- Planning to swap a K24A into something?
Follow along as we tear down a fresh-off-the-boat JDM K24A long block as we prep it for installation into a Civic. These engines have a ton of unused and unwanted junk bolted to them so before we can install it into anything we have to pull all of it off.

Just finished my own JDM K24A in an EG with all hybrid stuff. Great engines, lots of power and really nice powerband with the correct tune!
What car does it come out of and is it better than k24a2 ?

What process do you all use to blast and clean the engine before install? That would be really great information and an even better video!
all k series starters will work, just different connectors.
I was going to say, because my jdm k24a came from a honda absolute and i dind have to change the starter at all work just fine.
Yeah was about to ask. I put a type s trans on my k24a and it turned over just fine.

What’s your process for getting the engine clean?
What oem starter do you have to get to make this absolute k24?
Start at the beginning
All k series starters work auto or manual. You don’t have to change it

Really 09 up tsx idler pulley works and alternator all that’s is just the new generation of parts and the starter is the same
What bolts did you use to mount it to the engine stand

Are the bottoms ends of a JDM K24A 3 lobe the same as a 03-07 JDM Accord K24A block RAA? I am swapping a K20Z1 head and trying to determine if their is a difference in short blocks.
U want the k24a rbb 3 or 4. Bigeer rods and more head flow
Im using a usdm k24 automatic starter in a base rsx k20a3 with no issues, are you sure about replacing the starter?

Just got a K24A1 from a crv. Do you recommend replacing pistons and rods for a civic swap.
The K24A1 is a pretty good motor as is. I wouldn't change anything unless you need to.

If you already have an RSX, you'll want to use the RSX starter.
Why did David go with a lower compression K24 vs a 3 lobe?
This is the JDM K24A 3 lobe 10:5:1 engine... similar to the K24A2 from the USDM TSX.
@@hybridracing ah good! When you said an Odyssey engine, I assumed it was the lower comp one. That thing will put down 500 wheel with no problem when boosted.
Looking into a k24a or a2 swap into my 9th gen... anything special I will need besides the standalone?
Putting one of these engines into a 9th Gen Civic can get tricky with the exhaust system so be sure to look into that first.
@@hybridracing Oh for sure! I am trying to figure out everything I need, I know I will be doing a custom turbo manifold, custom downpipe (or hood exit lol). Shall see how it goes.
What harness do I need for swapping a k24a(1) into an 88 gmc s15? 😂 I need a harness and ecu and a universal body harness for the obd2 and gauges
I suggest using the K20A/A2/A3 engine harness, 02-04 RSX ECU with KPRO and our universal adapter harness. Combine that with the 02-04 K20A2 wideband o2 sensor and you'll be able to get it up and running without any errors. Just be sure to use a switch panel with fuses and relays, etc.
@@hybridracing got a harness and ecu ordered along with the body harness, will I need to change out all of the sensors that are on my block in order for them to plug into the harness? Also does kpro eliminate the need for an immobilizer bypass?

Starting the swap and I noticed that my exhaust setup is very different from this one, mine only has 2 outputs towards the center with an oval shaped hole?
I bought a k24a last year or so because it was in my budget & my Dumbass thought it was the k24a2 💀 so now I'm wondering if I made a mistake or this going be just as capable fully built on boost.. & e85. Do I needa change head out fir a the better flowing k20 or just change out the bottom end for a k24a2 bottom end...
They are great engines and are very similar to a TSX motor, however, the accessory drive and alternator etc are different.
@@hybridracing alrighty hopefully there's no fitment issues. I'll email you guys innthe coming months when I start ordering parts because this is a custom application Inna non honda I started a while back but had post poned. And finally Inna position to continue this build.

@@bringiton196 if you have an engine equipped with the balance shaft oil pump, yes, it is a worthwhile upgrade.
That's IT!? Shit. Is it me or should we replace the clutch, the timing chain, intake etc... ??
The clutch should always be changed especially if the engine didn't have one. You can also change the timing chain and components, but you will end up spending a ton of money on that stuff and it may not always be necessary. In the case of this engine, it was not needed. The intake got replaced with an RBC as well. It's important to keep in mind that the engine should dictate what maintenance items it needs.

Man i was gonna invest into k swap but after watch few of hybrid racing videos i think its not for a busy man. Alpr of time consuming
What's a fair price for a good shop to charge for labor to do a k swap?
It really depends on the person doing it... I would judge the price based on previous work. If you pay nothing you'll probably get junk work.
