You seem very educated in music! I have a music degree and every time I hear you comment on music in a game, it's always spot on and well informed. Also, this playlist is great. Bravo!
I know it's been a while but even now, years after the fact, I'm sorry for your loss. I'm glad you were able to find comfort in such a fine set of arrangements.
Every morning when I get into work I turn on this playlist and it helps me think and be productive. I am likely responsible to have listened to this list well over 500x. Nothing to do with being a SNES lover - its just good office / thinking music
do yourself a favour and get a decent pair or headphones/speakers. They will help to separate the different sections of the music. I recommend the SR60X (I use SR80X) but note that these are open backs, so expect them to be a little different from headphones you may be used to.
Hey I found your channel like a week ago and now this is all I ever watch, your comments are great and you music taste and all. Thanks for making this for the world.
oh man, this is great! I've been working on spotify playlist with a similar theme- unfortunately this album isn't available on there but this video gives me another outlet. Thanks!
This is where the orchestral version of Gourmet Race from Kirby Super Star originated, and HO-LY SHIT, it is the best piece of music in this entire orchestral arrangement, wow, Kirby Super Star. *standing ovation
I have been looking for this for a long time: My brother had a subscription to Nintendo Power back in the day, and this CD came with one of the issues.
O_O DAYUM. I approve! :-D giorgiomx is right, we need another one of these! Maybe throw in some ActRaiser - there's a really good orchestral suite for that game. :-)
This takes me back to my childhood. I remember being amazed at how much improved the snes was from the nes and not just the graphics, it was the music from the games. After the 16 bit era, I lost interest in new game systems. It just didnt have that spark.
The musician who did the orchestral arrangements is clearly a Giuseppe Verdi huge fan. I can perfectly listen to a lot of Verdi influences on this beautiful orchestra versions.
36:06 There is a recording with English-speaking singers; I prefer that one much more. Here they are adding a second voice to emphasize Draco's lines, which sounds cool in theory, but whoever they got for that second voice sounds more like Ultros than a professional singer.
I know this might hurt a lot of people out there but personally.. listening to this compilation makes me feel that Koichi Sugiyama might have not been the absolute best japanese composer out there. These songs keep blowing my socks off right after I keep putting them back on
Looking at the Box Cover Art for Secret of Mana reminds me of back in the day. Back before the internet, back when it felt like I indeed was the only person playing the game for hundreds of miles. Just me, on an adventure with no adult (nor modern life) distractions. Nowadays, all the games just feel like well-worn, well-trodden carnival rides. There's gum stuck to every chair, there's graffiti scrawled on every wall and the entire place stinks of stale piss and poorly cleaned up vomit. Nothing is new anymore and nothing feels special.
When Secret of Mana and the ultra-low key cover art appeared - I just fell a tear almost instantly. This game just was unsurpassed as a childhood memory. And memories are often coupled with amazing music. SoM music is just one of the finest there is in the video game world. The longest goosebumps I can remember..... Also the FF6 opera alto sequence just brings back the most nostalgic feeling.
Secret of Mana is fucking gold. What bothers me is that nowadays people talk about it as a flawed classic. Yes you could overpower all bosses with the magic system but the hit detection isn't wonky as everyone is claiming, Some enemies just have very high evade and it's hard to hit them with physical attacks - that's precisely why you had spells to lower evade (Gnome) and increase hit %. Seiken Densetsu III which I played on tranlated rom was ok but it ruined the combat system - the charge to 100% dodging and darting in and out was what made the game. It was too much like Crosscode- the combat was stop and start rather than continuous which interrupted the amazing flow that Secret of Mana had. (Crosscode is still freaking excellent and I highly recommend you check it out - cross between Secret of Mana and Chrono Trigger SNES style RPG currently on Steam and finally out of early access). You need to play Celeste and Hollow knight as well. Amazing old school style games with incredible soundtracks.
These are really amazing. I wish there were better orchestral Final Fantasy tracks out there. I find the “Distant Worlds” series to mostly be uninspired and also a little flat and tinny in terms of audio quality.
Seth Wilson I agree about Distant Worlds... the Dragon Quest arrangements are really gorgeous though and played by the London Philharmonic... difference is colossal.
Nooooooooo! Not a medley!!! That means that each awesome song is cut several minutes shorter than I want it to be because it isn't it's own full song... I'm especially bummed that the Aquatic Ambience part isn't it's own full orchestral piece.
I must have listened to this mix 50 times. It is a TH-cam VGM masterpiece
goddamn, that simcity tho
Been watching your channel for years and never came across this. You should mention it more. Class.
Amazing, many years later! My favorite kind of music. 🥰
OH MY GOD. This video is amazing. Happy new year to me. Happy new year to you and yours. Everything is beautiful.

