You seem so sensible and grounded. I'll bet you are very efficient at whatever your job is. You know the "dos" and "don'ts" of your status aboard and never tip your hand as to your personal opinion or behavior. It's all good information and shows that if you want to cruise on the "Love Boat", you'd best buy a ticket and be a guest. Love your videos!
I worked for Carnival Cruise Lines in the casino dept. for 3 years and sleeping with guests definitely went on regularly! My friend got busted by security once so the head of security called my casino manager and asked him if he wanted him fired! Luckily for him, the casino manager liked him enough to keep him on board!
This is the question in the back of my mind. Why is it against two mature adults to see each other, no matter if they work or a guest? If I found a woman on a cruise and things got to that point. If she gets fired. I'll walk off the cruise with her and write a bad report. I'm a rebel. To me rules are meant to be broken. I don't believe in casual sex, or love. But I do believe in commitment.
Cruise lines are subject to the laws of the country they are registered too while in international waters. So being on the ship, is like being in that country. Carnival Cruise ships are registered in Panama. In Panama, prostitution is legal, therefore while in international waters, it is legal onboard ship. It would be up to the cruise line to say if it's ok or not.
Congrats on finding someone Michelle, glad to hear that for you both. Are you both still working on ships or do you both plan on continuing to work on ships, now your in a relationship?? If yes, do you both plan on working on the same ship?? Great video.....I love your personality, energy & sense of humor, you should definitely be a spokes person for a cruise line(if your not already).
Haha, thanks Bill! I am not a spokesperson, I merely speak my experiences. Some people ask for the 'truth' despite what I say, but this all is MY truth. We've been together since 2010 where we met, of course, working on a ship. In 2011, I quit working on ships (while he still did) for 5 years. I then went back in 2016 and we worked one contract together on the same ship. He has now made the switch to a new cruise line and whether I will follow and return again with another company remains to be seen ;) To quote Avril, "why ya gotta go and make things so complicated?" RIGHT!?
Honest question, do the cruise lines pay you extra to cover up the employment abuses on it? You paint a fairly rosy picture of it that goes against evidence about employment abuse.
Hey Michelle! I've been thinking about applying as a cruise photographer/videographer and I was already getting super excited at the prospect, but now that I've watched through your videos I'm sure I've found my calling. I love that you haven't glamorized the life and made it look fancier than it is and that you're being honest with us about expectations and rules. It's real and that is what I needed to see. So, it's perfect, and you've convinced me to nail this job application no matter what! So Thank You for putting these out there. And hey, if I do get a gig and we happen to be on the same ship, we should collaborate on a video. Video is one of my main specialties and I can do some really good looking stuff with it. (PS: Considering some of the comments on here, I should clarify that I'm not hitting on you.... I actually kiss boys... but you seem cool, so we should collab).
Go for videographer :) A lot more creative freedom filming all the bits with the cruise director- you might even create something that goes viral on fb like a friend did: facebook.com/CelebrityCruises/videos/10154222850815879/?hc_ref=PAGES_TIMELINE. Photo department is a lot of fancy formal/dining room photos and waking up early to take pics of families in new ports. If you want to be more creative- go broadcast. :)
I have no intention of working on a cruise ship but have found myself watching every video?? I have worked in restaurants a lot in the past and I imagine working on a cruise ship is very similar but you are forced to live with Co-workers. A bunch of young attractive people working together who drink a lot together after a shift and everyone ends up hooking up with someone. It was a great way to live in my 20's, now I kinda wish I would have did it on a cruise ship
Love your honesty. I've been trying to get a heads up before going into my first contract. Even though I didn't like the odds, watching this video was good. Subscribed! ❤️😁
I go on cruises and always wonder the life of a crew member and thought to myself how a reality show would be awesome. Thanks for sharing some of the insider info for curious minds like myself!
My roomie was part of the 30% and it finally got to the point where I said the hell with it and went to bed even when they were doing it. They didn't even care. I
Eric yes me and my wife are on the same ship but at first it was very difficult to get a cabin together as the number of male and female employees was the exact same and if we took a cabin together it meant that there had to be another couple who wanted to share and there wasn't however they fixed it after a month. They even encourage people to get their significant other on board because it means that the crew won't be as homesick and will be in better mood and therefore be better at their job.
Delly Tan yes just remember that you can't change your cabin so for the length of that contract you two will have that room. So it's something you keep in mind if you guys break up or smth no changes will apply to the room.
@@pranithapranitha8851 so my family and I went on a cruise together and you know just to party and you know what you do at cruise and we decided to go to this teen club and she was working there and we started it to dance together but we thought it was just as friends. And then i start to catch feelings for her and she did for me so the last day on the ship, i just said i am do it and i asked her to be my girlfriend. And we took ever since i live in USA and her in Morocco, but we managed the long distance and now we are planning our wedding. We been together for 3 years now and i am glad i got to ask her to be mine and i truly do believe she the love of my life. And can’t wait for many years to come.
