    Nice rundown, but imho a couple of others are worth mentioning.
    1. Sony 18-135. People crap on it because it was a kit lens and because of its standalone price but I've yet to find a lens that combines range, stabilization and this level of sharpness in a package this small (~60% the size + weight of the 18-105!) on APSC or FF... It really is a unique offering and when I tested it vs the Tamron 17-70, it was at least on par optically across the overlapping range. Bonus: it has some semi-macro abilities at 135mm most people overlook.
    2. The old Sony 35mm f1.8. Great all purpose lens and super tiny! Granted I preferred the Sigma 30 myself but with its OSS, the Sony 35 is a great little all-purpose option
    3. The Sony 20 2.8. Definitely not the sharpest or brightest, but basically allows you to turn your a6x00 camera into a point and shoot size wise and is very inconspicuous for street photography. If size is king, you'd be hard pressed to find smaller.

    I know its old but the Sony 18-105mm F4 is a go to lens. Picture isn't as perfect as some newer lens, but it's weight is balanced no matter the zoom since it doesn't extend. Basically set it and forget it, perfect for video.

      when I slightly shake lens then hear and feel some movement from inside lens...someone said it's focus motor shaking and this is normal.

    Man I love my 2 ZVE10’s. I had a budget of $2,500 for a camera. Initially I was going to get 1 nice camera. But realized two ZVE10’s with the Sigma trio lens (16, 30, 56 1.4) would be more productive for youtubing.

      Hmmm your making me think…. I was looking at the fx30 with the 10-20 f4 lens. I currently use a few GoPros(I know but it’s what I have….)

    • @van94weightlossjourney
      @van94weightlossjourney ปีที่แล้ว +13

      @@yjforlife For my YourTube stuff, even the ZVE10 is overkill IMHO from a quality perspective. The Sigma trio lenses gives me all the bokeh that I want and light sensitivity so I can run low iso for smoothness. If I bring it all the way up to 1.4 I literally get too much bokeh that it’s comical or how another channel calls it… Toneh.
      I have one camera permanently placed on my tripod which is rigged up with a prompter, 7” monitor facing me (I don’t waste my time with the flip screen on the camera), all of my mic cabling and external battery power.
      The second ZVE10 I use as my run and gun camera. What I like is the color science is exactly the same. The flexibility is huge. While I’m not a pro, there’s a reason why most pro shoots use multiple same cameras.
      For $2,500 for two good 4K cameras, 2 zoom optical stabilizes lenses, and 3 1.4 lenses, it’s a lot of value. I rented a Sony A7 full sensor dslr from borrowlenses with 2 G master lenses that retailed over $7K to test. I got great videos however not ONE person could tell a difference. Even watching on my 70” tv no one could tell. Personally I could tell but it had to be on the big screen and making sure TH-cam was streaming 4K. Even then, man it was like splitting hairs.
      PS. I do all of my shoots on 4K, edit and post 4K. Unfortunately on most people’s mobile phones, 90% of the time TH-cam is streaming the video at 1080p.

      My stuff is more run and gun ( @asimplelife ) so I really only need an “A” camera I was thinking since I grade all my GoPro footage, I would go with something that can give me 10bit log or maybe s-cinetone… I know it’s just going on TH-cam so… thanks for the feed back it’s kind of the direction I have been leaning

    After simplifying my travel kit a lot, and because I hate changing lenses when i’m out and about, I’ve noticed I love picking up my 18-135 as a do it all lens, with my A6600 rather than either my sigma 18-50 or the tamron 17-70.
    When I use the sigma I want more reach and miss the lens stabe to record handheld video, when I carry the tamron I get annoyed with the weight and bulk…
    If I know I’m going to do wildlife, then I replace the 18-135 with the 70-350. I love that lens so much!
    I leave the ZV at home as my studio / office camera with either the sigma or the tamron. I live in the UK, so the camera I take outside the home needs to handle a bit of rain.
    And lately, I’ve noticed myself replacing the sony 11mm with the DJI Action 4 for selfies and wide angle shots…
    Compactness, light weight and no fussing around in order to stay in the moment, while capturing good memories with friends and family.

    Amazing little lens. I had zero experience with manual focus so i was super hesitant picking up an all manual lens, but thanks to a few reviews and camera crisis i mustard up the courage and picked one up and i couldn't be happier with it. Focus is smooth, picture is impressive. Was a great introduction to manual photography. Will definitely keep my eye out for another manual recommendation down the road.

