Like some people have mentioned, if you really want top of the line analog goggles, the Skyzone 04x are as good as it gets and have an even bigger screen than the ev300o's. I have found the ev300o go on sale more often but it's definitely worth checking both!
Constructive criticism: when writing on the white board, the green pen is a bit hard to see as it doesn't have much contrast, maybe a darker color (other than black to make the distinction) would be better Great video tho, I'm getting into fpv and still trying to find some googles so it came at the right time for me!! :D thanks!
@Chris Valin I think it is worth mentioning, it is maybe small detail, but changing a lot of small details can make a big difference. Also Matt himself liked this comment. I don't think there's anything wrong in sharing ideas in a nice way.
I'm using an Eachine EV800D, and it works for me. I was using a no-name knock-off before that, and found it was good for me, but the USB connector wore out. I fly indoors, so range isn't an issue for me. Very informative video.
Man, I totally forgot to mention that I wanted to do a giveaway for a few of these goggles! I guess you guys will just have to wait until next week's video... Updates will also be posted over on Instagram! -> instagram.com/matt_pochwat
Matt, there are no links to the antenna you use with your analog drones listed that I can see there, would it be possible to link them? I just bought the Cobra X via your affiliate link and would like to do the same with the antennas and a few other things if you'd be so kind. Thanks in advance!
From ev800d, I upgraded to 04L. I wear glasses. I thought the adjustment in the 04L will work with my - 3.0 vision. But my astigmatism is what makes it hard for me to use it consistently. I should have bought the cobraX. But the 04L is a great goggle.
Holy hell, the Cobra X for $~215 CAD? Done and done, what a great price and amazing timing there Matt. I know I already like box goggles, and I haven't been able to settle on a slim profile one. I think this works out perfectly for me, because then, my next upgrade will 100% be the DJI FPV goggles and some non DJI kwad.
A Good run down of the options available for beginners and veterans of FPV. Having DVR built in is a feature all beginners should definitely have as priority #1, as they'll need it (more than once lol) to find their kwad after a crash. I just purchased the Skyzone sky04x goggles and my second iflight chimera4 (parked my 1st one in the top of a pine tree in the Rockies) BNF TBS Crossfire Rx and waiting for TBS TX module so I can try them out. Bench testing results of the sky04x goggles have been impressive with the high resolution display and ability to get a single in focus image I can see without needing additional lenses to correct for me. Great video man, thanks.
Great video! Just a quick note: when discussing FPV goggles, it's important to focus on analog options, especially for beginners. Digital systems like DJI require extra setups and aren't as straightforward. Thanks for the insights on the Eachine EV100 and VR006-they're solid choices for those on a budget!
Hey Matt, Second time I watched this video. I went all out (to me) When I bought all of the parts to build my first quad. T-Motor F60 1950 kv motors,T-Motor F722 FC, T-Motor F55 ESC, TBS Diversity receiver, AKK Infinite VTX with DVR, I even got a TS100 soldering iron and new laptop For BetaFlight, TBS Agent X, and BLHeli; but went cheap on the goggles. I got the Eachine EV800D. First 3 times I flew without goggles and crashed, changed some stuff on BetaFlight and got my goggles and flew for about a minute, then lost video feed. Took the goggles off and still had line of site, but lost it in the sun. I don't know if it was my goggles or the VTX, but I was still close enough in range for both of them to keep working. I had the VTX set at 1000 mw too. Do you think it could've been the antennas? Now I have a used Rekon 3 coming in the mail. Hopefully, I won't lose that one too. I want to get a Cinelog 25 or 35, but that will have to wait for a little while. Great video by the way.
Hi Matt, love your content. I noticed you fly both DJI and showing analog. Do you fly both or steer towards digital ? Also is it worth getting something like an adapter for the DJI goggles to go analog ? Or buy a complete new analog goggles ?
