wanted to make this video not to purely bash Epic Games, but to voice out a lot of concerns from the community that I've seen these last few months in hopes for a better future. looks like they actually came out with a solid update yesterday so I'm hoping for some shift that can really push Rocket League in the direction of it's potential. 2024 is the year that likely makes or breaks Rocket League
That hit me really hard too, especially when you see the prices of items in the shop, 2000 credits for a black market decal that looks like sht and also was like 400 credits in rl insider, it seems like rocket league is solwly turning into Venezuela
It is actually true. If you look at the prices of the item shop it seems like they see us players as customers. And if you would compare the prices of items we had for them when trading was still here you clearly can see that epic games just wants money, money and money. But to be honest this is not the first time where they only want money...
But that's true. Every game that becomes "live service" is like that. Show me a game with a battle pass that has fair monetization and company cares about the game or people playing it?
What’s wild is the communication. I think we can all handle news about layoffs, dropping casters, lack of updates and why, if Epic just talks to us. They’ve dropped bombs on the community with no warning and we have received no good news in return. For any woman out there, this is what getting kicked in the balls feels like
Cell you and other content creators are doing really well finding content keep going I really understand how it can be hard but if more of u like sunless temporarily quit we will have nothing 😭
Playing since release...something changed a few seasons ago, matching making wasnt consistent, playing people with wildly different skill levels in ranked. It just feels off, to many little changes, in the background, that just dont make it as fun as it used to be. So sad, ive not played for over a month now
Exactly, it’s all the little updates they are doing that’s ruining the game. Yet people are constantly complaint for more updates… while us old players just want them to leave the damn game alone…
If they were good at being greedy they'd protect a profitable asset like Rocket League. Rocket League hasn't been around so long because it lost money, lol. It's a real shame Psyionix let go of their game, I don't know the details of the sale but they could have protected their employees and potentially made more money holding onto the game.
Trading removal was the end of it for me. I have 4000+ hours in the game.. I am flabbergasted a company can fuck up a game so quick. Never will I touch that field again. As someone who has played since August of 2015... absolutely horrible company.
same man. It was just so blatantly obvious that it was a sign of the shitshow to come, so i basically quit right then and there. I wish I didn’t have to, but if the game is gonna be killed anyway, why cling to it. Why give a shit or try to get good if it’s just gonna fade into obscurity in the next few years.
Appreciate the shout out, Musty. I did really care about the game. All of us did. This community gave me some of the best experiences of my life. I'll be forever grateful to everyone for welcoming me as one of your community managers. Despite everything happening right now, there isn't a day that goes by where I don't wish I could still be there doing my best to support you all. Take care 👋
i played so much in 2020 - 2023 summer, rl was my way of chilling aftr a long day, its sad to see this route taking effect hopefully someone will listen, someone from the team behind it will take into account issues.
no what it showing us is the failure of the consumer, to many of us bought into this fairy tail of battlepasses and microtransactions and lost sight of what was actually important. The consumer is to blame for allowing all of this to happen in the first place. When the player base didn't rebel as epic stole the game you loved with an evil grin as they took steps to ban players with the balls to talk shit back to the toxic 10 yearolds of the worst era in gaming history. speak with your wallet it's the only thing triple A devs understand.... the game can be shit nowadays as long as it's just addicting enough to keep anyone with deep enough pockets to support it through a legendary cape for only a small 100$..... people need to wake up and stop spending money on Games as a Service..... if you wanted to make the BIGGEST company in history right now all you would have to do is make a game and let the community mod it to shit for free with a paid mod section that you take 5% of.... there wouldn't be another gaming company that could even stand up to you as they all have taken the power of creation away from the community except the few outliers.
@@TheVoidxi Everything wrong with the world today can be tied back to corporate greed. This one situation isn't special. Fuck Epic, and fuck all the corporations that put shareholders above employees and customers. So pretty much fuck all corporations lol
@@Wheelman2004 all im pointing out is that corporations aren't the sole reason. As a consumer when you interact with anti consumer based policies and do not speak with your dollars, you are giving it the ok to proceed and grow in that direction. Unfortunately monopolies have been created under the guise of competition while everyone "competing" against each other has the same share holders in power.....
@@TheVoidxi Voting with your dollar is a myth. Companies will do whatever the fuck they want, and there's no amount of 'voting with your dollar' that can stop it. This is not a 'consumer' issue. We are their player base. They are failing to provide us with basic ass shit, and the game is suffering because of it. But they don't care. They're just continuing to do the same lame ass shit.
