This turned into a $400 introduction collection with zero overlap. Well done.
I was just thinking the same thing. 😂
Exactly. All together makes a perfect starter
Yup I’ve got all of them except New Riff. I’d substitute OF 1920 or Knob 12yr instead. And I don’t get all the fuss over Trace. Id rather have Elijah Craig
@@poforemani finally got a bottle of BT a couple months ago and I was underwhelmed. Its just kinda thin. I’m used to higher proof stuff so i guess thats it.
Pretty sure they each did a $200 collection…. 🤔 200+200=400 🤔
Have to go with Kurt on this one. Buffalo Trace and Wild Turkey 101 should be in every start up bourbon collection. Also, I’m a huge four roses fan so having that single barrel on there sealed the deal for me. Great lineups!
Four Roses is great bourbon
That Four Roses has been my go to lately!
Collections are a manifest of one’s taste preferences
Bourbons are fine & dandy.
Ryes are better …. Straight ryes ….
Yep both great collections but only one has Four Roses. Sorry Trenton.
@@othgmark1 LOL
and one has MM 🫣🤪
I love seeing this father and son dynamic. It’s made me go my dad into whiskey and now it’s something we can enjoy together and have another hobby to share.
My first at home bottles were OF1910 and Buffalo Trace. That was back in October. I'm now up to 35 bottles and wifey telling me I am already taking up to much space on the kitchen counter since our little bar is overfilled. Be careful fellow newbies ... this is ADDICTIVE! LOL
I’m right there with you……started about the same time and up to 35 bottles. I find myself going to 2-4 stores a week and can’t stop looking!
Yes it is😂
You are so right! Have a good friend that after the 4th or 5th time of being in my man cave looked up at me after a sip of Russell's Reserve single barrel and said "I finally get it!" That was back in August and he has over 30 bottles now. Has said the chase for different bourbons is nearly as much fun as the flavors. He's constantly sending me pictures over text asking me what I know about this bottle or that bottle. He's hooked! Had a guest ask me the other day how many bottles I had. I guessed around 30,,,, counted 45. And that was 4 days after my first infinity bottle when I poured 6 different into 1.
I have only tried Wild Turkey 101, Eagle Rare, and Blanton's. I just started this past weekend and up to 13 bottles. Wife already told me the same thing. 😆 🤣
Back before civilization, men hunted and gathered. I guess that gene has not gone away in some of us. 🤣🤣
Both fantastic lists! The only thing missing from both was 1792 Small Batch. Excellent option for $28-30 IMHO. Love all your vids gents.
You are correct sir. I also considered Eagle Rare when you can fine it priced reasonably.
@@christopherkelle6131correct
I think Kurt's collection is more fundamental/traditional. I also agree that Four Roses Single Barrel is a staple & must be on hand at all times. Delicious!
By far the best channel I’ve found in 2022.
Two solid selections 👍🏻 My $200 intro bourbon collection would be Knob Creek 9yr, Early Times Bottle-in-Bond, Woodford Reserve Double Oaked, Maker’s Mark 46, Wild Turkey 101, and Old Grand-Dad 114……total cost $196 😁
Really liking your list, we live about 3 miles from the Old Grand Dad and Buffalo Trace distilleries, and my wife grew up less than 10 miles from the Makers Mark distillery. To make it more nationwide maybe add a Jack Daniels and Still Austin whiskey. Another option is for dropping to 3 bourbons/whiskeys, and adding some beer and mixed drink ingredients. My wife had butterfingers for New Years Eve, a sugar bomb for an everyday drinker, but fine for special occasions with Bailey's Irish Cream, Kahlua and butterscotch schnapps for a low price compared to most bourbon prices. That one time use only oak barrel and 4 plus aging years jumps the price, maybe go to Gatlinburg and try the Ole Smoky brand moonshine and whiskeys with less expensive rules, their tastings include a coupon for money off at their store.
@@jeffruebens8355 Awesome! I’ll have to give those a try 👍🏻Thanks!
