One thing worth noting is that if you're interested in building this rig, test out the phone connection as a monitor first because I know a lot of people have problems with connections and frame drops. If you're looking for a cheap monitor to add instead I've added 2 in the description. 1 is my fav cheap monitor by portkeys, and another is currently on sale for only $60
@@-smok5332yes, the adaptor that goes on the lens has threads on it so you can screw a ND filter too it, you can also use the square filters. I have a UV square filter and a circular ND filter on mine.

Nice rig. Will get the amateur to start thinking like a pro. One way to make a client think your cheap setup is an expensive camera with all those parts attached. Excellent video, really enjoyed it.
Monitor+ can work via hdmi. Camera -> hdmi cable -> cheap usb hdmi capture device (looks like flash stick, and 1080p enough) -> usb a to c otg cable -> smartphone. This setup doesn't lag instead of sony app via wi-fi.
This camera was not on my radar before I started watching your channel. It looks like a nice option that would tick off some check marks that I have when looking to upgrade my current camera (Canon Rebel T5). Thank you for excellent content that is relevant and thoughtful.
Great video but mythed about the phone monitor. You have a screen on the side of the camera that rotates and flips? Isn’t that best to just use as a monitor? No lag and has access to all menus and settings

Supposedly one can use circular filters with it (hoping my freewell VND will worik). Can also stack 2 standard 4x5.65 filters if you are considering growth and adding to your rig later.

This looks almost exactly how my ZVE10 rig looks! I do have a Viltrox DC-550 monitor but I also use the image app when I need a secondary screen. I love people’s reactions when they see my rig lol it adds to my excitement of building rigs😅

i have the Portkeys PT5ii. do not get it if you plan to use it outside! do not get it if you expect a responsive UI. Its cheap, its basic, it gets the job done most of the time but its not a great monitor by any streach of imagination. if you can afford it Viltrox DC-550 sounds much better on paper and its the one i want to try next

I want to do some video/photo work for businesses (cofee shops/restaurants / car dealerships... ) And do u think that the 4k 60 + new ai focus on a6700 will really stand out and matters for what I'm going to use the camera for
Between the a7iii and a7c the main thing is whether you need the flip out screen or the dual card slots. Both good cameras, but yeah the auto focus is pretty fantastic on the a6700, plus you’ll get more background blur with those lenses than the 24-70 f2.8. Realistically you can’t go wrong with either choice, they’ll both produce a great image, depends on what kinda price you can get them for

I use my Xperia 1V as an external monitor. (Not for ZVE10) I can connect it with HDMI and have a 4k HDR Monitor without latancy. Sony also has an app for the use as external monitor. And with the display in creator mode, you see exacly what you get. I also use it when I have to shoot in 4k HDR 120 fps for slomotions. For videoproduction, Xperia phones are really great. A video like this for the black magic pocket cinema camera 6k G2 would be nice. xD
just find dummy battery for your specific camera or if your camera does support AC power in via on camera usb port that is even better. For the dummy battery just get the ones that can either be plugged in thru the D-tap or usb port on the battery plate. As for direct AC power in, make sure to get PD cable if your camera have usb c and does support PD input
@@thomasjmcclure yeah changed it a little anyway, just bought my camera and only came with a stock lens so I also ordered sigma 16&30mm lens (got rid of the monitor and battery momentarily for the lens)

I did this a rig similar to this one week ago.. The only difference is i use cable to connect the camera to the phone. Then by using OBS Ninja, suddenly i have a wireless video transmitter
So the EV10 does not have image stabilization built in. So this camera./ rig will always have to be on a tripod or monopod. So I get why it's called a cinema rig because it will most likely be controlled filming like cinema. I also see now why some may say this is over kill.
Almost all actual cinema cameras don’t have image stabilization. That’s where the rig comes in, the weight acts as a stabilizer in a sense, makes for much nicer hand held footage. The main problem with the zve10 handheld isn’t the shakiness, it’s that the rolling shutter can be a bit of a problem of you’re doing fast paced movement
@@thomasjmcclure Alright, now that I have looked up what a rolling shutter is... I don't think that will be a problem for the type of content I am trying to make. (Interview/ B roll based for business clients). I will invest in this cheaper rig setup and see if that helps with my shaky handheld video. I have a mono pod and the DJI ronni mini 3 gimbal. The gimbal is hard to use effectively at this stage. Maybe I will double up with the rig and mono pod if I still have issues. Or is that over kill? The B roll is coming out shaky. Thanks!

Personally I think building cinema rigs for mirrorless is silly, but that is exactly why I love it!!! Adds a lil personality to your camera set up and it changes overtime as you get more settled as a videographer/cinematographer. Great vid, no matter the price point seeing someone rig out their camera always make me smile. Good luck to the give away persons

The zve10 plus a Helios is a great combo! If you ever get a chance to find a used one cheap, a Viltrox speed booster with it is awesome

So the Electronic stabilization with this rig and A dedicated gimbal without the rig? Which would be a better choice?
So I personally don’t enjoy using gimbals, thats the main reason why I build rigs, but if you like gimbals, go for that!

Yes except the cage. You would need a cage specifically for the mark ii. And maybe a nato rail to add onto the top if the cage doesn’t have one

Yeah you would just need a cage specific to the zve10 ii. And if that cage doesn’t have a nato rail on top, you’d need to add one
