- The Sony a6400 is a beast of a camera in a tiny package, but in this video we're going to take it even further to make shooting with it a whole lot better. I'm gonna show you how I set up my camera and turn it into a small and compact Cinema Rig that will help you produce better videos and more importantly make you want to keep shooting more!
I'm hoping this cinema rig camera build out will give you an idea and inspiration as to how you can also build out your own Sony A6400 Cinema Rig.

Love this rig. My all-time favorite accessory is the top handle. It really helps for shooting handheld.

I have the same camera and never thought to get a cage and top handle to stabilize the camera. I always immediately think to go to a gimbal but this is much affordable and less cumbersome. Thanks for the tips! Really appreciate it.
yeah! I too thought a gimbal was the only way to get more stabilized footages! using a cage and handle makes your camera look badass too! 😜

I got both the SmallRig and the UURig cage. The UU wins by a big margin when it comes to featureset. Specifically the built-in arca swiss plate.

I wanted a lil cage rig for a while and after having one I think I'll upgrade to a gimbal RING, my shots are not smooth enough for my liking using handle+grip method on this camera :(
Smallrig also make a ring grip but i might go with something with top handle grip attachments for the , great video nonetheless and im sure it will be enough for those whos bodies' alow them ninja walk and pan like actual ninjas.. i cant long pan without jitters these days

Hey Jay C! Pre pandemic times we travelled a lot so its was great for outdoors stuff and showing more context of the location, but now it’s the lens i use for my talking head videos. That F 1.4 aperture is perfect especially since i shoot at night mostly! Its also amazing for blurring the BG! Hope this answers your question! Thanks for dropping by!

Which is better for you, a6400 or your a7III when it comes to video?
There are pros and cons e..the AF of the A6400 is definitely better and more intelligent! And it has 3 preset modes you can set so i can easily switch between 24fps, 60fps and 120fp, a7iii only has 2.
But, bigger sensor of a7iii is way better esp in lowlight! DOF is also more pronounced and shallower on fullframe!
So I keep them both! 😂

what did you use to connect the microphone as a side mount?
hey rock! thanks for checking out the video! The mic isn't actuall side mounted, the cage allows me to mount the mic on top, but towards one side of the camera. 😁

hey Matesz! YES and NO. you can definitely mix and match diff brands but their compatibility would depend on the kind of mount that the handle or the cage has. some cages have 1/4" hole others have an arca-swiss like clamp mount on the cage so just be sure to get the handle witht he compatible mount. hope this helps! thanks for asking this question! 😁

Great rig. Is the monitor battery also powering the camera? A6400 battery life is terrible. Thx.
Thanks! Unfortunately not, it’s only powering the monitor. I just swap out the a6400’s battery.
@@JustinEspejo I found it really difficult to swap out the battery with this cage and definitely impossible to swap out the SD card. Do you have that issue as well? Especially if the battery is a little tight, it's hard to grab and get it out with the cage on.
@@RockWILK hey man! No, unfortunately, i don’t have a problem with it, i even change batteries and memory card on a gimbal no problem… i wonder why…
@@JustinEspejo I found that the way the camera sits in that cage, it offsets the battery door too far, or it’s too deep, and unless the battery just pops all the way out, I just can’t get to it, maybe it’s my small fat fingers. :-) I definitely can’t get the SD card out. I’m trying a different cage that leaves one side of the battery door completely open, the cage has a cut out, so it’s not completely surrounding the battery door. I’ll see if that works better.
I'm two years late, but amazing tutorial! One question, I suppose you have lost the touch focus of the camera screen, maybe it is an option that you don't usually use and you don't care, but it is true that with that external monitor you lose that capacity of the 6400, right? greetings and thanks!

Idol Ben, I think main thing you have to look at with a6100 is picture profiles. As far as I know, walang Picture Profiles ang a6100. If you don't need the PP, I think the a6100 is a great bang for your buck camera.
