Eurobike 2024 Hall 9: what GCN don't show you! A real bike show experience (Day 1)
ฝัง
- เผยแพร่เมื่อ 2 ก.ค. 2024
- This is day 1 of Eurobike with tech and gear that you can actually buy, from the brands that make it. A lot of the brands won't be widely known but this is how the bike industry really is.
Most of hall 9 is closed off for public viewing. Only trade and press/media are allowed in it. A lot of the western brands make deals with far eastern manufacturers.

Edit: Hot off the press. I just saw a load of guys from Classified come out a meeting with Wheeltop ( who make the electronic shifting)
Wheeltop having a mare with their android app, and have priced themselves out of the market, especially with MTB
@@germurphy4986 I think they are going to have a cut.
they want to do the same thing than with trp ?
Aren't Classified and TRP in bed with each other? Or is Wheeltop also somehow involved in their new groupset?
I like the previous version with removable batteries. But patents are the reason we can't have nice things. Can't believe you can patent removal batteries.
Surprise to me that Hambini wasn't met at the door with some disgruntled bike manufacturers' Restraining Order.
nice to know you shit yourself too when someone shouts "HELLO HAMBINI FANS" from no where. cheers for the vid. hugely insightful for someone who's never been or seen these.
Aww dude I'm super jealous! I would have loved to mooch around some of those stands, maybe next year! Great coverage tho, that 3D printed carbon frames was WILD, and glad you bumped into the Qvist geeza, can't wait to see how that pans out...
I think you would have really enjoyed it last year. It was a lot smaller this year. Much less tat
Should have put on a hat and fake moustache to get a ride on one of those rental Shimano bikes
You know when you have made it when a large company won't let you test ride their cranks. It says a lot from Shimano.
"A lot" means a stiff upper lip, not?? Rgr
I didn't know they let in kids unsupervised! Thanks for your service Hambini!
Thank you for showing us the show, like you see your hairdresser: nude and at her best and her worst. Never change Mr Hambini.
Just because you're in public doesn't mean you should lower the volume of "HELLO HAMBINI FANS!!!"
Oh man..😂 they must love to see you coming to their stands! Keep up the good work!
whoa... those AVIIAV rims are flash!!! (weird ass company name, had to look that up) Props to them for acknowledging their prior reaming and giving ol' Hambini the time of day. That goes a long way in my book.
There is another Korean bike frame manufacturer brand with weird name too. Wiawis bike. 😅
As Korean American living in the US, sometimes I cringe at their naming sense.
Those korean wheels looked incredible. 200g extra for looking that good is a no brainer. great work from whoever did them.
I’d be terrified to ride them, they’re absolute art
@AndrewTSq.......look terrible to me - but hey, if you are into 'bling', knock yourself out! [by the way - read my comment about 'hidden nipples' - an absolute recipe for disaster!]
@@thesoultwins72 for some reason, it feels like you work for another bike wheel company.
Absolutely love them! I need a pair of those in my life. I can lose 200g to compensate.
I looked them up cause they looked great. Dang...they're crazy expensive.
Uuh! Thanks for covering this stuff - love to see it! ❤ This is always the most interesting stuff.
Thanks for showcasing Korean manufacturers. I think too many Korean people buy $10k road bikes from well known western brands as entry level road bike.
Ergonomic handlebar from Wheellab looks very interesting.
If they only come in tortoiseshell, only the blind will buy those
the aliexpress aisle is the most interesting one
Wrists are angled at about 19° but few manufacturers seem to understand that! good to see somebody who knows...
OMG those bling Aldo wheels! I never knew I needed disco wheels...
the hi-light titanium frame is crazy
Thanks Hambini, bring some more and please show some MTB stuff 😊
it is awesome to have a user level reviewer into new players in cycling industry, thank you Hambini! great content!
Yes Hambini! Finally ❤
I loved to see you in the background of the GCN Italy video from today 😂 (at min 5)
Loved the view of things I don't normally get to see. Thanks.
Great coverage on some sweet gear!
you always seem like such a fun guy when actually interaction with other humans
I have Kin Lin wheels on an early 90s Concorde road bike hanging behind me. I believe they were the stock wheels. They are doing great.
Satchin a Proper walk around, Cheers!!
Please post more of these videos!
Thanks!!!
need more of such coverage....
Does Shimano really hold a grudge? They seem to be down on Shane Miller as well. Its 2024, these guys need to get a modern brand manager.