Matt - great video and info. I just picked up the Skyzone 04Ls from RaceDayQuads. I was really looking close at the Cobra X because I do wear glasses and they fit over glasses and have some pretty decent features, but the 04Ls have +6 -6 focus and I do not need glasses with them. I will never dish out the money for DJI anything so the 04Ls are great with HDMI input so I can use a different setup if I so choose. I'm really enjoying them so far and the DVR is great compared to the BetaFpv goggles I was using.
I think its a good call. DJI just hasnt really listened to the fpv community at all and doesnt seem to be interested to keep the system alive. While it is a very good system, it just doesnt have the future that alternatives have. Cant really go wrong with high quality analog goggles and an hdmi input.
Another thing to mention for DJI is hardware and software updates for their products. I've heard of issues getting some goggles and receivers connecting. Just something to throw out there.
Hi! Very nice and informative video! I would like to ask in this aspect how about the compatibility with drones, vedeotransmitters in drones or/if it can be switched to use one of those goggles. Would be nice to know what we are looking into drones to know if they will work with goggles or not. Also is better to get goggles and then buy drones for them or to focus on drones and then buy goggles that can work with those drones. Looking forward to have an answer if possible. Thanks!
Great video! I've watched so many of these reviews and my main interest in all of them is the focus and IPD. I'm older and have trouble seeing the image on my Headplay and the first Attitudes a few years ago. That's the problem when buying online because it's not like you can order them, try them out, then return them cause you can't focus the image. I'm watching for the one's which provide the max adjustments for the eyes.
Bought the 04L, the adjustments are great but my eyes Really can't get used to it. In the first week I see two images and can't fuse them to one. My vision is - 3.0. I blame my astigmatism for the slightly left eye blurry image even though with adjustments.
@@jeffclassics My problem is focus. My Headplay has a single screen so no problem there. It just out of focus enough to really strain the eyes. I've done everything possible including getting a special lens which used to work but no more. So I'm thinking of binocular style but that I can focus the image.
Same problem for me. I was using eachine box style with a headband magnifier lens I mounted inside because the focus range built in wasn't enough. Even so, after flying for awhile I had to take a few minutes for my vision to normalize (quit seeing double). I just received my new Skyzone sky04x goggles and while not flight tested yet, I was able to adjust them for my eyes to get a clear in focus (both eyes) single image of the menu screens that is the best view I've ever seen for FPV gear.
@@segpie have you bought a goggles? I think my case is different. When I was still in box goggles there's no problem whatsoever. If you started with box and there's problem in your focus then you really should try a new type of goggles. Btw, 3weeks past I'm now OK with the 04L. I adjusted basically
Buy once, cry once...get what you can afford. My first goggles were box goggles (7 years ago) and I used them once and sold them, I agree you spend what you can afford but more importantly if you're new you have no idea if you're even going to like this hobby. I've owned no name box goggles, Fatshark, Skyzone, Eachine, etc. The only goggles I purchased new were my box goggles but eventually I settled on Fatshark 16:9 which is just personal choice with a wide field of view. As with everything in this hobby it's all personal preference with a ton of research in the process but not knowing what you like until you try it makes this an expensive hobby.
Great video. Recently dark blue ev300o was selling at ~270 USD. But that deal went out of stock fast. Still until the end of October it should be possible to make a group purchase in banggood of ev300o at the price of ~350 USD Usually, I carry one additional pair of cheap boxed goggles with me so other people can watch as well. Maybe I will bring someone into the hobby.
I started with quads in 2014. Yet, my first purchased goggles were the DJI in 2020...although I'm still a beginner! I wasn't able to activate them until 2021 due to Windows 10. 🤦 first experience with goggles was from the first NBD RTF kit. 2021 and I'm still a beginner!
Matt, detailed and well produced as usual. My only addition is that you can add an Analog adapter and video receiver to DJI goggles. That way you can fly both analog and digital on one set of goggles. Otherwise, thanks for the video!