Thank you soo much for sharing your beautiful story,i wish both of you together forever ❤️god bless you always ,more lovable years will come for you both,I wish to see you both in another cruise journey,I'm a princess crew member ,wish you all the best 👍
Some for sure try/do. But yeah. They basically are supposed to wait until their contract ends period. It's more for the cruise line/crew member's protection. A guest can turn around and say they didn't consent and then it opens all sorts of lawsuits against the company etc. Most crew don't want to get into that so they just sleep with other crew.
Questions: Best cruise line to work for? Do they pay for your travel to board? Crew bar, how cheap and how can you drink when you're working 12-15 hours a day? When is your down time? For how long? Days off? What are you able to do for fun? Especially when docking. Best positions(no pun intended)? What is the food like?
Hmm, likewise in the military. Small percentage being female it was not uncommon for the new girl to be very popular. You could always tell when a new girl started because there would be a circle of guys around her. Especially on deployments. Problem is sometimes girls who weren't used to something like this would become incredibly big headed.. and when they'd get back stateside would be rudely awakened when all of those guys disappeared. Sounds mean.. but that's just how life is.
Yeah I second that, but from my experience women on deployments go pretty much insane. They are fine for the first month or so but then they tend to crack and the guys have to deal with them everyday.
I couldn't agree more with that. During my deployments the motto going around was, "what happens on deployment stays on deployment." The females were just eating it all up. It got to the point where even a few were prostituting themselves just to cash in it. Until the MP's found out.
You are so cute. Happy to see you are married. A video on how it all happened with him in the video. Love your videos, your humor, and how you break it all down, thank you for sharing!🙏
Hello my girlfriend is a dance performer on celebrity infinity and i was wondering if you have any advice or insight. We are very much serious but I am having somewhat of a difficult time on my end. Haha
Prostitution isn't the oldest profession in the world, not even close :P Great video though!!! Professions in order of occurrence: 1: Tool Making 2: Hunting/Meat Cutting 3: Clothier/Tailor 4: Storytellers 5: Artist 6: Musician 7: Farming 8: Builders
@ekim andersom That is a highly uneducated response. Eve was tempted by Lucifer to partake of the forbidden fruit and did so, as well as her tempting Adam to do it as well. That is the original sin. Without that life would just be plain, no one would exist and nothing would have happened. There was no exchange of goods or exchange of anything. You should really read up your sources before saying something so off based like that. I am not even religious and I know this story.
hello there... if you have a boyfriend and you've been together long, and both of you want to work on a cruise ship. do you tell someone and they make a plan for the two of you to be in the same cabin if you working for the same job?
What did you do on board since there aren't that many Anglos on the ship? I was a casino dealer myself. I'd say I'd spend 1/3 of my time with my workers, 1/3 with my other Costa Ricans, and 1/3 with everyone else when I wasn''t in bed (sometimes alone, sometimes not).
Your videos have really been helpful! I'm starting my first contract as a showband musician next week and now I have some inkling of what to expect onboard!
Hang out with the officers! Not where I worked. A few girls become the officers mistresses and disappear for a bit then the officers wives come on board. That's one way to move up the ladder when you're on board.
Hello, I would appreciate if anyone can answer this :-) I have an offer to work on a cruise ship (gift shop department), and I wear fixed dental braces for 6 months already .My question is, do I have any dental doctors around, where i can make appointments (maybe one or two), because 6 months is a long time to be wearing braces without any medical supervision? Have you seen anyone ( staff or crew) with braces on board, and how they solve this problem? Any useful answer or suggestion will be appreciated..
Hey! I just started watching your videos so I apologize if i ask a question you have previously answered. I'm Canadian and looking to start working on a cruise before i attend college in September. 1) How much money would you say a Server would make each month, how much previous experience do they look for? are you allowed to accept tips? 2) are there any other employment services you use and are there better times through the year to apply? I'm not currently seeing a lot of availability for work with the Canadian Employment office you recommended in one of your previous videos :( and 3) i'm only looking to work until September, so should i apply as youth? Thanks for reading! I'm continuing to watch your videos to gather more Intel as you have been very informative so far
I wouldn't go in as a server. I'd always recommend going in as something in revenue or entertainment- and yes, most contracts are 6 months but you can get away with less if you are 'seasonal youth staff' whereby you're called on during busy periods for 4 week- 2 month stints (march break, christmas, etc). Technically I think you're *supposed* to pool physical tips- but if an envelope comes with your name on it, most people just keep it. You get tipped as a youthie too! Still apply even if they don't have anything up. Get a Life at Sea can also help! th-cam.com/channels/4_evAY55BzOe1wdZSSdzmA.html . There may not be anything right this second as most lines (especially for youth staff) probably would have already hired for march break/spring break high season and they'd all be aboard right now- or about to board.
