Named one of the top 100 heroes and icons of the century by Time Magazine, Deepak Chopra has long been a towering figure in alternative medicine and spirituality. On this episode of Impact Theory with Tom Bilyeu, Deepak Chopra examines the nature of consciousness and pursues eternal questions like, “Who am I? What do I want? What’s my purpose? What am I grateful for?” While advocating reflection, meditation and awareness, he describes the results of the deeply examined life, and gives concrete advice on how to deal with chronic illness, day-to-day suffering, and even the fear of death.
For further information about Deepak Chopra please see www.deepakchopra.com.

How do you know what you know? What is the source of consciousness? [5:19]
No neuroscientist can explain exactly how electrical information becomes experience [7:35]
We have done a good job of dealing with acute illness, but not chronic illness [9:31]
In addition to physical illness, humans also suffer from existential illness [12:15]
Deepak advocates that everyone needs to ask clearly, “Who am I?” [13:50]

Death is not the end of consciousness, it’s the end of a storyline in consciousness [38:37]
    Deepak talks about love [40:53]
Deepak describes his mother’s incredible storytelling skills [44:20]
Deepak explains why gratitude is so important [46:44]

Deepak shares the impact he wants to have on the world [50:03]
    QUOTES:
“To observe a thought is to know you’re not a thought. To observe an emotion is to know that you’re not the emotion. To observe the body is to know that you’re not this bundle of sensations and perceptions. So who are you? What is it that knows?” [13:01]
“When you have time to be still, question your habitual certainties, you realize that actually, we know nothing. Nothing. Everything we know is made up. It’s a human construct.” [29:56]
“Love is not a sentiment. Love is not an emotion. Love is the ultimate truth, and the heart of creation.” [41:09]

Meditation is life changing. After the death of my son, foreclosure of my home, divorce, rape, remarriage to a pathological liar and jail in London my body was a wreck because of all the life traumas/experiences I had lived through. My body became a walking Bomb waiting to go off because of all the energy trapped. It was when I discovered meditation I was able to heal all my past traumas and heal my thoughts/beliefs to re-direct the course of my life and put an end to the negative experiences and start a life that I loved to live. Mind/body and soul are 100% correlated.

Dimi Dimi I have done a lot of self meditation, yoga, body scan meditation was powerful specifically when physical pain was present. Breathing meditation literally helped me move out of chronic inflammation because after my sons tragic accident I lived in a state of terror-literally walking around not breathing. I had to teach myself how to breathe again and uncover the terror so I could rewrite the script to create a different experience when I thought about the events around his death.

Amen. "The future of medicine is self-regulation." I've been a nurse for 32 years. Just yesterday I was having a discussion about this very thing with a 32 y.o. young man who was my patient. We talked about it for the two days I took care of him. He said, "I gottcha, this is true. I'm going to explore this." Very satisfying. Kids are being born more conscious now and more readily open to truth.

They had to go out the next day and make up their own endings and it had to have a happy ending and a love story. We make up our own stories in our lives. We create our own reality. I get that now. That little bit of information put it all into perspective for me. That was a profound insight. It was worth watching the whole video just for that little bit of information. We can make our story happy or sad. It's all up to us to give ourselves a happy ending.

Decades ago, many scientists thought that Quantum Physics was complete "woo woo" and complete crap...... Fast forward several decades and it's now accepted in science, and they no longer look at it as "woo woo".... They don't understand it, but they accept it.....I think many area of metaphysics will be discovered this way over the next several decades....
You are also wrong about Joe Dispenza. Just listen to the countless videos of people who have overcome problems using his techniques. There are so many testimonials that you can't even count them.... I personally know of someone who healed her bad knee by using his techniques over several weeks. And she had the knee problem for years. Skeptics scoff and things they can't understand or explain in a lab.... There is nothing you can do to change their minds.

