As a player who mains rocket racing, its so sad to see how quickly it failed. The dwindling player count is extremely disheartening and honestly gives more players a reason to stop playing, further making the player count problem worse
Keep in mind stw can earn some people vbucks, and there is quite a lot of these people. If stw didnt earn you vbucks, the game would be sitting at low numbers as well

Also stw does get updates , not frequently , but it gets enough updates for ALL these 7 years that is still online and kicking ! As someone who has reached unreal in both season zero and Neon Rush. I absolutely love the gamemode and its probably the only reason i still have fortnite downloaded.
Champion this season, sooo tough to reach. Took some grind and some angry days that u jus gotta put control down cuz u jus can't play, running into everything (time for speed runs) ALTHOUGH on days you're fire, u fire.
I also main this game and festival cause I’m a fan of guitar hero back in the day I’ve hit elite in season 1 and neon rush and am in diamond 3 this season about to hit elite, for this game to be successful they just need to add more content and not do it so slowly that might bring more players in I think
Issues with rocket racing that made RR failed: (from what I’ve experienced): 1: At the launch it had absolutely repetitive desert maps, making variety lacking and decreasing interest. 2: There is no casual mode that selects random maps like ranked 3: There were lack of updates, new tracks, new modes, etc. 4: Most of the “updates” are just the same old quests for cosmetics for the same old octane (Metallica quests were the best though) 5: Ranking up is absolutely sluggish, especially in the later ranks. not enough RP can be gained from most placements. Personally as a daily Rocket Racinh player this is the second time I’ve been Diamond 3 in a season, and Season 2 ranked is worse, because I started as Gold 1 and ranking up was much more slower for me. 6: The game has no appealing identity, it’s just another racing game with nothing really new. 7: For some reason I can remember what a track looks like but not it’s layout or name ☠️ 8: There’s no Mario kart like mode that’s so goofy I could play for hours, the game was only leaning torwards competitive ☠️ 9: Cars are too expensive and personally the only car I’d ever buy is lightning McQueen (If they ever release it) 10: The only true incentive to playing Rocket Racing is just for cosmetics and quest xp ☠️☠️☠️ Overall if there were no cosmetic inventive the game could die, there is NO denying (unless they actually care to revive it)
the game is so boring. It feels like a shore just to get one cosmetic for yet again the octane. since it came up im trying to get the argentina octane wrap but its unberable to play. right now im in 14/20 races without crashing the car, it feels like forever to get it and then I will forget about RR forever
I got to elite in rocket racing I checked Fortnite tracker to see the percentile for how many people are elite and I am in the top 0.1% of racers and only a few thousand are elite or above. The fact that elite is the top 0.1% shows how much people play rocket racing😂
I agree.... Elite and above is almost impossible, top 3-4 to advance, buuuut makes that much more gratifying when start slaying and actually learning the game mechanics and hit champion. Sucks I'm not an unreal ranked racer cuz I don't do button binding 😢
I’m still loving rocket racing even with a lower player count I still find matches in seconds. It’s mean to be competitive and adding items like Mario kart just trivializes that, most people who want that are just bad at the game. A new mode wouldn’t hurt at all but people who stop playing because there’s lower player count is some mob mentality
This mode failed because it was pushed by the RL community and instead of putting it in RL Epic hit us in the RL community with the double 🖕🖕 by taking trading out the game, then putting RR in Fortnite and making the driving mechanics like FN
Since I don’t feel like exploding I just want to note that they haven’t given up on the game mode at all. They’re still updating it frequently with new level themes, courses, and speed runs. Additionally the next season wasn’t delayed till October (leakers said I was mistake on their end) and was only delayed till July.
As someone who played it a LOT when it first dropped and I personally found it a lot of fun, but it did get a bit stale , I recently came back to it after not playing it for a while it was REALLY refreshing especially with the new maps. I think it’s one of those modes you pick up and play every so often but not one you grind especially because besides the map variety there really isn’t a lot worth playing the mode for unless you like racing games
it gets boring fast, there are like 3 tracks only lol you play over and over again and now they added ONE metallica race… drifting and turbo, nothing else. dead game, i don’t even bother getting free rewards nor the daily xp.

Each rank gets more tracks in the rotating pool than the last, but even if you are in bronze (which you should only be in for about 7 races) there are a minimum of 5-7 tracks in the pool, depending on the week. In higher ranks there are up to 20 tracks in the pool. Edit: Obviously you could get unlucky and get the same track multiple times in a row, but there's not much they can do about that without messing up matchmaking.