  • @luism.2050
    @luism.2050 ปีที่แล้ว +11

    Nice overview !
    My travel setup is now after experimenting with some alternative lenses:
    - 2 ZV e10 inside their silicone grip Smallrig cages (a must for larger hands to hold the zv comfortably)
    I’m waiting for a worthy affordable update to the a6600, or a photocentric fx30… or I will bite the bullet and get the a7iv if I find a good deal
    - sony remote + sony mini-tripod remote
    Lens lineup:
    - Sony 11 f1.8 (preferred to Sigma 16 f1.4): This lens is essentially my selfie lens with family, friends. This lens is permanently mounted on my 2nd body with the sony remote tripod… The lens is also great for astro, real-estate, car interiors…
    - Tamron 17-70: just a bit bulky with the zv, but the versatility makes it a main stay on my primary ZV. 25-105 f4 full frame equivalent, with lens stabilisation. I love this lens for everything I photograph or film. Preferred to the sigma 18-50 I got initially: the 50 to 70mm gap was surprisingly frustrating for the way I shoot; and the lack of stab with the zv, kind of negated the f2.8 in low light, forcing to either increase SS or ISO. I have kept it though as a future studio lens. I also prefer the Tamron to Sony 18-135 I got initially: constant faster aperture and better IQ. Lastly, the high minimum focusing distance and the f4 of the 18-105 made me return it.
    - Sony 70-350: the best apsc telephoto lens of the market by far, and the initial reason why I switched out of Canon ef-m. Extremely sharp, light weight, compact, great stab, fast focusing… this lens was a system seller for me.
    (I adore the sigma 56mm… but I really hate swapping lenses when I’m out and about, as a result the Tamron 17-70 is also used as my main portrait lens)

    I used to have a manual Pentax camera and carried it with me everywhere. Taking pictures was part of my everyday life until I accidentally left it on a seat on the Skytrain in Vancouver. I checked lost and found for weeks to no avail. After I lost it I never bothered replacing it. Fast forward to today. I purchased the ZV-E10 a few months ago and it's been sitting in a box ever since. In the new year I want to get out there again and am thinking about buying a lens for it. I'm hoping you can point me in the right direction. I'll be using it mainly for videos but also street / architecture photography. I need a lens that excels in moody outdoor low light conditions such as clouds, grey skies, thunder storms, rain, fog, early mornings and evening dusk and is also good at night time where I will be using distant street lamps, candles or campfires as my only source of light. Thanks and happy new year.

    * Sony FE 16-35mm f/4 PZ G Lens - the f4 is a bit annoying but generally a really great quality all round lens for outdoors
    * Tamron 35-150mm F/2-2.8 Di III VXD - a beast and versatile.
    * Sigma 18-50mm f/2.8 - is on its way to me now 😎
    * TTArtesian 50 mm f/1.2 manual focus - was super cheap and some cool character . The 1.2 is nice too
    * 7Artisans 35mm f/0.95 - super cheap, is manual focus but 0.95 is 🔥
    * Viltrox AF 13 f1.4 - use as my selfie lens and also on my a5100 that I use as a webcam
    * Sony 11mm 1.4 - on its way as we speak 😎

    viltrox is amazing for video and smooth aperture ring gives an edge .but for photo is not so fast and sometimes misses the moving subject .preferable of f2.2 and above for losing vignette and rendition,also reminds me of sony lenses in colours more colder..
    but the new sony 35 fe f1.8 is the best of all.swift,accurate,color rendering,and supports eye af for older bodies like the a6300!!i find for talking heads, interviews,etc is the number one .(due to no distortion, feeling of the scene etc.)
    85 fe f1.8 also makes serious compression on aps c..

    My current lineup:
    Tamron 11-20 f2.8 - replaced my Sigma 16 (loved the image quality of the Sigma, but can’t justify the bulk and weight for a single FL). The Tamron has good range and sharpness, but sub par flare control in my opinion.
    Sony 16-55 g f2.8 - my newest addition. Not the sharpest lens i have, but it performs very good throughout the zoom range, so I don’t need to worry about ‘the sweet spot’ so much. It’s heavier than I would like, but so far it seems to be worth the price (bought it used)
    Sigma 56 f1.4 - my favourite lens still after 5 years. Small, sharp and fast. If I don’t know what I’m shooting, i’ll bring this one. Good for portraits (obviously) but i also use it for street, food, and close ups (It took me months to get use to the focal length, though)
    Sony 70-350 g - I use this lens for birds and landscapes. Sharp and fast focusing, and quite light for what it offers.
    I shoot mostly stills, and i do crop sometimes (bird photos), so i tend to value sharpness above other aspects.