Chopra is the perfect example of someone who is mixing science with spirituality as he likes, to make it sound good a make huge $ while doing it. He is a joke to actual scientists or people like Sam Harris. Just look at some debates with real scientists. It's priceless to see him get angry and scream made up words and sentences that makes no actuall sense while the scientist is explaining to him that he has no clue what's he talking about. Btw there is also Chopra generator website, where u can test if u can even tell what is bs made by him and what is randomly generated bs, I sure can't tell accurately, cos it's kinda the same.

    • @down-the-rabbit-hole

He would kick the modern scientist's ass across the room. As he has documented study after documented study proving the existence of ESP for example.....

Am almost 75, a woman and live in the Netherlands. I know Deepak Chopra from his books from the beginning. And believe me, he and his books are fantastic.
I started practicing yoga when I was 29 years old and it has done wonders to my body and the way I have lived my life since then. No illnesses, unbridled creativity. I didn't know I was musical but got myself an electronic keyboard and taught myself how to play. All the hits of the seventies. I had one book that always was close to me: "Living in abundance" from Deepak Chopra: "Discover your infinite possibilities step by step.
When I was in my fourties the computer made its entrance in my life and instead of seeing it as an office object I found a creative way of using it by starting to program simple things like for instance a household book, recipe book, kind of spread sheet like if you wish. Later on I became a member of an English computer club who played with the first 3D Virtual Reality software that was available in the beginning of the nineties. And all like a hobby. (I am a mother and my kids in those days were in their teens). In my days it was not yet that common that a woman had her own job outside her household.
Anyway we programmed a lot of 3D games, sent them in to a central address in the U.K. where they were distributed to every other member who wanted to play them. I invented the first electronic greeting card and got a prize for it. Those were the days my friend :)
I was one of the first people to be online on the World Wide Web with this 3D Construction Kit software and in the course of the years had many contacts all over the world with people on the Net.
It so happened that I got on a website, created by the daughter of Deepak Chopra where people from India were encouraged to get into contact with people from the western countries, like U.S., Europe etc. It was Deepak's idea that we all could learn a lot from each other. And we surely did.
I translated a book in my own language from an Indian author and we had discussions on this book on the website. This resulted in a great group of friends who kept into contact over the years with one another and still to this time I regularly have email contact with that Indian author and some other friends from the U.S. , U.K. and India.
I made a poetry album with a guy from New York and we had great conversations about this.
I had my own video channel (under my own name) on which I posted videos about our collective imaginations and fantasies.
Sadly Google decided to no longer continue that kind of service so everything went offline.
Nowadays I still have a video channel under my nickname. I still do make videos but now from a game
that came into my life some 4 years ago that made everything I ever dreamt of of playing come true.
No Man's Sky: the game in which you are able to really travel to beautiful planets and galaxies in an endless way. It is a procedural generated Universe with 25 galaxies and trillions of planets, too many to visit in one lifetime. It has grown in those 4 years from a simple exploring and survival game into a multipurpose even multiplayer and crossplay phenomenon in which everyone can become whatever he/she wants.
Made lots of meditative videos about the beauty of the planets and animals in this game and I will play it till I die I guess.
I've enjoyed this interview tremendously cause it explained so very clearly what is possible in anyone's life!!
Am very grateful to have lived and still live such a for me exiting life and when I die I can say, like my mother said when she died: I had a good life.

I read his book "The Seven Spiritual laws of Success" which had an impact on me. As you said you identified hidden talents in you, i too all of a sudden started to compose songs. Infact a year ago i taught myself to play the keyboard and have uploaded a few tracks on my TH-cam channel. Im 70 now and learnt all this in the last year. So i can understand when i read all about what you had to say. Amazing stuff. Appreciate all what you have done. All the very best.

