I really think things would’ve turned out a lot differently about Arctic if he didn’t accidentally kill a dozen of his own tribe with his magic while escaping. That definitely had an instant impact on his soul when Foeslayer talked to him a second later and he was all grumpy and negative, which was very out of character compared to how he was behaving before.
It definitely affected him a lot. I feel like Runaways should be a required reading, because many people don't read the Winglets. They're honestly missing out on important story events

@@Dogloverlikesdoge I didn't even realize the winglets existed until a few weeks ago, and then I spent an hour finding them all online and reading them. They were really well written and I loved them!! But no one ever talks about them, even though they fill in a lot of gaps in the stories that I had been wondering about, especially the Foeslayer(Hope?)/Arctic relationship. But I'm still glad they met, even if their romance was never going to last, otherwise things would be a LOT different. (WARNING: the rest of this comment contains a lot of spoilers for lots of books. You've been warned!) For instance, if they hadn't met, the whole Darkstalker fiasco wouldn't have happened, so the NightWings would still be on the mainland, never having been to that volcano island, never having to kidnap RainWings and not eventually ending up under Glory's rule. They would still hatch their eggs under the moons and would still have many tribe members, (their population rapidly decreased while living on the island) still live in the Night Kingdom and the other tribes would know they weren't as powerful and mystical as they pretended to be in what really happened. Also, they wouldn't have animus magic, so Stonemover wouldn't have to have been in the Kingdom of Sand to find a spot to create the magic tunnels, so he never would have met Thorn, therefore Sunny was never born. Also, the NightWings would probably have joined the war of SandWing succession, and probably would have tipped the scales with their mind reading and/or foresight. It would be pretty powerful to know your enemy's next move. Or they might not have joined the war, if a seer had a vision of a future where the NightWings fought and helped one of the sisters win, and since they're all terrible choices, that whoever ended up on the throne would plunge the kingdom into chaos. But whatever they decided to do, there wouldn't have been the dragonet prophecy, since the NightWings wouldn't have to make up prophecies to help them take over the rainforest if they didn't need a new home. So Tsunami's egg would have been crushed in the SeaWing royal hatchery, as well as Auklet's if Tsunami wasn't there to protect her. Also, Webs would not be an outlaw if he didn't have to steal Tsunami's egg. Dune would still be loyal to Thorn and Kestrel...I don't know what would have happened to Kestrel, or Peril and Sky. Starflight would live with the NightWings. Glory would live with the RainWings. Clay would live in his siblings in the Mud Kingdom. And the SkyWing eggs wouldn't have been destroyed. (plus, Hvitur might still be alive if he didn't have to attempt to steal the SkyWing egg. I say 'might' because his fate may have been to die in the war later.)
Now, I've been talking about all the effects on the NightWings, but what about the IceWings? Arctic would have been unhappily married to Snowflake, but carried on the animus bloodline. So the IceWings would still have animus magic, and honestly probably dominate all the other tribes with an extra 2,000 years worth of animus gifts. (That also may have influenced the war of SandWing succession. ) But maybe this would have been a bad thing. Like Foeslayer (Hope?) said to Winter after she was freed from her magic prison in the Ice kingdom, maybe the IceWings wouldn't have used this power for the good of all the tribes. They might have done unfair things that the other tribes couldn't put a stop to.
So yeah. I think the dragon world would have been completely different if Foeslayer and Arctic never met. Honestly, I kind of blame it all on Prudence (Foeslayer's mother) for being sick enough to bring her daughter along only to seduce the IceWing prince. Like, what the heck?
Anyway, I have to say that even though their relationship was terrible and fell apart quickly, it did end up working out for the better. (in my opinion)
@@oliviadavis3638 i doubt the sandwings war of succession would have happened since it was because the scavengers (humans) stole oasis' treasure and since most of their treasure came from the nightwings and icewings' war, which would have never happened, the eye of onyx was probably never made/enchanted
Oh and I forgot about the distant kingdoms. If Arctic and Foeslayer never met and therefore never had Darkstalker(and Whiteout), then Clearsight never would have fled to Pantala, which needed her foresight gift to help survive a series of natural disasters, and many dragons would have died. Who knows, the tribes may have been even wiped out. Also all HiveWings are descendants of Clearsight, but if she didn't go, HiveWings wouldn't exist. So no Cricket or Bumblebee or Queen Wasp. LeafWings wouldn't have been forced to hide in the poison jungle and trees would still cover Pantala. Sundew also might not exist, since her tribe would have no need to make a superpowered dragon to defeat the HiveWings. Things would be so different.
I feel like they are meant to represent young love. Tui has already confirmed that Darkstalker is based off her ex-boyfriend (with some of his quotes being direct words from him) so I feel that his parents are meant to show first crushes. They fell in love quickly, within a few minutes of knowing each other. This is usually how first crushes work. You meet someone, and feel like they are your soulmate. But after a few months and years...
You see they were just...decent.
Young love can turn out to be a very bad thing sometimes, especially when people make rash decisions