Top tour…. Keep at it Sir
I just love the idea of random conference attendees wondering why that man was screaming into a camera.
cool stuff
Machined titanium hubs! ❤
Can you do something on the 3d printed frame please. How do they get the strength without the matting?
I have built wheelsets with KinLin rims over the years. Their rims are widely available through UK outlets such as The Cycle Clinic and Spa Cycles. As Hambini says, they are often rebranded.
They're an OE outfit from southern Taiwan with a long history in the business
1:05 Powerway, always had a soft spot for them.
I had the PHR 36 hub you're looking at on a pair of Superteam rim brake wheels back in like 2016
You should carry a kitchen scale in with you next time.
Is that bafang frame specific or is it bosch compatible? 9:51 I wish you could have given a decent look at the fender/box carrier.
Superb
Never knew I needed mother-of-pearl rims
Love it. Been a huge fan of Ali Express…Carbon manufacturers etc producing decent alternatives to mainstream brands for past 12 years now. Especially after the biggest wealth transfer in history since 2020 ,has seen prices rise ,as Global Corporations make record profits…
Nice, didn't know you were going
The Aldo wheelset looks very bling!
Also the other Korean stuff is quite intriguing
Wow… mother of pearl on the Korean rims; very extravagant!
Were you followed by any men in black?
😂
I've been trying to find them.
@@Hambini They probably lost their way. Hired by Shimano, I´d guess..... Rgr
Very interesting.
Kinlin rims are insanely good. My alloy clinchers are 1100g!!!
Did you see Waltly at all? I heard they were there this year.
What you said is very true. I've 2 different types custom built with power way hubs and pillar spokes (dbl and also triple butted). Really light, strong, smooth riding and stays true
Alloy clinchers for 1100g? I don't believe you, my 2005 Zipp 202 tubulars are 1050g.
@@strobelightnetwork4541 I've a pair (clincher) at 1370 grams (excluding skewers) custom built with power way hubs and triple butted spokes. They are strong
@@strobelightnetwork4541 It's legit! Kinlin XR200 rims - 380g! The braking surface is good but tends to wear down fast in the wet UK winters though.
5:50 the mtb frame in the background looks nice and classic
Did you check out the lightbicycle stand? i hear they have new polymer fiber spokes
That was the most reserved “Hello Hambini Fans!” I’ve ever heard you say. Come on man, you’ve got to say it louder to piss people off 😂
Good on you for showing these.
Finally some cool stuff. Was kinda dissapointed by the mainstream coverage. 🙂
GCN is for Cat5 cyclists and for those who drink Specialized cool aid, thank you for the feature boss man.
Rolling piece of art eh?! Marketing overload.
What was the printing time for the frame and how long does it normaly take to make this frame?
Hello Hambini what are your thoughts on the exar budget db50 base series wheels
What watch are you wearing?
One need to be fair and say that QA & QC is the problem with manufacturers siting in Halle 9, not the production itself.
What’s the value behind buying carbon wheels for 300 and hoping it’s one of the good or it’s one of the bad ones?
We shouldn’t play lottery with our body
Bafang is said to finally release m560 750w publicly at Eurobike. Please go take a look and ask how they have (if they have) solved the noise problem!
Also I'm literally been building my LightCarbon LCE971 this week! Should have shown more of the booth so I could have seen if anything new out!
Let me know if you see or know of Koozer Xm490 Pro hub! I have bought them to test!
Those Light Carbon frames look nice.
Also, those 3D-printed Ti frames toward the end. Who was the manufacturer?
Look closer at the end at the clip of these frames... Rgr
There's massive change in the bike market. Gone are the days of the large mainstream brands and their dominance.
Why?
@2.30..........'hidden nipples' are a really bad idea IMHO. Erosion is pretty much inevitable due to the egress of water inside the rims [ie: rain, washing bike etc]. I experienced this with a set of Reynolds wheels - pretty much every time I went for a ride a spoke would break. Have steered well clear of internally fixed nipples ever since.
Free the nipple...
Exactly, not everything should be made to look "better"
Their fear when you approach the stands 😂
Mr Hambini, I have a round tube road bike that i try to go fast on. Which is fastest from a drag pov? no bottles, 2 aero bottles or 2 massive bottles to try to fill up the frame space? cheers. m
Training
1:20 That 88 g. carbon front hub looks light! I wonder what's the price? For half a year I searched hub to repair my old wheel and found old-stock new Bitex RSPF, 16-spoke, full aluminium, scale showed 96 g.
Powerway are good to deal with.. Rgr
3:30 who else supplies h-works or whatever that was called?
