To be fair, in the heat test, the Sony is doing more work. The Canon is writing more data, but that doesn't generate a lot of heat. A while back I asked you what would be the best camera for music videos with $1500 budget. You responded but I can’t find your comment . Would you recommend anything?
During the overheating test, the Canon is probably actually doing less work than the Sony because the Sony is applying compression & downsampling from 6k which is significantly more taxing to a processor than just straight up recording at high bit rates. You can verify this by encoding your own video with a constant rate factor that is highly compressed vs one that isn't.
I got a second hand a7rii for a tiny bit more, stabilization, 42 mpg (same sensor as a7riii), full frame, bigger body less overheating, better in low light and dynamic range. Something to consider ! (you will love the fuji xt3, if I had less Sony gears, I would switch to that in a second)
*The Sony a7 II is around $980 right now with a 27-70mm kit lens, and $845 without it* and its has in body stabilization and its a full frame mirror less camera.
Ritesh Tandon I have both m50/viltrox and a6400. I will sell the Sony immediately when Canon will give us the 120fps fullHD that we all need. Maybe by the end of the summer with the m5ii or some new eos R. Economics and menus are not good on the Sony like bad bad and no touch screen (what!?!?) and yes, the colors are green while better on Canon without color grading. So yes, potato jet is right there is a hole in Canon’s lineup for $1,000 between the m50 and the eos R that the a6400 (or the x-t3) is filling perfectly but no doubt that Canon will release this missing body very soon as expected (m5ii or 90D ... what !? NO, DSLR are out, unlesss the 90D becomes a mirrorless ... well then it’s a m5ii lol). Can’t wait August 28th!!!
@@fritzkier youtube loves sigma lenses I saw really good reviews thanks for pointing me towards that. @@freddumartin7878 you are right about the fact sony on paper does sound a lot better but you got to agree since you have m50/viltrox that it must be sweet picking up nifty fifty lense at throw away prices and using it on a 500$ camera and get images and video nearly equivalent of a full frame camera. Sony also have speedbooster in the market but all the review said they mess up the sweet sweet focus which is a shame also second hand market of lenses is rulled by canon with that combination I feel I would never get bored of canon m50.
Seems like every time a new camera comes out, every big TH-camr out there with a huge following starts, not only reviewing it, but recommending them. Makes you wonder ... It was Canon SL2, then Canon M50, and now Sony A6400
Here's the thing about heat on the Sonys, using the NP50 batts is a big no no since there are many decouplers that allow for USB power and shooting all day. The other consideration is these small bodies are made nor marketed for long form recording. FSx cams are set up for that. Heat is a non issue after the A6500 if decoupling and using the gear for its intended purpose
You should try the Fuji XT-30, a competitve camera for the $1000 price range. The Sony A6400 does look great and have been surprised for it's performance.

If you use the wireless hotshoe mic, you can monitor audio because it addes a head phone jack on both the wireless mic, and the hot shoe reciever
I have the a6000 and I still believe it’s the best of all !!😁
I'm still using a5100's. Touch focus and flip up screen is great. Good for gimbal stuff.
I agree the only thing I wish it had was the Mic output
A while back I asked you what would be the best camera for music videos with $1500 budget. You responded but I can’t find your comment . Would you recommend anything?
During the overheating test, the Canon is probably actually doing less work than the Sony because the Sony is applying compression & downsampling from 6k which is significantly more taxing to a processor than just straight up recording at high bit rates. You can verify this by encoding your own video with a constant rate factor that is highly compressed vs one that isn't.
Can u plz do a review for fuji Xs 10? I do not like the sony rolling shutter!! Fantastic videos, i love ur work
I got a second hand a7rii for a tiny bit more, stabilization, 42 mpg (same sensor as a7riii), full frame, bigger body less overheating, better in low light and dynamic range. Something to consider ! (you will love the fuji xt3, if I had less Sony gears, I would switch to that in a second)
*The Sony a7 II is around $980 right now with a 27-70mm kit lens, and $845 without it* and its has in body stabilization and its a full frame mirror less camera.
Mine is In the mail now, can’t wait until it comes.
