I love my 6400, I bought it new when it came out with a kit lens for $1,400. I use it alongside my FX30 for shoots, and it holds up really well.
I’ve shot commercials with it, regularly film and photograph sports (Motocross ALOT), wildlife, street, portraits, the 6400 can do it all.
SLog3 is unusable in the 6400 due to its 8bit sensor it does not produce the correct colors and it becomes very soft. Slog2 is definitely usable but it’s still softer than Cine 2, and while it’s not exactly the same as SLog3 in the FX30 it can be very easily matched to FX30 SLog3 very closely to where the majority of people will have no idea.
Cine 2 is hands down the best color profile on the 6400 and will give the best image from the camera in 4K and especially 1080P. I’ve made some custom tweaks to my Cine 2 color profile to make it even better, if anyone wants to know the setting let me know, maybe I could make a video on it too.
I’ve also tweaked setting on a custom Cine 4 color profile that is an almost identical match to the FX30 S-Cinetone color profile, not only does it match but it looks really good straight out of camera.
The A6400 has been the best purchase made when I started my video and photo company and 3 years into my journey it’s still going strong.
I want the 6700 but, I’m holding off for now, and I’ll probably hang onto the 6400 until it dies. 🫶🏻🤘🏻😎

I cant agree more with the cine2 statement! I love the lens options aspect of the a6700. You can get a lot of good quality aps-c lenses on a budget.

Thanks for the video. I've been using the zv-e10 for 3 or 4 months now and I really love it. Been using Panasonic cameras for 3 years now and the autofocus on Sony cameras is far superior. Watching videos like yours only proves that I made the right decision in this little bad boy. Just to let you know that I've recorded videos over an hour long with no problem or hitting any time type of recording limit. According to Sony, the unit can record continuously for 13 hours. And for storage, the zv-e10 can support a 1 TB memory card. Love your videos and keep up the great work.

On the a6400, all the 10 Picture Profiles are completely adjustable and the adjustments can be saved. So you can re-define the way the image recorded (both for stills and for video) looks. That means you should be able to perfectly match the "look" of the a6400 to the zve10. Actually, the zve10 might also have this ability. I have never checked. The adjustments are very wide ranging, so that I believe I could match the Canon R50, Nikon Z50 and probably the Panasonic Lumix G85. You will notice I am naming the lower line cameras. I am very confident about matching those. I would not be surprised if the latest, highest model cameras might have capabilities that exceed the adjustment of the a6400. On the other hand, the latest, highest Sony could probably match most of the other current highest models.

    • @thefilmalliance
      @thefilmalliance  ปีที่แล้ว +4

Good point but imagine how many tests it would take to get the picture profiles exactly right as a color match. I’m sure you could do it but that would be quite the undertaking IMO

Another great video! If you remember, I purchased the A6400 due to one of your previous videos comparing the SV-E10 and the A6400. I am so glad I chose the A6400 as I also take photos I am a bit limited to the kit lens until i save up some money to purchase a few proper lenses. Yes, you can charger the A6400 through the micro usb port. It does not come with a separate battery charger which sucks but not a show stopper. In Canada the SV-E10 is $1000 CAD and the A6400 is $1350 CAD. EVF is a must for photography. Keep it up and maybe see about a "must have " lens for every budget video. Thank again

To me the photos on the zve10 look better than the 6400 and the m50ii looks better than the zve10 based on what you showed. The 6400 looks over exposed correct me if I’m wrong, it’s like HDR on the zv and just reg sdr on the 6400; after finishing the video it looks like the 6400 is more true to life vs the ZV darkens the photo to make it look more sexy, great video nevertheless I appreciate your passion and illustration of communication to us on how you felt. I feel like I should pay you for this review.

you can always add contrast as you wish in post, but not remove... all professional cameras are shooting with low contrast to be able to adjust picture as you want later. So less contrasty a6400 images is a big plus here, at least for me.

I think for me, only being into cameras for 2 years it comes down to lenses. I can get the E10 and a Sigma 30mm prime for the price of the a6400. It is the same problem I have with the E1 vs a6700, buying the 6700 allows me to get some great lenses for the $800 savings of not going full frame. In this case the E10 and the a6400 are almost the same camera, one is just $200 more. I mean in the end you will end up buying the same lens no matter which you buy. I vote for the cheaper body.

Have both the cameras, what stopped me from selling my a6400 is the fact that the image out of the a6400 looks more analog'ish or filmic than the zve10. You are absolutely right there, cannot be described in words but the zve10 image is a little more digital or sharper natively.

Mainly to do videos for my band (music videos, behind the scenes stuff, podcasting, possibly vlogging). Ive been interested in the zv-e10, but also looking at the Z30, R50, M50, A6400, A6600, or the A6700. I’m in sunny central CA, so the heat and bright days make me think something that won’t overheat and has a viewfinder would be helpful, but I know I’m probably overthinking it. 😅 Any thoughts?

Looks life video intensive stuff. And Sony's Autofocus is industry leading, so don't bother looking another brand. ZV-E10 is not weather sealed, you wouldn't risking it for expensive repair. A6700 actually a game changer for APS-C line up, plus it got that Z100 battery for ~2 hours 4K shooting. It will last for years to come with all the features.

Thanks for your video. YES the ZV-E10 can be charged over USB-C. There is a difference in charging spped, whether you are charging over USB 2.0 vs a native USB-C to USB-C fastcharge cable or wirth USB-A to USB-C on an Samsung AC-DC converter for Smartphones with fast-charge capability. Both last options are faster than charging over the old USB-A 2.0 PC-port.

To me it seemed that the video quality of the 6400 looked very washed out compared to the ez. It looks like the contrast turned up a bit. I’m also debating between these 2 and fujifilm. I want to do mainly street photography and landscape photography when I travel. Not into getting too many lenses. I WAS actually confused about which to buy. I was contemplating whether to buy A6100 , A6400, and/or ZVE10.
I had a6000 before but sold it off. I really want to uograde to a camera that has articulating / selfie screen and at the same time , not bulky.

🎯 Key Takeaways for quick navigation:
[00:00] 🤖 *The a6700 is a great camera, but it's out of budget for many people. The a6400 and ZV-E10 are both viable options for under $1,000.*
[00:29] 🎥 *I've owned the ZV-E10 for almost two years and have used it on all different types of video shoots. I've also used the a6400, and it's a great camera too.*
[00:57] 🔍 *Both cameras have a 24-megapixel sensor and can shoot in 4K up to 30fps and 1080p up to 120fps.*
[01:12] 📸 *The lenses I'll be using for both cameras are the 16-50mm f/3.5-5.6 and the 35mm f/1.4.*
[01:40] 🤔 *I hope this video helps you make a purchase decision if you're interested in buying one of these two cameras.*

    [02:21] 📋 *I rented the a6400 from Lens Rentals so that I could do a side-by-side comparison.*

[03:46] ✨ *It really just depends on what you want to use the camera for.*
[04:00] 🎶 *Finding the right music is one of the hardest parts about creating a video. TrackClub allows you to infinitely customize the stems of any song.*
[04:43] 🎬 *Try it out for yourself with a free one month full access trial.*
[04:57] 📱 *The ZV-E10 has a flip screen, while the a6400 has a tilt screen.*