Very nice video….can’t go wrong with these. My 200 buck lineup:
OF 100: 25
Buf Trace: 25
ET BiB: 25
WT 101: 20
EW 1783: 20
MM CS: 40
4R SiB: 45
200 even!
I think you can see whose list mine mostly matches!
My wine shoppe marks Bourbon up like CRAZY-- 200 for Blantons....and they didn't have B Trace. I went to a gas station(in Michigan they sell liquor) and they had Trace for 30 bucks,,,,,and it's the best I've tasted so far-- just starting. Thanks guys!!! My go to channel.
Hey Guys! I just started my bourbon collection because of your channel, thanks for helping me go broke! LOL, JK Thanks for the great videos! I have acquired around 20 bottles so far over the last 2 months. I live in the Chicagoland area and visit Merrillville and Valpo often keep up the great work!
My wife and I are actually looking at a small corner bar/cabinet for all the bottles i've obtained this year lmao!!
@Ronnie Willet I have an unfinished basement, so for now, I have wire shelves in the basement from Amazon and put aluminum panels over the shelves for extra support.
Just a quick Thank you, I'm still new to Bourbon but I love it, you guys give Great insights into this journey. Kurts side
I love Wild Turkey 101 and Four Roses Single Barrel - I'm not sure what the rest of the picks on my list would be, but these two are granted first and second place. They're amazing tasting bourbons, very available and great value. To be honest, I could probably build my whole list with just stuff from these two distilleries.
Solid list that covers a large gamut of bourbon flavors. Great job. Content like this is why you have 93k subscribers. My list would be: Russells 10 year, Old Grand Dad BiB, JTS Brown BiB, Larceny 92, and for a splurge I would go with Knob Creek 12.
ha i had 3 of those as well without looking! Similar tastes
Old Forester 100 proof is my favorite Manhattan mixer. Old Forester 1910 is my favorite casual sipper.
As a first time commenter, but viewer of many videos over the past few months, I have to say I find both lists to be excellent and given the 12 options, would honestly choose 3 from each of you. OF 1910, Buffalo Trace, WT 101, Knob Creek 9, OG 114. and Early Times BIB would be the 6 I would choose from this lineup, although I may be too deep in to this current bottle of 101 to do the math and might be over the $200 limit with those choices. Either way these are both solid lineups. Cheers gents.
Kurt's line up for sure, but absolutely would have to have the early times bottle and bond, that's my new favorite budget bourbon!
I tried the WT 101 last night and thought it similar to Evan Williams black. Maybe I should try again
Gotta go with Trenton's lineup. Knob Creek, OF 100, and GD 114 is always on my shelf.
Love Kurt's picks, but the Maker's Cask is not my favorite. People sleep on the Evan Williams BiB so I'm glad to see that up there.
Keep up the good work gentlemen.
Plus ET BiB. Can’t go wrong.
Both lists are outstanding for beginners and a $200 budget. Only thing we would have added is Russell's Reserve 10 yr. Great job guys. We really enjoyed the video. 😉
I agree on the Russell's
Yes, love my R.R.10 yr👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
I like both of you lineups for sure, some great picks on both sides. But if I had to fall off the log, I’m going with Kurt’s. If I could swing one bottle from Trenton’s side over to Kurt’s though it would be that New Riff.
Hey vanguard! 👋 have you had any of the castle and key distillers? I'm not sure what you are into but they just released their burbon, and I happen to get their #1 batch from my local specs. Good stuff. 👍🏼
Yeah gotta go with Kurt on this one, at least for a beginner collection. Trenton's might actually be a little higher quality depending on personal preference but Kurt has a realy solid representation of most major distillieries so you can get a good feel for what you like. When I got into bourbon that really helped me figure out what I was into, then once I got a solid collection I branched out more into the craft distilleries like New Riff. Cheers fellas!