Hi Michelle. I did 4 contracts working, and working up, in the casino starting as a dealer. That was a long time ago and looking back I say "Wow, was that me1". It was something out of Animal Planet, especially for the people like me who couldn't work while the ships were in port. I had 4 cabin mates and it was strange. I thought the first one was slutty, then the next 2 were normal, and then it went full circle and I thought my last one was a prude. Did you have any "Officer Mistresses" on your ship(s)?
Hey, Michelle, thanks for the video, bringing back great memories of my ship life :)) I did one contract with P&O Australia off Sydney in 2006 and one with Royal Caribbean off Miami in 2014. Ship life was some of the best time I've had in my whole life. The crew was always so nice and supportive to one-another, I'll never forget that !! One rarely finds onland the soul-to-soul supportiveness I had on ships from the crew.
Is it possible for a couple getting jobs on the same ships or can we totally forget about that idea? (Been together for 8 years so want to do it together but seems impossible??
It IS possible...but if you do a second contract there's a chance you could be separated. You kinda go with the needs of the business. If you're MARRIED however, they tend to help that arrangement out a lot more than just couples. The exception to this is if you're looking at a job that must always be together for the job to work (musician duo/adage duo etc..these guys can be boyfriend/girlfriend and get on together no problem)
Yeah, but depending on your positions, you might be sleeping together in a bunkbed (twin size). Being a married couple doesn't upgrade your room to one with a double bed.
Hi Michelle! I discovered your videos today and I'm thoroughly enjoying every one of them. Thank you ! ! ! I've always wondered about the process of rehiring with a new contract after a contract is over. Does the former employee sit and wait to hear from the line or are they perhaps notified before the end of a current contract that they will begin a new one on a specific date? I know that many employees aren't faced with these issues very often but I'm sure that many many more are. What's the 411 ??
Thanks. I give it top marks for its' video quality but in my opinion, it leaves quite a bit of audio noise below your voice. I can hear you just fine, but it sounds as if you're in a room with a big air conditioner blowing on high. It's not a reason to throw away your camera, but I just wondered about it. I'm not criticising your videos, if anything I'm criticising Nikon (but I'm not, really) Keep on keepin' on.
Not related to this video, but what departments are allowed to be in the guest areas? I know that hosts are, but what about the performers for the night shows and for those guys, do you know what the performers do during the day since really they work at night? And how many times can you change ships in a contract? Do married couples get the option of working on the same ship if they're married at the beginning of their contract (like if they signed at the same time) Thank you!
The quick answer is all entertainment staff (hosts, production crew, youth etc), officers and those in revenue (spa, casino, shops, etc). If you know the difference between crew, staff and officers, staff and officers are allowed in guest areas. During the day performers sometimes rehearse in the main theatre (especially the day-of the shows, there's always a run through- even though they've done the show countless times), they also help with things around the ship where needed and some will do classes (dance classes by the dancers and choir by the singers) for the guests. At night, sometimes there are theme parties they perform in as well! You usually stay on the same ship for your entire contract. The only way you'll usually move is if something happens to someone and they need to send a replacement asap. Married couples can stay together, yes :) Unmarried, not so much- you can try, but they make more of an effort for married couples.
Hello, my boyfriend is going to work on a cruise for 6 months and we have been dating for 1,5 years, and I am very hesitant of him going. Do you think that our relationship could survive those 6 months? Without any cheating
It all depends how he is normally (and you). I've seen it go both ways. I've watched people struggle (or not struggle) and be 100% successful- but I've also watched married people/ people with a gf/bf back home cheat and then call their SO and chat like nothing happened. To each their own!
+Sara if he's a good guy I wouldn't worry. Worrying visibly might push him away. But if he's a known offender, why are you with him anyway!? Lol. If he goes just stay present- have him Skype you, call you, stay interested. A lot of the breakups happen because the people at home are jealous their bf/gf is off jetsetting and so what should be a nice check in turns catty out of jealousy. They happen as well because unless you're in it with him (is that an option for you?), you really feel like people at home don't understand your life on board and gravitate towards the people who do (the other people onboard). So maybe just stay interested and loving, I guess!
I trust him, and I know that he is an amazing guy I'm just scared of all the temptation you talked about. I am very happy that he gets the chance to experience working on a ship and I support him, but after hearing what you said, made me worried ( I've been cheated on before), I just need to be more positive, I guess.. I can't do the same, because I am in college, but after that who knows? Ahahah. Thank you for answering my questions, it's our firts time being this much time away from each other, that is also one of the reasons I am little apprehensive. But yeah, I need to be more positive! Have a lovely day. Ps: I love your videos!