@@elvin3162 so you ass the player base can make a choice.... stop giving them money for the useless shit or it will keep coming... this is absolutely a failure of the consumer as well as greedy devs. but make no mistake sir companies only look at the Profit from these "shitty consumables" and if they are profitable they will never be gone.
There was a time in my past where I was extremely down and my head was full of dark thoughts. Rocket League was an outlet for me during this period, I sunk in over 300 hours into this game - more than any game (I'm not much of a gamer). This is when I discovered many of the RL pros and creators like musty, and would religiously watch them on TH-cam and twitch. I even followed all pro events regularly. Thinking back, all of this was a big blur in my memory because of the depression I was going through at the time but this video helped me remember the good parts of those times, when I'd just get lost in RL for hours and sometimes even meet some cool people through the game. This game has a special place in my heart and I hope Epic games really gets their shit together and undoes their mistakes. Pains me to see this game dying because of damn fortnite, jeez. I just went back to check in on all of the RL creators I used to watch and it's safe to say none of them are doing good in terms of views. Rocket League needs a resurgence and I hope that happens before it dies down beyond the point of no return.
In 2020 i was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer, we all know what 2020 was. Rl was a god send for me. thankfully i beat it But even after 10k hours this game is going downhill after Epic took over.
this game just needs a reboot. I could raise this game better than Epic can. Fortnite is a spreading disease. It can and WILL kill other games within the snap of two fingers. (Edit) sry for the war in the comments lol
its a fact fortnite is becoming a hub to play every single game. Wouldn't be surprised if rocket league goes offline and becomes a game within fortnite.
my friend used to love to play rocket league and would play it every day but now with all that rl has done he said it was now boring and went to play fortnite:(
Epic can kill RL with the snap of a finger, I don't think its fair to blame RL's downfall on Fortnite. Both games could succeed, but that's up to the owners.
Nope. This wasn't a mistake. They probably needed to stop trading to close the window on player's items/accounts from being accessed through whatever ways in are left open BECAUSE of that crossover between RL and Rocket Racing. So, have trading and potentially have your account hacked/lose your items/account or don't have trading and retain what you own. Sucks, but that's it since they most likely wouldn't even know where to look when it comes to backdoors into accounts, especially for this game they'd prefer to have in working order ASAP for as long as possible without having to do any upkeep.
@@JUNK_ZONEwell that is probobly true but I'm pretty sure people would rather have trading in rocket league than have there rocket league items in rocket racing.
I’ve been saying for years. Rocket league has the potential to be one of the biggest eSports in the scene. If it’s done correctly, it could change eSports as a whole. So sad to see it being left unmanaged basically
Ikr? I mean imo its like the most accessible esport for casuals. Basically soccer with cars. This esports should have become top 3 most popular esports but these people dont care.
@@TheFilthy5ifty well you havent played many games either if thats the hardest one to you. Hell I have 11k hours on cs, plus a fuck ton more on r6, rust, comp cod back in the day etc, EVEN THEN ill say LoL is 10x harder than rocket league lol. Ive put like 3k hours into league still plat, 1900 hours in RL peaked gc2.
damn bro. musty my heart goes out to you and all of these other amazing content creators. this gives me so much respect for y’all; knowing the hard work and effort it takes just to try and dig for something new- to find a new diamond in the rough to guide your content, it kills my heart for this game that i love. it’s truly a sad thing to see- monopolies like epic games that come in and get rid of the passion; they fire the talented and creative self-reliant workers just to take a more utilitarian approach. it becomes a machine. we don’t need a machine. this game was made by people. talented people with dreams and creativity. i wish i was older and smart enough to know if epic games is even doing what’s best for their company or just running it into the gutter. anyways ig i’m just trying to say i’m proud of you and the other content creators. y’all have done all you can and shared yourselves with us. your amazing ideas and creativity are so greatly loved by the community and appreciated. please don’t forget that. unfortunately it just sucks man. but we’re all in the same boat together. i don’t want any of you to lose your innovative spirits or creativity, because y’all are so much better than to willingly offer them to a closed ear. god bless y’all, i love you guys 🫶🔥❤️
I don't think I've ever seen a game fall off in popularity and hype as fast as rocket league has recently. Epic is deliberately killing the game and something needs to be done to get their hands off of it
Taking away drop shot was annoying huge killer for me. There are hoops mains and drop shot mains. Imagine your main game mode over the past 4 years just up and goes away. It sucks. I haven’t played since.
