This will make you sad. Your experience at KEH is the way every good camera store used to be. Buying a camera was a different experience back in the day. Congratulations, and thanks for the great video! I love your pictures, by the way.
The notches on the top left of the frame (horizontal shots) indicate to me that your camera has seen pro use in its life. Usually these were put there to let the photo dept know which photographer to credit or which camera to service if there were problems with the images by the different patterns on the edge of the frame. I have two F3s, great camera. Remember some spare batteries.
Ooooh, I was wondering why those were there! I wasn’t mad about it haha. I love them actually, but it is so interesting. Thank you!!!
Thanks for the explanation! I was wondering why there were notches :)
@berniecram8347 Can you explain how the notches are etched into the camera?
@@theraven6836As I remember they, either the photographer or the camera department, used to file these notches into the edge of the film gate
@@ashleycarr2899 Thank you. I didn't know this before.
Even though you were in Atlanta, those shots in the park had a real Central Park NYC vibe to them.
You have a well cared for pro camera. The four notches indicate it was the 4th camera for whoever previously owed it. We use to do that 'back in the day' so if one body failed we would quickly know which one needed to go in for repair. I used F3 cameras for years as a photojournalist. Have fun with it!
Really nice video. Thanks for taking us on your photo journey and reminding us why we love photography.
A camera that feels so natural to you is truly the best. Loved the walking section🫶🏽and the photos of just people enjoying their day
Finding a camera that gels with you when you shoot it is such a great feeling. It’s something that looking at specs or watching reviews won’t ever replace.
I have MANY cameras, but recently pulled out my old Konica Autoreflex TC with 40mm f/1.8 and found it a joy to shoot even though on paper it doesn’t tick many boxes for me.
Great set, great video.
I’m in your video!! I found you randomly in my recommended and just happened to watch this and I saw myself 😂 small world indeed. Your work is amazing and I’m a huge (new) fan.
Love your videos and have loved following along with your year of B&W! Picked up a Nikon fm2n last year and it’s become a fantastic daily carry.
Yesss so beautiful. And congrats on the new camera.🌸✨
Loved filmstock and seeing all the photographers!
One of the things I love about the F3 is the sheer volume of accessories available. Shooting waist level with the viewfinder off is good, but Nikon made a waist level finder for some extra magnification and dust protection. I also bought a Type E focusing screen that I adore. Really easy to personalize it to make it the ultimate shooting experience.
Lovely images and a great soundtrack! Makes all the difference ❤
That was really a wonderful and refreshing video preparation. Thank you so much.😊
Great video! Been shooting film for 40 years loved your art. And the music was fantastic! Thank you!
your vids are great, extremely soothing and calming
Great video & music, always look forward to your next videos. Good to see your enjoying the F3, I like using them so much, I have 3! Thanks 😊
The whole section of you tooling around the city and shooting is fantastic. It felt calming to watch. I know how much effort goes into filming yourself shooting like that, and it just came across like a lovely day with some great shots.
Hope you're doing well 😊
this hits hard. thank you ⚡️
Artists.. the salt of the earth.. God bless you!
Awesome shots. Love the pictures from the Nikon. Another fun video to tag along with you on.
Bought my F3 a few years ago because I fell in love with one way back when I was a teenager. The LCD and light quit working, but I'm still in love with it and feel like that just gives it more character. Great camera.
My first love of photography began in 1975 when I took a course in photography. Naturally, I was not familar with the aspect of artistic and development at first, however, the more I progressed, it became a lifetime fascination. Today, I enjoy digital and learning software to enhance my photographs, but nothing beats the nostalgia with 35mm camera development and printing. FYI, last week, I have purchased a F3 from a seller on Facebook Market Page and shooting with Ilford XP2 super 400 film.
My current fav camera is my nikon FG, and i absolutely love that little thing. It's like the little baby brother of the F3, so I can see why you're enjoying it
Love the shots of Atlanta taken with a camera like the F3 I used to know in the 80s. The temporary red fingernails were an interesting effect early in the video, then gone on the day hanging out waiting on the flight to depart that evening. Unique.