Have to go with Trenton on this one. Larceny, Knob Creek 9 and Old Grandad 114 are all Yummy. Never had the New Riff so will have to find a bottle. Not a fan of Early Times, but don't know if Ive ever tried the BiB version. Kurt's is a good list as well, but I don't care for Makers or WT much. Haven't had Evan Williams since college days and only drank it then because it was cheap. Although BT, Four Roses and the 1910 are all awesome choices.
I too stopped drinking Evan after college but a few years ago, tried it again. I was pleasantly surprised how good it is for the money and consider it a solid choice for a common sipper.
Great lineups. While New Riff is my favorite pick, I have to go with Kurt’s collection as more quintessential flavors and looks great on the shelf.
Thanks for this show! Y'all are great. I've been drinking bourbon for the past 15+ years, but mostly from the same distillery (Woodinville Whiskey in WA). Since I started watching your show I have expanded my "collection"... thanks to you guys. So the 'better collection' for this show is Trenton... his list has the most number of bottles that I'd l'd like to get, that I haven't tried yet.
I live about a mile from WWC. When family comes to town, it's one of the first places they want to stop.
You could do a lot worse than drink Woodinville exclusively. Incredible whiskey - especially for the money!! The port finish is 🔥
This was a great video and I honestly think you both hit a home run with your picks. If I were forced to pick one or the other I give an ever so slight nod to Kurt on this one. Cheers 🥃
I have not tried and/or cannot find BT, ET Bib, New Riff or OG 114 so I’d give the nod to Kurt mainly because there are three on Trenton’s list I have not tried. My list would be EW 1783 SB, Old Grand Dad BiB, WT 101, Makers Cask Strength, Woodford DO and Old Forrester 1910. Love this channel. Thanks!
Kurt - So glad you put BT in the lineup. I know people dig on it, but that's the bourbon that got me into Bourbon. Always a regular in my collection. Cheers!
And the winner is…me! I took a snapshot and will get all 12. Thank you guys. Fairly new to Bourbon and enjoy the exploration and sampling and don’t have the $$$ for the rare or simply overpriced stuff. This is about drinking, not collecting.
both great lists. I lean more towards Trenton's because Larceny, KC9, and Early Times are a regular part of my rotation. That said I love OF 1910 and MM Cask strength. I also keep a Prudent Pappy blend handy - Makers Mark Cask Strength + Larceny 2:1 ratio.
Started mine a few weeks ago partly due to watching your channel. I spent a little over $300 on 5 bottles but I got a couple bottles that were a little more expensive. Redbreast 12, OF 1910, Rare Breed, Woodford Reserve double oak, and Blue Run high rye
Solid choices
Woodford reserve double oak is it really worth it? I’m still on the fence for it as a smooth sipper
Old forester 1910 is outstanding.
@@simply.5570 Yes. Always a yes with the Woodford Double Oaked and the Wild Turkey Rare Breed. Always. Four Rose's Small Batch, Small Batch Select and Single Barrel are all well worth the price as well. Old Forrester 1910 and 1920 are both hitters.
Red breast is a bourbon?
half of each: Larceny, KnobCreak, BT, MMcast, ET, OF1910. Never tried newRiff
Buffalo trace ($25), JWDant ($24 liter), JTS ($17), Early times, Heaven Hill bib ($50), Woodford reserve double oak ($55). My picks cheers!!
Great run down! I was a little curious as to why Kurt did not include Elijah Craig Small Batch as that was the bottle that got him into bourbon in the first place. The same was true for me.
Price point is probably what kept Elijah Craig off the list.
Love a lot of Trenton's pick in this video! New Riff Single Barrel is special!
You guys are a kick! Both lists are awesome but I have to go with Trenton on this one. I have them all and the New Riff is fantastic! Thank you for the great video. Very entertaining and this makes our bourbon journey so much fun!
Alright...new bourbon collector here...I'm a 62 yr old vet...US Navy vet...I've tried Woodford Reserve and 1792...I'm looking at that list...and I like them all...I watch your videos the most...cause I think, the father/son team works...that being said...I'm leaning towards trying four roses, Buffalo Trace side...