My guess is that in the next few years Rocket league will become an alternate mode in fortnite just like fall guys probably will as well like racing rn is and no longer be a stand alone thing, and these slow times are the inbetween time before they fuse the game to fortnite
Musty to the rescue! 2023 RLCS World Championships was the first my brother and I ever watched from home. We were insanely inspired by the excitement, community, and talented pros. Then we wondered why there was no Fall Major a few months later (eventually realizing this was abnormal for RL). Later in November, I made my first trades and got some awesome, rare items just because I knew it was ending. Now, I wish I traded much more while it existed. The past few weeks of RLCS have been exciting in 2024, but it won't continue if they defund pro play. Squishy retiring is just the tip of the iceberg. I hope they make some changes.
I never really got into trading either until I saw some really cool decals and was like "yo I want that" and so I actually dumped some money into that, and I love the items, but I never had the chance to get the full set like I wanted, all because of them taking trading away. I can't even get the items through the drops at all because of how many items are in the game. giant L from "Epic" Games.
@@ThatOneGuyEmblem yeah, I miss trading already. Plus, I don’t think you can get rocket pass items or any limited items via drops or the item shop. I never got Radosin’s decal 🙁 (think it’s called filiformer).
I sent an email to epic games about rocket league and problems with the game and they responded with a form letter about how they are always trying to improve fortnite. That's how much they care about you.
I once tried to report a racist player directly through Rocket League support and they responded with a link that would "help me with that matter" I clicked the link and it led me to a guide on their website showing how to report players in *_Fortnite_*
I am just so devastated that a corporation can do something like this. For me, I used to play this when I was kid. I have had so many good memories and moments in this game. I feel bad for all of the content creators, the pros, anyone involved with Rocket League, because they have put their blood, sweat, and tears in making this a great game and Epic Games just doesn't give anything back. I hope Epic Games revamps Rocket League. Love you Musty keep it up man!
Im on my universitys rocket league team and whats happening with rocket league is really worrying, ive spent so much time as well as other players harnessing our skills to get better at this game we love so much and they are just ruining it, taking away key features and game modes that negatively affect your average player as well as ruining the rlcs scene which is eliminating pros and castors. Its hard to put so much time into a game you love when you can't help but feel like the game is just slowly disappearing and will eventually be gone, i feel as if squishy retiring as well as lobby's being harder and harder to find sums it all up pretty well. Great video musty I really hope this gets someone's attention.
Yesterday I had to wait 7 minutes to get into a C1 2s lobby I have never had that problem before Rocket league is changing into something unrecognisable
i came back to rocket league this year but i didnt know what was going on with it or anything and i was confused on why i couldnt trade until i saw this video. I grew up with rocket league and now its just sad to see it die.
Same, I grew up with roll it was the first device I used, and seeing it die with no trading, (didn’t get to try it) can’t play with guests, and no more custom matches
what just because of the ranking system, really? Who cares about that, the game is still good. You can still have a blast playing it. Problem mainly is that epic I guess aren't seeing much profit with it and will happily kill off the game if it saves them money on resources. They want little effort on these games and massive profits, unfortunately rocket league doesn't bring them that. Which is a damn shame, because the core of the game is unmatched. Gonna miss rl when it's gone
came back after a few months to play 4 games. In 3/4 one opponents threw the game and in the other game my teammate joined for 30 sec and left i got to a score of 2 - 2 and he joins back misses a shot and leaves.
Mertzy is absolutely right with this tweet. 13:44 Super sad but its the truth and we have to accept it. Epic games is ruining many peoples lives and my childhood for money.
i miss dropshot :( . i doubt anyone else does, as when it gets late in my timezone DS matches would start to take forever to queue, but man do i miss that mode. i could play it for hours on end and it really felt like i learned a lot of fundamentals through that mode. i hit low diamond in 2s and 3s (im not good by any metric other than comparing to casual players maybe), and i dont think i ever even broke out of plat in dropshot, but GOD was it fun. i dont really care for anything else in the game, i would play 2s ranked and get a rank every season just to do it and see where i placed, but by far i played dropshot almost exclusively. havent been on pretty much since it was removed. maybe its not dropshot for everyone, but i hear similar sentiments from friends for other things they enjoyed.
