Best tell me about the catch because I am actually thinking of buying a set of these with the airframe side. The glasses bit worries me a touch. Much smaller than she was expecting old boy.
Definitely considering grabbing a pair of Goggles L as my first goggles but the only thing worrying me is the latency. I don't expect to be doing any crazy maneuvers yet but I'd still like to feel in control of my craft without any "laggy" sensation.
Awesome goggles, got a set. Thanks for the review. Also I was wondering if there is a cheap way to output live HD video from the goggles as well. I saw you can buy an additional walksnail kit apparently as well.
For a long time, as the price of Chanel increased, I no longer thought I could afford it. I think I'll be happy that I have the kislux as my travel bag that I don't have to take care of. By the way, I'm sure no one will have a hard time telling the difference. Thanks for the comparison.
Interesting. It's natural to compare these with the Goggles X but I'm interested in how they compare with the *other* Walksnail box goggles, the Fatshark Recon HD. In most ways they appear to be very similar, except that the Goggles L gets head tracking while the Recon HD has HMDI out (via USB-C).
Oh, different antenna configuration too. The Fatshark Recon HD has 4 internal patch antennas, while the Googles L have two internal patch antennas and two internal omnis. Some Recon HD owners modified theirs to replace two of internal patches with external omnis. I'm a Recon HD user myself (they're my only goggles), hence the interest in how the Goggles L compares. Not as an upgrade as such, but as a potential second set for use by spectators.
Mads, I’m new to your channel and don’t know if you have stated previously about how large that field is. I’m just interested in what kind of range/penetration you’re getting on these cheaper goggles. Edit: never mind, I see the soccer field markings now.
Hah, there has been an open request for WalkSnail to support moving the goggles own OSD elements based on layout data from the FC for more than a year already. Got a brief mention but was never properly implemented by Caddx.
Great video! Just received mine today, and I swear, I cannot figure out how in the hell do you turn them on? I can't find it anywhere, and unless mine is not working after just plugging them in, they won't turn on. Any help would be appreciated!
@@MadRC Thank you very much, sir! I was hoping that wasn't the case and I was missing a button somewhere! I've waited a couple weeks for them already, what is one or 2 more to have them actually work! Thanks again for your great videos and the help! Larry from Florida!
I wouldn't worry about it any. That's how I've configured the addon VRX (custom front and antennas) and it's able to fly behind my entire house that has metal cabinets, plaster walls, and false stone on the exterior. This is with the patches aimed away from the house, so that's on omnis. Usually doesn't fall below 14Mbps in those conditions. Unless you do very extended range behind yourself, it'll be okay.
Hello, I have had a Samsung LCD TV for 5 years without any pixel errors. This is a quality problem that should be fixed as it would bother me on every flight. Greetings Didi
theres always somethin with caddx. i mean no carrying bag is a lil mistake but just as easy to get right. caddx needs to do better. quite the lil list of things that could be better.
@@semadragun it is correct, easy search using a web browser and you'll find that I'm right. If you're not even trusting internet try feeding 120hz into goggles X or G2/3
Maybe it's something that you get used to, but if you're flying or driving with the head stracker, how do you distinguish between your head moving and the CAMERA moving from the actual quad or vehicle moving?! This would seem to mess with your little pea brain. How do you realistically distinguish one from the other? With a vehicle, you can stop movement and shift your head around without affecting where the vehicle is going. If you're flying, ....
@@Mr.Thermistor7228 There are not two cameras, but if you move your head to the side the camera will move in that direction while the quad does whatever your fingers command of the transmitter. If you're going straight and turn your head to the left, your vision is no longer seeing what the quad is doing. It will keep going straight.
Hmm... You are spending a lot of time talking about some subtle differences between two goggles, but totally omitting the elephant in the room - horrible fish eye effect distorting and completely negating the point of HD picture.
And i can take a conclusion that you're not even familiar with fpv world yet 😂... It's the field of view btw, some people like it narrow but many people like it wide so we can see the surrounding
Ooooh, ooooh, I know the answer! They're cheap because they're an ecosystem trap... They have no HDMI in, meaning you can't experiment with other digital systems, and there's no option for analogue either. They're relying on people investing in these goggs as starters, maybe buying a cam/vtx or 2 and then staying with WS due to the sunken cost fallacy. I'll be ignoring them, hopefully I can build a budget OpenIPC system in 6-12months. I can already build a 1080p 60hz OLED OpenIPC goggle for around the cost of the Goggles L, so I'm excited to see what the community has to offer next year :-) The gimbal is cool, but I'm seeing reports on FB groups of them shedding their final platform and the attached camera...
@@semadragun The first two commercial products look great, if you're flying a big enough platform to carry them they look like a good option for those interested in some tinkering :-)

Have you done a glass to glass latency test? In Bardwell's recent review he felt like there was a lot.

Great video as always Ian! I’ve been interested in these goggles, do you think their small size will affect someone with a big head such as myself?

How do these compare to the Fat Shark Scout HD goggles? Fat sharks are a bit cheaper but don't have head tracking. Any other difference?

They should just come on. There is no power button on these, if nothing sadly it's likely faulty.