    I think the line up should 10-18mm or 10-20mm f4, 11mm f1.8 for vlogging, 18-105 f4 and 18-55 f2.8, for telephoto you should save up to get the 70-200mm fe f4 or f2.8 (on aps-c this would be 105 to 300mm equivalent). that has all the focal lengths covered. there may be other lenses that are a bit more special, but that has you going really good. the 56mm f1.4 sigma or the sony 85mm f1.8 or the sony 15mm f1.4, sony 200-600mm ... etc. Basically 3 lenses that can do all (10-18mm, 18-105mm and 70-200mm). when you master them, you can decide what would help you from there on.
    vlogging on aps-c is great, 11mm f1.8, 10-18mm f4 oss, 10-20mm f4, 15mm f1.4, sony has you covered. Also sigma, 16mm f1.4. there are others brand options too, possibilities are endless.
    for portraits: 50mm f1.8, sigma 56mm f1.4, sony 85mm f1.4, sony 18-105mm does a bit of everything.
    For wildebeast:70-200, 400mm, 600mm, 200-600mm. there are a tone of other tamron/sigma options in this field.

    Great video! Sigma trio + sigma 18-50 are most likely what 95% of people need unless you’re into wildlife photography. Any thoughts on buying a gimbal vs. a 360 camera? Thinking that the latter could boost creative shots beyond what a gimbal could do.

    Hey! You and other youtubers have convinced me that the zv-e10 is the best camera for me to buy. That decision is made.
    Now i'm debating on whether I should buy the kit lens, or another lens. I want to use my camera for "vlogging". I want to film myself in my room, and I want to film myself hiking doing survival stuff at the mountain.
    I will also buy a gimble (Moza mini P max).
    Do you think I should buy the kit lens, or the Sony 11mm f1.8 lens? I like the idea of having a wide angle lens...

    • @MarkBennettCameraCrisis
      @MarkBennettCameraCrisis  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      it’s always good to have the kit for a backup and other lens. It can come in handy and buying it with the camera is really cheap. plus, it makes a difference when it’s time to sell the camera.

    I just love your videos sir.. QUICK QUESTIONS :
    My purpose is food and beverage videography in low light conditions eg: at a fancy bar + portrait shots of models else where. So For zv e10 which lense will you strongly recommend? Also
    1) is f2.8 good for low light conditions with maybe an extra source of light ?
    IF YES THEN
    a) with f2.8 should I buy the sigma 18-50 or tamron 17-70?
    IF NOT then
    Should I buy 2 lenses :
    b) sigma 30 mm 1.4 which gives me better f and a
    2) song 50mm 1.8 for portrait shorts of models
    Please help I’m soooooo confused :(
    Thanks I’m advance sir. Big fan !

    • @MarkBennettCameraCrisis
      @MarkBennettCameraCrisis  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I would recommend the Sigma 56 for portraits and the 30 for general shooting, you’re going to need that 1.4 I. lower light.

    • @harshbhavsaar2283
      @harshbhavsaar2283 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for your prompt response sir, how ever I still haven’t understood if for food videography which needs closer shots a 56mm or a 30mm will work . Instead of an all purpose lense with lower mm and a f2.8 aperture like an 18-50mm

    HI nice work and thanks for your videos. What do you think of the Sony Zeiss Sonnar T* E-mount 24/1,8 and the Sony E 18-200mm f/3,5-6,3 OSS LE? How would they rank among the equivalent you go through in this video? All best

    • @MarkBennettCameraCrisis
      @MarkBennettCameraCrisis  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      They are both older lenses but will still perform well, especially the 24. the question is if you can find them and how much you can find them for because full price is too expensive

    • @ManuelParodiRamos
      @ManuelParodiRamos ปีที่แล้ว

      That´s why I asked, because they both appear in my area. Just over 300 american dollars (3200 swedish crowns) the 18-200 and around 380 dollars (4000 crowns) the 24. Considering that a new sigma 16 costs here around 430 dollars...it´s the first objective camera crisis I´m sure you remember!

    Great video, I have a Sony a6600 and want to get the Fx30 and a FF camera like the A7S3, AIV, or ARV. It’s all about what I’m willing to spend but I would like to know how much better full frame is than crop sensor in bokeh, low light, and overall image quality. I know going to 10bit color from 8bit would be a step up in overall quality. But it would be great seeing a video comparing full frame to crop sensor. If I upgrade, it would be a huge cost, I just want to know or at least get an idea of how much better it would be.