I don't know if there was temporarily no drposhot but the mode is still in the game even in ranked. Didn't even registered it wasn't in the game (if it wasn't)
@@slovnicurling9808 Every other season Drop Shot and Snow Day swap out in the competitive list. This season (Season 14) has Drop Shot, next season will have Snow Day. There is no reason for them to do this. It just makes people upset every 3 months when a mode they actually like is taken out for no apparent reason...
It’s so frustrating because like you said, all of our gripes and concerns feel like they are just being cast out into the void with no answers or explanations. We are sat here watching our game die slowly, and it’s more than just a great game on the line, it’s entire careers, thousands of hours of work, ‘wasted’ childhoods grinding to be the best and so much more. And I’m sure psyonix has to just feel sick seeing what’s happened to their darling. I don’t hold them accountable for anything because this truly feels like epic strong arming them to exercise their will and squeeze the community of every last dollar they can get.
Used to play more back in the day but not much anymore. Really sad to see that game die like this as I have a long history with it being an EST. 2016 player.
@@inmysystem007 that’s true but I’ve been having longer que times. Worse matchmaking, and it honestly just doesn’t feel the same. I’m playing just cuz I love the game, I no longer care about getting better yk
I totally agree with everything you said. I stopped playing RL after they announced they were getting rid of trading even though I have never traded but I saw a ton of people were not happy with it so I didn't want to support a game that didn't listen to its players. It sounds like it's gotten a lot worse since I stopped paying attention and left at a good time. I know you make a living off the game and I know this affects you more than people like me. I hope everything is going well for you.
Some friends of mine bought credits just for trading. They refuse to buy anything now. I rarely traded (just with friends if one of us had something the other wanted to use) but after that announcement, I refuse to buy anything from them ever again. So they've lost at least 4 people from that decision. Wish more would have followed suit.
I started playing is early 2017, really became passionate about it in late 2018 and it became my main game. I uninstalled it just the other day bc I just don’t enjoy it anymore and it was honestly sad and hard to do.
I feel you dude. 2016-2022 with only a handful of breaks about a month or two long. Just focusing on aim training for mouse control and FPS games, because it’ll take a lot for that entire genre to die. It’ll also take a lot for the mouse to be replaced entirely 😂 it’s also fun, which is important
fok trading. Petition Rocket league itself. If we all just stop playing the that'll actually hurt rocket league way more than just commenting on their posts. I havent played in months and neither have my friends.
@@Marcelo-ff6is point is, that way you really hurt the game, and not just the company. As Musty said in the video, “hate the company, not the game”. We need to make petitions and gather up so many opinions that they cannot be ignored anymore, and that obviously doesn’t only include trading.
Everybody needs to just get rid of fortnite who plays rocket league. Obviously it their money maker, and in order for them to care money needs to be subtracted where it hurts.
I miss this game. It used to be so amazing and I have spent more than 13,000+ hours in this game and then one day I just stopped and I was never able to get back into it. I love this game so much but it needs to get better.
I'm only 16 but I've been watching people play this game since 2015. I watched this game grow so much and I feel like I grew up with this game. whenever I got tired of everything else, I can't imagine this game dying. it hasn't changed much gameplay wise but I could always just have fun on rocket league every now and then. the game never died after all this time. I just regret not playing even more now. it's not even as fun as it was pre 2020. I never thought it was going to end up with the game feeling stale, the microtransactions feeling worse than 2016 crates, and now everyone I watched for years has stopped loving the game too. 2015. Literally half of my life has been filled with 2k+ hours of rocket league and probably another thousand hours watching rocket league content and it feels like yesterday neatmike was making videos about rocket league rage and jonsandman was making videos with woofless. I just think it's fascinating how much the game has fallen off with it's own community. ik I'm just a player who is barely above the average casual player in skill (gc peak once before ssl came out), but even people who put 10k+ hours can't find a reason to keep playing and it's just sad to see
broooooooo, the fact that musty just summed up everyones concerns and anger in one video and, also that as the biggest continent creator for rocket league stepped up to epic like this; goes to show how good of a human being he is and how he didn't sell out and cut deals with epic like tenacity did and stayed quiet about all this. This is why I watch your content and a select few others instead of people like tenacity. mad respect musty.
@@felixghiringhelli5852 he ran a couple epic ads right after he expressed his discontent with RL. Pretty much they bought him off to stay quiet cuz of his influence
I feel you bro. My friends and I quit when they dropped trading, but it was just the final straw after the slow rotting away of the game. Sell the game Epic!