I think we need to give ROCKET Racing more time because it’s still a roughly new mode, they can’t just push everything out immediately. And I think they have the smaller team compared to Lego and festival so they probably need more time to push everything out compared to the other modes. Theres also a lot of things they can collab with like Pixar’s cars, and fast and furious, they could also add modes like Mario cart with the items and more.
You’re honestly so right about this, the mode sucks and lacks replayability and encouragement to make the player keep playing this mode aside from free cosmetics, as bad as this game mode is I really liked what they were aiming for and because of it I absolutely love this game, but oftentimes when I play this game it just feels like all that’s could’ve been has been swept away and only be used as player count browny points. I still think this game at its core can be fun, I like the fact that because it was so buggy people were able to find out tech to outrun other opponents because they learnt off of people superior, like air drifting, flying thruster boosts, those side dodge tricks where you deliberately miss the side walls to gain speed, shimmies, even going as far as to break death walls. I feel like this game has that potential to bring something else different to the table compared to the other racing games and try aim for that “race without limits” theme but because of the lack of love and care to this game that “potential” doesn’t really shine. I wish they could do more with this gamemode, I god damn love it man
Im unreal #300 in RR and its the only gamemode i like in fortnite, once you get good and consistent its a really fun game and a lot of your points aren't an issue anymore
ok so i agree with some things you said but there is also some info that is just flat out wrong. I want to defend the game here a little bit since i main it at the moment. 1. the next season has not been pused to october but the end of july. 2. expect for the diesel the cars do not cost 40 $ and i believe even the diesel got reduced in price. 3. the collisions have been improved a lot to the point where they should not bother you as much as you are saying. if they do then the only further thing they could change is remove it completely. They completely removed the 180° thing on collisions too. 4. By now there is a variety of maps with different aesthetics, themes and feel. The reason you might have that impression is that you only played until gold and that is it. Especially when the game launched almost all maps had the same desert like vibe, especially if you have just played until gold and never got to see the other ones. The map pool increases significantly and changes with each rank. current map rotation can be found in the RR discord. 5. updates have also significantly improved controlls, if you bump into stuff and die thats 95% of the time on you. there are stiff broken parts in maps, i know that. 6. "if you get hit its impossible for you to win that round" is also just not true. i win races in unreal even when i crash twice on lap 1. Its a skill issue, sorry to say. The catchup mechanic in the game makes you come back if you drive a clean rest of the race. 7. "No new Mechanics" is not true either and also another sign that you have not played the game enough. There is a bunch of in depth stuff to discover if you dive deeper into the speedrunning side of it like momentum, hidden speed, etc. There is a reason why there is a small but very active community playing it. I understand that those are not obvious and doesnt really help in making it more attractive for new players but still worth mentioning. dont get me wrong, lots of stuff could have been better and can still be improved, but yeah maybe the ship has sailed for RR to be a success. YOur video should still be valuable information since, even if lots of stuff you say is false, this IS THE IMPRESSION that lots of people have...
Made it to Unreal 3 times now, still love it! You can tell this season the maps are more thought out. I feel as though some of the older maps first released are outdated since no one was expecting to do mag flips, mirror drifts and fully break the mechanics to its limits
I love that ACTUAL rocket racing videos have like, no views, and videos about the death have 5.7k. Just so funny to me how many people dont care about this game. The people that care, its their whole life. But everyone else is too far removed from the top to have any fun, so they don't care, amd we only get competition amongst each other, the names everyone knows.
I got suprised when i saw that rr only had about 6k active players cuz the community is rly active there are a bunch of new wr everyday, they figure out new stuff to make runs faster like everyday and ppl are rly active in the non official rr discord servers like rr district 13 . I thought rr was like the most played game mode execpt for the br ones before i looked at the player count lol
Personally I've always enjoyed Rocket Racing I play it everyday. It's nowhere near the perfect mode and it has so many flaws to itself (especially the desync) but I've enjoyed the game for the game. I love the track layouts and rotations every week and i like how you unlock more tracks as you rank up. But i cant wait for the new UI and the new unranked playlist that recently got leaked and i feel like it has a lot of improvements that can be made I am hoping that we get a few more modes than just ranked unranked and speed run
Also Rocket Racing is GOOD now , not insanely good , but very good . I like the gameplay , I git veery good at it, I got unreal last season which was sooo tedious but I got there at the end and also I bet they gonna make it even better as its seasons progress
It sucks that it failed... I played it months after it had initially released. I think it's decent, however Epic Games should have made it more like Mario Kart. More people would be appealed to it and interested.
As a former unreal player of the first season I really like the game I thought the idea behind the game was dope but the only thing missing is items to benefit u in the race cuz after u hit champ if u mess up once ur in last with no way of catching up the game is to competitive with not enough room for error if they made the game similar to the movie death race the game would be much better even just getting car attachments would be cool like in br or even just throwing in emps to disable cars for a short period or a shield bubble or impulses to keep it child friendly it would bring a whole different skill set to the game nd maybe more players
i know its supposed to be a collab with rocket league but jesus let us uses different decals! i bought the samurai and it just has the default ones for the octane i think only the lightnings different. plus whats the point of releasing new decals if there all gonna go to the octane and even if they stop collabing they can make the wiplash or other cars the default car also some 'hard' levels are just normal levels with an annoying amount of slow down things scattered every were which i feel like werent even placed currectly honetly id like if we could have a traditional race on the br map.
Epic is really trying to keep a dead free game alive while save the world, a game that receives minor updates once a year (2 if we’re lucky) has a stable 20k players while costing 20$ They could just relaunch stw in chapter 6 and it would probably get an average player count of 50-100k and 500k+ on launch if they actually update it somewhat often.
I had a whole paragraph looking long comment with timestamps of basically replying to everything you have said in the video. But then that comment disappeared when I switched tabs before I could even submit so I'm gonna try remember what I said here. And consider this as a regular reply than a defense because everyone has their opinions and personal experiences on the game, and I'm basically just here to put some light into what you experienced. First thing that almost made me stop watching your video is at the mention of Ranked. Ranked Mode does not cover 90% of the maps you played actually. If you were to stop playing Ranked so much and manually picked each map in every session, you would see drastic differences on each map that made everything unique unlike what you claim to be. Expert Tracks for example (excluding the race tracks with the number 2 on them, I despise those levels) has a temple, castle, resort type of themes (and even more like a ruined area with a city in the background), with those said tracks focused more on the game's mechanics like Rocket Drifting, Air Dodging, Thruster Management, etc. with some unique track design like being upside down, inwards, walls with boost pads. Each bringing something new and different to the table despite the basic introduction of the game's mechanics. Your struggle on control can be easily managed if you were to change your bindings as I have experienced the game flawlessly (sometimes not as latency screws me over or the map has bad parts.), overall it could be an actual skill issue (no offense). If Rocket Racing were to end up like Mario Kart, value wouldn't change and it would be repetition of games + the collaboration with Psyonix (devs of Rocket League) would be pointless. Rocket Racing has all the parts that makes it similar to Rocket League, just translated to a racing format. Also the amount of mentions of Mario Kart stings my ears, you should give Crash Team Racing: Nitro Fueled a try. And as the video went on to the cosmetics, it feels like you have a collector's mindset. Just to remind you that all cosmetics are optional and does not greatly enhance your gameplay experience. And instead of spending $40 or more just to expand your roster of cars, just get the car and cosmetic you want and stop trying to make a collection. Rocket Racing also is not undergoing 7 months of the same season. The moment Metallica arrived to Fortnite, we have a new Rocket Racing season that introduced a handful of race tracks that involves volcanoes, islands, and so. Just to remind that Rocket Racing and Fortnite Festival's seasons are not the same as Fortnite Battle Royale. TL;DR You mainly played ranked and missed 80% of the content and didn't have the courage to improve that it didn't made your experience better. also since you mentioned Mario Kart so much, try Crash Team Racing: Nitro Fueled.
The problem with rocket racing is fortnite. I think a lot more people would've been willing to play it if they didn't have to go and download a massive bloaty game of a completely different genre in order to start playing it. Personally, I'm a big fan of the game, but it took me a while to even try it because I also didn't want to have to download and keep updating fortnite in order to play it. If they made it a stand alone game or within rocket league where there is a more similar player base that would maybe be interested in the game, I think it would've been more successful. The only part of fortnite I play is rocket racing, and it feels like every week or so I have a 20gb update to download for a game I don't play in order to play the game I do play
I play rocket racing a whole lot and i agree with most of this. However the cars are the same price as battle royale skins with a lot of customization. Anyways good video! Also the seaoen only got extended until the end of july not October.
Rocket Racing is fun, I didn’t really play this season of it though until the Metallica quests came. I would play it more if I could level up my rocket league battle pass in it. It’s probably my favorite racing game behind Mario Kart, but I don’t really play many racing games.