Luke at Trace Velo is awesome, that Aliexpress stuff can be more than reasonable. As for Kin Lin? They've been going for decades, Taiwan's answer to Araya perhaps (who were ubiquitous on lots of bikes in the 1980 and early 1990s)
Are there bikes there which fit properly and don't go 12" to the side with each pedal stroke and crash on perfectly smooth roads?
1st company to make a rear derailleur which pairs to both Shimano and Sram will make so much money. By the way things are going, it's only a matter of time.
Would you have any concerns about riding a 3D printed carbon frame as compared to traditionally made ones?
Wonder how balanced those bling korean wheels are with those random looking custom mother of pearl inlays?
The Powerway hubs are old, I've had those on my rim brake bike for about 3 years. They are good hubs though.
Is L-TWOO there? I'm told they were on the list, then disappeared a few days before the show. They won't honour the warranty on er9 groups I bought from them. I installed 5, 3 broke, 1 is barely working. They replaced only 2. They ghost, they move the goal post, really terrible experience.
Hworks. Can you enlighten me as to who they supply? DT Swiss by any chance. I’m sure they also supply the FarSports RD hubs?
Ray's business card is beautiful
6:05 what material is the 3D frame made from?
They were quite cagey over it and simply described it as carbon. I think it's a carbon mix with something.
@@Hambini Can carbon be a liquid?
at work we use nylon filments that a reinforced with carbon fibres. since you only heat it up to about 90°C, the short carbon fibres keep theire structure and reinforce the printed structure. it is not as stabil as pure carbon fibre products, but way more flexible. those frames look similar to the stuff we produce for rushed prototypes ...
What do you think about XDS providing bikes for Astana Hambini? They are already supplying the Chinese National Team and Henan where I live. The boss of cycling here and Shane Sutton (coach) told me they were at the meeting in Shenzhen to get it approved. Starts at the end of the year for Astana after the Willier contract is up. 10 year partnership.
You really need to get your hands on an XDS and ream like there’s no tomorrow!!!!
Did you say flash or gash?
Did you change your hairdresser?
Powerway were (are ?) supplying ICAN wheels. I don't recommand their entry low budget R13 hub, although they are light, they are not stiff enough (I've replaced the back hub with a Hope Pro 4). Maybe R36 carbon are better... ?
Hambini hello - Hambini video
Hambini hello followed by pumping beats - peaktourque video
Lmao... The first hubs you look at are what are on my bikes. A buddy of mine hand builds wheels using those hubs. I have multiple sets of wheels with +10000kms of use with absolutely no issues.
Ltwoo TT and magene electronic groups?
2:20 Oh these are beauties!
thank you. cool products.
shhhhhhhhhhame shimano.
At least with the electronic shifting its probably easy to remap the shifting buttons 😅
I'd love to see a hub with a catalog of replacement parts so when it blows up the bike shop can fix it.
I am riding 12-15k - never had „blown up hubs“ so far 🤣 also cheap DTs do not „blow up“ … do not buy crap!
I've just returned from ALDI and they swore no wheels are available
This review... it didn't suck.
Did sturmey archer has anything new, interesting? You mentioned them but didn't show anything.
they. belong to SunRace and just do their legacy parts for Brompton and low/entry bikes. Nothing new for ages.
@@FuchsHorst sad to hear it. Trying to find for cheap their 2 speed kick back planetary hub, just a dream for minimalist look as I think. Wish anyone redesign it to be lighter and brake to be more pleasant to use (have to work as a courier in a new country, testing a lot of old stuff on the streets)
mother of pearl
So the area which is really interesting is not allowd for public. I am really lucky that i haven't visited this event since a long time. Even back when it was in Friedrichshafen there have been more E-Bikes then real bikes so more like IAA to me.
It is accessible for public.
But more importantly, is the pen working ?!?!
Is there a hairdressing booth?
I'm glad the guys at plastic tennis rackets inc. have found a new market in overpriced plastic frames. Too bad they didn't develop a standard functional geometry for super-sketchy crash-magnets as well.
Hey, does this bike go in a straight line? We don't know, is that important?
Does Rebecca do hair on the side?
take a look for yourself th-cam.com/video/kT3FIoC6lIs/w-d-xo.htmlsi=BupTkOBVR_UvecrO&t=444
Ha ha. This is where the sausage is made. It would be fascinating to spot upscale brand reps having ad hoc business meetings with bargain basement manufacturers.
The narrow bar is great… but you can get a 20cm gap for free. Any bar bangs in that far. That’s what I personally do.
you just go on crashing until it's perfect?
