    I still have my original Gamma SV from 2006 going strong. I sent it back and they sewed a new hem into it after it wore out. Yes Arcteryx is expensive but the lifespan of the products is amazing.
    I may also have a problem, I have all the Betas, all the Atoms, and a bunch of fleece pieces. They continually improve every design each year. Even the Atom LT has been dialed in and adjusted to utter perfection.

      Agreed. Most people just look at the price tag, and forget the saying "You get what you pay for"

      @@meandmyjackets I like your channel because I can show my wife “see I don’t have that many jackets!”
      You know you have a problem when you buy the same jacket in multiple colors. That’s the tipping point.

    They idea to wearing the insulation layer on top I believe is when you change form high output activity to being static in camp - than you simply pull out your insulation layer and wear it on top of all other things when being static. I think its caled „Belay-Layer“ then

      Yes, check out my videos on the Nuclei SV. Not all jackets are sized big enough to wear over all other layers.

    Thanks. You videos are amazing. I have a question: if I wear a base layer, a fleece and a lightweight breathable insulation layer (that activates when I stay active) while hiking in winter time, what would you suggest to wear to keep myself warm when I stop for a long time to take pictures? Hardshell?

    • @meandmyjackets
      @meandmyjackets  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi, thanks for the support! To answer your question, I guess it would depend on the temperature. I would say that a hardshell is not really your answer, as it is not insulated, and really won't make you warmer. Its purpose is to block the wind and keep you dry from rain.
      I would suggest something like the Thorium AR. It's warm, durable and is a regular fit so it has some room to layer under it. It also packs down into a small stuff sack to carry in your backpack. Another idea is the Nuclei FL. Light weight and very warm. If you may need something heavier, than The Nuclei SV, or Alpha Parka. The Therme jacket is great too, it has lots of room in it for multiple or heavier layers. Also it's made with a goretex face fabric which is wind and waterproof. It's downside is the fact that its not very compact and packable.

      @@meandmyjackets Thanks a lot for replying. Nuclei FL seems a very good trade off. I think I am gonna go with that one on top of my lightweight insulation layer!!

      @@antonellogreco7904 The Nuclei FL is a great jacket. It's one of my favorites. Not very breathable at all, but because of that it's very warm, light weight, and awesome when it comes to blocking the wind.

    You usually wear a insulation layer over the softshell/hardshell when you are hiking uphill, or doing other mountain sports. The first thing you encounter is wind/precipitation, and the coldest is at the top, so you put the layers in the order that you need them.

      That makes sense. Thank you. It seems that the possible combinations are endless. :)

    It's comforting to know that I am not the only one with a serious addiction to arc'teryx. Buying another shell jacket a size down to accommodate rain during the summer but with a better fit is exactly the behavior of an arc'teryx addict. We can't help that we want perfection. I have almost every color Atom LT just so I can match my outfits better. I mean it's a sickness but what can I say I love it. Patagonia and other brands are "cute" but for the most part are unacceptable. North Face is pure garbage and is not allowed anywhere near my body or my family members. Even got my dad decked out in arc'teryx now all the way up to the alpha SV. Thanks for the video!

      I have never been disappointed with any jacket that I have purchased from Arc'teryx. They are all different in their own way, and really nicely built. They are expensive, but the quality is there, and I know that I'll have them for a long time. I feel that there are worse things that I could be spending money on.

    What are your thoughts about layering a non-hooded jacket on top of a hooded insulation? I am looking at purchasing Gamma SL but cannot decide which one I should get between a hoody and a jacket in terms of layering.

    • @meandmyjackets
      @meandmyjackets  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I like doing that, one of my favorite combinations in winter is the Atom LT hoody under the Gamma MX jacket (with no hood). But, I would say to get the hooded version of the Gamma SL. It's a light weight jacket that is more versatile with the hood. In my opinion. Plus the hood is really light weight, (not a big helmet compatible hood), and I have not had a problem wearing it in top of another hooded jacket like an Atom or Proton. The hooded version is also nice stand alone in warmer days, and having the hood is nice if you need it.

    Hi Chris! I love their products too. Your collection of Arc'teryx jackets looks awesome! Question for u though :
    Do you find the flaps that protect your neck once fully zipped, hanging around or flapping a lot, standing weirdly and bothering a bit once you zip your Thorium at upper chest levels? Do these bent over time with usage and sit sideways towards the shoulders??

    • @meandmyjackets
      @meandmyjackets  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      They do seem to stick up a bit. I do push them down. My cerium SL and SV don't seem to stick up quite as much. Perhaps it's due to the fact that the face fabric is heavier than the other jackets. I'm not sure. It is nice when you zip it up fully.

      @meandmyjackets  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't have the Nuclei SV, but if it's the big brother of the Nuclei FL and it's very similar in it's wind blocking ability and just a lot heavier and warmer, then I'm sure it's awesome!