Love your videos. I am fairly new to bourbon. I have been a makers drinker for years but recently started discovering all the wonderful choices out there. Good choices by both but I would lean towards Kurt’s selection. My 6 would be wild Turkey 101, knob creek 9, larceny, four roses SIB, Russell’s 10, and Elijah Craig small batch.
I’ve been watching your videos with my dad over the holiday break! When I got home wanted to start a little bourbon bar collection. Its funny because I basically got Trentons line up minus old grand dad and new riff.
For pricing in my area of Texas total wine:
Larceny 22
Wild turkey 101 20
Knob creek 26
Old forester 86 proof 18
Early times(1liter) 20
Couldn’t find buffalo trace :/
So far my favorite is larceny
Great video guys. I enjoyed both lists. I have to say I own most of the bottles on Kurt’s list already. Wish Russell’s Reserve 10 year would have made the cut. It’s a great bottle!!!
I would take Russels reserve over makers or turkey 101
I Live everything from the Buffalo Trace distillery, Personally. Regular Trace is my daily sipper, Ancient Age is my mixer and Eagle Rare is my nice one. I’m young and broke so I haven’t bought a spirit over $50 yet, but I did manage to get my hands on a Whiskey Barrel liquor cabinet made out of an actual barrel that was used in the Buffalo Trace Distillery
That’s awesome! Do you! That’s what’s most important.
Two great lists! A tough choice, but I have to go with Trenton's picks mainly because I've had all those except New Riff, plus Early Times has slightly edged-out WT101 as my current fave. I also love OGD114, KC and OF100. I haven't tried EW BIB or OF1910 yet. After reading comments and seeing so many good ones about New Riff, I'll be trying that one soon. Love your videos and your interaction with one another. Thanks and Happy New Year, gentlemen!
I’ve been to new riffs distillery a few times and all of their bourbons are great. I was blown away by the single barrel rye and malted single barrel my friend and I purchased
Im with Jory, you can now get a nice collection for $400... well done indeed.... I was going to put down some bottles, but you have done very well. If I had to pick, would go with Trenton. The only reason is Kurts bottles - all 6 of them, you can go into any bar and see them. Trentons, has a little more diversity.
Great lineups. I prefer Kurt's because that looks like bourbon collection!
Fun topic for a list! I think my list matches up with your lists pretty closely. Only thing is, you have to find a way to get Rare Breed on there! (Local Illinois pricing) $196 total
OF 100 $24
BT $28
RE Emerald Giant $30
EW 1783 $20
WT Rare Breed $45
WT 101 $21
ET Bib $28
WT101, KC9, OF100, EWBiB, Woodford Double Oak, WT Rare breed. Out of your lists I would say Kurt is the winner. Although buffalo trace is tough to get, early times is also equally tough.
I have to go with Trenton on this one, here in upstate NY Buffalo Trace is pocket change south of $50 and Evan Williams white label is something I keep on hand for company not for myself. I do however like the backend on Kurts with the MMCS with I mix with MM46, Four Roses SB "absolutely delicious" and the double oak Old Forester 1910 priced well under the Woodford Reserve DO. Trenton is spot on with the OG 114, how do you beat a cask strength for $28.99? and the Old Forester "signature" 100 proof over the way over price Old Forester Whiskey Row Series: 1897 Bottled in Bond. Watching this video actually cost me $50.75 because I just got back from the liquor store with a bottle of New Riff Single Barrel barrel proof. The only bottle sitting on the bar (as of now) that I dont or have never had is the Early Times.
great picks on both sides, you guys knocked it out of the park once again! 🥃Cheers!
I'll go with Trenton on this one. The OGD 114 and the Knob Creek are my go to choices. I haven't seen the 114 in my area in over 6 months. I do like the 1910.
