    I've been riding the 2022 version of this bike in XL for 2800km's near Whistler Canada since Oct 2021. I'm jealous of the 800wh battery on the 2023, it makes it an even better value. The Reign E+ is a reliable tank but does have some issues in the rainforest conditions I live in (crank spindle bearings), any ebike would. I've bumped up the Zebs travel to 180mm and upgraded the airspring and damper to RC3 it took a good fork and made it plush, calm and collected. I've also gone to a 60mm stroke rear shock instead of the 57.5 and I've found no negatives. I really like the mullet setup and really prefer the Michelin Wild Enduro tires out back nothing smaller than 2.6, with a tire insert I can run as low as 19psi in the wet. In the XL the rear center is 456mm and front is something like 505mm and the bike is well balanced for me. When I was riding on some low angle fast trails I could really feel the difference my body position made and was able to go from two wheel drifts to rear wheel drifts, corner to corner. That was a great day of riding with a little wet with a mix of tacky and slick conditions. I look forward to taking this bike out every chance I get that even when it's snowing, lol.
    Shout out to Josh Carlson for helping develop this bike, nice work mate.

    This bike looks sick in all black. The first one I have seen. Looks evil!! (At least I thought it was all black 🙈)

    All I know is that ebikes are the next best thing to MX bikes.
    88-90 PSI is good in the Zeb (I settled on 90 for overall stability without blowing through the stroke, but 88 can feel slightly better for mid corner bite and grip).

      no doubt, I also have a Surron and it just sits there now... out of all my bikes, I'm on the pedalec 80% of the time. It's like the best of all worlds and you can ride them anywhere without getting hassled. One of humanities best inventions IMO.

    I rode my mates reign E the other day and was super impressed. Even tho it was set up quite abit to light for me as I got 10kg on him.
    It felt amazing.
    I hope you put your front wheels on with the maxxgrip and give this bike a proper review for us.
    One thing I can suggest is run it in high position to stop it grabbing pedals.
    Everyone I know with one including Josh Carlson tend to run it in the high position.
    It’s still stupid low in that spot.
    Also insider secret. It’s head angle is actually 62.5ish in low mode if you check it properly

      @@mtbtelly5522 thanks for the video, this has just confirmed all the feelings I got in just 1 short lap when I swapped bike with a mate last weekend. His got the top model.
      I’ve been shopping around for abit for the next bike, But I think it’s the winner.

    On balance - they do seem to stack-up to one of the better options out there.
    Mates got a '21 model and has been thrashing the daylights out of it, still going strong with a good DT Swiss Wheelset thrown on it.
    What pressures you running in the Mazza's being fat 2.6's?
    Have only run a 2.4" Enduro Case out-back on the Slash and love it (22psi today in conditions that look a bit like yours).
    Just clocked up 1500km and the side-knobs are starting to tear-off - still feels better than the DHR II (in it's prime) that it replaced.

    If you had to choose between this and the Alpine trail which one would it be and why?
    Is there really a difference between Fox 38 and the Zeb?

    G'day Telly,
    I'm now in the market for an ebike
    I'm looking at the Marin e2 and the current reign e2..
    Comparing the 2 , what would you say are the pros n cons ..?
    My preference would be the more playful bike

    Awesome bike! Now I can’t decide which one to go with, the Reign or the Alpine E2 from Marin... both have very low bottom bracket heights, did you experience pedal strikes on both bikes? Nice job!

    • @mtbtelly5522
      @mtbtelly5522  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah they both sit low. Pedal strikes are there but not terrible. Less on the Marin maybe? Not sure though

    Hey mate you’ve ridden a few eebs now. What’s your opinion on sizing. I’m 179 and forever stuck between M&L. Always sized up on regular bikes but is it better to size down on the emtb?

    • @mtbtelly5522
      @mtbtelly5522  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ignore size letters and go by reach and wheelbase. For me at 174cm I like a 1225-1250 wheelbase, and a 460-470 reach, so I look for bikes within that range. Your size would benefit from 1230-1270 wheelbase, 470-490 reach

  • @matthornton44

    Finally a proper shock linkage on an e-bike. The ones I have seen previously all increase stiffness at the shock mounts, which if not perfectly aligned (which they never are) increases wear and tear on the shock seals etc.
    Edit-But I commented too soon. Trunnion mount, same issue as the rest.

    Are we still recommending this bike , I’m looking at getting my first ebike and it’s confusing with so many options.
    The 24 models( which I think are pretty much the same bike ) are running out at a good price brand new .
    My analog bike is a l nukeproof mega and it’s a perfect fit , I want to keep both The l reign e+ is very similar in reach and stack , slightly longer wheelbase but that will be probably be offset a bit with the mullet . I like the idea if running 2 bikes having bikes that feel similar in the cockpit .

    • @mtbtelly5522
      @mtbtelly5522  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yeah its killer. If you live in a hot climate with big long 30 minute climbs you may see the motor go in to conservative mode as it builds up too much heat, but that only happened once to me on a long warm climb

    Looked like a cushcore valves anyway. So I’m assuming it had cushcore 🤷🏼‍♂️

    • @mtbtelly5522
      @mtbtelly5522  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yep hes gone cushcore front and rear. Only had the bike for a couple days so no long review or further testing. But yeah a dhf dhr2 combo on this thing would have it screaming. Pretty killer with the mazzas as well
