    Very good introduction to freestyle. Please consider scaling up your Blender UI, though, so it's easier to read in the Video. :)

    Great tutorial. Great contribution. You have my like and my subscription. Thank you so much. Greetings

    Super nice. Is there a way to make the spatial noise modifier under geometry refresh? Much like adding noise to a grease pencil animation? I want it to look animated frame by frame as it were.

    Thanks for the tutorial, while very informative it was very hard following the moves you were making and the non explanations on some things make it very hard for someone new to follow along. Overall ok though.

    Another great tutorial , Paul thank you very much. You think that you could do a tutorial on how to use freestyle on characters? Specifically in the face area. It seems more difficult because the edges in the face are softer and the lines do not get clearly visible.

    i have multiple questions but first how does your render look like that mine just goes to an image in a different blender window without any tools

    • @PCaggegi
      @PCaggegi  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's a preference setting. Open your Preferences, go to "Interface" and under "temporary editors" select the option for "Render In". In my case, I selected "Image Editor".

    *_WOW!_* Thanks, Paul! So much great info. And it actually all made *_sense,_* even! ;) I just watched your video on getting Freestyle renders into an SVG Vector output; I'm guessing the stroke *_thickness_* set in Freestyle (from thick-to-thin within the same line) does _NOT_ render in the SVG--? Even so, *_both_* tutorials were great!

    Awesome topic, great tutorial. As a non-native speaker I especially appreciate your clear explanation. I used to play around with Freestyle in Blender 2.79 already, but since I switched to 3.x over 1 year ago I never really touched that feature again. I should really do it again. It's so awesome! Thank you for reminding me of how cool that feature can be.

    hay man i need help, how to just render the lineart and render the environment just by the color so i can paint them on photoshop?
    i see someone timelapse he can render just the lineart and color for making selection on photoshop to make them easier paint over too the scene
    thanks a lot if you want to make tutorial for that

  • @kevinhouse7143

    Thanks Paul. Really appreciate your legwork on this. Too bad there isn't a more user friendly approach to freestyle with some sort of preview thumbnail. It seems you need to really play around a lot to get expected results. Would love to see an "intersecting geometry" tick box in the edge types setup dialogue. It could be a bit of fiddling to get all the those edges to show in a complicated piece. It must be a tricky thing to code or it would have been in there by now.

    • @PCaggegi
      @PCaggegi  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yup - agree, it can be fiddly. The best way to get around that is to use create edges and edge marks, however an even better set up is to model the creases on the same mesh, and tinker with the angle settings. More advanced, but it does get results.

    Is there a way to take the light into account? Line artists will sometimes not draw any line that is pointed towards the light and only draw cavities or lines that are facing away from the light.
    etc.

  • @cesarcrash

    Alright, it worked with your model. But with mine, at the moment I connect Freestyle with image, on Composite I have a blank image.

  • @julianhartinger4449

    hey- thanks for the video- how can I add a freestyle line at objects where they intersect? Like Ambient Occlusion-also on the bottom of objects.- I need that to get a lineart for paintover.

    • @PCaggegi
      @PCaggegi  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Freestyle is notoriously bad at rendering where meshes intersect. It doesn't compute very well. Best you can do is either add an edge loop close to the intersection and mark it as a freestyle edge, or move the planes a bit apart so that freestyle can detect the edge.

    hey paul i am working on a short film and like you said the render does get stuck at 98 percent and it shows a render time of 48 minutes and i have large scene of a city. how can i reduce the render time to better support my projects needs and get faster renders to experiment with freestyle.????

    • @PCaggegi
      @PCaggegi  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Unfortunately it is difficult to speed up Freestyle renders. Your best approach might be to split up your scene into various passes (eg: back, mid and foreground) to composite together.

  • @ghua
    @ghua 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    You seem to know a lot about shaders etc, so I have a question: is there a way to bake what Blender displays in editor window into the texture?
    for example MatCap with cavities on?

    • @PCaggegi
      @PCaggegi  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      While baking will work for various passes - color, AO, normal etc, I'm not sure mat cap with cavities is something that can be baked.

    I know in one of your previous tutorials, you drew a 2d car, using grease pencil, from a 3D model. Is it possible to show a tutorial on how to turn a 2d grease pencil drawing into a 3D model? I believe there is a feature were you can make grease pencil lines into mesh polygons.

    • @PCaggegi
      @PCaggegi  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      While it is possible, I wouldn't do it this way, as there is way too much cleaning up when it comes to retopology. It makes sense from one perspective, and by all means: if visualizing is easier this way, definitely try this.
