enjoy it. And take whatever comes with an open mind. It’s all good
Coffee With Sean yeah I sometimes like to worry lol. I’ll not worry about it. It’s mostly because I just am excited and want to make sure I am prepared but it will all come in time. Have a great day man and thanks for your advice.
Got hired by royal carribean now, they don't reimburse the medical only the visas, my personal health insurance covered half and I pay the other half, I live in Germany and it was around 480 euros, I payed half of that
WOW,,,,its a cool,,,,,,, coz i dnt have any tatto in my body ever, this is what im planing when im a high school student, cz nt all company likes about tatto.bt i want bt im scary......:)
Franco6893 oj you can go to the spa fir likely a discount or there is always a crew member down in crew area who will do it for cheap. There was always a crew “barber” on my shops
I like that you don’t edit your long videos! I wish more people on TH-cam shot a raw minimally video
I’m not even trying to work for a cruise but he makes this so interesting lol
I have too many good thinks to say about your videos:
Your personality (for what I can see) is unique.
Your voice is pleasurable
You have a magnificent, clear pronunciation, I can understand every single word you say.
Your comments are very objective.

Loving these videos, found out I got the job I wanted on Princess Cruises Jan 25th and I start in the summer. Your videos are really helpful! :)
Lindsay Harmon That’s so awesome, Lindsay! Congratulations! I hope you have a blast on your first contract. Keep me updated with your adventures.
Sean Price Thank you! I’m from the UK and my first port is going to be San Fransisco. Nervous/excited!
Lindsay Harmon I have been there once. We stopped there when my second ship repositioned to Seattle. I got up super early to see the ship go underneath the Golden Gate Bridge. It was awesome. Dan Francisco is a super cool city.
Sean Price Oh it sounds brilliant, I can’t wait!

Alyssa Vescio hell yeah! Good luck. What position are you going for?
Thanks! & Entertainment :) They take forever to hear back from! Its been two months since my audition so far!

Other companies too :)
Oh wow! That makes me feel better then hahaha. I think Im going to! Thanks for replying :)
I kinda chuckled at your comment about Tattoos, I just watched a video with extensive face time with the ED on a Princess ship and he had some great art on both arms.
D and S World Travel yeah man. Some cruise lines are way more chill about that stuff. NCL was pretty chill
Starting to think I may not have a chance working on a ship with all my visible tattoos on my arms and the big one on my chest lol 🤦♀️ would they find a sugar skull tattoo on my arm offensive??

Brian Curran no. Laundry is free

Stay Righteous my dude
Hi Sean,Nice video.I will love to share my experiences working on the ship.I worked 11 years.Any advice?
Love your video's. I live in Belmont NC.
Veronica Stewart that’s awesome. Let’s meet up for coffee sometime! Send me and email
Make a video on Art gallery work on cruise ships .....there isn't any helpful content on it ☹️
Sean you look like you enjoy the hell outta your coffee. I'm a coffee drinker too. Watching you drink coffee makes me crave it!
What about going in as a man with long hair like cutting my hair would definatly be a deal breaker for me
It would definitely depend on your job. I grew my hair out onboard and kept it in a manbun. No one had issue with it. However I was in the entertainment department, and I was a tech. So I didn’t have a whole lot of guest facing duties. If you work in food/beverage at all you likely won’t be allowed to have long hair. nicocata777 nah man. You’re golden. Facial hair is fine just fine. Just make sure it looks like you care. If you look homeless or lazy, that’s never a good look. Trim it up and good luck! Let me know how it goes
Cool!!! Yeah, I just trimmed this morning before the entreview. So... I Hope it goes well! TNKZ
You look very clean & handsome here ;)
Sunny Yoko thank you Sunny!
are there Barber shops on board or do u need to get a haircut on port days when u need one? thanks:)
There’s always a barber onboard in the spa. And crew usually can get hair cuts on a port day if it’s not busy. But also on every ship I was on, there was always a crew member down in the crew area that would cuz people’s hair for cheap.
SUPER informative video thanks bro
ey Sean love your vids dude. i am about to apply and go for training for a cruise ship job.. i do have dreads which is like just above my neck. will that be a problem?
Have you worked on the 6 star ships such as Seabourn?
Helen Lang no I never work on any luxury liners. Only NCL
Which company is considered the TOP cruise line? The most prestigious to work for...
There are less crew members, the ships are smaller, passengers are more elite (which can be good or bad). I personally had a great time as a crew member for one of the bigger companies. But I did speak with people who thought that if you plan on a career on ships, eventually getting to a smaller luxury cruise line could be a good thing.
Ok, thx for the reply! I'll consider luxury cruises... have to search a little bit about them though, since I know nothing about them.
I guess time on board and salary are considerably bigger than on a cruise line... aren't they?
Kompressor2007 I’m not sure, actually. I would assume you can make a little more money. But I haven’t done too much research on Luxury cruise line work.
Will you? haha would you like to try that type of cruises or are you completely retired from cruise lines?
Hi. I've been watching some of your videos on TH-cam and so far this one's my favorite. Regarding of having a long hair, are there any exceptions if you're a transgender woman? I've been dreaming of working on a cruise for a long time now but I think I'm not able to achieve that dream just because of my gender identity. Hope you notice and reply to my comment. And you would just follow the hair guidelines for any female. All good. Now go start applying!!! Keep me posted on your ship journey!
Coffee With Sean omg! Really? Thank you so much for the reply. I went to an agency here in the philippines and told them my situation.