Even being 2 different game types, one of their main faults was not being able to bring Rocket League players to Racing. As a RL player before Fortnite, it was just the opposite. Because of the multiverse, they took away the most beloved feature of RL (trading items) and the community immediately went wild hating RRacing, without even playing. And to get worse, the items from RL that can be used in Fortnite (the motive for banning trade) are way too few even now (got better but it is still too lame and slow), obviously just to make us buy new cars, which are way too expensive, the greed is clear (I have 72 cars in RL and only 11 are in Fortnite). That, and the impossible grind (it's even worse above that but at diamond you win a race and go like 4% up, if you are 4th just 1%, 6th nothing. So are we supposed to go well in 60 or more races to rank up? I can't. And I don't want it to be easy, just possible to a dedicated regular player. It is so badly planned. I love Fortnite, I love Rocket League and I love racing games. Even so, I just play RRacing for the free stuff and then quit.
I've been playing R.R. since its launch, and as a racing game player over the years, I'm one of the very few who've quickly enjoyed this mode, that I've been in Unreal rank for a while now. It's too bad that this mode died very quickly more than the other two new modes, but what led to this makes sense whether it's difficult to rank up, people not being huge fans of racing, Rocket League and trading, etc. I agree that this mode lacks a lot of things and variety, leading to its downfall. Regardless, even if a lot of ppl won't agree, this mode always have a special place in my heart.