Great video. Helped me out a lot bc i kinda started with digital stuff and moved to fpv drones that were also digital. I wasnt aware just how bad my goggles are and how good analog video can actually be when done right..
I just bought the fatshark scout goggles. My tinyhawk transporter 3 box goggles get way better signal. I bought a better antenna but I do t think it's going to help lol.
I’ve had the SkyZone O4L (LCOS) & Cobra X. And I ended up selling the O4L due to the smaller fov and the ipd adjustment were quite annoying imo. Kept having to adjust them, they wouldn’t stay in place. But the 50 fov on box goggles is just amazing to me, also I felt the picture quality was the same as the lcos if not better actually.
@@davidcee1830 I use an external 5000mah 3s on all my goggles mate, I’ve even got a brick of a 12volt lithium battery that’s a million or something 😆 End of the day I want absolutely confidence that I’m not going to have power to my goggles stop at any point 👍🤝
Very informative, I am really interested in fpv and how they can fly, but sadly it's not popular here in the Philippines due to the cost you need to fly one.
Thanks for the video! But analyzing the market that you proposed. Best choice is Dm800 for cheap choice or Cobra X for the best. If i have to spent 500/700 euro digital solution is better way
Thanks for the information man. I just bought the Eachine ev800D. Thanks for the review. This will be it for me until i am able to upgrade to DJI digitals. Keep up the great work.
Nowadays the Fatshark Scout HD are a got choice aswell (250$). 1920x1080 resolution and 43° Fov. 2 built in antennas and 2 external ones. They also feature DVR. The only thing I have to complain is that they do not have an HDMI-Input and do not support analog receivers but just the Sharkbyte / HDZero system. But I guess the lack of analog is not that big of a deal because I would not go back to analog anyway :D
I've been using the Skyzone 02x goggles for years now and I still like them a lot. They now have a new 2021 version of the 020 that has an OLED display
2 years down the line, what are your thoughts on analog receivers attached to the DJI goggles 2? I have the avata but got a couple cheap analog drones to bridge the gap from sim to flying full acro haha
Great video, thank you for the information. Is it worth it upgrading the antennas on cheap goggles like the EV800Ds or saving up and going for better goggles? Also, what size SD card would you recommend for the goggles?
It's definitely worth upgrading the antennas. If you have a good video transmitter in your quad as well, you can get some decent results with the ev800d's
ev300o can be found at Walmart or eBay for $300 new. not the cool colors but black, white, and blue. Seems like a good deal to me. I snagged a white pair and they are super fine. ;)
Great blog, I’m trying to determine which Googles are compatible with betafpv Cetus X for sight/lens purposes, have you covered this subject at all as I know very little on this.
That is really good review and explanation. I wear prescription glasses and had in mind that I could get the DJI V2 but it seems that it may be a problem for someone like me. More likely I will have to content with something like Skyzone Cobra X
Great review! I currently use the FXT Viper Goggles which are great but been looking at the Cobra X lately. Might be time for a change. I wear reading glasses. Do you know if glasses can be used with the Cobra's? Thanks 👊🏻
I rock Cobra Xs with glasses. If you have reasonably sized frames it should fit. A quick measurement of the inside diameter shows about 42mm tall x 152mm wide at the arms. Its about 125mm below the arms where the lenses would sit.
Hey, could anyone help me out? I've only ever had box style goggles. I currently have the skyzone Kobra x, but now I'm considering getting a fatshark. One thing I really like about box style goggles is that it feels very immersive with everything so big in front of your eyes. Do you get the same feeling with the other type? I really don't want to lost that aspect. Any perspective would be appreciated 👍. Thanks!
Very helpful! Thank you. Thinking about starting this new hobby. After a lot of videos, I'm thinking radiomaster boxer elrs, cobra s, and maybe tinyhawk freestyle 2.
