    Most of us are not collectors of ultra expensive watches, so providing more information about watches we can afford is a GREAT IDEA and please do more of it. I saw a couple of watches in your review that I would never have looked at without the video.

      Well said bro most people share a love of watches but aren't millionaires, so we can't all buy a Rolex or a Patek.

      I started watching these videos when wanted to buy a watch and already have half-dozen.
      This is great to get people into watches while they were only looking for something functional without "value".

    Total respect from this video. If you love watches, you love them all; from Submariners to sub homages. Sometimes it's a matter of preference and / or budget. Thanks Teddy for showing us that enjoying a watch shouldn't be driven only by the price tag.

      I thought the same thing as I think I remember seeing at least 3 individual watches for around $125 plus there were a couple brands I think where a range was given that started at $125 and went higher. I have a lot of watches and to me there is a big difference between a watch under $100 and a watch $125+. Watches under $100 are typically fun watches that I buy based more on the look for a specific style that I wear for 2-3 years than give away or sell whereas watches over $125 I buy are more of a serious purchase that I plan to keep in my collection longer term.

    A great range of ‘affordable’ watches. A must watch video. I’m also beginning to discover that price is no longer an indicator of quality. High spec watches that were once out of reach of the average person are now available to all - for a variety of reasons. I think what your video demonstrates is putting aside brand snobbishness and approaching the watch world with an open mind, together with some sensible and diligent research can bring some amazing and often surprising rewards. And all on a sensible budget.

  • @marcs990
    @marcs990 6 ปีที่แล้ว +8

    What a refreshing change, I love watches but everyone forgets about the good old cheap, made to not care if u damage it range. Some great tips here. In my line of work I know a load of guys who have to have the toughest latest 1000 meters , a depth that no one is ever gonna use unless you are an oil worker and need to go down to 1000 ft to fix a line dressed in a one million pounds underwater space suit. All u need is reliable time and date if digital, not so important if analog, that’s not gonna fall apart on your wrist. That’s truly all u need, when it gets busted. Throw it away or give it to ur kid. Simple n easy. Well done.....and a lot of these could easily be mistaken for something much more expensive 👍

    I'm folllowing your advice, but it's not just yours--a lot of your TH-cam peers are on the same page. Just bought my first new watch in over 13 years, an Orient Tristar Day Date automatic for $90. Having this guy with its polished stainless bracelet means I don't have to swap leather straps to match my belt when I wear a suit. This one is non-hacking. I'm wearing it right now. Had to adjust the deployant clasp all the way down, but I think that's going to be snug enough for my preference (I like a little bit of "play.") So far so good. I have a green SNK805 inbound as well.

    When Eyal Lalo first bought Invicta and was making the 40mm diver with Swiss ETA movements and doing it in Switzerland, they weren’t to bad. They were still homage watches, but at least they were made pretty decent. I’ve owned and worn Rolex, Gerard-Perregaux, Omega, IWC, Tudor, Tag, Longines, Chopard and Hamilton watches, and my best friend, who was a jeweler, loved watches and cheap watches. He gave me an Invicta 40mm diver for Christmas one year in the mid 90’s. I wore it for a while since it was a gift from my best friend, but soon was wearing a Rolex again. He called me a watch snob, but I told him that it wasn’t snobbery, it’s about quality. Sure that Invicta kept time to a decent degree, but it was the fit and finish. Ron, my buddy, die a few years ago, and I still have that watch he gave me. I may never wear it again, but it represents a friendship, not just a cheap watch. When I buy a watch or I’m given a watch, I don’t usually ever part with them. I think I have 63 watches a present. More than so, fewer than others.

    Another option to the Cadisen are the Nakzen SL7002 or SS7002 models. They have the same Miyota 9015 movement, and can be found for just under $100.
    BTW - The Guanqin GJ16034 was being sold on some sites with the Miyota 8205 in place of the Seiko NH36A. Apparently, there was a shortage of the Seiko movements, and Guanqin produced at least one batch using the Miyota instead.

    Instead of the Casio W800-1AV, I think you should have instead chosen the Casio AE1200WHB-1A or the "Casio Royale". It has a different aesthetic than the other digitals you showed, and I think it would have completed the list a little more. That being said, AWESOME video. I wore an Invicta pro diver daily for years, including a lot of water time, as I live in Florida. I got really good service out of it. The worst thing about it is the lume. It really sucks, but for the price, it's hard to beat...and it has a Seiko NH35 movement, which I think is better than the 7S26 and 7S36 in my actual Seikos.

  • @bubbag02

    I have a few of the watches mentioned in the video. The Casio Duro dive watch and the Seiko 5 SNKL23 (my favorite!) as well as a SNK807K2. As far as a watch I'd recommend that's not on the list, I'd go with the Casio WVAM640D-1A Wave Cepter solar atomic watch. Its original MSRP was $160 but nowadays you can pretty much find it anywhere well under $100. It has both analogue and digital elements but keeps it simple and elegant for those that want to be geeky while being subtle about it. The only real negative is the somewhat visible plastic case but otherwise it's a great looking watch that's functional as well.

      Depends how much you use the extra features like alarm or if your Casio has a backlight. Battery will still last about five years if you use the alarm and and stopwatch functions that beep a lot. Less so if you are always using the backlight, I found. But batteries are cheap.

      Robert Easley I have the exact one shown with the blue dial/blue face and I love it! The ones with the NH35A Calibur (pretty much the pro/grand diver series') may just be the best watches that company makes/has made since the turn of the century.