I dig the self-portraits. That removable viewfinder is fun!
love every bits of this video! also love your hat!
Thank you a brilliant video, bad weather and floods for a few days in the UK and this properly made me smile. My daughter lives in LA and is also into her film photography and I have sent her the link she will love it. Thanks again from the UK, inspirational video :)
Your makeshift tripods in the hotel room are so great. I love it all, keep it up.
It was sick meeting you in ATL! Took your portrait and now that we've met, I've watched a few of your videos. Good content and keep it up!
My absolute favorite camera. I have a pair of F3s that I’ve used all over the world. They can handle anything. Enjoy! Great video!
The Nikon F3 is my favorite 35mm SLR. A friend let me borrow hers for a year and I fell in love. She asked for it back and the desire to shoot film has gone down because the experience isn’t the same. I am definitely in the market to buy my own F3.
THIS! I think I am more, “camera lover” than photographer. There are certain cameras I enjoy using exponentially more than others, the Pentax 67 and Nikon F3 immediately come to mind.
Taylor! These are beautiful! I have had an F3 for about two years now and have not played around with the self-timer. I can say that will probably change pretty soon :)
It was so good meeting you! Thank you for 19 minutes of phenomenal vibes once again. Also… the music 🤌🏽🤌🏽 Yes. Just yes.
Thank you new friend 😭❤️🔥 get that F3 out!
Wow! Fun video, really enjoyed this. Well done.
Nice meeting you during the meet! Great video as always!!
Many thanks for a fantastic video, I have just purchased an F3 and now shot my first film in years, yet to development, am looking forward to the results, you’re video was an inspiration thanks again,
from Kay in the UK. Cheers
Great video! I just shipped my F3/T off to California to get repaired....can't wait to get it back.
I picked up a FM2N from KEH recently, but just over the internet. On the late checkout front, you may also be able to check bags with the concierge or front desk, and pick them up later. Assuming your hotel is in a convenient enough location. 🤷♂️😸
I do love a hotel room at night. Something very cozy about it.
Anyway those studio photos were terrific. I had an F3 once. I should have kept it.
This was my main camera for YEARS. I still bust it out occasionally It's one of the pinnacles of Nikon's history. (Controversial at the time because of the electrics - the Nikon F and F2 were 100% mechanical except for the light meters inside their "photomic" prisms.) Great stuff! Keep up the good work!
Wow wow wow! Such beautiful images! Ugh! Now I'm staring at the 3200 stock!
ooooo hell yeah, I had one of those back in the day too :) Great video, as always
I got to go to the photo walk in Atlanta! I visited the event from out of state and it was such a fun way to explore the city with my camera
Your videos are so therapeutic, and when I see a notification from you, I feel relieved. The 3200 shots were scintillating!
This is the sweetest comment I’ve ever seen?
@@graincheck HAHA! You also made my day on Instagram, where you liked one of my stories where I tagged you! 😭❤️
I'm thankful that the new generation of photographers have an option to make exposure decisions themselves, and not have to scroll a screen menu !! I bought my F3 before digital and still have it. I've never had any problems with the camera body. The camera is precise and well built, but I've never abused it. Long live the F3 !!!
I had an F3 many years ago, loved it
I just love your videos! Each time I see one I just want to shoot film! ❤
F3 is a wonderful camera. Congrats. Great to see people digging film and shooting old cameras. You make me miss film. Oh to re-build my darkroom!
I don't know how I've never noticed you have a channel but I'm glad i found it! Love the layers in the shot at 12:19. (Can't wait to see you shoot color next year)
black and white is king, especially in action, mood, and culture...I never used a manual Nikon 35mm...