Stopped playing cause f2p led to insanely high number of smurfs, or ppl straight duo boosting their friends on fresh epic accounts, and this still hasnt been addressed to this day as my friends say. On top of that, the recent mmr changes which dropped everyone in rank, suddenly now you're 2 ranks down but playing with the same people... for what? kill my expectations on getting gc? Just said nah i got better games to play. Also, i used to trade a lot, now its gone, part of the community and my interest. Used to play everyday at least 1-2 hours, nowadays i play 1-2 times a week when friends call to premade.
Everything we as players were afraid for when it was announced that Epic will take over rocket league has happened and even more. A game I used to love thrown in the bin by Epic they don't care and its sad to see a game like this slowly going down.
I haven’t played in 3-4 years, it was an awesome game to play with friends. I enjoyed the trading aspect to share different stuff with friends and they made me enjoy watching competitive on twitch to receive rewards in game. Sad to see this is what it has come to. It is an older game now for sure and is evident from this video that they are pushing it to the side..., despite there being so much potential still.
I used to play back in 2019 and early 2020 and I joined back now, and unironically nothing has really changed, except for the fact that it’s more p2w bruh
I used to play back in the days of 2016-2020, but now every few weeks a few matches and I am very sad about this shift. When Epic Games bought Psyonix, I already knew this would inevitably be the outcome... 💔
whatever they did to the rank system is killing the game for me. ive been steady champ 2 for the past 2 seasons now im diamond 2 and my teammates seem plat while the opponents seem champ passing and flip resetting. its basically win one lose 4 now
You too? It's like an impossible barrier. Bro I legit face Grand Champ title smurfs in one game then the next I got a Gold 3 and a Plat 2.. Make it make sense.
I took a month off after 8 years of playing cause I was just sick of it and mad at epic. Not only got rid of trading but one of my favorite game modes drop shot is either gone or on rotation. Like wtf were they thinking
And don't forget for this season they took Dropshop out of all queues for a while, but kept it in tournaments: you could play a tourney for a mode you couldn't actually queue for otherwise, for weeks and weeks and weeks. I'm not a DS main myself, but I feel bad for those who are. I have tons of time in the game and love it, but I play it less and less now. I thought Rocket Racing was going to be in Rocket League-- I was grinding the monaco-style track in Rax's Rocket Park map, grinding down lap times and BAM! RRacing was in Fortnite. That killed the drive for me. I play FN for FN, not for RL. And then there's all the smurfs. Rainbow 6 just *introduced* trading after 8 years and that community is stoked. It's just depressing whenever I think about grinding in RL for any reason at all. My passion has dwindled, and Epic has done nothing to rekindle it.
Iv'e been playing RL since 2016, and we all knew it was going to go downhill once Epic bought Psyonix, but we didn't think it would be this bad. Sucks to see the game we all love get ruined by corporate greed like this.
I've been at rocket league since 2020, and this shit hurts man. I can't even imagine how it feels for the people getting laid off or the pros. I dreamt of being a pro rocket league player, but this shit makes it difficult to have hope for the future.
@@robdog979 I **was** high champ 3, about to break through into gc, but because I took a month break and this is the shit I came back to? I really can't find the will to get back into the game.
@@AeroDKTthe same happened to me man, but I've been playing since early 2016, tho I got good last year, I was 50 points away from being GC but I quit because I got bored of it and now I'm barely champ jajaj
This reminds me of when one of my favorite games (Echo vr) got deleted. It shows that even though the game was small, the shutdown could've been avoided. This also shows that the same thing can happen with big games as well.
in 2017 i started this game and was a casual, i would just play for fun. Then my friend introduced me into trading and i loved it and when covid hit i took a break. and i got back on and i said to my friend yoooo wanna trade and then he broke the news that trading is gone and note that my account got deleted randomly (apparently because i didn't play enough) which made me mad when i had to make a new account with nothing on it. nice one epic.
Over summer, I played this game so much with my friends and had a blast. But once September rolled around, when Epic started to really kill this game by removing trading, this game really just became not fun to me. My teammate who had been grinding for a year to hit champ 1 quit, I started playing less and less, only playing an hour or two a week and only with my friends, whereas I used to play in free play for 5 hours straight on a Saturday morning with a smile the whole time.
