What matters most in life is the quality of our experiences and the ability to be awake to what is real and true in our lives for both the difficult and the happy times. But that is harder than it sounds. More and more, we struggle with attention and focus.
In today’s episode of my series I’m calling Health Bites, I discuss why we are so easily distracted, my own journey into meditation, and the incredible health benefits of a regular meditation practice.

Meditation is turning the volume down on the noise or chatter in your head and around you to experience peace and happiness.

As I’m listening, am thinking “This sounds very Buddhist.” And then he mentions Buddhism 😄 I’m a student of Tibetan Buddhism, and absolutely love it. The philosophy and psychology of it is extremely helpful.

Meditating/Praying is very important in my life every single day. You’re right, life is very precious and goes by very quickly. St Padre Pio said, “Pray, Hope and Don’t Worry”.

What Dr. Hyman is describing _is_ what Jesus taught; it's The Way. When He said, "I Am the Way," it was an Eastern way of saying, "I exemplify The Way."

I like to meditate on Jesus and His Word.
*The Bible is the only book with 100% accurate Prophecy.* Many of these were written hundreds of years before they came to pass, and the Dead Sea Scrolls prove this.
The Bible is real. Jesus is real. Seek Him with a humble and open heart, and you’ll find Him!!
Jesus died on the cross and *shed His blood to pay the price for our sins.* He was buried and rose three days later (and was later taken up to heaven, but He left the Holy Spirit for us!). 🕊 *1 Corinthians 15*
If you *believe in your heart that God raised Jesus from the dead* and *confess with your mouth that He is Lord,* you will be saved. Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved! ❤️ *Romans 10*
    God bless everyone here! 🕊

Great to see a doctor prescribing meditation instead of instead of drugs...I am not an expert but one of the hardest parts of meditation is just getting started. Hard to fit it in when you have a big to do list but I have found it really makes a difference...Sometimes when I am really struggling with over active thoughts I have found that a guided meditation seems easier than following the breath....Great video and I wish more doctors would recommend meditating.

Thank you! I wish more doctors/mental health providers would teach/educate more parents/kids/individuals about meditation FIRST, before medication. Medication is great and is needed for more acute situations. Meditation seems more helpful for chronic situations-ADD, anxiety, and stress.

But that wouldn't pay their bills like pharmaceuticals so it ain't never gonna happen; we have to Heal Ourselves. I learned "meditation" before I knew what I was doing...I think how to do what we have put the "meditation" label on, everything Dr. Hyman is explaining in words, innately. We have to just remember how having forgotten before we're 5.

Engineers are typically a stressed out bunch, LOL; I should know, I have a degree in mathematics and was an engineer for 11 years before I married and became a (no less stressed out) housewife. Took me _years_ to learn to let go and breathe.

This would have been a lot better without the section conflating neurodivergent disorders and the need to medicate them with specific stimulants with a simple "lack of attention" caused by factors like social media. This kind of ableism is already rampant everywhere, and when it appears in medical conversations it's even more invalidating and irresponsible. Like it or not, ADHD as one of several neurodivergent, neurobiological conditions IS real, for people that do have it, stimulant meds ARE necessary and beneficial, and ADHD is not "just not being able to pay attention." Please clean up your rhetoric to reflect accurate medical information around this, or better yet, just leave it out and find a different example.

Pray to your Creator. Stop searching around in your meditation. Pray for you and others.

Who's decided that what he's talking about _isn't_ praying to the Creator. Semantics get us all tangled up in grave clothes, the ones Messiah told people to cut off Lazarus as he emerged from the tomb to free him from his bondage of death.

Dr. Mindy Pelz and Dr. Sten Ekberg discuss it, and I've tried it myself and I feel GREAT while I'm doing it, but the lack of water intake (despite your body's making water as a byproduct of fat consumption) gives me constipation so I quit doing dry fasting.
