Four Roses is the pinnacle of what every distillery should model. They actually have attainable product that is top tier at every price point. So sick of allocated bourbons that started as $30 dollar bottles that became popular, then allocated, then 6X in price but the flavor doesn’t hold up to the new price.I’ll take Four Roses all day.
After this video, I'm going to buy a bottle or two. You are so right. I can go into store after store and find their product.
While I have limited experience with 4R, I couldn't agree with you more on the $30->$180 allocation crap. It's absolutely ridiculous. Even beyond the sad reality that people are making these bourbons status symbols, many of these status symbols aren't really all that good. 😄
I'd add michters to the list. they are the best at making and producing low to high level amazing products
I wouldn't say the entry-level Four Roses Yellow label is "top tier" for its $24 price point, but agree with the rest.
They were top shelf till they got bought out. Now they are bottom shelf.

Four Roses Single Barrel was my introduction into the bourbon world. In a way, kind of set me up for failure because it was SO good that all the other bourbons I've tried since have been lacking lol!
4 roses sb is awesome! It is also a high rye mash bill bourbon so maybe make your next bourbon purchase also a high rye. Ex, 1792 small batch or old grandad bib, 114. Just a thought.

Awesome idea to delve into one single distillery's offerings. When I go to the store I often wonder what the difference is in a distillery's small batch, vs single barrel, vs select, etc. This would make a great series!

I was always a scotch guy. I had a client of mine talk me into trying a bottle of small batch and I was hooked. Got my hands on some allocated stuff , but its way too much of a hassle. Especially when you can find four roses everywhere. Great video gentleman 🥃Salud!
I am not sure anyone does better with their blending than Four Roses. It's an excellent product, IMO.

Several of my friends and I agree that the Single Barrel is better than the Small Batch Select.

I won’t argue with you there! I did enjoy my sbs pour but as mentioned in the video the sb gets replaced every several months.
My parents always had a bottle of four roses in a lock box in a closet in case any company liked a drink. My dad drank beer, but we were not a drinking family. I like four roses bourbon.

Love Four Roses, usually have all 4 on bar. Never had the Yellow until a few years ago in Boston had one of the best old fashion drinks ever and it was made with the $18 Yellow of Four Roses
Single Barrel Store Picks are what I'm looking for now. Four Roses and Knob Creek are at the top of my list.

Their single barrel is one of my favorites. Just bought a new bottle and caught my wife making her bourbon and coke with it! I was not happy. She said she had run out of her bourbon and will buy me a bottle.

4 Rose's Single Barrel was my first "expensive" bottle. I distinctly remember that first bottle because it was the first bourbon I tried with distinct flavor notes. I could isolate a sweet cinnamon nose and taste.
I had the Single Barrel while already drinking on a golf course and didn't remember what it was until I watched this (recognized the label)... I went out and bought some and must say that it is my favorite bourbon to date. Great review and thanks for bringing me back to it.
Four roses is one of my everyday pours I bought a bottle of the small batch select after seeing this and I must say it was fantastic in my opinion
I’m glad Four Roses is offering a quality product. I remember the brand in the 1980s as a bottom shelf “blended whisky” that was two-thirds vodka.
That is exactly what I thought. I have been avoiding that because of that. Looks like I will have to try them out, especially for the price point.

I picked up a 4 Roses single barrel (warehouse no. - HE)(Barrel no. 78-4Q) after the first pour from the neck I said I’ll never buy another , after it has rested a couple weeks it’s now one of my favorites. Great video!
With the high rye bourbon like 4 roses sb the neck pour can be quite bites! Excellent choice on your part to leave it sit and come back to it on another day!

Love 4 Roses
Their single barrel is my favorite burbon. Their regular four roses isn’t bad for the price. I know a lot of people taste different. I personally get a lot of cherry. Almost like a chocolate covered cherry
Also glad I’m not losing my mind lol. I also get a chocolate hint had the end of that single barrel

Great video. I have seen some of the distillery reviews that have come after this one. Really glad I found this one when looking at some of your older videos. The more I hear about Four Roses the more I think I need to check them out. I loved that you enjoyed all of the offerings. Yes they got better as you moved along, but even the base bottle was well liked. Wow, $20 for a good entry level from a well known distillery. The $65 bottle sounded really good and is priced much lower than bottles I've seen you review that you didn't like. Excellent, excellent watch. Thank you!