Their own dragonet also almost took over the world and got countless dragons killed, this may or may not be because of Arctic and Foeslayer, but I think they at least played a part in it.
Yeah, I agree, if Arctic and Foeslayer had a bit of a more positive relationship, maybe one of Clearsight's more positive futures would have happened.

i think that one of the huge reasons they collapsed was because Foeslayer chose her mothers approval over her love for Artic they had planned to live on an island far away from other dragons but When Prudence said that she would approve of their relationship if it brought animus blood to the nightwing tribe Foeslayer jumped at the opportunity not caring when Artic protested
Edit: oh yeah i forgot to mention that Prudence said (not a direct quote) that she brought Foeslayer there because she thought she would be the only nightwing stupid enough to fall for the icewing prince so yeah great family they got there
Definitely, they had absolutely no true family support. Although Prudence's concerns were pretty valid, though she should have expressed them differently.
Arctic and Foeslayer’s relationship is something I would definitely change in WoF. What I would’ve done is that they’d meet in secret over the years through diplomatic missions, then they’d elope to the NightWing Kingdom
I definitely agree with this, they would have never worked out. I still ship it, though. Also, I think another factor that played in Arctic's bitterness was how much he gave up for Foeslayer. Yes, the Ice Kingdom was a bit miserable for him too, but he gave up his high ranking and family to be with her, and the Night Kingdom was miserable for him too, perhaps even worse. He still had a high ranking, but it was different, and the NightWings clearly wanted his magic. He felt like an outsider who was just there because the NightWings wanted his magic. He must of been upset about that, but he couldn't back out since he had dragonets (even though he didn't love them that much) and he still loved Foeslayer. Because of this is (along with the magic, he injured IceWings when he and Foeslayer escaped) is why I believe he became bitter which contributed to the relationship not working out.
This turned out to be longer than I thought, sorry hehe.
Also, I don't think it's the magic itself that led to him becoming bitter, but him getting PTSD from accidently killing and injuring some icewings when escaping with Foeslayer and not having a good support system around to deal with it.
Finally someone pointed this points out! Everything about their relationship is a HUGE red flag 🚩 they should of took it slowly but they were doomed since the start! They started bad and ended bad. Great video once again 😄

Their "teachers" are barely adults themselves and the age gaps between students are horrid.
Its a good idea, but its excuted terribly as many dangers have happened there, including 2 deaths, and yet the queens still forgive them.

I mean there are so many obvious ways that queen diamond could’ve ended the war and so many ways dark stalker could have fixed this Number one: Diamond could have enchanted someone’s egg to be animus and when the egg hatches they could’ve married into the Royal family Diamond is the queen she can make one exception for the benefit of the tribe, Number two:If dark stalker Took one of Arctic‘s earrings and enchanted so when he put it on he’ll have all his sanity back and then bam fixed.
I think you should cover, “What if Burn, Blister, and Blaze fought immediately after Oasis’s death.”
The reason it didn’t is because of Blister’s careful planning. She set up the whole thing from the start and stayed two steps ahead of everyone. She always knew Burn would pulverize her in a dual, which is why she got the war started.
If everyone in the kingdom tried pressuring her to duel with Burn, she would’ve backed down and secretly planned another way to get the throne. If Burn ordered for her execution, she would’ve found a way to twist things around and get everyone to believe the Burn was breaking some code or tradition.
Point is, there was never going to be a timeline where the three sisters had a fair duel.
It wouldn't even be Wings of Fire anymore. The Dragonets of destiny wouldn't exist, Jade Mountain Academy wouldn't exist, and the events on Pantala would probably be different.

