Two of the greatest jazz musicians ever (3 if you count Bucky). One was a raving egotistical madman and the other one of the most humble, down to earth fellows you'd ever meet. I got a chance to hear and meet Benny Goodman back in the late seventies. He was like the grandfather we all wanted. And just an amazing player.
Unfortunately Buddy missed the cue to end "I got rythm" properly. Honestly you could see it coming from miles away and if you knew Benny (and as a jazz musician himself he obviously did) you knew he liked to end songs in only two measures. But I guess he wanted to show off and the ending just turned out to be kind of a train wreck. Jimmie knew what to do as you can hear quite clearly he was also going for closure. But Buddy ruined the whole thing.
Absolutely marvellous Benny Goodman was like fine wine he got better and better with age.
so nice to hear buddy playing brushes!
Fantastic !!!
Buddy is in seventh heaven and Benny sure is egging him on towards the end - simply magical!
Possibly my favorite "I got rhythm". Stellar!
