Strava says 18.12km and 960 metres of elevation gain. That hill is a hardcore pinch near the top. It blows my calves up too much on a normal bike so I ride the long way round or walk that bit usually. This bike flew up the hill with a little effort at around 200 metres per climb. Interesting ... TrueTune might be an option.
That chain is an absolute disaster. It's definitely not the lube's fault I have been using it for years with no failure. As a matter of fact your entire drive chain is in shambles. This lube isn't meant to resurrect from the dead.
Do you prefer the Bontrager wheel over a stiffer one in the front?
Ruined with non stop ads, greedy 👎👎👎👎👎
@@AwesomeAngryBiker thats odd because I only choose to have ads at the beginning and end of my vids. TH-cam may be gouging free advertising from me
What do you use for an air pump? Mine keeps letting all of the air eggshells I unscrew it.
@@keithwalters1055 get a fresh shock pump, they start doing that when the rubber grommet within the attatchment bit starts deteriorating
Shimano XT czy Shimano Saint ?
Interesting that you say Squirt las longer with 3-4 rides while Smoove only 2. So far I read the opposite in comments.
@@Gieszkanne gotta find your preference. After all the years of riding and trying different lubes I always end up back on Squirt
@@mtbtelly5522 I never tried Squirt. My experience with Smoove is that the chain gets noisy quick and the wax built up is quite sticky. I dont like that. But some report the same issue with Squirt. Have you tried Effetto Mariposa Flower Power wax?
Better than the old marin alpine e2 you tested? cheers 🍻
@@fernandom6811 the marin had a more plush rear suspension performance, but the Trance x fits a drink bottle no problems. I’d say the Marin was for downhill laps, the Trance X is for everything

@@dirtcheapdownhill2848 i had the shop set the different bladder pressures as this is a needle setup kind of like pumping up a basketball. And they use nitrogen to keep pressures consistant