@@scary5455You’ve never played rocket league. You don’t understand, it just wasn’t the same after epic bought it. They only care about money, they don’t even care about the players. It’s evidenced in their actions: removing trading so people have to buy from the item shop, not catering to any of the communities requests, lowering the prize pool for RLCS.. it’s sad. Game had so much potential.
@@scary5455nah rocket league is competitive. Dedicated players want to get better and better but when you can’t see a future for the game it starts feeling like a waste of time and sucks all your motivation away.
I've played fallout 4, witcher 3, skyrim, all multiple times. Time has nothing to do with the longevity of a game, let alone and ONLINE game that can constantly be updated with cool new things. WHat a stupid way to justify what the corp did to kill this game@@scary5455
i think it was on a stale phase for awhile but removing trading put the nail in the coffin, not buying another battle pass until it's back or epic sells the company. Probably wont happen*
This is so true, we need Psyonix back in control, if you played before free to play you know exactly what i'm talking about. This is why my nightmare was Epic Games buying RL and making it so Fortnite - like... At this point it's not even fortnite like, so many people quit genuinely because it's so easy to tell that Epic dosen't give jackshit about Rocket League, they ruined the fanbase, trading community, and the playerbase, soon RLCS is gonna be empty..
I’ve been a player since the beginning as well (off and on) and it’s a game I’ve grown to play with my father, who plays almost no other game but RL. (Neither of us are great, but it’s some of the best fun I have) He’s a fan of you and the pros as well, and it’s been so disappointing to see the game become so stale, and to see some great pros and casters leave. I hope there is more to come for RL 😞
Ive left the game after the removal of trading, sadly things have just gotten worse, cant say I didn’t expect it, but it is still sad to see, thank you for the video musty, glad to see all the frustrations collected in a video.
idky im here i just play fortnite, but i see the impact fortnite has on epic’s other games. Epic has spent too much time on simply just fortnite to let their other amazing games just like rocket league die out. They gotta spread their time more out instead of just fortnite
I hate hearing people say " we need a roadmap." I didnt stop playing because there wasnt a roadmap, i stopped playing because everytime i open the game theres a feature removed or a new bug. I love playing rocket league still but im not going to spend my time grinding to get good at a game that is clearly on its way out
As an ex Esports halo player, the worst this for any games is having a low age range. For me I now have zero physical social life, heavily failed in school and for what just to be called a halo tournament winner. The age range should be for after you finish school grades aren't really that important but they allow you to go to college and university
Back during Halo2, it wasn't even "esports" (a cringe name). It was "professional gaming". We were more akin to professionals than pretending to be athletes. Pretending pro gamers are athletes has always been a mistake
I had this game for so long but only actually got into when I got internet a few years ago. Peaked at grand champ and quit when they removed trading. I never even used trading but I already had a extreme hate for epicgames. It’s really sad, it’s probably the game I enjoyed the most to come home and play.
case in point, for the rlcs qualifiers my friends and I were queuing for a fun few matches, second round lower bracket we versed a team of rlcs regional champs. It's just gotten out of hand
Great points Musty. It's been heartbreaking for me as a long time fan watching the game break down behind the scenes but I still enjoy watching your videos just as much as ever. So at least people like you still exist. When I saw that Squishy was retiring, I genuinely started crying man. It's fucking Squishy... Hopefully unreal engine 5 or something comes out. At this point I'm so done looking at all the decal and dlc news that I just automatically ignore it when RL tweets now. Let's see what happens in the future I guess.
Of course the game in its current state doesn't make much i imagine. And i guess they weren't receiving much profit, even before they made worse decisions for it. But at least in this state they can suck every last penny from it, before they kill it off
I don’t even play Rocket League anymore. I stopped a while back, but I’ve still enjoyed watching content creators like you because I genuinely enjoy your personality. If one day you move on, you’ll still have my viewership.
For me it is simple, trading removed had some impact on me but facing smurfs 3 ranks higher than me just as I am about to rank up, throwing away the hours I put in the game trying to get better. Epic making their game free is cool but they should have made some system against smurfs.
