Thanx for this great review! Do you have access to the FatShark Recon HD Walksnail goggles and could you do a comparison with the Avatar Goggles L ? They seem to be very similar, as far as I know with basically these differences: - The Recon HD have an external video output, the Avatar don't. - The Recon HD can be used with optical correction glasses, the Avatar is too narrow for that. - The Recon HD have an FOV of 44°, the Avatar 75° - is this like comparison between a home tv screen and imax cinema? And what else differences are there? Is there a difference in visual quality, etc...?
Man this could the thing that finally gets me into FPV. I've been sitting on the wall forever, my one burning question is : Can you wear these with glasses?
These sound great but it seems everyone has overlooked the Fatshark Recon HDs. Only a little more expensive, but a few extra good features like HDMI out.
i missed the one on the goggle vid for 2024, just saw that one. I saw some on the drone stop video redcat thingy too. sorry I didnt reply in that one. the comments on that entire video were a little heated. cheers for being here though, appreciate it mate. hows the orcas going?

Im at 2 minutes now and you showed off the gogles, And 200 usd new does seem reasonable that would be like 50/100 bucks used I just hope they are also going to get cheaper camera's as digital cameras are also verry expensive
I'm far too invested in DJI now to justify moving to a competitor's system. If I was just starting in the hobby, I'd be buying these straight out though. Also, the VTX recording quality is a bit blurred out, even though it's meant to be 1080p. Compression artifacts, etc. What are the standard and max bitrates of that Walksnail system? It looks like DJI at 720p set to 25mbit. Minor complaint though.
yeah its hard to change systems once you are invested. i wouldnt swap either if I already spent cash on another system. But this is a great system and an ever better price for a new pilot
If these had analog input, they would be an incredible steal. The lack of analog really hurts though. I guess there are 1s whoop boards, but analog would be nice
Hi Stew, Great video and review for the Caddx Avatar walksnail box googles. Headtracker is a blast to use with fix-wing and wings. As Great as they are, I'm going with the walksnail module for I can use with a ground station. Thanks again for the video and info on the new walksnail googles.
What VTX and camera were you using in the video? I'm planning to get the goggles L and Avatar HD V2. Will the video quality on the goggles be similar during daylight?
There aren't really any BnF walksnail whoops, but with the newest version of the 1s lite, you can make a 65mm whoop easily only at 20ish grams. If you do a lot of trimming and some ingenuity, I've seen builds down to 17g-18g.
Well there's a couple of countries flying quads and possibly planes that might benefit from head tracking, or at least that's what the cynic in me sees. Right now they fly FPV, but imagine being able to look left and right to spot things of more interest while flying and at a price that is nice and cheap. The people that might bulk buy these are the same ones buying 2.5W and 10W analog vtx. ;)
Cheap goggles doesn't mean digital systems have become affordable. Goggles were always a one time buy sort of thing and the difference between analog and digital wasn't that huge, the problem is the vtx and camera systems you put on drones, which you often crash unless you fly like a geriatric super careful bloke and at the same time don't enjoy the hobby to the max. When I'll see a vtx and camera for less than $100 I'll get into digital, until then analog is the best option for me and for a lot of people that still fly analog
I was waiting for something like this do drop but honestly I would like to see different antenna options. Coming from someone that being flying analog exclusively, how relevant is circular and directional antennas for digital fpv? From what I saw these goggles come with a dual directional setup
@@UAVfutures Yes! I have just never been able to justify investing such an enormous amount of cash into switching to digital, this really brings into into the more affordable range for me, and I am sure for a lot of others as well :-) Most embarrassingly, both my mate and I are still using our very first goggle purchases from years ago when we started ... remember the Quantum Cyclops V2??? lolololol Now just to convince our wives that 'the time has come' LOL
They're box googles so if your frames are small enough you may be able to use them as is but if not the tech specs say: "The detachable lens desgins supports various vision needs, allowing for the installation of near-sighted, far-sighted or blue light blocking lenses..."
Hey! Will you review the ymzfpv Lighting 2? I know you liked the 1 so much and sadly its out of stock and I wanted to buy one. But maybe the new one is even better?