"Never" seems like a strong word given the points raised. What if Foeslayer was brave enough to defy her mother? What if she and Arctic were more realistic and had a 6-year (or longer) courtship period?
If insanity is indeed an intrinsic part of magic (which may or may not be true), then could it be treated like any other mental illness? I figure if any Pyrrhian country (at that time) could figure it out, it'd be the NightWings.
Nature or nurture, is, I suppose, what I'm trying to ask.
I think Arctic and Foeslayer would have had a good relationship if Arctic hadn't decided to think out the spell to stop the Icewings that what started his soul worrying or if they had an actual dating period things would have been different. Mabey even Darkstalker would have been different. Thank you for making another awesome video and can't wait for the map!

I agree that they got into a relationship WAY too fast and that their relationship was doomed from the start because of it. Almost all of my relationships (except for two and in only one of those was there genuine love and affection involved) and they usually end within the first month or so with the exception of my current relationship (my current partner and I have been together since December and it’s May now and we rushed into this relationship (against my will mind you.)).

Honestly I think if they’d gotten time to know each other they would’ve decided they didn’t want to be together. They really just don’t mix well. There’s some level of care, but they have SO much trouble getting along that if they hadn’t trapped themselves after a few good interactions the relationship would have fizzled out quickly.

I think it could have worked out if Arctic escaping didn't end up the way it did, with him killing his own tribe with his magic on accident and injuring the dragon he was engaged with severely. I do think they DID care for each other, at first anyway. but overtime it just got worst, Arctic living on the Night kingdom and not being able to go home, and everything else.

I have a question I know this isn't an au video but what if Arctic tried to take Darkstalker instead of Whiteout by putting a spell on him instead hoping his animus child would solidify the opportunity for him to get his rank and tribe back up

Ooh! I'm honestly surprised he didn't do that. Even though Whiteout resembled an IceWing more, you'd think he would want to have the honor of bringing them their animus magic back.

Yeah I completely agree plus I’m sure another factor why they both stayed together was in order to prove their parents wrong. Attic wanted to go against everything his mother wanted and so does Foeslayer as she wants to prove that they would love each other and that would be enough. Great video!

I have one word WOW
The ones you truly suffered their relationship the most or their dragonets. Darkstalker probably would have turned out much better if he hadn't been raised by a father who actively hated him and wanted him dead. On top of that If he'd been raised by a father who cared about him and wasn't constantly fighting with his mother he might have respected him enough to listen to his warnings about animus magic and might have been more careful with his spells. And may have never spirled down his dark path. Arctic, really poisoned him in a lot of ways.
There definitely love between the two, even to the bitter end. But they never resolved the issues of their relationship and took it to fast, as you’ve said. Foeslayer chose the adoration of her mother and loyalty of her tribe over her love of Arctic to run away together. With Arctic becoming bitter and cold after causing the death of multiple Icewings and never getting emotional resolve in those feelings in the Kingdom of Night. Inevitably with the loss of Foeslayer it would send Arctic over the brink, enchanting his daughter Whiteout to try and get Foeslayer back with his Son Darkstalker eventually killing him.
It’s sad that Arctic’s kindness didn’t last long though 😢

I disagree that animus magic had any effect due to it messing with the soal it was a cause but it dosent really effect the soal it basically the more you use it for bad the easier it is to use for bad

Also it seems that when the Night Kingdom fell during this time it pretty much sent all of the tribes into a dark age. Similar to the one we had here after the Roman Empire fell. Just food for thought.

I know they have doctor's but would they have like marriage counselors for the kinds that do form a marriage bond? Sounds weird but other than a good friend to talk to if they have friends at all to talk before snapping. Our pov characters aren't married, a couple probably count being basically, so we wouldn't really need to see that part of the world with why would a single person go and the few couples work really what and deeply care for the ones we do see when their together or trying to get back to the other. Sword Tail and Luna probably won't need one and chances are wouldn't be big in a next arc so most likely just some mention like the Dragons of Destiny were let to be side characters for the new ones.
I find that dragons like winter and artic, who fell for nightwings, would never have good relationships with them. This is because winter ( kinda artic) felt embarrassed to have loved a dragon from a different tribe, feeling disloyal, and hating them. That's why ships like Lynxter work out so well, because winter doesn't feel disloyal liking an Icewing which makes it easier for him.

At the end of the video I discuss more into detail as to how both Foeslayer and Arctic could have ended their toxic relationship. I'd say the fault goes to both of them on that part because they kept thinking "I can fix him/her."
Obviously yes, Foeslayer never should have taken Arctic's abuse. But that was kind of the whole point of this video... she had opportunities to get herself out of the situation and kept lying to herself about how she could fix him.