What’s the difference between the two shock mounts? Which one is more progressive
Cool review. I’m looking at these now to replace my new Nukeproof Sam Hill Enduro Oil Slicks. They’re hard for me to get my natural foot position on, and with the offset, my foot is at an angle, so my heel clips the crank every turn. I’m going to get thrown soon. This is my third ride, and I can’t suffer them anymore.
Same with mine No more maxxis next time And maxxis not cheap also💩
Really want to try a coil fork for my steel enduro bike but wonder if it is going to loose the pop and just feel a bit vague. Right now I am on the Lyrik 2.1 and sd coil on the rear and the bike is super comfortable but sometimes I wish for a stiffer front end. I love that lyrik though.. compliant and playful. Is the Z1 stiffer?
I’d say the z1 and the lyrik are very similar in terms of chassis stiffness
Did you go back to one token because you were bottoming out, or was it just a better feel from the spring? I've haven't ridden it yet but I just pulled my last token out. I'm heavier and on a more progressive bike however, but other than not getting full travel I had no issues with 1 token or even 2. Agree the shock is sensational!
Literal snow in adelaide
This is exactly what I needed. I've got a very twitchy e bike. Thanks
im only 5'10 asian dude, im so lazy to cut my bars i just ride the 800mm bars , gotten used to it haha
I agree with pressure I always recheck them at lunch when I am at park
Step 1: throw in bin Step2: buy shimano😂
What size is the mounting hardware?
I’m not sure sorry, this was quite a while ago
Did some digging and found it. Thanks!
lmao bro you are just pulling air into the syrnge not out of the fuild
i was wrong, i do think your pulling some air in aswell.
Man any more vids? Sorry but enjoy your vids✌️
Hey bro, yeah there will be more. Sorry for the current lack of vids
there is absolutely no way you have syringes of high enough quality where air won't get past the seals - especially the SRAM bleed kit, this won't achieve anything. you pull a vacuum during the final bleed process anyway with both syringes upright, this way the quality of the seals do not matter.
Whats the specs of that rear shock? would like to run the same =)
Its a 230x57.5 bomber CR with a light compression tune
A rip off bleed system by bad design. Its easier to bleed motorbike brakes, plus its cheaper and quicker to do.
I put on a set of ex 471 laced to i9 torch hubs 9 years ago and they are flawless on a trek slash 27.5. They have done everything from climbing to park days. Not one complaint.
Has anyone tried this and the Speed? Heard great things about these but the speed seems to have more padding and more cutouts for flex on the base - so could be comfier?
Ahh I haven’t seen the speed. I’ll check it out
I’ve just got a Vitus sommet and I find it really draggy when pedalling. Coming off a hard tail. Will this help? How can I setup my shock to limit pedal bob? Nice vid mate
Appreciate these videos. This bike was on my short-list and your opinions helped me decide, just ordered one!
What advantage would u say you have from running the bar that rolled back? Just curious. I run my setup I would say rolled slightly forward from a standing position, mostly for shoulder and elbow position. Would love to get your feedback
More control of the front wheel, like a steering damper kind of not really. The more forward I roll the bars the sketchier the steering gets and the easier it becomes to tuck the front. Its all about the hand position relative to the front axle. Too far back is no good either. Ever bar has a sweet spot relative to the stem length you’re running
@@mtbtelly5522 thanks for the feedback. I might have some experimenting to do…
@@blakekennard7700 for sure. Play with it and just do a heap of lefts and rights and figure 8s on the street, that will help you understand the feeling between the different positions, then you can choose a spot that feels most confident
Thanks for the tip
first run today on a new bike, paired the SDU coil w/ a Zeb on a big rig.. and i got 31-32% sag with 2 turns of the spring nut. i added 2 clicks of HSC, 1 click of LCS, and 2 clicks of HBO. i think the rebound may need to be damped just a click (iirc, RS says i should use 9 clicks from open) but overall this thing already performs like a champ.
Auto sag rules
Great talk through of what to expect. Thanks.
How did you solve the problem that occures out of the difference between the 1.8 super tapered lower headset bearing versus the 1.5 "normal" tapered shaft of the fork?
I don’t believe there was a difference. The steerers between the 2 forks are the same size so the swap was simple
After Onza Porcupine I can’t go back to Maxxis or Vittoria,it has the pattern from Mazza and a very good rubber, I can’t go back to anything else I’ve ridden in the last 30 years
Oh wow, thats a big compliment to the Porky
Have you tested a Marin Rift Zone e 2
No I haven’t, but it looks killer
They look great too! Especially that colour! ❤
Just brought a new reign ex 1 that comes with fox factory 38 and x2 , Out of interest seeing as you like the 38 , what would you pair it with in the rear out of choice ? I’m wondering how it would go with the rockshox super deluxe coil ?
I’d run a DHX2 out back, or if you prefer air the 2024 X2 is hard to beat. I’m not enjoying the new superdeluxe coil as much as I was hoping for. It runs a thicker damping oil than previous models and creates a harshness that is way out performed by my marzocchi bomber coil. It has all the tech to be an exceptional shock, but needs a lighter damping oil in my opinion. Same as the vivid air. Both I believe use 7wt oil now
@@mtbtelly5522 interesting, I’ve been watching your videos on suspension for years , since the days I had a trek remedy same time as you and always got the impression you leaned more towards rockshox than fox , if I’ve got the 2024 reign ex 1 , would that be the 2024 x2 on it would you think ? I’m early days , only 2 rides in so a bit to sort out yet before I know how much I like the set up
@@camwells9726 yeah it should be the 24 X2. Yeah in the past I’ve found better performance from rockshox forks than fox, and the rear shocks have been consistently more reliable than the fox offerings, but fox have done the work and produced high performers at the moment where rockshox are back to the experimental phase and aren’t producing the same suppleness from my experience. Its mainly a matter of oil thicknesses and maybe some tuning philosophies. Once I confirm my theory on the oil thickness I’ll have an answer on whether the new RS stuff is truly great with the right damping oil. For now its just my assumptions based on experiences so far
@@mtbtelly5522 I don’t know suspension as well as you , but it sounds like I’ve done ok on this bike then
@@camwells9726 yeah thats a pretty solid spec

After getting my order canceled ages ago for my Reign, I have the opportunity to buy a 2023 Adv pro 1 in that nice Diamond/carbon paint for over 40% off Do you think the new reign is still worth it? Do you think large is correct for me at 182cm?
I think its a great bike. And yeah a large should be perfect for you
Just built mine I am fired up
Just purchased the Springdex for my 2023 Rockshox Super Deluxe Ultimate. Love it!!!!
@MTB Telly sir, marazochi coil z1 or 2022 generation lyrik ultimate ? What would be your preference ?
Z1 with a grip2 damper for sure. The 2020 Lyrik ultimate with the B1 spring is hard to beat, but I wasn’t a fan of the C1 spring in the 22 lyrik. Problem with the Z1 is spring availability. I’ve been waiting for this damn spring since I got the fork, and I’m still waiting. So that sucks. Their spring rate chart is wildly inaccurate as well. Says I should be on a medium which is dangerously soft for my 78kg, I’m running the firm spring at full preload to get enough support. The xtra firm (55lb) should be perfect for me, and maybe just a touch stiff on the slower more technical trails
@@mtbtelly5522 thank you for detailed response, sifu
How about the price
What's that on the bar? phone mount?
