    Here is a good tip if you are new to this and you planning to use only freestyle render for comics you can save all these setting if you go into file>defaults (on the bottom)>save startup file and you click again on it to save it, this will save it as your main render settings when starting blender so you don't have to redo it over and over again and you can focus on the modeling or scene building

    Thanks for the tutorial! You're doing an outstanding job here! Everything worked out fine for me but ... in the last step there's light gray shadows on your pods. How do I get these? I just rendered a plane with outlines, details etc and it works great, yet the light gray shadows are missing. I would be really happy if someone could help me with this. Do these shadows also get exported to the SVG file then? I'm trying to create comic style planes for t-shirts out of 3D models. So I'd need a black and white model with outlines and single color light gray shadows. If I could dump this result directly into an svg it would be awesome and save me tons of time. Maybe Toonkit can export what I need? Would be so happy about some directions where to look or what to do.

    Maybe using texture from abr photoshop brushes ?
    For the render is it possible to render in a watercolor style (perhaps using watercolor texture) or at least more pastel style color ?

      @PCaggegi  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Maksim, do you mean your freestyle pass is not updating when you make a change, or that you don't see your freestyle lines at all? I am sorry, I cannot check your file. I get a lot of requests from people asking me to do this and I just physically cannot check everyone's file only to find out it was a small setting. If you're not seeing Freestyle at all (ie: your screen is black) go to your Render settings. Under "film" make sure you've ticked "transparent". I'll check to see if I can replicate this problem when I can - right now I am too busy with my kid's homeschooling and work deadlines.

    Hi Paul, I'm loving this plugin, but I don't understand how to link marked lines to different sets. For example, I have three objects in my blender. I want to mark freestyle edges of two objects to be in one lineset, and mark edges of the other one for lineset #2. But it doesn't matter what I try, it doesn't output the lines in the colors I'm asking. All it does is simply export all marked edges twice in the SVG file. Also, it doesn't use the colors I specify it to use in the settings. The preview does show the correct line colors, but the SVG doesn't. Any clues? I'm using Blender 2.91.

    • @PCaggegi
      @PCaggegi  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Freestyle works over the entire render. To achieve the desired effect you will have to split your composite over several view layers, aligning objects to different layers and adjust the individual freestyle effects for each render pass.

    • @MarinusMakesStuff
      @MarinusMakesStuff 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@PCaggegi Aha, I don't mind doing that, just don't know how. It's a bit confusing because I see a few explanations on the web explaining that it can be done without your solution, but maybe they are talking about PNG/JPEG export.. I'll try to find out if I can achieve what you are saying. Thanks for your time to reply. I'm making artworks with freestyle and love to work with the plugin. If I ever sell work I'd like to make a small donation if possible for the Freestyle extension. I understand it's your work. Do you have a donation button somewhere?

    Hi, Thanks for your tutorials. I don't seem to be able to get a flat white background in my render outputs, it's kinda like a dull grey - wheras in your tutorial's its a nice bright white. I've got my Compositor set in the exact same way as yours, I just cannot see what I'm doing wrong. Can you help me?

    • @PCaggegi
      @PCaggegi  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Are you only using the compositor? Blender tends to go a little grey and never seems to deliver 100% white for some reason. Which version of Blender are you using? 2.79 or 2.80? Have you downloaded the latest build? I'm going to look into the "Film" settings soon which might help brighten up these effects. In the meantime, you can add a Brightness/Contrast node. Usually the settings that best work are when your Contrast is set to double the Brightness (eg: Brightness=2 Contrast=4)

    Is Freestyle part of Blender, or a separate Addon? Is it free? Can you control the resolution to make it high enough for print, and antialiase the line?

    • @PCaggegi
      @PCaggegi  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes it is a part of Blender. Yes, it is free. Yes you can control the resolution high enough for print the same as you would with any render, since it is a post-effect. I'll go you one better: you can use the Freestyle to SVG add-on and save out a freestyle linepass as a scalable vector graphic.