Been flying since 2016ish, I don’t want to go back to the size of digital (DJI) basically a box goggle…also don’t want to spend $600+ for the “best” analog goggles because they are still analog. I’ve had a few different box goggles, EV100’s, and for the price finding older Fatshark HD2/HD3 were the best choice for me, should be able to get clean goggles with everything you need for around $200. Huge upgrade over my $120 eachine ev100’s they are awesome goggles but the FOV is barely just enough to get by. Really think I’m eventually going to go with Sharkbyte if the video ever looks like DJI or if DJI makes smaller goggles I’d go with them.
I have just bought those Eachine EV800DM because (belieave it or not jaja) I had some worst (VR009) For me now is like I switched to 4k from 720.. Maybe in a future I'll get some better but for now is good enoght to practice and to learn how to fly. Thanks for this kind of videos that help people like me that are new on FPV. Saludos desde México!
Question. I have DJI FPV drone. It came with DJI FPV Goggles V2. Can you tell me how I can know which drones would be compatible with these goggles so that I don't have to buy another set of goggles? I keep finding different information, like one place I read that the V2 goggles are totally locked out and are a closed system and only work with DJI FPV drone and nothing else. Is that true? Can't I use my nice V2 goggles with anything else? :( I'd like to buy a cheaper FPV drone to play around with and learn so I don't have to worry about crashing my super fancy DJI FPV.
Hi Matt! great video as always. I'm a happy owner of a Protek35 and Ev800d, i'm not interested into long range, however i'm a little bit disappointed about the signal behind obstacles at close range (less than 100-150 meters). Would you suggest me something to increase the signal penetration? Current setup: Protek35 - Succex Mini force 25 to 600mW - Albatross antenna (mmcx) EV800D everything stock B Band - Channel 1 (5733Mhz)
I have the DJI FPV but am interested in buying a racing drone. The one pictured in the video does not have any documentation that it is actually compatible. What should I be searching for in the description? Just HD or something more?
They're very similar but because of their popularity, the 04x seem to have been selling for more recently. The price of the red ev300o is really low at the moment! I've seen more consistent sales for them. Both are great!
@@MattPochwat you right, red ev now got cheaper price, but not dramatic, around 15 dollar. But 04x has 1280/960 and 46 degree, ev 1024/768 and 38 degree.
@@NORMAxxl Surprisingly, the ev300o's were $300usd for most of this week. It was an amazing deal. I completely agree with you though, at a $15 difference, the 04x is definitely better. Originally when I wrote the script for this video the price difference was greater, and it was an oversight on my part if the price is so close now. Again, it's important to keep checking back. The prices are unpredictable right now!
I bought the DJI avata but I am new I would like to know if with the DJI control what drone do you recommend to practice to star in the world of freestyle ?or what receiver to use
Huh? What about Caddx Walksnail? The moonlight system seems superior to the old Ocosync3. Also, O4 air unit will require new DJI Goggles 3, hence DJI O3 is a dead end while Walksnail Google's X have pluggable receivers for future proof newer protocols. You named it as an upside analog, and forgot all about it digital.
Do you fly with your patch that way or is it only used as example? Normally you'd want the patch pointing at the quad (which is generally pointing in the direction you're looking - though not always). i have an angled SMA bracket on mine with a small coax extension to point them in the right direction. Great vid and content as ever Matt

I wanted to buy the fatshark scout goggles do they work with the emax tinyhawk 2 freestyle? And do you think they are good goggles? It said the resolution was 1136x640 with 60 fps and a osd. The emax goggles I'm currently using terrible quality. Makes it unenjoyable to fly
Mate please if possible give me some help, I want to start as a FPV world... I can see just from my left eye, the right eye is almost 100% blind. I was looking for some video to get some info about it to decide with goggles is the best for me, on that case seeing just from the left eye, do you think that the best is the box goggles is the best to me? Thanks Obs: The left side is 100% I don't need to use eyeglasses. Obs²: I born blind form my right eye, this monocular vision is my normal sinse I born, ir means that it does not afect me.