Hi Michelle! I've been wanting to work on a cruise for a long time, I'm graduating high school early in hopes that I'll be able to get a job as a singer/dancer. Do you think I'll have a chance of being hired at 17? Or should I wait until I am 18? Thanks!
lookatmysheeaat yep! it varies depending on what kind of manager you are. some get exactly the same room as in my room tour, but with only one person. senior officers have things that look like guest rooms up to a mini suite (depending on stripes). the captain has a mini suite. my first videos were filmed in a big, senior officer room.
so how do they handle married couples working on a ship together do they share the same room and just say you were to sleep with one of your crew mates how do you do that if you share rooms with other people
@jakkiahmaand married couples can stay together. couples can stay together if one of the 'partners' is of a rank where they have their own room anyway- basically they are then just inviting that person in. As for sleeping with people and having a roommate- you just have to get that done when you're roommate (or theirs) is working. In a twin bed. Sometimes on the top bunk. Good luck! haha
It's frowned upon only if you report to the officer directly. You can still date, but you have to make this known with onboard HR incase people start talking/ thinking your schedule is better and you're favoured etc etc.
any tips for personal trainers? I got a job. I am starting my training in June...Loooking for some info from crew members. There is not much online about fitness and all...If you mind please I would really appreciate it ! Thank you! btw your videos are great!
Sorry! I'm a bit unskilled here as while I knew the personal trainers from going to the gym, I was never super close with them to know their routine. Seems pretty OK though at first glance- looks like there's time off but some pressure as well as there's targets to hit- you need to get people into the classes/talks on weight loss etc and/or sessions to hit targets. It's a hard one to know a lot about as there are only ever really 2 people onboard doing the job- so I can understand why you can't find a lot of info! Maybe someone that has done the job will see your post here and can weigh in!
Hi Michelle! Really like your insights on the cruise ship life. I'm from China mainland. I'm wondering the working condition on ship for crew from Philippines and China is that bad as revealed from news. Should they have to work at least 100 hours per week and no day off with low salary less than 800 dollars? What about the salary of a waiter or a housekeeper? I'll be grateful to your reply.^_^
Most people work about 10 hours/ day (though not everyday), and EVERYONE works everyday, regardless of position (the one exception that you've been signed off sick). The average wage is about 1000/month (I made 1500 as youth counselor), while some positions also collect tips from guests. But remember, we are also fed three times daily and live for free. That doesn't happen on land- it means your money is yours.
Just happened to bump into your channel and loving these videos haha. I just did a contract on a P&O ship for 6 months and I feel like I could write a book based on that experience alone. A ton of drama - alcohol, friendships, arguments, sleeping around, very long working hours, mental breakdowns, you name it - it's like big brother only WORSE! I've made some life long friends that's for sure and it's been amazing for my social life; but I don't know if I can say the same for my mental health in some situations. The amount of breakdowns I had during that 6 months was very unhealthy but I managed to power through. In my personal experience, I definitely don't trust anybody in a relationship on ships and I wouldn't be involved in one myself after witnessing certain things. Thanks for the video! If anyone reading this wants to shoot me a message or ask any questions feel free; more than happy to tell some stories! :D
AlexRider hey.... I recently got offered a job as a chef at carnival cruises... I read your comment and it said that the breakdowns are not worth it... I do suffer from anxiety sometimes and that’s the one of the main things stopping me from accepting the offer and other variables as well like being away from my family and friends. Besides my anxiety I am surprisingly very social and love to travel... is all the mental breakdowns worth it? Should I take a chance?
Please tell me more! I'm worried about my mental health being potentially jeopardised as I can sometimes overreact and blow up if I don't get enough sleep haha!
Not boyfriend usually but married couples they will move things around for. However if you enter with a job where you have your own cabin, they can of course come live with you/ move in.
I would love from story times from a cruise ship michelle! I bet you have amazing stories having worked on cruise ships, you could spill tea like a ship in a storm!
Hey.. so I'm going to be working on board a cruise ship in a couple months in the entertainment dept.. Have you ever worked with a transgender female..? Do you know of any crew on board who are...? I'm trans and am just wondering what I might expect on board..
I knew someone once but they weren't in my department! Actually that's a lie, I knew two, one was a dancer. I'm not sure exactly what avenues you mean as to what to expect so I'll just jot a few things I think you could be referring to- rooming, in being transgender female, I would expect you would have a female roommate (I'm not ENTIRELY certain how it all works as the dancer I was close with was just beginning to transition at the time- and so she roomed with another male, but was totally A-OK with the arrangement). If you meant culture, everyone seemed to be very welcoming, I wouldn't fear anything- it's a big family- all different races, religions and sexualities getting along, embrace it, and if there ARE any a-holes, don't keep quiet about it. The cruise lines are to have zero tolerance to ANY BS in that respect. I don't know if this helps at all, but as the baseline, have FUN!