There is not much they can do about smurfs. Theres few things to make smurfing harder. First thing is that u have to lvl up to 10 to play comp and the second is giving new account extreme mmr boosts, so if u win even 9 out of 10 placement games its hard to not reach high champ 1.
last time i played rocket league or even watched any content was around 5 years ago mainly being Kronovi and JonSandman. Seeing the state of the game now is absolutely mind boggling to me as still to this day the memories I have with rocket league have been so awesome. sad asf to see whats happened till now
They took away loot boxes and that hurt.. but to take away trading too😢 I’ve gave at least 5 friends free stuff through trading and they loved it and were hooked.. it seems like it went downhill when epic took over.. idk I’ll always love it but damn they messed up.. Appreciate ya musty you the man🤙
Yeah this isn’t getting talked about enough. We went from paying 20$ for 20 items ($20 for 20 keys which opened 20 crates) to $20 for ONE item (black markets now cost 2k credits, or $20). If that’s not batshi* insane to you, then help me understand why
I do really enjoy the game, but I'm also not amazing at the game and I'm still trying to get better. But I doo feel that it's not amazing as it used to be based off what some of my friends gave said.
surely they'll get the message even though everyone in the community has directly replied to them and shared their negative feedback immediately and they read it
you guys dont understand. One thing is to get the message, another is to LISTEN to the message. Epic Games are not dumb. They get the message very well but they just want fortnite to grow.
I played almost everyday since 2017 and stopped playing at the start of the last season. Tired of the pass, rewards. It need new game modes. New map style. Idk.
The one thing about Rocket League is that there is no other game like it. Not even Epic can screw up the core mechanics of the game. If there is no competition, it will probably never fully "die."
I NEVER traded a single item so removal of trading was never big deal for me. I love Rocket League because you can get in games within 15 seconds and the competition is fierce! I don't feel like the game is dying, but I would love to see an Unreal Engine revamp with high quality graphics.
That’s crazy that they removed trading. I haven’t played in forever but I have soooo many items that I always planned on trading for credits when/if a cool car like the cyber truck comes out. Exactly what I did for the lambo back in 2021
My only other idea as to why they did this besides what musty said is so people buy credits for the item shop instead of trading items they already own
I literally just started playing for the first time January and I love it. Didn’t know any of this and I hope I get to see how ppl first experienced this games. Sounds great
It's an amazing game. One of a kind. Skill gap is massive, but that's what makes it so intriguing. I'm really just hoping epic sell the rights to it instead of killing it off, and whoever they sell to has a passion to keep the game alive. Would be an absolute damn shame if it was to die off.
If people want something to change, you gotta do something that somewhat hurts them, like stop buying any items for weeks or months. That has to be pushed by every creator tho
What the hell, man i never subscribed to musty, i watched him on and off for like 5 years, but this got recommended and mans GREW on youtube holy mustycow. What did he do show his winky to the youtube founders or something haha
New Game Mode Idea: Dodge ball, if a ball hits you you evaporate until your teammate catches it with spikes and then you come back in. The ball itself will bounce back and forth like heat seeker
Rocket League is the only video game I played with my brother who passed away 4 years ago. The pain I feel knowing that Epic Games is destroying this game and not just the game, my beautiful memories with my brother is unforgivable. I really hope another industry saves the game and the community.
I wonder if rocket league will eventually reach a state similar to tf2s state (minus 70% of the player base being bots) with a small but loyal player base that will stick with the game through all the hardship
I had left rocket league not short after the inroduction of blueprints and removal of crates. Although crates were fun i understand the gamling infliction it had. Non the less i returned month ago and although i enjoy playing...it isnt the same. And i have like 7 heatwaves bruh im so sad. Hopefully this message will be the 1st step back in the right direction
Psyonix killed Rocket League they moment they sold out to Epic, I still remember the comments of all Epic fanboys that it's for the better and whatnot for the future, yet now it's really showing.
wanted to make this video not to purely bash Epic Games, but to voice out a lot of concerns from the community that I've seen these last few months in hopes for a better future. looks like they actually came out with a solid update yesterday so I'm hoping for some shift that can really push Rocket League in the direction of it's potential. 2024 is the year that likely makes or breaks Rocket League

"they see us as like customers, not players" musty been too real lately
That hit me really hard too, especially when you see the prices of items in the shop, 2000 credits for a black market decal that looks like sht and also was like 400 credits in rl insider, it seems like rocket league is solwly turning into Venezuela
That's America too. We're not humans, we are consumers. We're not people, we're customers.
They are even failing at that? I'm not going to spend any money if I'm not even playing the game anymore
What’s wild is the communication. I think we can all handle news about layoffs, dropping casters, lack of updates and why, if Epic just talks to us. They’ve dropped bombs on the community with no warning and we have received no good news in return. For any woman out there, this is what getting kicked in the balls feels like

Real shit bro. Real shit. It’s painful.
