    My wife and I have been together for fifty years and I’ve always owned bikes. My Burgman 200 is the only scooter I’ve ever had and it’s the only two wheeler I’ve owned that she’s ever asked to go out on for a second time! They are surprisingly enjoyable to ride, comfortable for the passenger (!) and really very practical.

    Mine did great on the interstate after I got used to being blown around. After 100 miles of practice it handled medium traffic like a boss.

    I have a 2020 Bergman 200 in Florida. I avg 70mpg but I prefer this ride over my R6, FZ-07 or z125. Easy to ride, very nimble, quick in city traffic and tons of storage not to mention great gas mileage. Btw, im 205 pounds and it’ll go 75mph easy with me on it.

    I bought one of these last year, have been commuting (~40 miles round trip per day) whenever the weather is nice and I love it. Smooth ride, I generally stay off the interstate and beltway (I-95 and I-495) because people drive crazy, but ride on 2-3 lane highways where the speed limit is 55-65 and I have no trouble keeping up with traffic (215-pound rider). I love the automatic transmission, don’t have to worry about carpal tunnel in my hands with having to clutch all the time. Definitely agree that the glove boxes are great for my cellphone and other things, keep my riding gear and helmet in the trunk under the seat. He’s right that mileage gets better when it’s warm, I’m up to 85 mpg right now.

    It's been unusually hard to find an American that'll tell ya what the top speed is. THANK YOU. Other websites give a wild top speed range from 65-79 & I knew those weren't right

    I commute every day on this same bike and have just turned 4000 mi. My thoughts:
    --it's so much more fun and pleasant to ride without the silly windscreen
    --I've tried all grades of fuel and can't tell the diff, so I just get the cheapest gas
    --I'm much happier, overall, after downsizing from larger bikes to this 200. Navigating the suburbs and city is a pleasure on a lightweight and nimble bike. My last couple bikes were a big Ducati and a big Moto Guzzi,..I don't miss them a bit.

      I agree, amazing machine, I’m short so the windshield is fine for me now that I’ve added the small lip screen too it, mpg’s are great, tires are not very expensive, my pilot pure sc I put on the rear has already outlasted the stock rear tire and barely looks worn at all. Great storage, adequate power. Hard for me to find any “real” short comings with this scooter. I’ll be doing a little review on the pilot pure tires in the next few days so subscribe so you don’t miss it 👍

      Nice info buddy ... nimble riding in city streets with large cargo capacity under the seat for groceries and deliverables is what I need. I think tomorrow I'm pulling the trigger on a lightly used 1,500 miles on odometer 2020 Burgman 200cc ... looking forward to riding it in SF and suburbs of Silicon Valley. I'm not rich like the techies all around me so I like the affordability of it too. Ride safe ya'll.

    The warmer climate keeps the engine warmer which will improve mpg. It's not because of oil temperature, its because of engine block temperature.

    All engines get better mileage in the summer. The hotter they run, the better the mileage. Not an oil viscosity thing, though that helps too. The hotter the combustion, the more energy. Energy=heat. This is why the OEM's are going for higher and higher thermostat temp.

    These scooters and maxi scooters are truly awsome, I have a Burgman 400 and a Honda Helix (250) I also have 3 Vtwin motorcycles and as said before in the comments you will find motorcycle riders expecially when they get older, loving these scooters and not riding their other bikes as much, they are quick, nimble and much easier to ride and FUN, I think that the smaller ones 50cc are too dangerous in traffic as they just cant keep up, I do like speed and think that the larger maxi scooters are just right perhaps 200cc and above, I think if someone is doing more highway riding than town riding I would go 400cc and above, my burg 400 will do 60 - 70MPH with ease like its nothing and maxs out at about 95, I will add that I think its very important to service your bike correctly and get really good tires and always maintain proper PSI,,,,ALSO the Burgman speedometer is about 3 -5MPH generous

  • @darcychu9652

    To keep your cars/bikes fuel saving, always watch the tachy meter to keep rpm low. This is the only way to save gas.

    Engine temp is thermostat regulated but gasoline mix changes to winter mix vs summer mix and that is likely making your difference.

  • @tstartrekdude

    The air is actually appreciably denser when it is cold out so the lower MPG is probably just from the greater air resistance.

    • @DirtRider22a
      @DirtRider22a  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I never considered that, I always consider colder air to help the engine perform better but didn’t think about the extra air resistance 👍

    • @mindspinn311
      @mindspinn311 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Also, colder and denser air means more fuel to keep the same air:fuel ratio. Basically the less dense and warmer summer air leans out the mix. I mean, it sounds good in theory anyway. Humidity could also be a factor.

    • @JakeJarmel
      @JakeJarmel 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hot air in the summer could also help keeping wheel bearings warmer than in cold air months. I have tested coasting my standard tranny Toyota Corolla in neutral down a hill on an interstate from the same 65mph start speed at the top. I drift farther before dropping below 60mph and gain speed above 65pmh more in the summer than in winter.

    I'm buying a 2020 Burgman 200 tomorrow most likely ... my question is: what is the best (largest) rear cargo rack and enclosure I can put on it by the dealer that I am buying it from. Interested in your opinion about aftermarket rear cargo rack you guys recommend for groceries and restaurant delivery side hustle. (EDIT 10 Oct 2023 - Bought the 2020 used 200 cc. But returned it for a new 400 cc after riding the 200 home 30 miles at 75 mph cruising speed. I didn't feel comfortable cruising at 7,500-8,500 RPM not giving me any room to accelerate out of a tight spot in traffic. Two days later the dealer worked with me to accept the 200 cc back with no depreciation for the 60 miles I put on it to allow me to buy the 400 cc newer model.)