I have had a lot of box goggles and just got some fatshary hdo2 with the rapid fire . And as far as head sets go the higher price give you clear view and a large screen aand the range I get with my more expensive goggles almore range as far as my dji system. Kept having to adjust them, they wouldn’t stay in place. But the 50 fov on box goggles is just amazing to me, also I felt the picture quality was the same as the lcos if not better actually.
I'm actually thinking of doing the same!
@@MattPochwat yeah i hear you, box is just comfortable man
Absolutely the same story for me mate 😃👍🤜🏻🤛🏻
I saw some reddit posts about bad battery time (less than 20 min) for Cobra X. What is your experience with them?
@@davidcee1830 I use an external 5000mah 3s on all my goggles mate, I’ve even got a brick of a 12volt lithium battery that’s a million or something 😆
End of the day I want absolutely confidence that I’m not going to have power to my goggles stop at any point 👍🤝
Very informative, I am really interested in fpv and how they can fly, but sadly it's not popular here in the Philippines due to the cost you need to fly one.
I was thinking about buying a new pair of goggles! Thanks for the video :D
You’re making it so much easier for me to deside 👍👍👍👍
Thanks for the video! But analyzing the market that you proposed. Best choice is Dm800 for cheap choice or Cobra X for the best. If i have to spent 500/700 euro digital solution is better way
Thanks for the information man. I just bought the Eachine ev800D. Thanks for the review. This will be it for me until i am able to upgrade to DJI digitals. Keep up the great work.
definitely didn't crash my drone and am now binge watching ur youtube video LOL
Excellent And Timely review on goggles. Thank you very much.
Can you tell me which drone makes you can fly with those googles?
Perfect timing. I just got my first fpv drone and fpv goggles. the goggles are garbage so this video was a huge help.
Definitely need a review on the Skyzone cobra s
2 years down the line, what are your thoughts on analog receivers attached to the DJI goggles 2? I have the avata but got a couple cheap analog drones to bridge the gap from sim to flying full acro haha
Any chance you’ll do a video to go over antenna upgrades? You had an old video that went over a little.
I snagged a white pair and they are super fine. ;)
That was video I needed. Thanks again!
Haha I run v1 doms I bought on pre-order. Also have the eachine 800. The v1s have a rapidfire module. Each pair will go 5km+
Thks & a naive question;
??Why not just use VR phone goggles to fly drones & a strict-down phone with a good video camera on the flying drone??
Great blog, I’m trying to determine which Googles are compatible with betafpv Cetus X for sight/lens purposes, have you covered this subject at all as I know very little on this.
I learned on crap goggles and when I finally upgraded, it took me a long time to get used to them.
Hi you are at the same stage 3 months ago as I am today! Just bought the Boxer… how did you get on with the goggles and drone?
Thank you for the great video. I just subscribed. Question. Would "any" goggle work with a camera drone? Thank you in advance.
If I end up spending more money than I don’t have this is on you! 😂
why do you say that the resolution is 720x576 if the matrix in glasses is 900*600 (ev800dm)?
3:34 that's just wrong, it's aspect ration you don't get less information, for 16:9 you get a wider screen which is what people prefer since year 2000
Thanks for the video, very useful. Your left eye is blinking, you must take some rest.
Can you recommend safter lipo charging setups ? Like batt safe /ammo box? Thanks. Love your vids
Both are great options! I personally use an ammo box.
@@MattPochwat awesome. Thanks !! A video on that would be cool ! I like your visual style of explanation with a white board.
What basic goggles would you recommend for an Autel Evo2
Hai Matt. You mentioned that you did upgrade your Eachine EV800DM antennas. Could you please share what type of antennas you upgraded to. TQ
There is also the skyzone sky04x witch is a better version of the eachine ev300o
Or the eachine ev300o is a cheaper version of the sky04x :-)
Oh I didn't see what he said sry Matt
Hi Matt! great video as always. I'm a happy owner of a Protek35 and Ev800d, i'm not interested into long range, however i'm a little bit disappointed about the signal behind obstacles at close range (less than 100-150 meters). Would you suggest me something to increase the signal penetration?