Just discovered your channel as a rec from Thomas Heaton's videos (he was also in Andalusia) and I absolutely love your style of shooting! Incredibly inspired. Especially because I moved to Atlanta a year ago, and haven't taken the time to do a walk like this since I moved. I always feel more courage to photo-walk when I'm out traveling, but since ATL is now home, it's somehow much more intimidating. Thanks for waking me up to the opportunities and beauty here :)
Yes, I bought an F3 because of this video! I love it already, I can't wait to really get into it!
YUSSSSSSS
So cool, well done! 👍👍👍👍
I picked up a lovely F3T from Japan...picked up some used manual glass and off i'm going! The very best of luck with the new Machine!
Great video! Loved the song at the end 🕺
I love doing skate fotos in E6 film. Fuji Provia or Velvia. I use the F3 and F5 for E6 film. Love em!
Ah, the good ole' F3. I still have two bodies and a pair of MD-4 motor drives. They were used (abused) relentlessly through the 1980s and into the early 1990s when I worked as a newspaper photojournalist and freelancer. I'm sure the number of rolls of film I ran through them is easily in the thousands! And yet, inspired by all you film freaks reviving analog, I just loaded the first roll of Tri-x* in decades (really!) in one of them to do some testing. I really had not touched these since around 1993-94 probably. You have in your hands one of the very best, past and present. Gen Z meets Boomer tech! Thanks for the inspiration and the fine videos. - p
* $12 a roll? Yikes! Can't believe what it costs now. A roll in the early 1980s was around $3. Sigh....
Superb camera.
Nice Film! Nice Graine :) and Good Camera! Thanbks!
Great video and fabrastic narrative.
My F3 is my favorite camera and you can’t beat that 100% viewfinder coverage
Everything in black n white feels right!!!!! In my opinion......
Great work and the F3 will you everytime make you happy;) nice greets from Austria, Europe👏📷🍀 awesome Video👍
Those self portraits came out amazing!
this video made me smile today
SO GOOD!!!!
You really captured the city in a forest vibe that makes ATL so special
9:58 phone sound like Halloween clip. Dark place and the phone rings vibe
my mouth was wide open throughout most of the video truly some great work, love these videos Tay:)
🥹😭
Loved my F3/T. Mostly used with the motor drive as a newspaper photog. The film advance is the smoothest you will find in an SLR. Nikon added more ball bearings to the advance compared to the F2, four over one. Enjoy!
Nice video with good inspirations. I myself have experience with analog black and white photography since the early 1990s. Have also developed my own films and made prints. I find that too much hype is made about analog photography. Yes, it is great to continue the analog craft, but this craft can nowadays be continued more flexibly on the digital way, in a higher quality. I see a lot of work from good photographers who are still moving in the analog world. I am firmly convinced that nowadays you can achieve just as good, if not better, results in the digital world.
So much for all the hype with analog photography.
You know how to use lighting to your advantage. Props to you
We love a good jason cameo
Also, that first self portrait is such a good use for the removeable viewfinder!!
wow gorgeous work 😱
That is a really great Kamera, i used it in the 80.s,One of the best Kameras you can buy, i wish you a lot of amazin Photos and a lot of fun,
Greatings, Tom from Germany
just found this page and obsessed. swaggy cute photographer? yes please
such a beautiful camera
Great photos. And I agree KEH is the best. I got my Minolta X-570 from there. Bargain bin it’s nearly perfect.
some lovely stuff 💛✌️
One of the best 35mm cameras ever made. Definitely look for a waist level viewfinder for it. So fun.
You camera was once media. Cool. Thank you for letting me see how you look at where I call home. Glad we were a nice place for you. If you ever sell prints from here pls let me know. Peace & love
Picked up a MINT F3 with the nikkor 50 1.4 for $30 this year! Best purchase of my life!
It’s a great camera. I first wanted one in 1996 when my photo teacher had one. I eventually got one years later and still use it today. I love it with the md-4 motor drive. Clunky and heavy but awesome when I don’t feel like using the advance lever. Haha!