I wrote a poem that covers some of the same territory that Deepak covers. It follows:
    What's real
    What's not
    Is reality just objective physicality
Or is it really shared subjectivity
If you see what I see
    And we agree
    It's real
If you sense what I sense
    And we have consensus
    It's real
Now imagine an earth without you and me
    Or any of our kind
With a mind inclined to find
Would the ground and all around cease to be
Or would the only thing missing be
    What we call reality

Mr Nobody Thank you. I also wrote another poem which touches on Depak’s meta awareness. It follows:
Who is the I in me
      The watcher within
      The one aware when
      My mind wonders
      Here, there and everywhere
Who with gentle breath and tender touch
Stills my mind and guides me back to now
Call the I what you will
      The East's suffering self
      Or the West's sentient soul
      Either way
Does being mindful really have the power
      As some say
      To make us whole
If we learn to pay attention
And intentionally inhabit each moment of the day
Instead of letting our minds stray
      And wander away

Mr Nobody just one more on this topic. It follows:
When I peeked into my mind the first time
      I was shocked to find
      A babbling brook
When I took a closer look
      I saw streams of dreams
      I was really shaken
      When it dawned on me
      I'd just awakened
      Now aware
      I watched my mind meander
      Here, there and everywhere
      When my attention tether tightened
      And grew taut
      Now aware
      I breathed a mindful breath
      To remind myself
      To remain awake
Instead of drifting off to sleep again
In an endless flow of roaming thought

I AM SO HAPPY that NON DUALITY is finally hitting the mainstream, TH-cam etc in a bigger way. It is expanding, and of course it is, as suffering that humans causes has gone so far, that it is a response to our unconsciousness, which is the cause of all suffering.
Non dual spirituality is THE single most 'important' thing in the world right now, for all humans. It is the only "thing", which is beyond things, that can merge us together, to realize that we are and always were "one", and not two. Not separate, but union ( Yoga=Union ).
The Eastern "traditions" has known this for thousands upon thousands of years, and the West is only now beginning to finally become alive, and not a zombie state of fully living in and as the ego identity.
Freedom, love, kindness, boundless joy is your 'nature'. We don't have to go anywhere, or do a single thing, to experience it, or rather Be it. You are already home, thinking you are the poor little me that has to fight the seem-to-be external world.
You(Ego-you, that is) versus the Universe isn't a real match, so drop it. Drop it, let go of yourself and paradoxically ( for the mind ) - you find yourself. And when you do, you realize that "You" is all there is. All externals are happening from within you. You project yourself in form, within time and space for a time, thinking that "this is reality", "I am this body and my though and emotion".
No. You are the observer of life, and life itself.

Sam Bilyeu is very smart and asked great questions and clearly has an open mind. Tom Bilyeu is light years beyond Sam Harris. Sam Harris in 2010 tried to destroy Deepak in an onstage debate. Sam Harris is clueless and just focused on materialism/reality. Deepak Chopra is truly an highly enlightened spiritual master. I have studied 3 very advanced types of meditation over the past 28 years including teaching the most advanced meditation on earth for 9 years and practicing it for 12 years. One of the other meditations is an Instant Miracles meditation within a few minutes which I easily practice and enjoy. Limited minds fixated only on reality are clueless about what lies beyond that and the advantages you have when you do so and actually use that to improve your own life. I belief in magic and miracles and instant healings and have manifested an abundance of them in my life. Deepak I am sure have even done much better than I have. Sam Harris can never understand and accept what Deepak Chopra knows and experiences in his life because of his spiritual and consciousness practices that gone far beyond what clueless people believe when then only limit themselves with reality. Don't try to convince the other of that as it isn't possible unless the materialist/realist experiences it for themselves. Just move along and enjoy the journey of life in the Pure Consciousness Awareness state of living life now the best you can. That is what I do and leave the battles to the morons that struggle through life. Life is much easier and better when you know the Ultimate reality available to enlightened humans now. The struggles bypass my experience and the materialist/realist fights them to their own dismiss.

Thank You 🙏🏻 for this interview. I love Deepak Chopra I have followed him off and on for many years. It’s very soothing just to listen to his voice. I love studying science also as Wellers metaphysics and quantum physics and I agree with everything he said. This has brought in some new insights. 💓 Blessings

Wow.. this has been the best interview I've ever seen..
I've heard some puranas from Gurus and they convey the same. Universal consciousness. but as an extended version. I think I'm lucky to be born in such tradition.
his talk has added more scope to it.. thanks Tom