@@UAVfutures That's OK. I would still need to buy the camera and vtx. I haven't the cash for that currently. However it does look an impressive goggle for the money. 👍
Hello, nice video! I want to switch from my analogue FPV to the digital system. My budget is relatively low and is around 300 to 350 euros. I would buy these glasses because I want to mount them on my RC plane, but I don't know which camera I should buy with them so that I don't have to pay more than 350 euros. However, it should be a good quality camera. Can you help me with which camera system I should buy with these goggles?
So my question mate is looks like a good starter kit in my opinion i am looking myself at getting a set because i still have analog lol but can these goggles be paired to any of the walksnail vtx IE moonlight kit im interested in getting both these goggles and the moonlight kit because of 4k resolution would look amazing and 4ks range could uou maybe do a complete range test with on screen display of how far it will actually go just curious because i have had many different analog systems and all claim to go 5 or more ks but can never get it myself any information for it would be great
The googles are not the problem, IMHO. It's the parts you put on a quad and risk damaging in every flight. I started 2 months ago with analog because I was able to buy Caddx Ratel 2 + AKK 800 mW VTX for $40 during a sale. Already gone through 2 x Rush Cherry antennas. Also I just got HGLRC Draknight for a price of the Walksnail Avatar Kit. ($100). Maybe I'll try walksnail on my sub 250 4 inch long range quad, because it weighs less than a thumb cam...
been flying for 8yrs and I've broken less in fact hardly anything at all ever since I switched to walksnail. Flying analog was always a gamble, wait weeks because of weather and other factors only to crash and break a frame or cam or motor.... but was a good learning experince, albeit an expensive one...
I dont think its misleading but yes digital does cost more in the vtx side of things, BUT its the antenna, air unit and camera, you could easily spend that on an analog vtx, camera and antenna
@@UAVfutures I have tons of quads with analogue fpv on, most complete all in ones cost £10 to £15 so it is a big difference still. Defo going in the right direction though, I dont race other people but I do fly fast and low through tiny gaps etc making my own race tracks in affect and like a low latency that analogue gives me, never tried digital but from what ive seen the latency is an issue for this sort of flying?
great question. So all digital systems need an reciever and a transmitter. we call the transmitter either the VTX for video transmitter or airunit. The RX or reciever is basically whats built into the goggles we wear. all the digital systems need their own system to intergrate with, no mix and match. This specific system is the walksnal avatar system. So the drone has its own walksnail airunit that only walksnail goggles can decode and recieve. does that make sense?
ok - I tried reading all the comments but gave up - so at the risk of it already being asked... what vtx/camera would you recommend to go with this? And - Glasses? Does it still work? Thanks!!
Do u think these will pair well with the radio master tx16s mark 11 radio ??? I'm trying to enter fpv and it's kinda confusing but I bought my radio first n I figured my goggles next then my drone can u plz let me know tho if them two will work together
The quadcopter is transmitting on an open channel, you can only connect one for two-way communication but you can connect an arbitrary number of devices for receive-only.
its wireless. SO the main recieving headset passes the image onto the ride along set. and im not 100% sure this, BUT from what i have heard. IF you start loosing signal etc, the main goggles will stop trying to "broadcast" etc and focus everythingon getting your signal back to the main pilot if your drone is about to be lost etc.
Great video. Can any one tell me my Hudson h501s drone would I get the same read out on FPV googles as I do on my screen on the radio control so every single thing on my radio control screen the same on googles. Thanks

Do you have access to the FatShark Recon HD Walksnail goggles and could you do a comparison with the Avatar Goggles L ?
They seem to be very similar, as far as I know with basically these differences:
- The Recon HD have an external video output, the Avatar don't.
I've been sitting on the wall forever, my one burning question is : Can you wear these with glasses?
im going to say no. Like ill try cram some in there, but i think there is not enough room. what about contacts? not the best solution but something
These sound great but it seems everyone has overlooked the Fatshark Recon HDs. Only a little more expensive, but a few extra good features like HDMI out.
What drone did you use in this video? I would like to have a digital kit because I love the realism!
hell yeah
sounds awesome to me and dvr looked amazing
G'day nice video mate have you read so of my comments on your other videos
i missed the one on the goggle vid for 2024, just saw that one. I saw some on the drone stop video redcat thingy too. sorry I didnt reply in that one. the comments on that entire video were a little heated. cheers for being here though, appreciate it mate. hows the orcas going?