Hiya.. yea that does help.. I've been in transition for over 3yrs and I'm officially female in all of my documents. i.e. passport, drivers license and social security card etc.. if I have to room with a guy, I suppose it'd be ok.. He'd just have to be ok with all the girly stuff lol... I'm going to be with RC in the entertainment dept so I'm sure it'll all be good.. I've got a 5yr plan so I know I'm staying at least that long.. I don't have any family so it'll be nice to make family on the ship.. Thyx for the info.. Are you going to go back to working on a ship again..? I'm definitely going to make my own videos. I've got a GoPro now since I do motovlogs on my motorcycle.. Talk soon..
The whole concept of "turning gay" is an interesting one. I have never "worked onboard," however I faced a similar scenario where there weren't ANY females around, and as humans we have needs, regardless of who assists people in achieving those needs is an entirely different story.
Hi I am from India. I have experience in retail and also have basic photography certificate. Which department is good to join? And will I be able to start my career on cruise line? Which cruise line I can apply ? Please help???!!!
I think you answered your own question- shops (retail) or photo department! They're both some of the better jobs you can have on the ship all things considered.
love your videos and yes you should have your husband on your giving us the girl perspective of life on a cruise ship I'm sure he has a guy perspective. congrats on your marriage. also can you make videos while at sea and maybe show us the bridge or like videos of things you see while out at sea. hope you reply.
All the application websites say you have to be 21 to apply but I've found LOADS of sources (of varying reliability) that say they''d consider an 18+ year old depending on the position, maturity and their capability. Have you ever seen anyone under 21 working on a ship and if so what position? :)
A few comments. First, 70 % of the crew is from Asia so they tend to stick together. So for that reason the 70/30 thing isn't really accurate. I would say its more 60/40 or even 50/50.
Quick question sort of off topic but at the some time on topic I am also a Canadian citizen and I was wondering did you get a visa from Canada to travel or no this sounds dumb but lots of countries don't need Canadian citizens to present a visa and If I need to take the stwc basics course and there's none in Canada only in USA do I have to be a American citizen or just go down and take the course. Thx
I didn't need a visa ever as I worked for an American cruise line- if you are going to a country where you need to get a visa prior to your contract starting, the company will advise you. If you are already on the ship and a visa winds up being needed, the company will help you get it (most likely EVERYONE onboard needs it and you all 'immigrate' in this instance).
I met my love of my life in cruise ship, everytime that people is asking us how did we met, this is always his response, "we met in guest services, lost and found, she is the LOST and i am the FOUND" im like, 😍😍😍 But jeez i miss my love right now.. 😔
tunnerrocks it's possible but tough. They schedule you as per the needs of the business rather than your wants. They help out quite a bit more if you're actually married rather than just a couple.
I didn't. My job was more for fun/seeing the world and didn't translate into enough to live off of where I do. But there are jobs onboard that are six figure jobs and real careers. Or if you live in a third world country, once the dollar you make is switched into local currency it's often more than enough for them to live off of.
Wow, I love your channel, your personality, and it is helpful that you are so beautiful (to me), I like your voice, I even like your lipstick, and the shape of your lips. I like that you are forward. Now, I'm not the type of person who would work for a cruise line company. I like my days off. I am an 8hr work day type of person. But, I think I'll be watching your channel and admiring you from a far. Plus, I noticed your ring.
Definitely. Guys know when a girl is new because there are so few girls in comparison to the number of men. Every time I went back aboard I was told within 20 minutes by someone 'oh you must be new here!" It's on her to stay true. I did. But I watched a lot of married men cheat and I felt helpless for their wives.
I was hoping that you would go more in depth about workers sleeping with guest for example expressing a story that may have happened with someone on a cruise ship that was a No No ? indicating that "It does happen" or "It doesn't happen to often"
Hello Miss! Could you please tell me what exactly happens at the end of the contract. If for instance, I (along with other crew/staff members) successfully finish the contract, what does more precisely happen from that moment onward. Will anybody wait/escort us to a coach and then directly to the airport? Will we leave the ship all together (boom - open the gates over 1000, 2000 crew members need to exit the ship right in this moment) or separately day by day.. Hopefully you understand my question. I would like to know how things unfold when you finish your contract and you start to prepare going home. Thank you in advance.
You are escorted to a vehicle that takes you to the airport. You get your tickets about 2 weeks before you leave the ship. They have full 'sign-off' meetings where they go over everything and you do a tonnn of stuff before you leave- return things, get things signed, collect paperwork etc. No, not all crew leave at the same time, that would be chaos. You might sign off with 15-30 other people. It's almost always on embark day (the day cruise guests get on and off the ship- old guests exit and new ones come on for a new cruise start)
Michelle Tim Thank you so much Michelle! Could you please answer to my following, last question? If I don't do anything bad such as "lovely activities" with passengers, late for work, etc. you know what I mean concerning those highly prohibited stuff. I always prove that I am eager to do my best, I am always good intended, result orientated, bla-bla.. do they have tolerance with me/us? In other words, I hope that the percentage of getting off the ship before the contract expires for crew/staff members is because they (the personnel) might resign, rather than getting fired. Right? Thanks!