My 5....makers mark, larceny, Jim beam black, know creek, Woodford reserve, copper craft, 1910 and Buffalo Trace. Not sure on costs but I like those. Makers mark is my go to right now
I can't argue with any of these selections. Kurt, I applaud you for including OF 1910 as your splurge pick. So sweet and easy-drinking. I have never been able to find Buffalo Trace in my area. I recently found one in the wild, but the store required two other purchases, bringing the total for a 750 ml bottle (plus unwanted additions) to $90. I passed. I've also noticed Wild Turkey Rare Breed getting more difficult to find lately in my area. I'm hoping this is a temporary situation.
Curt's priced out at $220 on the VA ABC website. I couldn't do Trenton's because we don't get New Riff, but it looks to be about $55, so assuming that would be our price, Curt's would have been $207 in VA. We get ripped off somewhat here without any competition. Love your show!
Couldn't agree more with both of your picks. Great $400 starter bar. Here in Michigan just like Rare Breed our prices have all went up @ $5 a 750 for everything.
This List is FANTASTIC... I have had all if these.
My list:
Old Forester 100
Old Forester 1910 - Sipping Now
Early Times - Daily Drinker Neat
Four Roses - Love this Distillery
Old Grandad 114 - Great Mixer
Wild Turkey 101 - Nuff Said
New Riff - Live in Cincy... GREAT NEW DISTILLERY...
Great List of top 12 affordable Bourbons...
Thank you Kurt and Trenton for awesome show I have everything that you showed tonight except the Even Williams and the New Riff on my bar I’ve been wanting to try that new riff but the winner for me tonight was Trenton thank you guys
I like these kind of lists and these are all good picks . I think there should be a set of rules.
No allocated bourbon ( buffalo trace products)
A daily drinker
A mixer
A wheater
A rye
A cast strength
My
My taste profile is usually closer to Kurt's and I fully agree with Wild Turkey 101 and Evan Willlams BIB on his list, but I would have picked Old Forester 1897 instead of the 1910. However, Trenton's list hit it out of the park! Larceny is my favorite wheated Bourbon and Knob Creek is always one of my favorites. I've never had the New Riff on Trenton's list, but I love everything else he selected. Trenton's list is the winner for me.
New bourbon drinker here. Bought a Four Roses Small Batch tonight. Heard it’s good in an Old Fashioned.
Hey guys great lists! Have to give a slight edge to Kurt's. Didn't appreciate how hard it would be to stay in that $200 range, my list..
Evan Williams bottle and bond - $15
Knob creek 9 - $21
Buffalo Trace - $25
4 roses single barrel - $41
Russels reserve single barrel - $68
Russels 10yr - $30
Although I'd get rid of the 4 roses and Knob and just do 5 to get old Forester 1910 in there
Great pick guys, love all the picks. Disappointed in my area I can't find early times, I finally found a bottle in jersey over new years, but it was new production in a PLASTIC bottle. I refused to purchase in a plastic bottle, so my search continues. Both of you had such great picks I'd say it's a tie
I hope that plastic bottle is not a new trend
Kurt has my vote, only because I have access to more of his options and he wasn't afraid to pull big bourbon makers mark out...most people don't like the big guy on the block, but good is good
Trentons picks line up almost exactly with the first bourbons I ever bought (I subst old forester 1920 and OGD BiB) so I have to give him the nod. I do agree with the comments about 4 roses though. Love it myself. Buffalo trace is tough to find around here and I've never seen Early Times on the shelf.
I'm with Kurt. Love the WT101, Four Roses Single Barrel and Maker's Mark Cask Strength. I also think OGD 114 will be way too harsh for beginners.
I'm Joe the new guy here and I'm slowly figuring out what suits my taste profile while at the same time trying to build up tolerance to heat. That said, for me, its a split decision. I do lean more towards sweet and less heat (at the moment) and anything too oaky doesn't work for me right yet. I also seem to like the ryes too which kinda lends more towards Trenton. Gun held to my head, I'm going with Trenton but truth be told, I own more of what Kurt put on the bar. Good teaching points in the video though, all of which will help me lose my rookie status! Thanks for sharing guys and very entertaining, as always! Be safe and be well!