On the upside, this is showing us all, young and old, how destructive corporate greed is.
no what it showing us is the failure of the consumer, to many of us bought into this fairy tail of battlepasses and microtransactions and lost sight of what was actually important.

@bobbydeclown8430 I hope not.
Epic can kill RL with the snap of a finger, I don't think its fair to blame RL's downfall on Fortnite. Both games could succeed, but that's up to the owners.
Them removing trading was possibly the worst mistake ever in rocket league..

I just think it's fascinating how much the game has fallen off with it's own community. ik I'm just a player who is barely above the average casual player in skill (gc peak once before ssl came out), but even people who put 10k+ hours can't find a reason to keep playing and it's just sad to see
I am 16 and this is EXACTLY like me too

Very well put together video! Huge respect for talking about this from your perspective

in 2017 i started this game and was a casual, i would just play for fun.
I fucking hate that company
Over summer, I played this game so much with my friends and had a blast. But once September rolled around, when Epic started to really kill this game by removing trading, this game really just became not fun to me. My teammate who had been grinding for a year to hit champ 1 quit, I started playing less and less, only playing an hour or two a week and only with my friends, whereas I used to play in free play for 5 hours straight on a Saturday morning with a smile the whole time.
Obviously over time you will not want to play as often
@@scary5455You’ve never played rocket league. You don’t understand, it just wasn’t the same after epic bought it. They only care about money, they don’t even care about the players. Game had so much potential.
@@scary5455People stayed wit it consistently until epic started doing all this bs

i think it was on a stale phase for awhile but removing trading put the nail in the coffin, not buying another battle pass until it's back or epic sells the company.
I thought Epic taking over was a bad move from the getgo, but never expected it to be as bad as it's become
Me too man
Ive left the game after the removal of trading, sadly things have just gotten worse, cant say I didn’t expect it, but it is still sad to see, thank you for the video musty, glad to see all the frustrations collected in a video.
idky im here i just play fortnite, but i see the impact fortnite has on epic’s other games.

Honestly the removal of trading was a final straw for me... They literally just deleted a huge part of the community just so they can profit more
thats true

As an ex Esports halo player, the worst this for any games is having a low age range. For me I now have zero physical social life, heavily failed in school and for what just to be called a halo tournament winner. The age range should be for after you finish school grades aren't really that important but they allow you to go to college and university
and it was 343 I assume, not even real Halo😢
Back during Halo2, it wasn't even "esports" (a cringe name). It was "professional gaming". We were more akin to professionals than pretending to be athletes. Pretending pro gamers are athletes has always been a mistake
sad thing is nobody even knows who you are
I had this game for so long but only actually got into when I got internet a few years ago. Peaked at grand champ and quit when they removed trading. I never even used trading but I already had a extreme hate for epicgames. It’s really sad, it’s probably the game I enjoyed the most to come home and play.
It’s so strange to me how few good games are out there. What a strange time
lol I dont trade either but quit the game for the same reason. I don't like being subjected to bad decisions.
I made it into the video haha 1:04 my goat, was nice to meet you in person!
case in point, for the rlcs qualifiers my friends and I were queuing for a fun few matches, second round lower bracket we versed a team of rlcs regional champs.
It's almost like they look directly at community feedback and are like "nah, that doesn't matter we like money"
They just did btw now all party members must be higher than lvl 20 to play comp which will take 2 days to get

Not much changed. Besides the community and the shop trade, it’s still Rocket League and you can play its main modes.
hopefully they actually get the message
pff yeah right
surely they'll get the message even though everyone in the community has directly replied to them and shared their negative feedback immediately and they read it
you guys dont understand. One thing is to get the message, another is to LISTEN to the message. Epic Games are not dumb. They get the message very well but they just want fortnite to grow.

The one thing about Rocket League is that there is no other game like it. Not even Epic can screw up the core mechanics of the game. If there is no competition, it will probably never fully "die."

they can just shut down the servers if it's literally costing them more to run them.
Its already dead

I NEVER traded a single item so removal of trading was never big deal for me. I love Rocket League because you can get in games within 15 seconds and the competition is fierce! I don't feel like the game is dying, but I would love to see an Unreal Engine revamp with high quality graphics.
I agree 100%
Started playing regularly in 2021, the smurfs and constant server issues, the game has become borderline unplayable.
That’s a double edged sword. Epic would more than likely say “welp game is dead let’s pull the plug”