I started with ships when I was 24. Stopped when I was 26 and had a few years hiatus. Went back at 29 and most people I worked with were the same age as me.
If you are in the crew area off-duty, no. If you are in a guest area off duty, yes yes yes (unless you are passing through a guest area to go off in port, then no).
I met my wife while working on a cruise ship. I worked in the theater and she worked with the kids. One of the best times of my life.
Wow god bless you both
Worked on ships during the 80's. Generally hooked up with 1-3 pax per week (7 day cruises). Those were the days!
I love how honest this girl is
I met my significant other while working on a cruise ship back in 2014... I can thank my job for pairing me with the right guy!
Alana you can thank that ship for you not being a washed up cat lady for sure.....wait are you still with him? #AnotherWALLHitCatLady
So he must be one of the hot ones
Crew always looking for rich guests thats wat the right guy means im sure
I worked for Carnival Cruise Lines in the casino dept. for 3 years and sleeping with guests definitely went on regularly! My friend got busted by security once so the head of security called my casino manager and asked him if he wanted him fired! Luckily for him, the casino manager liked him enough to keep him on board!
Tim "like him" like him or just "he's a good person" like him??😂😂
This is the question in the back of my mind.
Robert Salmond I'm thinking about it too I'm excited
I have no intention of working on a cruise ship but have found myself watching every video?? I have worked in restaurants a lot in the past and I imagine working on a cruise ship is very similar but you are forced to live with Co-workers. A bunch of young attractive people working together who drink a lot together after a shift and everyone ends up hooking up with someone. It was a great way to live in my 20's, now I kinda wish I would have did it on a cruise ship
haha, it's a different life, that's for sure!
Could a married couple find jobs on the same ship and room together?
Eric yes me and my wife are on the same ship but at first it was very difficult to get a cabin together as the number of male and female employees was the exact same and if we took a cabin together it meant that there had to be another couple who wanted to share and there wasn't however they fixed it after a month. They even encourage people to get their significant other on board because it means that the crew won't be as homesick and will be in better mood and therefore be better at their job.
lala 24 if im not married yet, can i get a room share with my boyfriend?
Delly Tan yes just remember that you can't change your cabin so for the length of that contract you two will have that room. So it's something you keep in mind if you guys break up or smth no changes will apply to the room.
lala 24 alright thankyou... 😊
I found the love of my life on a ship as a passenger and her as a crew member and we are happily together
Can you plz tell that story in short I'm excited to hear it❤️
@@pranithapranitha8851 so my family and I went on a cruise together and you know just to party and you know what you do at cruise and we decided to go to this teen club and she was working there and we started it to dance together but we thought it was just as friends.

Do passengers and crew members ever try to fraternize while in port? Is it still against the rules if the crew member is off the clock?
Anna Fink good question. i bet ppl take advantage of having relations while visiting ports
Questions:
Best cruise line to work for?
Do they pay for your travel to board?
Crew bar, how cheap and how can you drink when you're working 12-15 hours a day?
When is your down time? For how long? Days off?
What are you able to do for fun? Especially when docking.
Best positions(no pun intended)?
What is the food like?
I know crew members from different countries met in the ship, married and working together in the same ship. Love your stories 😊
I do not think that there is just coffee in that mug.
Can’t remember the last time I got that high from just coffee.
You are so cute. Happy to see you are married. A video on how it all happened with him in the video. Love your videos, your humor, and how you break it all down, thank you for sharing!🙏
I spent 2.5 years on ML class ships. It gets... interesting.
Also, I didn't see any prostitution either. I never even heard of it happening on board. No rumors or anything.
Hello my girlfriend is a dance performer on celebrity infinity and i was wondering if you have any advice or insight. We are very much serious but I am having somewhat of a difficult time on my end. Haha
Prostitution isn't the oldest profession in the world, not even close :P Great video though!!!
Professions in order of occurrence:
1: Tool Making
2: Hunting/Meat Cutting
3: Clothier/Tailor
4: Storytellers
5: Artist
6: Musician
7: Farming
8: Builders
I'd say I'd spend 1/3 of my time with my workers, 1/3 with my other Costa Ricans, and 1/3 with everyone else when I wasn''t in bed (sometimes alone, sometimes not).
how do you go about getting into the medical department on a cruise ship as a nurse. I'm not finding a lot of info on the steps
Can a 50something single male be part of a crew on a cruise ship ( large or small ships)? Looking for a NEW experience abroad?
Your videos have really been helpful! I'm starting my first contract as a showband musician next week and now I have some inkling of what to expect onboard!
Hang out with the officers! Not where I worked. A few girls become the officers mistresses and disappear for a bit then the officers wives come on board. That's one way to move up the ladder when you're on board.