Current setup:
Protek35 - Succex Mini force 25 to 600mW - Albatross antenna (mmcx)
EV800D everything stock
B Band - Channel 1 (5733Mhz)
Get a better patch antenna. The triple feed patch is very good for the price.
@@timon72489 Hey dude! Would you have a reference, please? Cheers!
I have the DJI FPV but am interested in buying a racing drone. The one pictured in the video does not have any documentation that it is actually compatible. What should I be searching for in the description? Just HD or something more?
Hi, thanks for video! But why echine and not skyzone 04x? Nearly same price, but second better?
@@MattPochwat hard times right now for electronics) but that not lower quality of your video, thank you for your great job 👍)
I love using box goggles when flying fixedwing but in the end I really enjoy my DJI goggles
What do you recommend for flying inside buildings analog or digital? Is one better at keeping signal through walls?
What would be the best upgraded antenna paired with the DM
Fatshark v6 attitude have hdmi input fot hd0 module to get hdzero for $200. ? It is sort of digital video upgrade game that has been used for fpv ?
Would you happen to know if the DJI google would work with TBS Crossfire Nano RX for the iFlight Nazgul5 Evoque F5 F5X Squashed X HD 4S / 6S 5 Inch?
Hi man, those googles are universal? (Can connect with any drone)? I have 2 small drones, Jy018 and 998 Max pro, can I connect any of those googles?
Do you fly with your patch that way or is it only used as example? Normally you'd want the patch pointing at the quad (which is generally pointing in the direction you're looking - though not always). i have an angled SMA bracket on mine with a small coax extension to point them in the right direction. Great vid and content as ever Matt
I used to have an angled connector but now I just make sure to stand at an angle so that my patch is facing forward.
Thank you. A very informative video!
Yesterday the cobra x v2 were on sale and i bought them for 167$!
hello matt i dont know much about these things with the skyzone 04l what i woud like to know i will just need a go pro (what nuimber ) if i want to put it onto a any drone or rc car, thank you
What if I have DJI FPV googles and one DJI Air unit on my drone
May I just buy another BNF drone without any Video unit ? and just svitch over the one I have ?
And safe some $200 on it
Man, this really helped me out
I am new to drones, have been trying to do my research, am I able to hook all the goggles listed to any drones above $300?
went from the DJI FPV DRONE to analog for a week...hated it...CADDX Vista and HD is the only way I will ever go.
I have $1000 to begin in the fpv world. I will like to start full with digital. What do you recommend me regarding Google, Drone, Charger and controller??
I wanted to buy the fatshark scout goggles do they work with the emax tinyhawk 2 freestyle? And do you think they are good goggles? It said the resolution was 1136x640 with 60 fps and a osd. The emax goggles I'm currently using terrible quality. Makes it unenjoyable to fly
Thank you for this very informative video
Mate please if possible give me some help, I want to start as a FPV world... I can see just from my left eye, the right eye is almost 100% blind. I was looking for some video to get some info about it to decide with goggles is the best for me, on that case seeing just from the left eye, do you think that the best is the box goggles is the best to me? Thanks
Obs: The left side is 100% I don't need to use eyeglasses.
No box gets me out that far and clear view
Skyzone cobra s is advertised as 4:3 but the screen looks like 16:9
Very Helpfull. Thanks
Great video, thank you!
would the EV800D goggles work with a tinyhawk 3 i need to know
I have the fat shark scouts and love them except the range isn’t the best
owing ev800dm and very happy with it
which goggles that are compatable with the mini 3...
I need a kick ass quality receiver with model switching i'd use gaming googles they can do 4k HDR