5 minutes before downtime going into season 3 rocket racing had 37 players. While there was like 5-10k playing battle royale and zero build, only 37 people were playing rocket racing. That’s pathetic
Look . Im just gonna say fortnite wasnt meant to be a metaverse . Im lowkey scared for fortnite's future cause what if they take all the atention in the other game modes and drop lack lester content in br . And honestly how rocket racing works its to unfair considering that they made the tracks tricky while epic knowing the high speed we race with the cars . And the grind its too time consuming not mattering if its quests or ranked . I hope they fix rocket racing soon cause if its stays like that , people will quit from playing the game mode 🫤
coming from a elite 2 raked player. its all garbage. The maps just get more complicated and boring as you progress. those red barriers everywhere, nothing is fun, the boost system is bad, the flip on every surface is awful and the way you have to drift on straight lines to be able to get more boost is just so dumb. I love racing games but tthis doesnt hit anything on me. either they go more GTA/ Forza kinda style or they go into a Mario Kart/ diddy kong racing style of game, not this garbage gamw which only reason to exist is to gain some xp
I think if epic wants rocket racing to be succsesful they need to introduce more than just racing, maybe a mode like crazy taxi where you have to collect durr burgers and deliver them to other locations or something, or maybe a minigame free for all like fall guys cause racing ain't it.
That’s funny because they spent like 6 years of dev time on this, Pysonix is just grossly incompetent, Epic needs to unload them, and rebrand Rocket Racing.
1. The update wasn't delayed to october??? That was posted by a single leaker for about 30 minutes before they corrected themselves. 2. Game is dead for a couple of reasons. First, by having 0 explanation of higher level game mechanics. As a high level player it pains me that basic drifting and flipping mechanics that add a ton of dynamic skill to the game weren't shown at all on launch and had to physically be discovered by the players. Even now, the gameplay shown in this video is absolutely god awful, and that isn't the player's fault its just that good mechanics have never really been shown off. This is part of the reason 99% of people stopped playing after getting the jacky skin, because every race was just driving in a straight line and occasionally pressing boost since no one had any idea what tf they were doing. Even now, if you don't know the more complicated mechanics and are staying on the track the whole time, every map will feel the same. Also, the actual good maps are locked behind reaching higher ranks, which again is idiotic for getting new players to keep going. Even now with them locking items behind RR quests, they lock the items behind repeatedly playing the same easy, boring map that doesn't require you to actually learn anything about the game.
I only bought the current rocket racing quest starter pack because I wanted the skin it comes with to put me in a headlock. Oh yeah and having a car that matches the behemoth SUV is nice too I guess
I liked rocket league before the pandemic, I also like the car mechanics of chapter 5 season 3. However I have not even touch rocket racing. I like festival mode and I barely tolerated Lego during during the Star Wars event. I only played it to get xp to finish the battle pass. I hope that festival mode will do well, the only problem I have with it is the lack of songs. They want you to purchase each song individually if you or a friend want to play it. 1 song is 500 vbucks. They did improve the jam tracks by having it as lobby music but I would still say they are not worth the price. I only would get the song if they are in the festival pass and so far I only bought Billie eilish.
Lol, I was so glad I didn't get the skin. All my classmates destroyed their free time to get the skin and every single one of them regretted it. The farthest i got was silver 2 :P The lobby music for it is kinda good though not gonna lie Also haha just get an actual Lego set for the money they expect you to pay for those freaking kits. I mean, they are coming out with Lego Fortnite sets anyways, right? (Btw the Fortnite festival short will hopefully be posted in a few days. Keyword hopefully.)
I love the mode.. they should put a season pass and exclusive car partrewards and hype up the game... it has potential linking up the rocket league items and create some cool tracks.. the metalica track reminds me of bowser themed race love the track its awesome... would love to drive my R34 GTR in Fortnite would be Epic.
My problem with the game mode is 1. Its way to average there so many other racing games like this that are better than it. 2. Dosent make any sense being part of fortnite it should be a new mode for rocket league!
Dont spread misinformation, The new season comes out in late July. Other than that, fair video. They really need to put in more effort into fixing a lot of these issues but i dont think they're listening to us about it. Maybe in like a year or two Rocket Racing will be the good mode it has the potential to be
I’m gonna be honest the best map by far is the Matalica one. It feels like that map had care put into it and they actually play tested the map. Most maps feel like they were thrown together and not tested
Rocket racing is my favourite of the 3 gamemodes but in my opinion what killed the mode is 3 minutes of racing then 3 minutes to get into next race Imagine you had to wait 15 minutes after every br game and the other issue is the slow ranking
Short answer, lack of content. The free cosmetics are a good motivation to play, and the mechanics and the maps are good, the problem is that there is almoast nothing to do once you get the free cosmetics, they should add at least a battle pass for rocket racing. And with battle pass i dont mean a mini pass, i mean a good battle pass with at least 50 levels. And other features like map voting, mini map on the screen, maps based on fortnite locations, etc.
Yea, It don't matter how many people play rocket racing ... It was added just as an excuse too sell Fortnite players cars, and do more collabs... How many people do you know who hate racing and bought cars for battle royale.. The mode was also added to link rocket league to fortnite... if your fortnite crew... you also get rocket pass for free, and can earn tons of free cosmetics... Also you could unlock the darth maul skin super quick in rocket league compared to the fortnite grind... Again it dont need players long as people are buying cosmetics
With darth maul decal, you are absolutely wrong with it being locked behind Rocket Racing. You could also get it for free in Rocket League too with quests
This may be long but I agree with nearly all you said, 2 things though. 1 you don’t like racing games you like Mario kart 2 I don’t think adding like items fixes the mode I think the main problem is it doesn’t feel like racing like you touched on, you constantly feel like your driving round the tracks solo, I feel like they should remove some of the button mashing of the mode by reducing some of the wall jumps and obstacles but maybe that’s just me but I don’t find that part fun I want to be racing other places being able to overtake and be overtaken be nose to tail for a lap or 2. Needs more focus on the racing aspect in short

I didn’t get the Maul and Podracer Octane skins but I got the recent Metallica skin for the Backfire body today, and let me tell you, the grind was NOT fun.
??? have you played in this new season... the 180 thing hasnt happened in a long time they patched that before Neon even came out... each season will release new levels.. and as the seasons go on the levels will become more complex and different as can be seen in each season thus far(plus bigger pool for overrall maps=more variety)...Cosmetic prices get adjusted cuz people keep buying them, $40 buys you how many skins in regular fortnite? two if they are high quality skins.. and as a player that reached Elite 78% and also plays League of Legends ranked. the ranked system in this is extremely fair, the gains are slow after you reach Elite, which is the second highest rank, so it should be. and gains are very generous before this point. once you reach elite is the only time ill agree that "there is no coming back" because everyone is good, so yeah, if you fk up once, and noone else does, easy 10th. but of course thats how it is in high elo, everyone is grinding and playing perfectly taking the most optimized lines because 4th place gives you 0 points.... as far as jank goes they've patched every bit of jank that there was, and i personally find this to be my current favorite racing game, its got the play style of Jak X combat racing without weapons(jak X considered my favorite racing game to ever be released) ... would it be improved if they added weapons? yes i think that would give a nice bit of variety and ability for worse(and younger) players to climb a little higher