Fuck that shit
lmaooo
Hello, I would appreciate if anyone can answer this :-) I have an offer to work on a cruise ship (gift shop department), and I wear fixed dental braces for 6 months already .My question is, do I have any dental doctors around, where i can make appointments (maybe one or two), because 6 months is a long time to be wearing braces without any medical supervision? Have you seen anyone ( staff or crew) with braces on board, and how they solve this problem? Any useful answer or suggestion will be appreciated..
Soooo glad your back! Yes please do a video about your guy!
Great Video Michelle, I always wondered 🤔😉😄
Hi there your videos are very much benefitting thanks for sharing .I have one question, what about kitchen staff life? thanks
Thanks for the shout out Michelle :)
Awesome! I'm going on the symphony of seas! pretty excited
Yo bro big up
Hey, Michelle, thanks for the video, bringing back great memories of my ship life :)) I did one contract with P&O Australia off Sydney in 2006 and one with Royal Caribbean off Miami in 2014. Ship life was some of the best time I've had in my whole life. The crew was always so nice and supportive to one-another, I'll never forget that !! One rarely finds onland the soul-to-soul supportiveness I had on ships from the crew.
Holy smokes this video is badass ! The honesty in this video WOW
I would love to know on which department you work
Is it possible for a couple getting jobs on the same ships or can we totally forget about that idea? (Been together for 8 years so want to do it together but seems impossible??
It IS possible...but if you do a second contract there's a chance you could be separated. You kinda go with the needs of the business. If you're MARRIED however, they tend to help that arrangement out a lot more than just couples. The exception to this is if you're looking at a job that must always be together for the job to work (musician duo/adage duo etc..these guys can be boyfriend/girlfriend and get on together no problem)
but can marriage couples sleep on the same bed ??
Yeah, but depending on your positions, you might be sleeping together in a bunkbed (twin size). Being a married couple doesn't upgrade your room to one with a double bed.
Hi Michelle! I discovered your videos today and I'm thoroughly enjoying every one of them. Thank you ! ! !
I've always wondered about the process of rehiring with a new contract after a contract is over.
Does the former employee sit and wait to hear from the line or are they perhaps notified before the end
of a current contract that they will begin a new one on a specific date?
I know that many employees aren't faced with these issues very often but I'm sure that many many more are.
What's the 411 ??
You're notified before your Contract end. Hope this helps
I enjoy your vids for the info and content, but the question I want to ask is "off topic". What make/model of camera do you use to record your video?
Nikon D5200 :)
Do married couples get the option of working on the same ship if they're married at the beginning of their contract (like if they signed at the same time)
Thank you!
Thank you!
Michelle Tim I am literally freaking out! Ahahha. If you were in my shoes what would you do?
Ps: I love your videos!
how did it end up going?
Hi Michelle!
I've been wanting to work on a cruise for a long time, I'm graduating high school early in hopes that I'll be able to get a job as a singer/dancer. Do you think I'll have a chance of being hired at 17? Or should I wait until I am 18?
Thanks!
eighthnotes I've seen 18 year olds.. not sure about 17- I'd check the audition pages :)
I was wondering, do "higher up" employees get different cabins? Like the captain head of departments
lookatmysheeaat yep! it varies depending on what kind of manager you are. some get exactly the same room as in my room tour, but with only one person. senior officers have things that look like guest rooms up to a mini suite (depending on stripes). the captain has a mini suite. my first videos were filmed in a big, senior officer room.
Michelle Tim I would be ok with the single bed room like yours. It would a lot like when I was in Japan so that would be ok with me ;)
Comment guys are also 100% to found available girls in the Ships & am talking about MSC cruises Ships 😇
so how do they handle married couples working on a ship together do they share the same room and just say you were to sleep with one of your crew mates how do you do that if you share rooms with other people
@jakkiahmaand married couples can stay together. couples can stay together if one of the 'partners' is of a rank where they have their own room anyway- basically they are then just inviting that person in. As for sleeping with people and having a roommate- you just have to get that done when you're roommate (or theirs) is working. In a twin bed. Sometimes on the top bunk. Good luck! haha
Lol sounds like college all over again
Khouya! Wach momkin mgharba ykhdmo f MSc wla charikat lokhrin!? Makaynch hiring partners wla approved doctors in Morocco??
I'm curious if relationships / fraternizing between officers and crew is banned? I imagine they keep to their own areas and guest areas anyway?
It's frowned upon only if you report to the officer directly. You can still date, but you have to make this known with onboard HR incase people start talking/ thinking your schedule is better and you're favoured etc etc.
thank you so much for the video! will be important to me since I'm going to be working on new region Cruise Line soon thanks for the advice
any tips for personal trainers?
Michelle Tim hopefully..thank you anyway..😀
Michelle Tim Thank you Michelle!
Could you please tell me that How do we contact daily to our family when we are on cruise?
KING IN EVERYTHING SKK there's wifi/ internet
@@MichelleTimrox is life is really difficult in starting time when you join any cruise 🚢?