@@UAVfutures no worries mate would like help with setting up a viewing station for non fpv people to see what is going on from pilots view just a suggestion for future video mate
@@crunchied8 you want help on setting one up etc? did you want it to a tv , or goggles etc? let me know?
@@UAVfutures i am thinking both
another win for Walksnail
I like their products just need more updates and big fixes from them. Do you fly walksnail?
Im at 2 minutes now and you showed off the gogles,
And 200 usd new does seem reasonable that would be like 50/100 bucks used
I just hope they are also going to get cheaper camera's as digital cameras are also verry expensive
It's definitely a step in the right direction.👍
If these had analog input, they would be an incredible steal.
The lack of analog really hurts though. I guess there are 1s whoop boards, but analog would be nice
imagine if they also had HDMI in as well lol
@@UAVfutures i'd immediately sell my CobraX goggles and buy these instead
Hi Stew, Great video and review for the Caddx Avatar walksnail box googles. Headtracker is a blast to use with fix-wing and wings. As Great as they are, I'm going with the walksnail module for I can use with a ground station. Thanks again for the video and info on the new walksnail googles.
Cheers brother. And thanks for being in the live stream
Can you do a range test video?
I'll try do a follow up soon
Hi, are these goggles a better experience than say putting the walksnail vrx on my hdzero goggles?. Which one would be best
6:56 Did you use the Moonlight System for the video?
My bad. I watched further and you said moonlight. Sorry 😅
yep, but I also showed a 1s kit at the first part flying around my house with the family. I think its at the start some where
What VTX and camera were you using in the video? I'm planning to get the goggles L and Avatar HD V2. Will the video quality on the goggles be similar during daylight?
There aren't really any BnF walksnail whoops, but with the newest version of the 1s lite, you can make a 65mm whoop easily only at 20ish grams. If you do a lot of trimming and some ingenuity, I've seen builds down to 17g-18g.
Digital builds down to that much?
I"m surprised they would include headtracking gyros in an entry level set of goggles, pretty interesting.
I know right. I would have preferred analog in but not sure. Have you used head tracking and fpv
Head tracking is about to get real big in RC planes. I think that's why?
When I'll see a vtx and camera for less than $100 I'll get into digital, until then analog is the best option for me and for a lot of people that still fly analog
that shirt is epic!
the hellfire one?
the yellow hawaiian!
I was waiting for something like this do drop but honestly I would like to see different antenna options. Coming from someone that being flying analog exclusively, how relevant is circular and directional antennas for digital fpv?
From what I saw these goggles come with a dual directional setup
This is AWESOME news :-) Thank you
my pleasure. you going to jump in to digital?
@@UAVfutures Yes! I have just never been able to justify investing such an enormous amount of cash into switching to digital, this really brings into into the more affordable range for me, and I am sure for a lot of others as well :-) Most embarrassingly, both my mate and I are still using our very first goggle purchases from years ago when we started ... remember the Quantum Cyclops V2??? lolololol Now just to convince our wives that 'the time has come' LOL
Decided to jump on these. Fingers crossed
When they turn up you are going to have a blast. Did you get an air unit?
@@UAVfutures I had already ordered the walksnail avatar HD pro kit and was holding out to buy the goggles x because I couldn't stomach the price tag.
What are the camera accessories they offer with the goggles?
Is the recorded video from the goggle or from the onboard sd? Did you experience any stutter with that refresh rate?
How do you connect the goggles to the drone?
Vs the ev800d, how was the perceived screen size? Larger.. smaller??
Do these goggles work with eye glasses on?
Is there an option for internal prescription lens inserts or are these only for people without glasses?
They're box googles so if your frames are small enough you may be able to use them as is but if not the tech specs say:
"The detachable lens desgins supports various vision needs, allowing for the installation of near-sighted, far-sighted or blue light blocking lenses..."
Hey! Will you review the ymzfpv Lighting 2? I know you liked the 1 so much and sadly its out of stock and I wanted to buy one. But maybe the new one is even better?
Stay tuned for tomorrows video... Did you fly one?
@@UAVfutures Yeeees I am looking forward to the Vid. No not yet
what are they like as a second pair for someone else to fly along with your flight on your main goggles, do they hook up as well as the goggle x ?
I have HDZero on my Fatsharks!