There’s a lot of good points in this video, but a lot of info is outdated. Collisions in game do next to nothing to you, and NO car bodies cost $40. The most expensive is the lambo which is 3500 vbucks. Most cost 1500. Also, a lot of your issues with this mode genuinely sound like skill issues. You shoulda covered actual problems instead of talking about how you always crash.
I recently watched a video that’s similar to this one, and someone in the comments said that the real reason trading was removed was because they wanted to avoid legal trouble in the future
I *liked* rocket racing but now I find it boring, the way they handle seasons is a mess, for me I love cosmetics and fortnite doesnt fall behind but there being no battle pass is kinda dissapointing. Also can we get an UNRANKED mode that randomly selects maps? I absolutely hate having to go into Gold 3 lobbies to just play with others.

I think you are overreacting a little on your hate on rocket racing. It’s actually both good and bad. It kind of sucks mainly for doing a small mistake and losing the game, I also hate it (as you said too) it could have way better game mechanics. Also a small mistake is that you don’t get much XP from ranked. It’s a cool and fun game to break away from Battle Royale. It’s good, but it needs some improvement.
As a player who mains rocket racing, its so sad to see how quickly it failed. The dwindling player count is extremely disheartening and honestly gives more players a reason to stop playing, further making the player count problem worse

I also main this game and festival cause I’m a fan of guitar hero back in the day I’ve hit elite in season 1 and neon rush and am in diamond 3 this season about to hit elite, for this game to be successful they just need to add more content and not do it so slowly that might bring more players in I think

Issues with rocket racing that made RR failed: (from what I’ve experienced):
1: At the launch it had absolutely repetitive desert maps, making variety lacking and decreasing interest.
2: There is no casual mode that selects random maps like ranked
3: There were lack of updates, new tracks, new modes, etc.
4: Most of the “updates” are just the same old quests for cosmetics for the same old octane (Metallica quests were the best though)
5: Ranking up is absolutely sluggish, especially in the later ranks. not enough RP can be gained from most placements. Personally as a daily Rocket Racinh player this is the second time I’ve been Diamond 3 in a season, and Season 2 ranked is worse, because I started as Gold 1 and ranking up was much more slower for me.
6: The game has no appealing identity, it’s just another racing game with nothing really new.
7: For some reason I can remember what a track looks like but not it’s layout or name ☠️
8: There’s no Mario kart like mode that’s so goofy I could play for hours, the game was only leaning torwards competitive ☠️
9: Cars are too expensive and personally the only car I’d ever buy is lightning McQueen (If they ever release it)
10: The only true incentive to playing Rocket Racing is just for cosmetics and quest xp ☠️☠️☠️
Overall if there were no cosmetic inventive the game could die, there is NO denying (unless they actually care to revive it)

I got to elite in rocket racing I checked Fortnite tracker to see the percentile for how many people are elite and I am in the top 0.1% of racers and only a few thousand are elite or above. The fact that elite is the top 0.1% shows how much people play rocket racing😂

I’m still loving rocket racing even with a lower player count I still find matches in seconds. It’s mean to be competitive and adding items like Mario kart just trivializes that, most people who want that are just bad at the game. A new mode wouldn’t hurt at all but people who stop playing because there’s lower player count is some mob mentality
This mode failed because it was pushed by the RL community and instead of putting it in RL Epic hit us in the RL community with the double 🖕🖕 by taking trading out the game, then putting RR in Fortnite and making the driving mechanics like FN
Since I don’t feel like exploding I just want to note that they haven’t given up on the game mode at all. They’re still updating it frequently with new level themes, courses, and speed runs. Additionally the next season wasn’t delayed till October (leakers said I was mistake on their end) and was only delayed till July.

As someone who played it a LOT when it first dropped and I personally found it a lot of fun, but it did get a bit stale , I recently came back to it after not playing it for a while it was REALLY refreshing especially with the new maps. I think it’s one of those modes you pick up and play every so often but not one you grind especially because besides the map variety there really isn’t a lot worth playing the mode for unless you like racing games
it gets boring fast, there are like 3 tracks only lol you play over and over again and now they added ONE metallica race… drifting and turbo, nothing else. dead game, i don’t even bother getting free rewards nor the daily xp.

Each rank gets more tracks in the rotating pool than the last, but even if you are in bronze (which you should only be in for about 7 races) there are a minimum of 5-7 tracks in the pool, depending on the week. In higher ranks there are up to 20 tracks in the pool.
Edit: Obviously you could get unlucky and get the same track multiple times in a row, but there's not much they can do about that without messing up matchmaking.