Just started drinking bourbon, never liked it when I was younger. Now my rates have changed tried the knob creek 120 proof and loved it. Bought the four roses single barrel and liked that one even more

I appreciate how you break down the palate on this channel. I click off of other channels when I start hearing stuff like "I'm getting a candied raspberry and toasted cherry watermelon with creme brule and graham crackers." I'm sorry, but that seems to be a bunch of nonsense if you asked me. It's whiskey, can't it just be whiskey? Lol

The entry level Four Roses is one of my favorites...It is better than a lot of more expensive bourbons.
Would you say that this is a better deal than the entry lvl Makers Mark that I can get for $20 at wal mart ?
I like Four Roses better..Where I live you can't buy Makers Mark for $20..We can't buy hard liquor in any stores other then state controlled liquor stores.@@protoman2260

Over the Christmas holiday, my adult son brought a bottle of Four Roses Single Barrel to our family get together. That was my first time tasting single barrel and it blew me away. It was absolutely incredible - the best bourbon I've tasted.. We drank it neat (and we usually only drink bourbon on the rocks or in a cocktail). I will be buying my own bottle of single barrel next time I go shopping.

Hey there! As a beginning bourbon drinker (much more of a tequila guy), I just wanted to thank you for this channel! I've learned so much watching you guys and enjoy the chemistry between you and Trenton. As a newbie, I really love the Four Roses Small Batch! I look forward to "graduating" to the other varieties someday.
For a show idea, have you guys considered doing a blind test with someone you trust (a friend or family member) who's new to bourbon? I think it would be interesting (and entertaining) to see how their taste pallettes differ from those of experienced bourbon drinkers such as yourself. 😁

I’ve purchased the single barrel a couple times. I was hesitant to buy the entry level Four Roses but now I am definitely going to try it! The single barrel is amazing stuff.
Kurt, this is a good, quick run through the core of Four Roses. I haven't tried the entry or top offerings, but you've encouraged me to go there.
I'd love to see more of these videos. Certainly, the Wild Turkey core also deserves a full review.

Good format because so many times when looking at a stores shelf and seeing a well known distiller's complete line-up it can be a bit daunting to select the bottle which suits your personal taste the best, I have and enjoy their Small Batch and Single Barrel but will be adding their basic as a "mixer" for summertime cocktails. And yes I appreciate you guys. I am 62 yrs old & only drank Jack Daniels most of my life then I tried Makers mark & enjoyed it. Then I did Jim Beam and graduated to Jim Beam single barrel. I’m old but I’m learning. My next purchase I want to try Russell 10 yr
Sipping Four Roses single barrel tonight. One of my favorites. My absolute favorite for the money is Old Forrester 1920.

The only one I haven't tried is the small batch select. They make some of the best bourbon available at any price. FRSB is my absolute favorite. Let's do this again with Old Forrester.

I love the idea of this video. This is fantastic. I was doing a similar thing with my own collection; KC SBS vs 15, ER vs BT, JD SBS vs HS, etc etc.
The previous 4 Roses Single Barrel I had couldn't compete with the Small Batch but it might have just been that bottle. Wasn't just the Mashbill because I will down some Rye.

IMO 4 Roses is severely overlooked. I can always count on them. I am always looking to try something different but the Small Batch is very underrated. I haven't tried the Select but I am interested in giving it a go.

Same here, Small batch is so underated.
4R SB has become my baseline all-rounder. Bulleit is my go-to mixer now, but, TBH, I would just as soon have 4R SB and Diet, and it is also super rocks or neat (Bulleit is kinda rough rocks)

Love the single bottle reviews as always, but these kind of videos are what many people need. Everyone gravitates towards the single barrels and the fancy bottle and sleeps on the bottom of the rosters. Great video!

I haven't loved the few Four Roses pours that I have had over the years, most were just the Small Batch. Will have to try them again.
4 roses is a specific flavor profile so don’t try to talk yourself into trying to like something you don’t like. Just a suggestion if you decide to try another bottle pick up the single barrel. Also, for me, it seems the longer the bottle is open the better it gets.
Picked up the original today. Pretty earthy flavor, and for ~$25 a solid pour. Something you can daily and enjoy without guilt, or introduce to a friend. Looking forward to trying the others in the near future.
Four Roses has always been one of my favorites, in any form. I always have the regular single barrel on hand. It's taken me several years, but I have finally collected all 10 single barrel recipes. Some were acquired during the pandemic when my local bars had to sell some inventory to make ends meet. My favorite recipe that started it all was OBSO. I like the high rye and fruity, light vanilla yeast strain. Thanks for the video ... Four Roses is often overlooked.
