    Actually, faster cards are not necessarily better for Pi. The SD reader on the Pi 3 tops out at a measly 20MB/s, which is on par with good quality class 4 cards. However, the faster cards can have worse random read/write speeds. The random R/W performance is especially important for running a distro off of an SD card.

    I got to the point where you put the USB drive back into the computer but although I get the directories, I'm missing most of the rom folders like Amiga and Dreamcast. Also, when I first started up the Raspberry Pi and set up the game pad, my main screen only had the RetroPi whereas yours had a list of emulators that you could scroll through.
    Where did I go wrong?

      CaSius Hackett Beavers You need to use a USB Drive because retropie wont make the rom folders on the SD card. Hopefully i helped if you didn't find that out already ^^

    • @kevin_m02

      You don't need a USB Drive. You can alternatively connect the Pi to your PC or to your internet modem via network-cable and put the roms directly in the rom-folders on your pie. The folder hierarchy on the pi is the same as on the USB Stick.

    I had trouble with not booting , after the image is written to the SD card windows 10 pops up with a must format the drive message which i did. this wipes the partition you need to boot.
    windows doesn't recognize it so it asks you to format it after the image is written. Don't do it

    • @amerk6601
      @amerk6601 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, took me forever today to figure this out when I reformatted. I couldn't remember if this was an issue a couple years ago when I first did this, or part of an update. Long story short, my last SD card became corrupted, so I went to format a new one and reinstall everything, and kept getting stuck here: formatted, wrote the image to the card, asked to format again, wouldn't work in my Pi3. Finally discovered that when it asks you to format the second time (after writing the image to the card), don't do that, ignore it... and lo and behold it worked!

      Keep in mind though, that the danger of getting a virus from downloading from these sites is quite real. Be very careful. Also keep in mind that unless you own the actual physical copy of the game, you are committing piracy. You might already know the things that I just said, but ima say it anyway, because downloading shit on the internet is no joke.

    I really did click on this expecting a lot of fluff and wasted time, thankfully I was proven wrong. Very well done, and easy to follow. Your external links are also well split and easy to navigate.
    You were a big help in helping me get my pi set up, thank you.

    HOLY HELL THIS IS CONFUSING. I'm a beginner noob at this shit. all I wanna do is play Pokémon on my tv, but damn I'm not sure I can pull this off.

      what are you having an issue with, i've literally justt followed this and got it done in no more than 30 mins or so before starting to install loads more things which as he says can take hours (took like 2 hours for what i installed) but really what issues you having?

    • @sepeterson86
      @sepeterson86 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I just get overwhelmed with this sort of stuff. It seems like every tutorial on this, the demonstrator assumes we know what to click or what files to move. I just need to take a breath and give it another go down the road.

    • @MegaDefeat
      @MegaDefeat 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      but i don't get how you get lost, like, he doesn't assume anything, h shows you what to do and explains on screen step by step you can always pause to be sure you have done it right etc.. it's as simple and basic as this video :) i even used V4.0 which is a little different without any issues

    • @Impetuss
      @Impetuss 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Did you get it working? Its really not that hard, if you cant copy some files and follow a tutorial, you may need to ask yourself if this is for you, or you could pay someone for a pre set up retropie, or have someone helpe you.
