With all the love of the PS1 startup, I can't understand why Sony Entertainment won't use it now or at least have an option for gamers to use it on the newer consoles.
This time period was special. I get a special weird feeling remembering those days. My brother inlaw was born in 2009 and he's 15 now. 2009 in my mind wasn't very much different than how things are now. There was the odd old computer system lingering around but the technology was very similar. By the time he was 3 years old smart phones were mainstream and they were very similar to what we have now. His time period growing up hasn't seen the changes my time period seen I was born in 1994, by the time I was 15 in 2009 we went through so many changes in style, fashion, vehicles, technology, video games... Think about it, ever since he was 4 years old there hasn't been a new Grand Theft Auto. He has been growing up playing only one GTA lol. I've been through GTA 2, 3, Vice City, San Andreas, Play station portable GTA's, GTA4, 5... I played Sammies book house, the original pong, space invaders, Cross Country Canada on an old Macintosh PC in elementary school to Crysis when I was 15. Multiple game consoles, TV technology went from giant big screen to ultra thin 4K flat screens. We seen it all man. We embraced the changes. I still remember getting a PS2 for Christmas. I was so bloody happy. We fired the thing up and I thought the graphics were so good. The PS2 for me was the largest jump in graphics I had seen into roughly what we play now. Sorry for the length, I've been awfully nostalgic lately.
@@BriggsGuy54 all good! Technology was rapidly advancing in that era, so seeing modern tech make incremental leaps by comparison might seem a little less exciting
It says a lot that one of the best recent advancements is that CRT filters and shaders like CRT Royale ReShader or physical adapters like the Retrotink is finally allowing us to return to this era of gaming with upper 90 percentile visual accuracy. I still have my library of games and consoles from this era and they're practically unplayable on modern HDTV's. The biggest jumps in visual fidelity or graphical capability were Super Mario 64 and Soul Calibur on Dreamcast. Going from 2D to 3D was mind-expanding and seeing Soul Calibur running on my childhood friend's massive family room high end CRT was mind-blowing. Unless I live to experience actual augmented virtual reality, I doubt to ever feel such a sense of wonder from simply seeing the birth of a tech era again. It has become very difficult to be excited about the current era of tech, but maybe that just means I need to start looking into creative endeavors instead of simply experiencing someone else's creativity...