Bought my F3 in 1990, it's still works like new. I always have the motor drive on, you get used to the weight.
Absolutely lovely studio portraits ! I love the poses and the light. And I agree, the 3200 film grain is awesome :) If you've never tried it before, HP5+ at 3200 is actually really good (albeit a lot more contrasty than Delta 3200).
I had a weird thing happen to me with my f3; the on off plastic switch broke when i was used the winder. Apparently thats one of the few weak points of the camera. Besides that, love the camera and bought a backup, even though the f3 keeps on working with the broken switch. You can leave the camera in the on position all the time, it only consumes battery when you press the shutter button. I also found it helpful to purchase a shutter release button to install on the camera, as I find the f3's standard shutter release button kind of shallow. Its an amazing 35mm camera and I haven't really found other alternatives that I like as much.
watches video*
proceeds to delete my atlanta video edit*
but seriously the cam kirk video montage, the photos of Brooklen, chefs kiss. great video of a great time Taylor.
Paaauuullliiiieeeeeee! Thank you, this is so so sweet. Can’t wait to see yours! NO DELETING
Yooooo you really did your thing! It was dope meeting you man, you have a great spirit and an eye! Thank you for the new profile pic lol
big love telly 💕
Awesome video.... I have the F4 and my son has the F3. We could not make it down to FlimStock this year but are planning to make it next year.
I got a Canon F-1N from KEH. I freaking love that thing.
N9ikon F3 is a great camera
i got mine used around 1990, it was the pro cam for 1980 t0 1990
At that time, a used one was around 1000 USD .. but not loosing worth.. for a long time..
Not like now the digital models, replaced that soon...
Still in the shelf, including MD4, differnst finders....
Was / is a great piece of gear!
This has inspired me to get out my FM2n and some 3200 black and white film again!
I’ve had my F3 since 85, it’s been a great camera. Still shoot it regularly
The F3 (& the various iterations of the F4) are solidly built film cameras - I always have one or the other with me; coincidentally, B & W is my favourite medium; colour's OK, but it detracts from the subject matter , primarily because one third of the World's populace can only see in monochrome - the other 66% have the advantage of polychromatic vision - it's a great motivator to perceive everything in the grey scale vis-a-vis the often taken-for-granted colour scales that we witness each day of our lives. B & W also renders the subject matter (whatever that may be) in a more moody context. Great video !
Two recent purchases I made from KEH were packed with plastic bubble wrap instead of recycled cardboard like your video suggests that KEH uses for packing material. I bought a Nikon lens tripod collar from the KEH website and a wimberley arca swiss quick release plate from the KEH EBay store because it was not listed on the KEH website. Neither needed plastic bubble wrap.
Fantastic
Liek it! Thanks for uploading it.
Very great content Taylor. Love your photos. I own a Canon F1 New (removable viewfinder as well), but I would to try a Nikon F3.
OMG the focusing screen 🙈🙈
Nice cool video. F-3 is just a legend, congratulations. If you find yourself comfortable shooting waist level you could check the waist level viewfinder for the F-3 and be safe(r) shooting that way.
You are better and better!!! New camera is the best camera :)
this is so sweet 😭
You did cool photos!
Own an F, an F2, an F3, an F4, and an F801. Lovely cameras. And CoolScan V to scan. The F3 was bought by me in 1981 (the F1 was bought in 63 by my dad).....found an HP viewfinder later. It was plagued by an intermittent fault for 4 years and 5 Nikon services in 2 Nikon service points. Then, I insisted on a flexprint change. 2 days later, a letter. The print had a tear I couldn't have caused myself. All bills were refunded. Since then, it never missed a beat. Later, I also shot a Fuji GX680. Great photos as well. The F and the F3 I will never sell, the rest maybe..... And, great photos. Street, you should only be allowed to shoot on film. As you do, it's magical. And important. Keep your keen eyes open, and enjoy.
So much better than the sunny16 bs. Try the 105 2.5. Troo loove. Thanks for sharing.