Thank you so much for making this video!! I love my a6400 & Sigma 16mm 1.4
If this Sony is for bloggers then Fujifilm X-T30 is definitely for filmmakers. And that 18-55mm f2.8-f4 kit lens is amazing.
Hats off to the only guy that correctly pronounces Zhiyun! Not that you ever read these comments...😎😂😂🖤
Canon m50 with speed booster and sony a6400 review would be greatly appreciated ...might shock you
@Jh San canon lense collections that opens up with viltrox sony can not compete
@@riteshtandon8701 try Trio Sigma for Sony APS C camera, they're pretty good with affordable price too
@@fritzkier youtube loves sigma lenses I saw really good reviews thanks for pointing me towards that. It just with viltrox the fact m50 4k video doesn't have that bad of a crop factor and the fact canon full frame lenses used market is so affordable I still feel sony will take some time to catch up...
Can you make a comparison of a budget camera with a budget lens and a budget camera with an expensive lens (for example, Canon 200d).
8:03 "funner" like it's totally a word. lol
Great to see how you will use this setup) I am still happy with my 6300 but consider upgrading to sony a7iii.
The adventures of Potato Jet and Mango Copter!? Fighting bad lighting around the world with only one weakness.....kickflips.
You should try the Fuji XT-30, a competitve camera for the $1000 price range. The Sony A6400 does look great and have been surprised for it's performance.
After using Canon for the past year, I’m still getting used to skin tones coming from the a6400. Still trying to find that perfect PP and LUT combo so I don’t have to tweak and tweak and tweak and tweak.....love the awb lock though
my favorite part is at 9:52 when you talk about canon not releasing a camera unless its bullet proof... Insert R5 jokes here. It's also perfect since you are showing how the canon is not overheating! 😂
Jet lowkey trappin its confirmed lmao 2:37
When potato jet posts😎
Awesome video as usual...love the learning.
Kitty and Jason in the video! Very cool!
Potato Jet good video, Sony is definitely the best company. I had a great Canon Sx50hs but they killed it with lack of hotshoe in latest model. I'm now getting a Sony Rx10 IV a fantastic all round camera. Will be recording videos of friends cover band, but mainly I'm a nature photographer. Sony seem to be one of the few companies, that improve newer versions rather than the kill them off by removing features etc.
Those 8-bit shades are classic.
Potato Jet recommending a Sony? No wonder Jason 'Sony' Wong and his team are dancing with joy!!
I need an a6400! 😩. Much love from. 🇬🇭 Ghana
Not really, a Panasonic G85 is a lot lot better. It has a flip-out screen, great battery life and the best stabilization there is. I'm sure low light performance is the only reason why someone would choose this camera.
@@Albanez39 You copy and pasted this response multiple times, who are you trying to convince, OP or yourself?
Astral'o Pithecus get a life
You can change the shut down temp in the menu, after changing to high it will never shot down.
Choose one ;-) Sony A6400 or Canon M6 mark II or Fujifilm x-s10 ?
9:44 lol. Things change quick in the camera world I guess
9:52 say sike right now.....lmao
Anyone know how this compares between the canon sl3??????? Im stuck between the two and about to buy
Potato Jet BRAINWASHED on the Island 🥺😲😣🤪😵
I’m saving my coins to get Sony A6400 soon before the year is over.
Get the Panasonic G85 and you'll get better picture quality, image stabilization and a lot more. Get a the Sony only if you'll film a lot in low light :)
Get a sony and you get better image quality with slog/hlg and better 4k. You also get better auto focus and better lowlight. Panasonic only offers better stabilization
Astral'o Pithecus Currently I have the Panasonic LUMIX G7 not good on focusing. I have been looking to move to the Sony line of camera.
@@Tech4YourNeeds You can get a GH5 for less than $1500. You can use the lens you already have for the G7.
If you want a cheaper alternative, the G85 is a lot better than the G7, and the G95 is the absolute best in this price range.
Sony cameras are really good, but I wouldn't recommend any of the a6xxx series. If you have the money go with the a7II or one of the R or S versions.
Astral'o Pithecus Thanks for the info.
Skip to 00:09:42 in summer 2020 for a laugh. Oh how the turntables have turned.