I think we need to give ROCKET Racing more time because it’s still a roughly new mode, they can’t just push everything out immediately. And I think they have the smaller team compared to Lego and festival so they probably need more time to push everything out compared to the other modes. Theres also a lot of things they can collab with like Pixar’s cars, and fast and furious, they could also add modes like Mario cart with the items and more.
You’re honestly so right about this, the mode sucks and lacks replayability and encouragement to make the player keep playing this mode aside from free cosmetics, as bad as this game mode is I really liked what they were aiming for and because of it I absolutely love this game, but oftentimes when I play this game it just feels like all that’s could’ve been has been swept away and only be used as player count browny points.
I still think this game at its core can be fun, I like the fact that because it was so buggy people were able to find out tech to outrun other opponents because they learnt off of people superior, like air drifting, flying thruster boosts, those side dodge tricks where you deliberately miss the side walls to gain speed, shimmies, even going as far as to break death walls. I feel like this game has that potential to bring something else different to the table compared to the other racing games and try aim for that “race without limits” theme but because of the lack of love and care to this game that “potential” doesn’t really shine.

ok so i agree with some things you said but there is also some info that is just flat out wrong. I want to defend the game here a little bit since i main it at the moment.
1. the next season has not been pused to october but the end of july.
2. expect for the diesel the cars do not cost 40 $ and i believe even the diesel got reduced in price.
3. the collisions have been improved a lot to the point where they should not bother you as much as you are saying. if they do then the only further thing they could change is remove it completely. They completely removed the 180° thing on collisions too.
4. By now there is a variety of maps with different aesthetics, themes and feel. The reason you might have that impression is that you only played until gold and that is it. Especially when the game launched almost all maps had the same desert like vibe, especially if you have just played until gold and never got to see the other ones. The map pool increases significantly and changes with each rank. current map rotation can be found in the RR discord.
5. updates have also significantly improved controlls, if you bump into stuff and die thats 95% of the time on you. there are stiff broken parts in maps, i know that.
6. "if you get hit its impossible for you to win that round" is also just not true. i win races in unreal even when i crash twice on lap 1. Its a skill issue, sorry to say. The catchup mechanic in the game makes you come back if you drive a clean rest of the race.
7. "No new Mechanics" is not true either and also another sign that you have not played the game enough. There is a bunch of in depth stuff to discover if you dive deeper into the speedrunning side of it like momentum, hidden speed, etc. There is a reason why there is a small but very active community playing it. I understand that those are not obvious and doesnt really help in making it more attractive for new players but still worth mentioning.
dont get me wrong, lots of stuff could have been better and can still be improved, but yeah maybe the ship has sailed for RR to be a success. YOur video should still be valuable information since, even if lots of stuff you say is false, this IS THE IMPRESSION that lots of people have...
Made it to Unreal 3 times now, still love it! You can tell this season the maps are more thought out. I feel as though some of the older maps first released are outdated since no one was expecting to do mag flips, mirror drifts and fully break the mechanics to its limits

I got suprised when i saw that rr only had about 6k active players cuz the community is rly active there are a bunch of new wr everyday, they figure out new stuff to make runs faster like everyday and ppl are rly active in the non official rr discord servers like rr district 13 . Personally I've always enjoyed Rocket Racing I play it everyday. It's nowhere near the perfect mode and it has so many flaws to itself (especially the desync) but I've enjoyed the game for the game.
I love the track layouts and rotations every week and i like how you unlock more tracks as you rank up.
But i cant wait for the new UI and the new unranked playlist that recently got leaked and i feel like it has a lot of improvements that can be made

It sucks that it failed... I played it months after it had initially released. I think it's decent, however Epic Games should have made it more like Mario Kart. More people would be appealed to it and interested.
As a former unreal player of the first season I really like the game I thought the idea behind the game was dope but the only thing missing is items to benefit u in the race cuz after u hit champ if u mess up once ur in last with no way of catching up the game is to competitive with not enough room for error if they made the game similar to the movie death race the game would be much better even just getting car attachments would be cool like in br or even just throwing in emps to disable cars for a short period or a shield bubble or impulses to keep it child friendly it would bring a whole different skill set to the game nd maybe more players

i bought the samurai and it just has the default ones for the octane i think only the lightnings different. plus whats the point of releasing new decals if there all gonna go to the octane

Epic is really trying to keep a dead free game alive while save the world, a game that receives minor updates once a year (2 if we’re lucky) has a stable 20k players while costing 20$
They could just relaunch stw in chapter 6 and it would probably get an average player count of 50-100k and 500k+ on launch if they actually update it somewhat often.

