Duffy was 12 when he, his dad and I shared a loft in Freeport, Long Island, NY. I was Chubby's vibes player at the time. We lived together, and so played any hour day or night, and Duffy was a cookin' drummer back then! I'll be 93 April 1st, and miss 'em all!
Harry Sheppard, if you see this I was wondering if you knew Jimmy Rowles on piano? He was my grandfather.
We lost Duffy within the last day or two. RIP
Wicked jazz. With amazing vocals.
Bucky was the Best🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Oh those late summer nights under the olive trees or in the Roman arena. Great memories for me from 1980 for 15 years.
Thank you posting. Enjoying this so much. Great jazz outdoor live with the greats. 👍🏼❤️👏
Thanks. Feels like I was there! Keep them coming! Norman Vickers, Jazz Pensacola
43:11 Slam's solo, which mirrors his solo with Lester Young in 1943

What guitar is Bucky playing?
Benedetto 7-string with nylon tape wound strings.
@@bigbud144 Do you mean that the nylon string had wounded in a metal envelope ?
@@taf44tt8io 3rd through 7th strings are a stainless steel round wound string covered with a black nylon tape outer wrap.
@@bigbud144 Thank you
Great jazz, few good players left. Lots of new players, some very good. You need experience to play real jazz. This is an amazing combination of great players!
Jimmy Rowles does absolutely nothing for me, while the rest of the personnel are stellar. Duffy I didn't know, be he's on it every step of the way.
This was the slimmest I ever saw Duffy!
