Definitely. I've heard plenty of arguments for how the Genesis technically had better sound hardware, but music on the SNES has always just sounded so much better to me. I don't know if it's just a matter of the talents behind the music but the... sound fonts? Virtual instruments? Lower Maridia over Jungle Floor for SMetroid is insane to me. Also Corridors of Time should be in anyone's top snes tracks, absolute masterpiece. Nice picks, drunk.
it's proably just me, most likely because I grew up with these games I dont know. But older RPGS and classic games sound track has a feeling that beats alot of of the soundtracks to modern games..maybe Im just crazy..☺..especially the final fantsy 3 theme that opeing blew my mind when I was younger
Michael Smythe its likely a ton of nostalgia... But if it isn't just that, then I'd also point out that since newer games tend to have voice acting maybe a lot of composers create newer tracks with a "background" approach... Rather than a truly melodic and front-stage more memorable approach. That and maybe the whole "limitations in hardware spurred creativity" thing was at work too...but then again its prolly mostly nostalgia... Maybe...
Nothing on this list is short of excellent. And I can see why you went heavy on the atmospherics, albeit not exclusively. My list of very best would have more bombast and drama, e.g., boss battles, title screens, ending music, but that would make it less compatible for work. As it is, I couldn't do more than really menial stuff with my favorite childhood video games in my ear but who the hell can concentrate on anything at all while listening to the FF6 aria?
Great music taste! Listening to some of these really makes me want to revisit some of classic games. First time I ever played SMRPG I must have heard that song 50 times before I discovered where to go. Keep up the good work, enjoying your videos!

I know super late but I just ran across this after I had pretty mugged watched all your stuff ( great reviews by the way really takes me back to see this stuff) and I have to say even now hearing this stuff great selections thanks for your hard work
Ese tema de Axelay llamado “Colony” al 31:43 es una verdadera joya 💎, gracias SNES Drunk
Well done with the transitions! I like it, I literally jam on all of these tracks!
omg that song 5:25 Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest, "Stickerbush Symphony" give me chill its crazy how nostalgy is a strong thing
Lower Maridia over Jungle Floor for SMetroid is insane to me. Also Corridors of Time should be in anyone's top snes tracks, absolute masterpiece. Nice picks, drunk.
Epic selection of tracks! Nice work.
Seiken Densetsu 3/Secret of Mana 2
Same!
Great choice for number 1 and love the decision on all the rest!
it's proably just me, most likely because I grew up with these games I dont know.
Maybe...
Thank you very much for putting such lovely masterpieces in this video.
Cara, é muita qualidade. Fizeram essas músicas pra durar um século.
Top quality choices. I wouldn't change much from this list, that's for damn sure.
14:46 - Final Fantasy VI, "Terra's Theme", I love that song :3
This was so great, wonderful, took me back to when I played many of these games. Thanks much.
Dude! Thank you for this!
Damn this is a nice list. Seriously. A bit of everything from the big hits.
bless you for your work
Man, Axelay's soundtracks is one of the best of the system and it is just for an SHMUP game. I've always found this crazy.
very solid list, These are some of my favs as well
GOD this does help work. i love your channel
Great music taste! Listening to some of these really makes me want to revisit some of classic games. First time I ever played SMRPG I must have heard that song 50 times before I discovered where to go. Keep up the good work, enjoying your videos!
this is poetry to my heart and soul
That Final Fantasy soundtrack is awesome!
