I think there's a couple things you missed: 1. Only Ranked for a long time: Why would you LAUNCH a game with only a hardcore, sweaty competitive mode?? It took them MONTHS to even add Casual Racing and even more time after that to actually make it the default when you launch the game. 2. Lack of other modes: It's just racing and speedruns against your ghost. The initial launch trailer literally showed items from Rocket League falling on the track (which isn't even something that can happen in game) so everyone expected some kinda Mario Kart-esque racer, why they still haven't added something like that (similar to how Rocket League has Rumble) is genuinely baffling. There was also leaks of a deathrace mode that just never came out, presumably scrapped cause the dwindling player base 3. Track Variety: It launched with basically every single track being the same desert-esque biome, it got boring seeing the same track style constantly and it took them a long time to add some other environment. And of course now with them winding down content updates, we will likely forever be stuck with not many different tracks since the only new "content" is basically them adding new cars, especially collabs. 4. The quests: Quests were really grindy, if you are a hardcore player playing constantly sure you might get them all done anyway but for casuals, especially people who simply want the rewards for other modes? They were way too much, LEGO and Festival didn't have anywhere near as intense requirements to complete their quests for their cosmetic rewards and often required less total quests to unlock stuff too (like Rocket Racing might have required you to get all 10 quests to unlock it all while the others often gave you some leeway of being able to skip a couple and still get all the items), I know many people that might have enjoyed some racing occasionally even if they say primarily played Festival but then when they decided "we are going to lock 10 Jam Tracks for Festival behind completing like 100 Rocket Racing quests you have to complete every single one" made them absolutely DESPISE the mode cause they were forced to do a hardcore grind just to unlock stuff for a different mode entirely.
Good points! I didn't want to be too harsh on the game since it is a free to play mode. So, that's why I didn't go into the other issues you mentioned, like track variety (Although I think the tracks are quite decent). But yes, I feel these are definitely important issues, especially at launch.

Don't worry, I wasn't implying that all racing games need the number of cars that Forza or Gran Turismo have. It's more so the selection has to be good, and in some cases, a good number of cars too. 4 - 5 in a game like this where A. Many haven't been transferred over from RL and B. They are all the same (expect for hitboxes), just isn't going to satisfy many...
If this was just a rocket league mode it would be so much better received. I have no interest in installing fortnite, especially just for a rocket league racing game.
I think altho game isnt shallow in gameplay - I really think is so bare that I not interesting in skill ceiling techniques because beyond ranked there nothing in it. I Dont think inclusion with Fortnite is bad and its just game doesnt give enough reason to come back to it after 20 minutes
Well they removed trading and that killed my daily motivation for Rocket League. Now I only play RL casually and will never buy or install anything from Epic ever again. 100% lifetime boycot, except they bring back trading. Imagine CS removing trading, lol, it's unimaginable and that's what went wrong. Fck Epic 💯
Neither did it make sense to add a rhythm and an open world survival mode in a third person shooter. But hey, here we are now Oh, and im pretty sure I pissed off a bunch of morons in the Reddit community by being so insistent that Rocket Racing should’ve been in Rocket League, not Fortnite. One scrub even blocked me for bringing it up lmao.
As a unreal player who has continuosly played since launch, your argument about the game being buggy is flawed. If we're purely just talking about the game at launch then yes i agree with you, but nowadays where their are VERY few buggy tracks (like 3-4 off the top of my head), a lot of what people would call bugs are just actually bad gameplay. For example, at 4:30 you flip to a wall you had no reason flipping to. 5:07 on Tilted Turnpike you flipped to the wall too early also causing a crash. And while it is your fault, Epic/Psyonix could have done a better way of showing it was your fault. Also You didn't mention this but, Fortnite's player numbers revolve around XP. I'd say 60% of the people playing LEGO and Festival are only there because Epic incentivized it by giving exponential amounts of XP just by playing for like 3-4 hours. As a example, I played roughly 4.5 hours of lego yesterday and gained 11 levels to use in the battle pass, I played the same amount of time in a session to get to unreal in Rocket Racing and gained a max of like 5.5 levels. There is litterally no reason for the fortnite audience to actually give it a chance because their time could be better spent in the two other modes. Sorry for the rant, but a lot of criticism for the game, especially on twitter, is done through bad faith. It really is a great game but all of the cool mechanics, better tracks, and stuff are locked behind a big skill ceiling that not many Fortnite players are willing to reach.
Regarding the bugs, that's why I called the section 'Unpolished'. For 4:30, I did realize flipping to the wall was my fault. I put in the clip in because of how I died once I landed (since it didn't seem like I even hit the wall yet nor at an angle that should have killed me). For 5:07, it looks like I could have made it, but I didn't. Just like you said though, it's not really clear at all. Aspects like this are why I argue that despite all the bug fixes, the game still feels unrefined and unpolished. I also don't play Fortnite other than for Rocket Racing, so I wasn't aware of the XP stuff. That is great to know!
Rocket Racing looks and sounds like a mini-game you play, while the actual game is loading.

It's more so the selection has to be good, and in some cases, a good number of cars too. 4 - 5 in a game like this where A. Many haven't been transferred over from RL and B. They are all the same (expect for hitboxes), just isn't going to satisfy many...
Shoulda had an attack mode like m@riokart people woulda went crazy
If this was just a rocket league mode it would be so much better received. I have no interest in installing fortnite, especially just for a rocket league racing game.
I think altho game isnt shallow in gameplay - I really think is so bare that I not interesting in skill ceiling techniques because beyond ranked there nothing in it. I Dont think inclusion with Fortnite is bad and its just game doesnt give enough reason to come back to it after 20 minutes
Sadly, Rocket Racing being a Fortnite gamemode is even worse than Disney Speedstorm.
A bit off topic but you gotta check out Fatal Run 2089 trailer
I've seen the trailer, and it looks rather interesting!
@@GamerAlexVideos ikr seems like there's still hope for combat racing
Well they removed trading and that killed my daily motivation for Rocket League.
Now I only play RL casually and will never buy or install anything from Epic ever again. 100% lifetime boycot, except they bring back trading.
Imagine CS removing trading, lol, it's unimaginable and that's what went wrong. Fck Epic 💯
Ur just buns at racing bro ngl. But imma like ur vid bc I see wym
Its shartnight thats where it went wrong
Neither did it make sense to add a rhythm and an open world survival mode in a third person shooter. But hey, here we are now
Oh, and im pretty sure I pissed off a bunch of morons in the Reddit community by being so insistent that Rocket Racing should’ve been in Rocket League, not Fortnite. One scrub even blocked me for bringing it up lmao.
it was just a 10yo fanboy. Don't worry.
i didn't know Rocket Racing existed
This game looks like a cheap version of Distance. And that was an indie game.
distance has no racing. just driving on a track alone. boring.
@@NikosM112 I'm sorry? It does have racing.
@@VitaliyMilonov pvp first to the finish wins racing? no. So it's boring and overrated
@@NikosM112 Don't waste my time if you have no idea what I'm talking about. 🤦♀️
@@VitaliyMilonov It's an overrated game.

Easy, it was part of Fortnite
Epic really thinks we’re on Fortnite for their sad app store…
Everything
Sooo everything, got it ...wow this x mil cash cow and they just totaly not care. 7-10 ppl project ?? what LMAO.
It's like Epic Games didn't care from the start having such a small number of people on the project.
3:20
Vehicle classes would be hard to implement without making it p2w + SUVs have bigger hitboxes
That's why the whole cosmetics system is flawed for Rocket Racing.
