I just upgrade last week from A6000 to A6400 which is a 9yr old vs 4yr old camera. The Eye AF is fantastic, the colors are great, lcd screen is awesome though I do not use touch focus I prefer the shutter button, robust body not plasticky as compare to a6000. The a6400 save highlights better than a6000 and the iso performance at 2000-3200 are so clean great for low light scene. I've watched a lot of videos here before I decided to get the a6400 or a6100 which basically A6100 is a A6400 in a A6000 body. For peace of mind I bought the a6400 over a6100 for its weather sealing because I shoot a lot of outdoor events. For 687 USD 2nd hand body only brandnew condition its an awesome camera both for photo and video.
I did recently the same. Two years with a used A6000 and now I have got a little used A6400 because of better AF, EV, touchdisplay and weather sealing.
I have the a6000 and the a6400 and they are both killer. No doubt that the a6400 is more future proof and produces amazing results in both photos and videos, love that camera!
This body coupled with good glass ( including your ND's and other filters) is a killer. You really don't need more unless you are a pro being paid to produce.
This camera is better for vlogging compared to Sony ZV-E10 in my opinion. The ZVE10 just provides a more user friendly experience, but the built quality and versatility, including weather sealing makes A6400 a clear winner.
This is my first mirrorless. I’m jumping from a Alpha 1 that my mom got while I was still jn high school. To the imho new 6400. I don’t vlog, I don’t talk to myself with my camera, but I do a lot of amateur photography.
Excellent overview of a camera that's now available at an attractive price. I'm curious about your thoughts on how well this camera performs as a high-quality webcam in 2023. Setting aside the fact that newer Sony cameras offer USB-C streaming and charging while this model requires a capture card, let's focus solely on its ability to deliver a 1080p 60fps video feed for livestreaming. Would you consider it the best choice in terms of image quality and cost? Or would options like the a6700 or even the FX30 provide superior image quality with the same lenses? Cheers
Hello! Do you still recommend this camera for jewelry photography? Or which camera do you recommend that is affordable and of good quality? thank you 🙌🏻
What type of wide lens would be the best for this camera? I've had this one for three years, and I absolutely love it. It doesn't have stabilization while vlogging but I just have to be careful when I'm walking. But I'd love a wide lens for a bigger presence.
How is this camera compared to fujifilm xt30 ii and canon r50? Please help me choose one. I am looking for a good hybrid camera for photos and creating cinematic video content. Also does 8bit and 10bit color difference worth it?
I have an excellent condition Canon T7i and several lenses. I was looking for something smaller. Would you consider the a6400 a significant upgrade over the Canon?
In terms of speed and iso performance yes. You will get a much more flexible camera. But shooting both cameras at native 800 iso in bright sunlight for casual stuff you wont see much of an upgrade. Only if you plan to put the camera isn trickier lightning situations
@ Right now the difference between the 6100 and 6400 is almost $200.00 with tax from B&H. I would primarily use the camera for photography and occasionally videos. Would you save the money and get the 6100? I like the 6400 for the metal body and extended shutter life. I am an occasional photographer looking to get better. I am also hoping the 6100 might drop in price for black Friday. Thanks!
Considering ordering this for my family trip, I’m not a pro photographer just want something to capture clear and crisp photos. Would this be the right fit for me? Also like I can use this as a stream webcam for twitch and TH-cam.
I used to have the Sony A7r iii and I loved it. Live in a place where no one is willing to pay even average pricing for photo/video work so I sold it. Looking to order the A6400 for a family vacation and I think it'll be just fine!
I just picked one up last Friday! Got it with the original box, manuals and strap, along with the kit lens and the Sigma 16mm 1.4 lens. Saved around $700 going second hand from someone reputable on the marketplace. So far its been exceeding my expectations. Blown away from what it and the glass can create. I even paired it with my buddy's Sigma 35mm 1.4 art and fell in love even more. Just trying to decide if I want to grab the 30mm and 56mm sigmas or just snag the f2.8 sigma 18-50mm zoom now!
i’m not a beginner, sold all of my other photography gear last year and now i want to get into it again on a budget as an intermediate/advanced level photographer. Is it good for that?
Hi! Thanks for the video!! I'm about to buy my first camera. I would mostly use it for portraits, but all the other features does matter too. What do you think, should I buy Sony A6400 or Canon EOS R50?
in my opinion for vlogging i prefer the up screen than the flip, i need to see myself while recording, rather than turning my eyes to the side. thats pretty annoying
About the lack of 10-bit color: Yes, I wish I had 10-bit, and someday I probably will. But the difference is not that big in the first place. Say you actually record a 10-bit video. What if you need to make adjustments? Well, the colors are going to be "pushed around" and eventually, what you will probably end up with is something closer to 9-bit, and in cases where stronger adjustments are needed, back to 8-bit and maybe less. So really, you still want to be about as precise in your composition, lighting and camera use as you would have been when using 8-bit. Right now, I have no known support for more than 8-bit. My Xperia 10iii phone might support more than 8-bit in its display, but this is not clear in the manual, so I doubt it. If they had any support for more-than-eight-bit I would expect them to want to brag about it. So it sounds like it will be a very long time before I have "10-bit anything."
I can't believe it, but, on a whim, I checked the Sony web site. The venerable Sony E 16-50 OSS pancake lens you feature in this video actually got a software update in January, 2023! "Improves AF performance", according to the web site.
Being offered this for €277 (buying when in Hong Kong from marketplace). Says he is selling redundant cameras so doesn’t need a high price to sell. Does this sound dodgy? Says it’s barely used and he included pictures and videos of camera and all accessories
Can anyone recommend a good overall camera for both still photos and video, as i am going to Tokyo and want to shoot some of that walk-around stuff AND good stills ?! And i am not a noob. Something in this price range, ty.
