Hello, you need to have the Node Wrangler Add-On enabled (preferences, add-ons, search for Node Wrangler), and with the texture node selected, hold Ctrl + T at the same time.
Thanks, this was very helpful for me. Trying to figure out how to apply a bevel with more than two segments without it distorting the vertex groups for the spike particle system.
I'm glad the video was helpful. I'm not sure how the bevel distorts the vertex groups but, if you'd like, you can send the file and a more detailed description of your problem to blendiniyt@gmail.com and I'll be happy to help you out.
Great tutorial. Thank you. Question. What would be the reason for some of the spine bundles not all rotating out? Some are turned to face the ones that are pointing in the correct direction.
The only reason I can think of would be if some of the normals are flipped. If that's the issue, you can correct it by going to Mesh > Normals > Recaulculate Outside (Shift N). Hope this helps!
@@Blendini Sorry for for the late reply, busy making cacti. Thank you for responding. I got it figured out, just simple rotation. Still learning. Another request. How would you render this out. I did it as an fbx file and put it in Davinci Resolve. Well, I have 4000 pricklys and that doesnt work. So, how do you format this out for use in a scene?
@@mattl5402 That's a good question, I've only rendered still images right in Blender. It's possible to make the spines with less geometry, which might help. Otherwise, geometry nodes might do the trick. I am working on a cactus tutorial with geometry nodes now-- it may take a week or two to finish and post.
i have a question regarding how to snap the cactus needles to the x-axis where they will be lined up in circular position in the video number 10:35. I watched the video numerus times and still is having problems.
Once you've grabbed in object or mesh in blender (clicking G on your keyboard) , you can move it freely with in the viewport. If you right-click, you will release the object. Before releasing the object, you can hit X, Y, or Z on your keyboard to snap the object to the X, Y, or Z axis, respectively. I hope that helps!
With your cursor in the 3D viewport area, hold Shift and hit the S key. This will bring up the Snap selection wheel. The same options are available in the Snap Menu under the Object Menu ( Object > Snap )
I don't know if you are still responding comments but your tutorial was great but I think i might have done something wrong. I followed the tutorial to the letter (except for the plane and got my own HDRI) but my cactus looks funny. I'd post a pic if I could. Do you think you might be able to point me in the right direction?
Hi, Thanks for watching the tutorial. How can I help? If you'd like to send an email, you can find my email address listed on this channel's About page.
I’ve run into the problem that I can’t see the color of the cactus. I did everything verbatim but I’m still unable to see in on the actual model. What should I do?
Without seeing your model I can think of a couple of things to try-- 1) Make sure your Viewport Shading mode is set to Material. 2) In the node shader, make sure the principled shader is selected as the node to view on the model. To do this, hold Ctrl and Shift at the same time, and click on the Principled Shader. Let me know if you're still having issues.
Thanks for the feedback. I am working on getting better with that. If there's anything unclear, or a specific function you need the keys for, just ask.
Hello, this is a bit of an advanced process especially if you are very new to Blender. But it was also my first tutorial, so it is definitely lacking in some ways. Let me know how I can help! If you're patient with my replies, I'll be happy to walk you through it.
9:18 it's Ctrl + T for anyone that can't figure it out!
This didnt work for me either

OMG I was searching for that specific cactus, thank you very much
Glad I could help!
You're an excellent teacher.
Damn now that was a in-depth tutorial done right! Thanks mate, it saved my ass!
Used this to make a high poly version with some tweaks, really great worflow you got going in your modeling!
Cool, thank you!

When i click on Hair, on the particles tab, the white lines doesn't appear to me :(
This may be related to the scale of your model. Have you applied transformations (specifically scale)?
@@Blendini I figured out! Was the boolean modifier of the inner edges across the cactus
Awesome tutorial btw
@@dalr5346 thank you, I'm glad you got it sorted out!
I'm having the same problem, how did you solve it?
@@erickortiz5625 have you tried adjusting or removing the Boolean modifier? Also make sure the scale transformation has been applied.
you should explain better , i mean the keys that you press etc dislike

This is too much for beginners like me..I hate this video somewhat...feel like giving up but who would cares!!!
