  • There are cruises of all different lengths, so when it comes to your work schedule, it can get crazy. However, a common cruise length is a week. Even though there may seem to only be so many things to do on a cruise ship, there is never a dull moment. And it is up to the crew to make every day different, enjoyable, entertaining, fun, and memorable.

    I have never been on a cruise and at 51 will never work on a cruise ship but as an ex scuba diving instructor who worked on liveaboards in my youth I really enjoy your videos. You have a very engaging old school "fireside chat" style and the content is fascinating. Thank you.

    How would you rank the musicians (band) work? I hear it’s 3 hour shows a night. But not sure what the other part of the day would require. Our band is signing a deal with NCL. I want a little heads up to know what to expect. We are looking forward to the opportunity to entertain the guests.

    Can you choose how long you want your contracts you want them to be on the cruise ship or do they choose it for you? If u can make a video about this it would be helpful 🙂

    • @mseanprice
      @mseanprice 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      natalia acosta Actualky that’s a super simple and quick answer. Musicians can choose their own contract lengths because they are working with agents who also get a percentage or their salary. For every other position on the ship, it is a predetermined length. You can always request but chances are you won’t get it changed. Most contracts for the cruise lines are around 6 months.

    I'm considering becoming a table games dealer on a cruise ship. Do you have any insight on how the casino runs things? Like shifts, time off, etc?

    • @CoffeeWithSean
      @CoffeeWithSean  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Brandon Gibbins I only know some stuff about the casino. They are closed while in port. And open while at sea so they are open all night long. So your shifts will be quite long. They also allow smoking in the casino and they can get really Smokey.

    What study I should do to get good job in Crowe

    • @mseanprice
      @mseanprice 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Shantanu Lohar Cruise ships have almost any job you can think of. So if there is a particular job or subject that interests you, study that. And there is a good chance the ship will have a position similar to that.

    I am going to apply as an animator to the ship but can't find any info about shedule or free time! You had experience in entertainment team, please share the knowledge! :)

    • @CoffeeWithSean
      @CoffeeWithSean  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Olena Omelchenko honestly you’re going to feel like you work all the time. Your free time will be a few hours here and there. Enough to get off in some ports for a while; and sometimes you’ll have a night off so you can watch a production show or have a nice dinner. Expect to work a lot though. And then once you’re there you’ll figure out ways to work you schedule to benefit you the best

    Do you know anything about a nurse position on a cruise ship? Are they officers? Do they get days off?

    • @mseanprice
      @mseanprice 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ansley Frost Fromcwht I have seen, nurses have a little bit more of a normal schedule. Hourly at least. Basically the same hours everyday. But I would never say you have days off. You are a lucky few if you actually have a “day off.” And yes, I believe the medical staff are all ranked a little higher. But maybe just half a stripe higher than the entertainment staff.

    • @mseanprice
      @mseanprice 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Shantanu Lohar On my ships there was really on one Environmental officer, at least to my knowledge. I think that would be an incredible field but I t may be hard to get in. But once you’re in you would be good to go. You could also look into becoming a Safety officer on the vessel. Those two positions were on a similar level.

  • @myexperiencebal3559

      Shantanu Lohar Unfortunately I don’t know of any schools in Norway to help put you in a good direction for ships. My apologies.

    I worked for American Cruise lines for 4 months last yr. It's one of the easiest cruise ship jobs to get and I tell people it's like a boot camp. It's good to go on to see if you really want to do this. You don't need a any other credentials really just some job experience or you have to be a college student. It's hard work. It pays pretty decent if you're not a deckhand (1500 at least every two weeks) and it was a lot of fun. It really isn't for everybody especially if you're not used to long hours. If anyone has any questions I'd be happy to answer them. Great vid btw

    I don't get what you used to do. Because it sounds like you were a videographer, which normally is part of the photo team, But you were part of the entertainment team... Odd for me. (From chile!)

    • @CoffeeWithSean
      @CoffeeWithSean  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Maca Aranda Yeah, NCL combines videography and broadcast into one job. I think Royal Caribbean has two separate positions and the videographers are in the photo team.

    • @MrMatt-cm6do
      @MrMatt-cm6do 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Sean, please explain, what did you broadcast on the ship and to whom? E.g. voiced announcements, shows that you videoed broadcast to the customers cabins, videos broadcast to the cruise line’s website? Did you do videos for the passengers to take home?

  • @KURTISODEA