First of all, I am a drinker, not a collector. Ten of those bottles have passed thru my bar except the Maker’s Mark and the New Riff. I was able to snag an Early Times just last month. And I would buy each of those 10 again. OF100 would be my current daily drinker but has disappeared from the area. The only change I would make, if it was widely available, would be the Evan Williams Single Barrel in place of the BiB. A good reminder to pick up an OG 114, when I have space available. Great video again!
Kurt wins…ONLY because he nailed it with the 1910!! My favorite bourbon ever! Thanks guys love the videos! Keep em coming!! Cheers from Ohio!
My recommendations would be:
1) Evan Williams BIB - $16
2) Buffalo Trace - $25
3) Larceny - $25
4) OGD 114 - $31
5) WT Rare Breed - $45
6) Maker’s Mark 46 CS - $58
You get two wheaters (daily and cask strength). Two low rye bourbons (daily and cask strength). A high rye bourbon (OGD) and a malt bourbon (EW BIB). Plus, distillery variation between Heaven Hill, Wild Turkey, Maker’s Mark, Buffalo Trace and Jim Beam.
I'm late to this party, but I think this is a valuable topic that deserves revisiting occasionally. I'm not a complete novice, but I've never really explored. While I know where my tastes lean, I want to both expand my horizon and also identify specific bottles with flavors I want to keep around.
This sort of list is important for someone relatively new because the variety provides context for understanding the comments and opinions people share about other products. Wild Turkey, Maker's Mark, Four Roses, Old Forester, Knob Creek, and Buffalo Trace are staples that are broadly referenced for comparison. Keeping it to a budget makes it approachable.
To expand on this topic, it might be interesting to create lists you think exemplify particular notes, rather than a particular class or distillery. Maybe even across the varietal spectrum. "Here are some bottles that are great examples of [whatever...cherry, leather, oak, toffee, smoke]", "Here is an example of a good oak and for contrast, here is a bad oak profile". "Here are examples of what we think of as a caramel note in a scotch, a bourbon, and a rye". Explaining what makes a particular example notable or memorable (good or bad).
Your videos are fun, approachable, and informative. Thanks for sharing this content!
I'm very happy with both of your picks. You can tell I watch the channel from the result of this though, because I'm fairly new to this ( about 50 bottle collection ) and I have 9 of the 12 bottles you picked in my collection. You really do make good recommendations and I love every single bottle that I have bought as a result of your reviews and input. I have bought many, many bottles blindly and have gotten quite lucky so far, but every bottle I've bought as a result of your reviews/discussion has been a home run for me. I think both lineups are a solid choice to be trusted. I genuinely can't choose a side because both of you had three bottles that are bottles I will NEVER go without ( four roses single barrel, buffalo trace, turkey 101, knob 9, forester 100, New Riff ), but the others that I have tried in this lineup are also fantastic. I wanted to choose a side but man, I don't think you can go wrong either way.
I'm from IN too so the prices are pretty spot on for me. I will say to other IN people though, go to your local Meijer. You'd be amazed at what you can find and even more amazed at the prices you can come by. I got my New Riff Single barrel for about 42$ there, find Trace there all the time, and killer deals on other bottles too. I get Rare Breed at my Meijer for about 48$ because it seems like it's always on sale when it comes in. Their sales vary but man, they have killer deals in there sometimes. Unfortunately most of my local liquor stores are extremely greedy and way, way overcharge on almost everything. So I venture out to places like Meijer or Total Wine who have more competitive pricing.
I am like 3 months into my collection and have all of those except the Early Times BiB. I would lean towards Trenton picks just so I have to fine the Early Times. Cheers 🥃
Gotta go with Trenton on this one, I've only had 2 off of each of your lists (Wild Turkey and Buffalo Trace/Larceny and Early Times) Larceny and Early Times are the only 2 I've re-purchased, those will both be staples in my collection.
I have screen shot of this to sneak them in once my new place is ready. Not sure I can stay married or sober with a real collection.