But then that comment disappeared when I switched tabs before I could even submit so I'm gonna try remember what I said here.
And consider this as a regular reply than a defense because everyone has their opinions and personal experiences on the game, and I'm basically just here to put some light into what you experienced.
First thing that almost made me stop watching your video is at the mention of Ranked.
Ranked Mode does not cover 90% of the maps you played actually. If you were to stop playing Ranked so much and manually picked each map in every session, you would see drastic differences on each map that made everything unique unlike what you claim to be. Expert Tracks for example (excluding the race tracks with the number 2 on them, I despise those levels) has a temple, castle, resort type of themes (and even more like a ruined area with a city in the background), with those said tracks focused more on the game's mechanics like Rocket Drifting, Air Dodging, Thruster Management, etc. with some unique track design like being upside down, inwards, walls with boost pads. Each bringing something new and different to the table despite the basic introduction of the game's mechanics.
Your struggle on control can be easily managed if you were to change your bindings as I have experienced the game flawlessly (sometimes not as latency screws me over or the map has bad parts.), overall it could be an actual skill issue (no offense).
If Rocket Racing were to end up like Mario Kart, value wouldn't change and it would be repetition of games + the collaboration with Psyonix (devs of Rocket League) would be pointless. Rocket Racing has all the parts that makes it similar to Rocket League, just translated to a racing format. Also the amount of mentions of Mario Kart stings my ears, you should give Crash Team Racing: Nitro Fueled a try.
And as the video went on to the cosmetics, it feels like you have a collector's mindset. Just to remind you that all cosmetics are optional and does not greatly enhance your gameplay experience. And instead of spending $40 or more just to expand your roster of cars, just get the car and cosmetic you want and stop trying to make a collection.
Rocket Racing also is not undergoing 7 months of the same season. The moment Metallica arrived to Fortnite, we have a new Rocket Racing season that introduced a handful of race tracks that involves volcanoes, islands, and so. Just to remind that Rocket Racing and Fortnite Festival's seasons are not the same as Fortnite Battle Royale.
TL;DR You mainly played ranked and missed 80% of the content and didn't have the courage to improve that it didn't made your experience better. also since you mentioned Mario Kart so much, try Crash Team Racing: Nitro Fueled.
The problem with rocket racing is fortnite. I think a lot more people would've been willing to play it if they didn't have to go and download a massive bloaty game of a completely different genre in order to start playing it. Personally, I'm a big fan of the game, but it took me a while to even try it because I also didn't want to have to download and keep updating fortnite in order to play it. If they made it a stand alone game or within rocket league where there is a more similar player base that would maybe be interested in the game, I think it would've been more successful. The only part of fortnite I play is rocket racing, and it feels like every week or so I have a 20gb update to download for a game I don't play in order to play the game I do play
I play rocket racing a whole lot and i agree with most of this. However the cars are the same price as battle royale skins with a lot of customization. Anyways good video! Also the seaoen only got extended until the end of july not October.
Rocket Racing is fun, I didn’t really play this season of it though until the Metallica quests came. I would play it more if I could level up my rocket league battle pass in it. It’s probably my favorite racing game behind Mario Kart, but I don’t really play many racing games.

Even being 2 different game types, one of their main faults was not being able to bring Rocket League players to Racing. As a RL player before Fortnite, it was just the opposite. Because of the multiverse, they took away the most beloved feature of RL (trading items) and the community immediately went wild hating RRacing, without even playing. And to get worse, the items from RL that can be used in Fortnite (the motive for banning trade) are way too few even now (got better but it is still too lame and slow), obviously just to make us buy new cars, which are way too expensive, the greed is clear (I have 72 cars in RL and only 11 are in Fortnite). That, and the impossible grind (it's even worse above that but at diamond you win a race and go like 4% up, if you are 4th just 1%, 6th nothing. So are we supposed to go well in 60 or more races to rank up? I can't. And I don't want it to be easy, just possible to a dedicated regular player. It is so badly planned. I love Fortnite, I love Rocket League and I love racing games. Even so, I just play RRacing for the free stuff and then quit.
I've been playing R.R. since its launch, and as a racing game player over the years, I'm one of the very few who've quickly enjoyed this mode, that I've been in Unreal rank for a while now. It's too bad that this mode died very quickly more than the other two new modes, but what led to this makes sense whether it's difficult to rank up, people not being huge fans of racing, Rocket League and trading, etc. I agree that this mode lacks a lot of things and variety, leading to its downfall. Regardless, even if a lot of ppl won't agree, this mode always have a special place in my heart.

The maps just get more complicated and boring as you progress. those red barriers everywhere, nothing is fun, the boost system is bad, the flip on every surface is awful and the way you have to drift on straight lines to be able to get more boost is just so dumb. That’s funny because they spent like 6 years of dev time on this, Pysonix is just grossly incompetent, Epic needs to unload them, and rebrand Rocket Racing.
1. The update wasn't delayed to october??? That was posted by a single leaker for about 30 minutes before they corrected themselves.
2. Game is dead for a couple of reasons. First, by having 0 explanation of higher level game mechanics. As a high level player it pains me that basic drifting and flipping mechanics that add a ton of dynamic skill to the game weren't shown at all on launch and had to physically be discovered by the players. Even now, the gameplay shown in this video is absolutely god awful, and that isn't the player's fault its just that good mechanics have never really been shown off. This is part of the reason 99% of people stopped playing after getting the jacky skin, because every race was just driving in a straight line and occasionally pressing boost since no one had any idea what tf they were doing. Even now, if you don't know the more complicated mechanics and are staying on the track the whole time, every map will feel the same.
Also, the actual good maps are locked behind reaching higher ranks, which again is idiotic for getting new players to keep going.
Even now with them locking items behind RR quests, they lock the items behind repeatedly playing the same easy, boring map that doesn't require you to actually learn anything about the game.

I liked rocket league before the pandemic, I also like the car mechanics of chapter 5 season 3. However I have not even touch rocket racing. I like festival mode and I barely tolerated Lego during during the Star Wars event. I only played it to get xp to finish the battle pass. I hope that festival mode will do well, the only problem I have with it is the lack of songs. They want you to purchase each song individually if you or a friend want to play it. 1 song is 500 vbucks. They did improve the jam tracks by having it as lobby music but I would still say they are not worth the price. I only would get the song if they are in the festival pass and so far I only bought Billie eilish.
Lol, I was so glad I didn't get the skin. All my classmates destroyed their free time to get the skin and every single one of them regretted it. The farthest i got was silver 2 :P