Maybe a comparison with the fatshark recon HD which look the same but more expensive and no head tracker. I have those and I am very happy with.
if you had those, I dont think you need to switch. save the $$
I bought the Walksnail camera and vtx. Not sure wether to get these or the Fatshark recon HD ?
Eyes glasses work well with these goggles?
I did a little bit of Google research on this... There apparently is a detachable prescription Glass lens product, etc
Is there any way these can be used with a Mavic Air 2?
Would you invest in these or higher end if you plan to spend any real time flying fpv.
If I were upgrading an analog quad, what hardware should I look at to go with this?
Thanks Stew, I bought a pair of Skyzone analogy goggles 2 days ago.🤬
I was under NDA sorry. I couldn't share any info... Can you return them?
@@UAVfutures That's OK. I would still need to buy the camera and vtx. I haven't the cash for that currently.
However it does look an impressive goggle for the money. 👍
Will it work with the Potensic Atom drone
Not bad. Getting a top of the line digital system for less then 300 to 350$
You talking aud or USD?
So, 200 for the goggles? And what drones are compatible?😊
What kind of drone can you use the googles with?
If these had HDMI input I'd have bought them. As a beginner I want goggles I can plug into the simulator... So close!
And which battery makes the goggles work?
So my question mate is looks like a good starter kit in my opinion i am looking myself at getting a set because i still have analog lol but can these goggles be paired to any of the walksnail vtx IE moonlight kit im interested in getting both these goggles and the moonlight kit because of 4k resolution would look amazing and 4ks range could uou maybe do a complete range test with on screen display of how far it will actually go just curious because i have had many different analog systems and all claim to go 5 or more ks but can never get it myself any information for it would be great
Is this working with Air75 Brushless Whoop Quadcopter? Thank you
The googles are not the problem, IMHO.
Are you crashing a lot?
@@UAVfutures Bardwell says if you're not crashing you're not pushing yourself hard enough ;-)
max distance this goggles l can go? 1 or 2km? or below 1km?
tech specs list >4km
Range test range test range test 🙏
Looks like a good set of googles. I think it’s a little misleading to call it “cheap digital” when the vtxs are over $100.
That's cheap, the DJI vtx is like $230
@@wesmagyarbut analog is $15
I dont think its misleading but yes digital does cost more in the vtx side of things, BUT its the antenna, air unit and camera, you could easily spend that on an analog vtx, camera and antenna
@@UAVfutures I have tons of quads with analogue fpv on, most complete all in ones cost £10 to £15 so it is a big difference still.
Defo going in the right direction though, I dont race other people but I do fly fast and low through tiny gaps etc making my own race tracks in affect and like a low latency that analogue gives me,
never tried digital but from what ive seen the latency is an issue for this sort of flying?
Do you have any Optical correction devices
So this is just for the goggles? What about the digital camera for the feed you need to see it in digital? Or does it turn analog to digital?
great question.
Can a monitor be used, in place of goggles?
ok - I tried reading all the comments but gave up - so at the risk of it already being asked... what vtx/camera would you recommend to go with this? And - Glasses? Does it still work? Thanks!!
What became of Grumpy Trev , Stew ?😮
Thanks for stopping back by. He lives 1500 miles away. I moved states
@@UAVfutures, I had him in thoughts and was wondering if he's alright , Okay , I understanding !
So, I guess there is no HDMI or other input to view a feed from another video receiver. Is that correct?
funciona no dji mini 2 ?
Do u think these will pair well with the radio master tx16s mark 11 radio ??? I'm trying to enter fpv and it's kinda confusing but I bought my radio first n I figured my goggles next then my drone can u plz let me know tho if them two will work together
are these just the same as the fatshark walksnail box goggles?
I havent reviewed them but I would say no. walksnail system but the form and function of these I would guess is a lot lot better.
How does "ride along" work? Do you have to connect them via HDMI to the Goggles X?
Thanks
Is there anyway to use an analog vtx with this goggle?
Here in the nanny state known as Australia, isn't FPV basically illegal now?
Did we see the exact same picture that you did in the googles when flying because I did not see any static at all ??????????
yeah i know right. thats why I was amazed at the range I was getting with zero loss. those flights you see with me and steve talking etc ARE THE EXACT images and dvr we saw while flying. INSANE