You both chose a few I love! Trenton hit one of my faves In Larceny.
I am sipping one Evan Williams BB tonight catching up on your vids.
I have to side with Kurt. I haven't had any Bourbons on Trenton's list. I do prefer Kurt's first three, but for my second three it would be Wyoming Whiskey, Michter's small batch and Evan Williams 1783. Thanks for another great video. 👍
I can't argue with any of those selections. Nice list. If you are in Kentucky, I would replace the Evan Williams BiB with JW Dant BiB. And I might replace the Knob Creek with 1792.
Thanks for the recommendation. Just started. And I paid $19.49 on Wild turkey 101 in California 👍🏼
I love New Riff - the single barrel is about $45 and I drink it neat. The BIB is $35 and I like it in Manhattans. Both are high rye mash bills. Good choices, except for Makers. It made my bottom of 5 different wheaters, by far. I really like the Old Elk but it is pricey. For $30 Bernheim is a great wheater.
I love living in Augusta, Ga. Where Eagle Rare and Buffalo Trace is literally in cases at about every liquor store. ER $39 & BT $25
I'd say save a little more and go for everything on the counter. Between you two ..... both came up with a top notch selection!!
I have to go with Kurt. We rarely see Old Grand Dad 114, New Riff or Early Times up here in Washington state and so I'm still looking to try them. In addition, I love all the options Kurt picked and currently have them in my collection. Strangely, there is a lot of Buffalo Trace available in my area with no purchase limit. Maybe the NW is buying all the Buffalo Trace? My 6 picks would be: Larceny, Evan Williams, Old Forester, Buffalo Trace, Wild Turkey Rare Breed, Four Roses Single Barrel. We can't afford a splurge pick because we have the highest liquor tax in the nation. 😞
Kurt’s list is more up my alley. But I’m also a WT fan and truly enjoy 4roses single barrel. The only one I’ve yet to have is OF1920. Need to change that soon.
great selections on both parts, good spread of various distilleries. I can't decide who's is better! I have all but the last 3 in my collection. control state is not easy to find a lot of options.
Love what you guys are doing, so much that I’ll watch the whole advertisement in hopes it helps the channel!
You both had stellar lists! I think Trenton's list squeaked by to win with his adition of Early Times BIB.
I wish OGD 114 was as readily available in Tennessee as it apparantly is in Indiana. It's been months since I've seen a bottle around here.
Don’t know where you are in TN but I can get 114 OFD often in Nashville area
If you're close to the NC side, I've seen it around just over the mountain.
@@carmenlarue2991 Thanks for the heads up. I live 50 miles south of Nashville and seldom venture up to the big city. Next time I do end up in Nashville I will absolutely checkout a few stores.
It was a toss up for me. Each of you had three of my bottles. 😆
Evan Williams BIB
Early Times BIB
WT 101
Larceny
OGD 114
Eagle Rare
Old Forester 1910
The only reason I picked Eagle Rare is because it’s a nice one for newbies and well, you gotta try at least one Buff Trace product. As much as I wanted to put Rare Breed in that slot, I only wanted one WT in the lineup.
I was back and forth between Henry Mc 10 and OF 1910 but I think the 1910 has a bigger following when it comes to just getting into bourbon.
Starter bourbon has to start with makers mark ,Woodford reserve, early times bib , old forested 86, 100 and 1920 , makers cast strength ,fill in with some of the other good choices you two had to round out the $200 if I didn't go over . great show !
I just started this weekend before finding this video. I spent about $90. I bought Wild Turkey 101, Bulleit, and Buffalo Trace. I haven't had a chance to sample them yet but im off tomorrow. Looking forward to it. Love the content. Just subbed!
Minus the New Riff, I already own these bottles. Good list gents! And now I have to add New Riff to my collection.
Four Roses made the list!!! Awesome!!! I love the finish from the yellow label and single batch!!!
