I love that shooting with film makes you push past the fear of imperfections and simply try to capture the moment --and then move on. There's no checking to see if it came out right or deleting an image that didn't turn out as you hoped and the only way to improve at your craft is to DO your craft. And I love that you are having fun doing your craft. Thank you for the good example 🙏🏻
i love the photo of the man in the doorway, especially becasue of the story behind that haha. there are so many times that I see how good a photo can be of a complete stranger and bail just like that haha glad you were able to go back and capture that moment!
This was such a lovely video. I've also (almost) exclusively been shooting b&w lately as well, partly inspired by your decision to do so. I just find that I can express myself better when I'm not worrying about color

Recently picked up a Minolta Xg-M and getting inspiration from your videos and channel. Great work and awesome seeing film with travels. Film has a such a great aesthetic 💯
Love the shots from Coney Island. I live on the Jersey Shore and the vast majority of what I shoot is resort areas in the offseason. There's a magic to these places that's hidden when they're filled with tourists. They're interesting with tourists too, but give me a boardwalk in December and I'm happy. I even put out of zine (first of a planned series) of photos shot down the shore in the offseason.
I love that Pentax 645 you’re shooting. It’s the perfect blend of auto and manual with easy toggles and it’s the only camera I own that I don’t feel guilty about NOT shooting ( like the Hassy ) because I shoot the Pentax constantly. Try the 35mm 3.5. The close focus is about 12 inches to the film plane. It’s my favorite camera! ( shhhh ! ) You got some VERY nice shots there !!!

Super fun! Photography plus road trips is such a combination. I really love the Pentax 645 shots. Last time I was in Coney Island, I was fitting it in at the end of a trip so it was like 7AM on a rainy October morning, but there were still those crazy winds blowing the sand across the beach.
Love your channel. Already decided to give up digital. Looking for courage to put a new battery and some film into my old Yashic T4 and see if if still works. Back then I never missed a shot with that cheap Contax.

How you like shooting with the Pentax 645, I’ve had mine since 1992. Up until 2005ish I used mine solely for Landscape photography. Then I tried digital and just hated that format. Then bought a Nikon F3, love that camera too but have a real issue trying to get focus. My eyes aren’t what they used to be. I’d love to find a 6x6 but they to damn expensive so it’s going back to my 645 for me. Great video and awesome images!

I love the photos you got on Portra 800 in the harsh morning light. Sometimes loading the wrong film can still yield great results.