Rocket racing honestly had potential. Its just it gets boring after 5 races for me. Wish it had items to throw like mario cart
I love the mode.. they should put a season pass and exclusive car partrewards and hype up the game... it has potential linking up the rocket league items and create some cool tracks.. the metalica track reminds me of bowser themed race love the track its awesome... would love to drive my R34 GTR in Fortnite would be Epic.
My problem with the game mode is
1. Its way to average there so many other racing games like this that are better than it.
2. Dosent make any sense being part of fortnite it should be a new mode for rocket league!
Dont spread misinformation, The new season comes out in late July. Other than that, fair video. They really need to put in more effort into fixing a lot of these issues but i dont think they're listening to us about it. Maybe in like a year or two Rocket Racing will be the good mode it has the potential to be
I’m gonna be honest the best map by far is the Matalica one. It feels like that map had care put into it and they actually play tested the map. Most maps feel like they were thrown together and not tested
Rocket racing is my favourite of the 3 gamemodes but in my opinion what killed the mode is 3 minutes of racing then 3 minutes to get into next race Imagine you had to wait 15 minutes after every br game and the other issue is the slow ranking

Short answer, lack of content.
The free cosmetics are a good motivation to play, and the mechanics and the maps are good, the problem is that there is almoast nothing to do once you get the free cosmetics, they should add at least a battle pass for rocket racing.
And with battle pass i dont mean a mini pass, i mean a good battle pass with at least 50 levels.
And other features like map voting, mini map on the screen, maps based on fortnite locations, etc.
Yea, It don't matter how many people play rocket racing ...
It was added just as an excuse too sell Fortnite players cars, and do more collabs...
How many people do you know who hate racing and bought cars for battle royale..
The mode was also added to link rocket league to fortnite... if your fortnite crew... you also get rocket pass for free, and can earn tons of free cosmetics...
Also you could unlock the darth maul skin super quick in rocket league compared to the fortnite grind...
Again it dont need players long as people are buying cosmetics
With darth maul decal, you are absolutely wrong with it being locked behind Rocket Racing.
You could also get it for free in Rocket League too with quests

The only new cosmetic worth buying is the jam track, you get a upgraded emote, a lobby track and Gameplay to fortnite festival

This may be long but I agree with nearly all you said, 2 things though. 1 you don’t like racing games you like Mario kart 2 I don’t think adding like items fixes the mode I think the main problem is it doesn’t feel like racing like you touched on, you constantly feel like your driving round the tracks solo, I feel like they should remove some of the button mashing of the mode by reducing some of the wall jumps and obstacles but maybe that’s just me but I don’t find that part fun I want to be racing other places being able to overtake and be overtaken be nose to tail for a lap or 2. Needs more focus on the racing aspect in short

??? have you played in this new season... the 180 thing hasnt happened in a long time they patched that before Neon even came out... each season will release new levels.. and as the seasons go on the levels will become more complex and different as can be seen in each season thus far(plus bigger pool for overrall maps=more variety)...Cosmetic prices get adjusted cuz people keep buying them, $40 buys you how many skins in regular fortnite? two if they are high quality skins.. and as a player that reached Elite 78% and also plays League of Legends ranked. the ranked system in this is extremely fair, the gains are slow after you reach Elite, which is the second highest rank, so it should be. and gains are very generous before this point. once you reach elite is the only time ill agree that "there is no coming back" because everyone is good, so yeah, if you fk up once, and noone else does, easy 10th. but of course thats how it is in high elo, everyone is grinding and playing perfectly taking the most optimized lines because 4th place gives you 0 points.... as far as jank goes they've patched every bit of jank that there was, and i personally find this to be my current favorite racing game, its got the play style of Jak X combat racing without weapons(jak X considered my favorite racing game to ever be released) ... would it be improved if they added weapons? yes i think that would give a nice bit of variety and ability for worse(and younger) players to climb a little higher

There’s a lot of good points in this video, but a lot of info is outdated. Collisions in game do next to nothing to you, and NO car bodies cost $40. The most expensive is the lambo which is 3500 vbucks. Most cost 1500.
Also, a lot of your issues with this mode genuinely sound like skill issues. You shoulda covered actual problems instead of talking about how you always crash.

I *liked* rocket racing but now I find it boring, the way they handle seasons is a mess, for me I love cosmetics and fortnite doesnt fall behind but there being no battle pass is kinda dissapointing. Also can we get an UNRANKED mode that randomly selects maps? I absolutely hate having to go into Gold 3 lobbies to just play with others.
They said they are looking to passes on Rocket Racing, also Casual mode has been leaked on today's update, so soon the pain will be over ;)

Outnod them all Lego has most TH-camrs and actually becoz S3 was so bad I played Lego and festival more often (before reload) coz in s2 br was actually fun
@@princetbz1102 Festival is ok, the old mode can be used to train the songs for the battle stage, but Lego, Lego is like if you're playing now it's because you didn't play on S1 and S2 must for that reason, ir Fortnite wanted to take away the event team to build a Metaverse congratulations, it failed miserably
i see whats the problem, this is not like rocket league, if this game had the same sense of speed and physics of rocket league it would had been a success, not even that! imagine having the same cars on both games, i mean, you unlock some car on a game and you have it on the other.

I think you are overreacting a little on your hate on rocket racing. It’s actually both good and bad.
It kind of sucks mainly for doing a small mistake and losing the game, I also hate it (as you said too) it could have way better game mechanics.
Also a small mistake is that you don’t get much XP from ranked.
It’s a cool and fun game to break away from Battle Royale. It’s good, but it needs some improvement.