I think Russell's Reserve small batch should be in there. Ten years old, good flavor but an easy drinking 90 proof and only $35 or so. Surprised Rare Breed isn't up there. That's a must-have for any bourbon collection. Knob Creek Single Barrel is also a must-have in my opinion. Great bang for the buck on a near barrel proof bourbon (minimum 9 years old and 120 proof). All three of these are well priced and easy to find, high quality classic bourbons.
Great idea for a post and I love watching your content. I think a little combo of both would be nice. I think Larceny, Knob Creek, Wild Turkey 101, Old Grand-Dad 114, Four Roses Single Barrel, Old Forester 1910. A couple that could have fit in there are 1792 and maybe Elijah Craig Small Batch. Here in California, Early Times is never available, New Riff on and off and Makers Cask also infrequent. Buffalo Trace is abundant though. Again thank you for your channel. 👍🥃
I own 5 bottles on Kurt's list and only 4 on Trenton's, and I enjoy the 5 bottles on Kurt's list more than the 4 on Trenton's list so I have to vote for Kurt on this one. Great video as always fellas!
Great lineup across the bar. However, Kurt I have to give the edge, and just a slight one at that, to Trentons lineup. With that Knob 9, OF, Old Grandad and New Riff just put it over the top. I enjoy watching and learning from ya'll and enjoy the great shows. Keep up the good work!

All New riffs are north of 65 in these parts. However, they are freakin awesome. On the other hand, Pops four roses is accurate to the price and taste and i too will refill, so i have to side with pops.
If you guys are comparing early times to Buffalo then i will have to find me a bottle because BT is an amazing taste.
Going with Kurt on this one. I own all of those bottles, and can attest to their quality. Trenton's list is great as well though... my guess is that some people did not vote for this list due to the "newness" of New Riff... Excellent bourbon though! Great job guys!!
I’d take a mix of both. I don’t like EW BiB no matter how it’s mixed, life’s too short to drink whiskey you don’t like. Also not a fan of Knob Creek 9, but yes it’s cheap and easy. I like Larceny and have found it as low as 15$ and even my wife likes it. Got to include BT and WT101 as. Well as a 4 Roses to provide variety of tastes. The 4 roses SB is terrific. New Riff is a great bargain and good as a supper or mixer. Any OF whiskey row has to be in a collection too, especially 1910 or 1920
Great list, fellas! I think I'd have to throw Woodford Double Oaked on there maybe in place of New Riff for the same price point but 90% of these are mainstays in my cabinet. Cheers!
I'm sure those are all fantastic choices....unfortunately in my part of Canada, I have access to about 4 of those bottles....I knew WT 101 was gonna be on the list, and that's absolutely one of my favourite sippers!
Love the channel!
Cheers from the Prairies of Canada!
Coming into this a little late so my budget was a bit higher ($274+tax) - but I got 7 bottles as well. After watching a bunch of videos on BourbonTube I went out looking. My local little liquor store just put out a case of E.H. Taylor Barrel Proof at $72 so I had to grab that.
Others purchased are:
Four Roses Small Batch $38
Knob Creek 9 $32
Penelope Wheated $38 (again, my local store that sells at or even a bit below MSRP)
1792 BIB (Store pick) $42
ET BIB $27
WT 101 $25
I was thinking about this on my way home on how to flesh out and start from the bottom up. Perfect timing!!
I live in Pennsylvania where liquor selection is still controlled by the state. Many options you show are not available. I need to travel out of state to find. I enjoy your videos. Keep it up.
Thanks
Dan
I have to go with Kurt on this one also. He chose several of my go to easy to find and keep on my shelf daily drinkers.
New subscriber here, and new to bourbon. I've been binge watching all your videos. Tried watching other channels, but keep coming back to you guys. I feel like I'm there with you, at an uncles house! Cheers!
Kurt is my winner! Buffalo Trace, Wild Turkey 101 and Four Roses Single Barrel are my absolute favorites, along with Larceny...so in my count Kurt has 4 that I am familiar with and Trenton has 2. All are good and I will try to fill out my collection with the missing bottle FROM BOTH SIDES!!
