    Consider moving the kill switch back to the handlebars or adding a second one to the handlebars. If the bike goes down on the L. side it will be difficult to kill it. I have gone down on the left on dirt bikes with my leg next to the rear wheel and had to kill the bike in a hurry. I enjoy your videos. Your giving me some good ideas. Keep up the good work.

    • @ClassicOctane

      That's a good point. I will look into options for moving it up to the bars somewhere hidden, but still accessible if needed in a hurry. Thanks for the feedback.

    Can you make a wiring tutorial video for classic bikes such as Triumph and Norton, maybe with the functions of the parts in it and also a step by step way on how to do the wiring.... Thank You love you and your videos man ❤️🔥

    Great video man. I was hoping you can help with my 1975 100cc Kawasaki. I've stripped all the wiring out of the bike minus what's coming out of the magneto/stator. I'm told this bike will run without a battery. How do I wire this to get spark? I've got a key switch and coil. Everything seems to be testing well so how do I get spark? 2 stroke engine. The previous coil had ONE wire connecting to the stator. The new coil has 2 wires, black, green. Thanks!

    I have an 83 gonna nighthawk cb550. Got it from Craigslist, been sitting. guy hooked it up to truck and ran it through gears. Got it home, tried to jump start, almost turned over, then random power/starting problems. Might have shorter something. Thinking about rewiring whole thing, it's almost 40 years old. Also clutch/line pressure not there. Limited knowledge on bikes and how everything balances out and works together.

    I have a 78 CM185T and want to use LEDs for all my lights. The bike runs on a 6v system and was wondering if you know a way to run 12v LEDs? I'm having a heck of a time finding anything 6v for lighting. Thanks and great build.

    • @ClassicOctane

      I haven't messed with 6 volt systems really but I would guess you might need to buy some universal 6V LEDs and make your own lights.

    What 2 wires and Honda factory colors go to the flasher on the B and L tangs? I bought an 82 Honda Nighthawk that someone cut the wiring harness all up and I've got it mostly back together but can't get my signals to work. Hey man thanks for the video. I've had to replace the ignition coils on my honda cb400 1980. The 2 wires on the old coils were green and yellow. But the wires on the new coils are black and blue I just wanted to know which colours will go in to which as they are now different colours. (ex.would it be, black to green and blue to yellow or vice versa) Thanks in advance sorry for such a "noob" question.

    I have A question about wondering how your rectifier that charges your battery have the ground in this situation? can everything just lay loose inside the box? I just ask if its that easy that all the electric components can lay inside there??Thanks for answering me last time btw I appreciate a lot!

    • @ClassicOctane
      @ClassicOctane  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Most of the components are grounded through the wiring not through the mounting bolts. A few of them even have rubber isolators so that they don't ground on the frame. I haven't had any issues with the way mine is setup.

    I am working on a CB350. Why have a kill switch at all? Is there an advantage to a switch over bypassing it and using the key switch as a kill? I relocated my key switch so I can reach and kill if needed. Thx for your thoughts.

    • @ClassicOctane
      @ClassicOctane  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      I wired mine in for no other reason then i'm used to having one. You could easily just use the key by wiring the black and white wire from the coils to any of the solid black(key on power) wires.

      There is a little "cam" on the left side behind the shifter cover. It contacts a little copper piece only when the bike is in neutral. That and the bulb in the indicator itself would be the first thing to check.

      circuitswiring.com/1979-honda-cb650-electrical-wiring-diagram/ Looking at that diagram it looks like black and Yellow/red are the two that should be wired to each side of the button. Black is a common power so you're basically just powering that side of the solenoid when the button is pushed.

      You have the key control the power to the push start button(only getting power when the key is in the run position), that way the starter solenoid only gets power when the key is in "run" and the button is pressed.

      @@ClassicOctane do you happen to know how to convert 6v to 12v? There are a few vague videos that all vary in their method but no one addresses 12v controls or generators, rectifiers or regulators.

      Try and turn the motor over manually with a wrench or by pushing the bike a little while it's in gear. The starter might be jammed or maligned a little bit and turning the motor over might free it up.

    My 78 Yamaha xs already has LED turn signals so will it still need diodes for the universal speedometer? I’m confused on the diode thing