My goodness, that Sim City Theme!!! 🎶❤🔥
Damn I've barely played Earthbound but that Onett Theme shit is dank as hell
This is my favorite mix, thanks for putting it together.
You seem very educated in music! I have a music degree and every time I hear you comment on music in a game, it's always spot on and well informed. Also, this playlist is great. Bravo!
My dog just died I had to listen to 0:28 to make myself feel better, and it delivered.
I know it's been a while but even now, years after the fact, I'm sorry for your loss. I'm glad you were able to find comfort in such a fine set of arrangements.

Thanks for this. Literal goosebumps when the red wings theme came up.
This Playlist is nostalgic dream trip into the past..... 🤗
Oh, another version of the FF6 Opera.... ANNNNND I'm invested in listening to it. Still know those lyrics.
Great stuff!!!!!
I find it hard to appreciate orchestral music at home, but hearing it live - especially outdoors! - OMG, amazing.

How about a second Orchestral compilation?, these are great for working
Yep. Same here. So amazing they did that.
5 years later, but these are all just rips from Orchestral Game Concert 1,2,3,4,5 by Tokyo City Philharmonic Orchestra. They're all on TH-cam :)
I'm glad I randomly found this Channel *keepsonlistening*
Thanks for putting this together.
Hey I found your channel like a week ago and now this is all I ever watch, your comments are great and you music taste and all. Thanks for making this for the world.
Thanks for taking the time to watch
This is the video that introduced me to your channel. Cheers man.
Video idea: list of kid friendly SNES games.
I had to double-check and make sure I wasn't listening to a Dragon Quest collection LOL great work
A lot of these sound Dragon Quest-esc don't they? Haha
Now this is just amazing. I had no idea this even existed. Thanks for posting. This made my day.
First time hearing of Albert odyssey, and WOW that fucking sprite work!!
A damn shame that's never gotten a rerelease.
oh man, this is great! I've been working on spotify playlist with a similar theme- unfortunately this album isn't available on there but this video gives me another outlet. Thanks!
I don't know how I could life without this. I love you man, nice compilation
Really great stuff. I love doing orchestral versions of old game music myself and I really love this!
Great selection. Was hoping to see Gemfire in here too
It's magnificent, brings me back to life a little.
The beginning of the "Seiken Densetsu 3" section sounds like the tones from Close Encounters of the Third Kind.
jdtrim22 omg it does
The liner notes for the original album mention it, according to this (www.rpgfan.com/music-review/orchestral-game-concert-5/)
I'd heard that version of Metroid before but I had no idea these albums existed. Subbed.
This is where the orchestral version of Gourmet Race from Kirby Super Star originated, and HO-LY SHIT, it is the best piece of music in this entire orchestral arrangement, wow, Kirby Super Star. *standing ovation
there's gotta be more of these out there. what say you, snesdrunk?
can't thank you enough for this
the gmc cd's! totaly forgot these... thanks!
This is reeeeeally good.
nothing from Yoko Shimomura's Drammatica? Her orchestral renditions of the music from Live a Live and Front Mission are fantastic!
this is great
I have been looking for this for a long time: My brother had a subscription to Nintendo Power back in the day, and this CD came with one of the issues.
Love it. Simcity, FF2 and 3. Wow
Wow--the FF6 opera with REAL VOICES!!!
I still like the OG
This is amazing! thanks for sharing, Beautiful!
Wow that donkey kong is awesome
O_O
DAYUM. I approve! :-D giorgiomx is right, we need another one of these! Maybe throw in some ActRaiser - there's a really good orchestral suite for that game. :-)
wow, this collection is amazing!
this is da best!
Wow that Sim City is nothing but hair raising stuff, incredible👏
I wish the Game Music Concerts could come back.
This all sounds amazing.
Edit: 24:41 Close Encounters of the Third Kind
Tactics Ogre and SMT series had some awesome official orchestrated arrangements
This takes me back to my childhood. I remember being amazed at how much improved the snes was from the nes and not just the graphics, it was the music from the games. After the 16 bit era, I lost interest in new game systems. It just didnt have that spark.

