@@lorin7516, I get it but I don't agree. Islam has never been "reformed" as Christianity had been, and basically there are other huge differences. For many Christians nowadays, religion is rather a tradition and at the end of the day more or less trying to live according to the 10 commandments and an occasional church visit will do the trick. As opposed to this, Islam is far more strict and demanding with daily routines and practical religious doctrines. I am talking about average terms. Even the most lenient form of Islam is more strict than the stricter versions of Christianity. And many Muslims consider Islam more like a mixture of religion and politics which does not tolerate anything else eventually. There are always exceptions and I know some. But unfortunately these are serious issues which totally justify and give meaning to an occasional "cough" into such a debate.

      He is right though.
The best you can do as a leader is make decisions that benefit the majority of the people, as there will always be people who don't agree with your policies.
That's why there are so many problems with all kinds of minority groups in modern politics that could easily be solved by just ignoring them.
Once you start listening and catering to minorities (Hillary, Pelosi) instead of doing what is best for most people (or as Hillary called them, "deplorables"), you get an umbalanced society that eventually comes crashing down.
I don't approve of the way women are treated in Gilead at all, but in a world where fertility is at an extreme low, women who prefer a career over having children is unacceptable because the survival of the human species is more important than individual freedom and having a career.
And the same of course goes for men.
So at its core (and minus the religious bullshit) the Sons of Jacob were right; they did save humanity, but they took it to an extreme by treating women like cattle.

It's more of a critique or warning about a totalitarian fundamentalist version of Christianity. And Christianity being the predominant religion in North America (where the story takes place), it is not out of context. It sounds like your family are lovely people. That's good to hear. Also, I wasn't imploring people to "Read the book" for the sake of reading, but to respond to the question being asked.

I haven't watched the shpw, so I don't know if I have the right to say this, but after reading both books, The Handmaid's Tale and The Testaments, I have to say that Aunt Lydia isn't the terrible person she seems to be in the first book. All the things she does, everyone she betrays, everyone she abuses, yes, I know it all happened, but when you see things from her perspective, you really can't help but admire her will to survive, her will to adapt. Of course, this doesn't justify everything she does, of course it doesn't even come close. But still, I think it's unfair to call her a villain. She's just a human, with a misguided but still incredible urge to keep on living. And I think she deserves some credit for that.
*Note: I'm sorry if this was offensive; I'm not trying to start a fight or anything, but I just thought I should take the chance to defend one of the best characters from the series (in my opinion).

In literally every single one of the other 48 and DC, abortion is permitted up until at least 22 weeks, well beyond your idea of 14 weeks when the infant's life should be protected. So basically all but 2 states allow for abortion a full 2 months beyond the point where you said life should be protected. So how are Republican states the problem here? There have been infants born premature who have survived at 20 weeks.

So you want to talk equality?
      I give you equality.
The job market is already competitive as it is.
For men to make money they need to put in their blood, sweat, and tears.
While women are able to make huge profits from the sex market not needing to do any of the above.
Either that be traditionally prostitution or being dancers. But more common now is only-fans, Instagram, tik-tok, and other social media.
Women have hundreds of avenues to make a profit in the hundreds of thousands of dollars at a very young age. While the average man at the same age would just get by working minimum wage jobs or make a little better pay through backbreaking manual labor. That is why more workplace deaths are men, and why men work more hazardous jobs. We need to struggle to make a living.
Or the other option which are illegal but offer jobs where you don’t need to break your back, but only risk your entire future. Why do you think men are drawn into criminal work? Selling drugs etc? Drawback is more men are in the prison system then women.
Again, because for men to make money we need more then just our looks.
Men are inherently born with no value in comparison to women. Men have to create value in life, while women can just be.
Women have the option to exploit their bodies and make a net worth of millions by the time they are 25 off of the sexual market. Why this is to begin with? For women to make this much money from men online is because there is a direct imbalance in the sex market.
But to you, it is empowering to make profit off of exploiting men?
The average man is having less sex then ever before. This again is from statistics.
Due to the introduction of online dating, a woman can get option from hundreds of men. From which they only choose the 1 or 2% of the best which she’d label ‘attractive’.
But tell me how many men can fit the modern woman’s expectations from a man?
Such as having a six figure salary?
All women look for something that is better, they believe they deserve the cream of the top.
Do men think the same? No.
Why is it that men are perfectly fine with dating a mcdonalds worker, and women are not?
Why it is that every woman if not look for money from a man, look for ambition and goals?
Is it the same with men? No.
You want to discuss equality as if we are the same. But the reality is we are different. You only want the benefits of being a man but not the drawbacks. You don’t want the manual labour jobs but the jobs in the managerial positions. You don’t want to die with men in the frontlines as soldiers but sit back and complain about patriarchy.
Men are distilled not to complain about our problems but only listen to yours. But it is statistically proven that an average man’s life is far harder then a woman’s life can ever be.
You do not share our difficulties in life, and you have zero empathy for any difficulties men have. And you expect modern men to give you any empathy in return?

on page 207, the main character said she's 33 now and she remember that when she was 7 years old her mother told her of the holocaust story that happened 40 years ago
    1945+40-7+33 = 2011

Women’s rights once won are not forever unless we are vigilant in making sure we continue to move forward ( as can be seen in the politicisation of abortion and birth control). As a woman with brothers, sometimes I over hear them talking about things in a way that worries me because they don’t understand how that particular view or change would impact a woman negatively, because they don’t experience it and have never had to worry about it. For you, you might think that some women are over reacting or not doing the work in areas where it needs to be done, but tell me how you work to ensure that our work is not undone, or how you help women (like those in Afghanistan) who live a restricted life because of their gender? And honestly, there is no need to "keep the momentum of change going" when in this country, there really isnt anything else that should be changed, and it is a waste of time, money and energy to do "AcTiViSm" for things like womens pants needing pockets, and tampons needing to be free, and man spreading and normalizing painting with period blood. If someone wants to be a feminist, cool with me, but if they want to say they're a feminist and whine about trivial shit from a country where they have never had a body part chopped off for learning to read or been hidden from society whenever they have their period or be killed for having intercourse out of wedlock, then they're not a (real) feminist, they're just trying to be trendy and woke while not understanding any real issues, and that's not cool with me.

At nearly 80 years old, Biden needs to take his ass home, sit down in a comfortable chair with a blanket over his lap and eat a bowl of warm soup. That's where he should be. Not campaigning for President.

Being homosexual and Autistic Asperger I'm really open-minded and I've a huge imagination and I don't really see that show like weird, weird to me means inexplicable. the show once you saw it it's not difficult to understand. Also what is weird for someone doesn't mean is weird for everyone. Actually when I watch the show I realize how crazy is it this can be happening in real life and when you see how much women rights are ignored and minorities are treated horribly in Georgie and Alabama. I'm not even surprised someone has imagined this world and I wouldn't be even less surprised if it was happening in real life. The most of people let themselves be led by a religion or beliefs and if ever they had power trust me, this show wouldn't be a fiction but definitely a reality.
Sure it's crazy, and obviously I don't want something like that ever happen in real life. But even if it's completely insane I'm not ashamed to say I really love that show and the fiction is really well imagined