Hi, i wanna ask if are we allowed to get share room with our own boyfriend? Like apply cruise job together from the start.
Not boyfriend usually but married couples they will move things around for. However if you enter with a job where you have your own cabin, they can of course come live with you/ move in.
Hi Michelle, Nice video.I will love to share my experiences working on the cruise Lines.I worked 11 years.Any advice?
I would love from story times from a cruise ship michelle! I bet you have amazing stories having worked on cruise ships, you could spill tea like a ship in a storm!
I want to see him!!
What happens if a crew member gets pregnant on the ship?
That crew member is fired, if pregnancy is found out.
Daniel Wurst: They issue u a clothes hanger to perform ur own abortion. Off the clock of course.
Jeff Jeff 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Hey.. so I'm going to be working on board a cruise ship in a couple months in the entertainment dept..
Talk soon..
Your so cute!!!
Are you currently working on a ship or plan to go back anytime soon?
What?? Yes totally want to see him and hear your story!! Will you go back to the ship together?
The whole concept of "turning gay" is an interesting one. I have never "worked onboard," however I faced a similar scenario where there weren't ANY females around, and as humans we have needs, regardless of who assists people in achieving those needs is an entirely different story.
Hi, Michelle, which ship are you working on ? And which company?
yuanji Li RCL
Your videos are fun and educational! Thank you!
Hi I am from India. I have experience in retail and also have basic photography certificate. Which department is good to join? And will I be able to start my career on cruise line? Which cruise line I can apply ? Please help???!!!
I think you answered your own question- shops (retail) or photo department! They're both some of the better jobs you can have on the ship all things considered.
when are you going to post new video i love your videos
Next week!
Cant wait 😀😀
OMG YASS QUEEN i SO wanna work on the same ship as Miss Michelle Tim she's amahzing.
love your videos and yes you should have your husband on your giving us the girl perspective of life on a cruise ship I'm sure he has a guy perspective. congrats on your marriage. also can you make videos while at sea and maybe show us the bridge or like videos of things you see while out at sea. hope you reply.
Hi, what is lowest age for working on cruise ship? (From your experience what age were youngest worker?)
21- sometimes there are exceptions (dancers, talent, etc)
is snowwhite part of that 30% ?
I say finding a mate and most people don’t but it’s more accurate.
All the application websites say you have to be 21 to apply but I've found LOADS of sources (of varying reliability) that say they''d consider an 18+ year old depending on the position, maturity and their capability. Have you ever seen anyone under 21 working on a ship and if so what position? :)
I definitely want to work on a ship now.
love your videos. PLEASE upload more
The rooms are so tiny I can't imagine it's too erotic to take a fellow crew member 'back to yours' haha!
Mbeepy Unless he’s a higher up 😏
A few comments.
Hello..been interested watching your channel since i've decided to work for a cruise ship..want to apply for nurse, how?
Amazing! check my vid on how to get hired and find yourself a hiring partner in the country you live in :)
Hummm when kids graduate high school and move on, sounds like a fun job. Might have to look into it.
I met my love of my life in cruise ship, everytime that people is asking us how did we met, this is always his response, "we met in guest services, lost and found, she is the LOST and i am the FOUND" im like, 😍😍😍
But jeez i miss my love right now.. 😔
pie milla awwww
Can a couple (gay or straight) get a job on the same ship and have the same cabin? Is that a possibility?
tunnerrocks it's possible but tough. They schedule you as per the needs of the business rather than your wants. They help out quite a bit more if you're actually married rather than just a couple.
Can you work on ship as a summer job?
What was your salary like? Did you make a lot of money.
Plus, I noticed your ring.
its like that 70"s show the love boat
David Alexander You've got to be kidding me!
I loved that show. To bad real cruise life isn't that way.
finally u r back
how long have you been working on a ship
I worked for 2 years from 2010- 2012 and then went back in 2016 :)
my wife will be going to work on a cruise ship, will guys still hit on her if they know shes married?
William Loudermilk probably. they don’t care
Any relation to Mary Kay LeTourneau? ;-)
woah that's awesome 😍😍😍😮👏
oh yeah .. u are making it plainer for me .. I guess I'm gonna be in better love aboard. thanks dear Michelle !
I’d love to see your husband, and hear about what he thought when he met you, if it was a cute lovely story, or what bumps there were.
Right? Thanks!
What is the age minimum for working on a cruise ship?
18 for some jobs- though you won't be able to drink if the ship's age is 21
Totally random, how old are you? And whats the average age of crew members? I'm 25 with 7 years retail experience and I think I found my calling haha
30! Most are 21-50. With a few above and below.
I started with ships when I was 24. Stopped when I was 26 and had a few years hiatus. Went back at 29 and most people I worked with were the same age as me.
when you aren't on duty, do you have to wear your name tag
If you are in the crew area off-duty, no. If you are in a guest area off duty, yes yes yes (unless you are passing through a guest area to go off in port, then no).