Great playlist. The song at 1:27:00 is not Donkey Kong Country its a melodic version of Kingdom Hearts.
3 years later but its literally DK, what are you talking about ?
The red wings bit got me.
the nostangia is overcome on this one , just laid back and chill out
Wow, thank you.
It's very interesting how in this version of the FFVI opera the tenor and bass are switched.
The Uncharted Waters arrangment is very well done
The Donkey Kong track at the end is amazing
Man.... Kirby and Donkey Kong in orchestra form is an unreal experience!
36:06 There is a recording with English-speaking singers; I prefer that one much more. Here they are adding a second voice to emphasize Draco's lines, which sounds cool in theory, but whoever they got for that second voice sounds more like Ultros than a professional singer.
Love it!
1:26:09
that sounds like swing of chocobo
(from FINAL FANTASY X )
I know this might hurt a lot of people out there but personally.. listening to this compilation makes me feel that Koichi Sugiyama might have not been the absolute best japanese composer out there. These songs keep blowing my socks off right after I keep putting them back on
I loved this! Thanks for sharing. But I think you might have meant Onett's theme instead of Eagleland's theme for Earthbound :)
Dang. Was not expecting such a great piece from Sim City.
Dancing Mad deserves a place here, but also to be discovered in-game
If I could have this music in the background of my life, I would live a very pleasant life.
1:15 look that some disney movie just started...
+Alejandro Arcila That's funny, ever since you mentioned that, it's all I hear now. It really does sound like a Disney cartoon is starting
28:50 *Chrono Trigger* just made me plotz all over the place. I feeling I came climb a mountain! 😤
this is epic for elite dangerous
No Zelda?
Was it just not in the compilation? Because there are some damn good tracks in there
Wow Sim City!
haha 35:50 oooh maria
Top Tier List

+thepince Google "Tokyo City Philharmonic Orchestra Game Music Concerts," it's a series of five albums

These are really amazing. I wish there were better orchestral Final Fantasy tracks out there. I find the “Distant Worlds” series to mostly be uninspired and also a little flat and tinny in terms of audio quality.

could you make a compilation of music which fill you with nostalgia when you hear them after a long time?
pretty please?
He can only create music compilations; he can't fill you with nostalgia. Only you can do that.
Duke Ok
Now I feel dumb
Yo did you really leave out Actraiser Symphinic Suite!?!?!?
Where did the orchestrated versions come from?
Where do i find more of this? Please inform
Wow no Actraiser? Great list nevertheless

Some sour notes from the trumpets towards the end of Metroid
Perfect Playlist!!
Keep drunk!!! rsrs =P
Around 28:03 someone coughs on the right side. XD Also awesome album
What are the sources on these?
Kirby Instrumental FTW.
Did they not do any from A Link to the Past?
Daniel Bremmer or F-Zero, Castlevania, Contra 3 alien wars, and RAMPART!
Nooooooooo! Not a medley!!! That means that each awesome song is cut several minutes shorter than I want it to be because it isn't it's own full song...
I'm especially bummed that the Aquatic Ambience part isn't it's own full orchestral piece.
